"YOU SAY HELLO, AND I SAY GOODBY"

I'm still getting information but as of noon today AMP-OHIO has canceled its Coal Power Electric Plant in Meigs County. Estimate of building costs had topped over
4 Billion in cost and still rising. Now if the government wanted to stimulate the economy they would propose a new form of energy besides coal.

For everyone against the 50 year contract this might be good news, but for our children 20 years from now we will be struggling to find electricity...... just one more disaster the Obama regime will leave behind.

Such a defeatest thought. Obama wasn't the reason that plant wasn't built. Americans will have plenty of electricity in 20 or 50 years it just might not come from an outdated coal plant. A little over a hundred years ago you would have been screaming what will my children be riding in if you don't build a new stagecoach factory?
Oh, the disaster you speak, that was a present from Bush to Obama, what problem did that administration ever solve? Remember TARP?

Obama said he would bankrupt the coal industry so this is one more of his legacies!

WELL Happy Nothing. Madpotter, Term, and Andy Flock helped make it a reality that in a very short time we will be eating our dinner in the dark. You 3 plus a few of your othe cohorts Murphy, Tibbets will make it a point to embarress our community anyway you can.
You complain about services then do everything you can to stop a levy? You don't want the hospital demolished so we can have another empty eyesore in town. We live in a very safe, progressive town with an educational system far superior to many around us yet your only contributions are complaints and public embarressments such as this site. When I see you on the street I will let you know what I think of you, and I hope other proud residents of Painesville do the same! I only hope others show there scorn for what you profess.

Well Happy Thanksgiving to you, anyway? The people mentioned did not stop the coal plant... common sense did, something I wish more on council had shown. As far as telling us what you think of us when you see us, although I can't speak for others I am sure we would welcome your thought os us and our ideas. You keep living in your make believe Painesville, in your case its not a location, or even a state of mind. Its an Alice in Wonderland Fairy Tale. Enjoy what little you really have here.

Don't be a hater on Thanksgiving 5:16 am.
I will be living large in Paine Falls and wish you great seasons wishes!

Read the paper the AMP deal had nothing to do with anyone in Painesville it was a sound financial decision by AMP Ohio. No amount of power will help you find your way out of the dark. But then hey didn't they say the Titanic would never sink?

And what about the grant we got? Not one of you bloggers has any comment on that? Just spreading the hate on the holidays........ have a good one!

In the article in the paper Rita McMahan "I" saw the price increase and it made no sense? Ms. McMahon in all honesty you didn't have a say in anything Painesville City was always at the mercy of Amp-Ohio thats the whole problem with the deal, show us documentation please.

5:16 Thanks for relaying my thoughts also. This small group of tirants and malcontents are the reason Painesvillew is where we are at. Term, Madpotterrs are the worse and Andy Flock hasn't a clue how to get on board. I have talked to others our town and schools are envy of alot of communities. There high fiveing right now because of AMP, but soon they will be doing. it in darkness.

Proud, can't wait to hear how your savior Joe Hada spins this. He spoke for over an hour on how this was the greatest deal of the century, wonder what was in it for him? Someone should ask him while we;re asking questions. Got to wonder what else he doesn't know his ^^^ from a hole in the ground? Sure didn't know there was water in the ground at Heisley, or did he?

to 6:26, you may be tired of it, but apparently Painesville isn't, they re elected him.

Joe Hada a well known hometown boy that has taken Painesville down many false avenues. He explained the purpose and need of this project many times. What else will he be wrong about? What has he been right about?

Loved how Hada bragged about saving my job and adding more where I worked in 2005.
Now the city wants money to clean that mess up. What about jobs?

Everyone that voted for Obama got what they wanted "clean coal technology" was a broken record statement that he made throughout his campaign. I think the Gov't would like this type of thing so I don't see it going away. JT

JT. Look into this before you blame anyone. Checkout the process of how they were going to mine the coal, The cost of "clean coal."
This project had failure on it since its start, with communities like Painesville holding the bag.

As much as I hate to admit it you might have made two points I am starting to agree with you about.
1. Painesville always takes the easy way.
2. The only reason we are here is to provide 370 well paying jobs.

I like yourself am getting tired of listening to our fire chief moan every other day in the paper. Your answer was right on target. That more does he want? He has had plenty of time and resources to make this transfer to Tri-Point work. What has he been doing except complaining.
Why would one fireman be allowed 500 hours of overtime? Unions? Administration? I can only hope the new councilpeople hold the city manager in check.
Will my councilman in Ward 3 ever return my calls?

He was complaining about not being able to replace a vehicle. The city has spent over $650,000 in new fire equipment how much is he looking to spend. The sad part of all this government has no clue how to cut back. Should they layoff firefighters or ask them to take an hourly cut? If safety is whats important laying off your work force is not the solution. Is there anyone in government that can reason with there employees? Do these public servants read newspapers or watch television? Do they see or care whats happening in the outside world? It's like asking your father for a raise in your allowance, the day after hes been cut back to thirty hours a week. As someone else stated earlier in a post, everyone in Painesville getting a 2% raise added $200,000.00 to the budget.
As far as ward 3? Well he was reelected two years ago, and I don't see him stepping aside, so call one of the at large councilperson.

The city, and its employees come first. The residents always finish last!

People will find out shortly why the council president wants all votes 7- zip. "We ALL thought it was a good project to get involved with."
Can't say that anymore Joe? more votes are getting split and in the end we will all see who's using their heads.
The proposed budget is a sham, and people better think what there voting on.

Reread the article mentioned in one of the above comments. Chief Mlachak stated the need to purchase a non-emergency vehicle as well as Thermo Imagery equipment, but the proposals were shot down.
Chief who shot them down did you make the proposal to council? I never heard you mention this at the budget meeting or at your presentation to council. Again who shot it down?
Council since you hold the purse strings who on council shot it down?
Councilpeople should ask why this statement was even made in the newspaper? Will this be another case where council voted on the budget, I had nothing to do about it?

Who do you think shot it down,oh wise one?

I will keep my thoughts to myself, but will ask the chief at the next council meeting. By the way who paid for that statue outside the fire department? Anyone know?

TERM, I was responding to the fact that someone mentioned breaking away from fossil fuel and looking for other alternatives is all. If Obama did not say that he supported coal as a fuel during his campaign let me know, otherwise, I stand by my comment, that was too short for mis-represented interpritation. JT

It is very sad that people keep electing Hada and his group to council. They are not who they seem to be. I wouldn't let these people walk my dog.
