"LOVE THE ONE YOUR WITH"

Well, as we all know the election season has come and gone. We have an incumbent and two new members on city council. Let me congratulate them on there victory.
To say I'm not concerned that we have four members of council directly related to the school system would be a lie. They will have ample time to prove me wrong.
Nothing was resolved today, we still have the same problems in Painesville that we did on Monday and we will have fewer dollars to solve them with.
I will continue to ask questions and I will continue to let this site be an open line to what you think the city should do.
I guess I'll ride this train with the rest of you until it goes off the tracks or goes to the promise land.

Term, You don't get it people in Painesville like it at the bottom. Look around whats changed in the last eight years? What will you think will change in the next four years. People have proven they are very happy being complacent. The city sucks and the schools suck and its been that way since my family moved here in 1989. Why everyone puts up with it I will never know.

A sad, sad evening. Steve Costell should have been on the school board - but no - just the SAME old, SAME old. Wake up Painesville - things need to change but they never will as long as the SAME old people remain on the school board. The new school buildings could be a big draw for new families to come into the community, but with our
SAME old test scores and SAME old graduation rates and SAME old discipline issues - forget it. We will never luck out with community growth like Perry did when they opened their new schools. Who knows, maybe Steve wouldn't have done any better, BUT he could not have done any worse. A fresh outlook on the school situation would have been welcoming to say the least. Oh well, I guess the SAME old people within the school system will keep getting away with the SAME old BS since the SAME old school board will continue to cast the SAME old blind eye to BAD BEHAVIOR and INCOMPETENCE. (not by the students - the employees!) I'm so sorry Steve, you had my vote. Maybe next you'll luck out for next term......you will have my vote again.

The citizens of Painesville have spoken by electing three very good people to represent them on Council. Mr. Murphy would have been a very choice after all the things you have heard about him in the last few days. We need people who are honest and truthful. To the person who things Painesville is bad but has lived here since 1989 perhaps you should move and go some place else to complain.

A very productive night for Painesville? We added two new bobbleheads to council and the genius of Joe Hada will lead us out of the desert. What, it took Moses 50 years and Joe's no Moses.

I feel bad for Gagliardi, of all the people running, he seemed to care the most about Painesville, and not out for himself. It's too bad he didn't really run a campaign.

I'm glad I don't live in Painesville anymore, however, I still have a business in Painesville, so I still have great concerns, but I'm glad I go home every night somewhere else. I wish I could have voted.

I don't know why everyone keeps returning Hada. After 20+ years, you would think people would realize that Painesville is worse off then when he got there. If he was a CEO or on the board of a company, he would have been canned 10 years ago.

It seems to me that the majority has spoken. I will not say which way I wished things to go because that is my right to have my opinion as my own. BUT, it appears that the comments that are upset are in the minority in this City. Will there ever be a great hope for the City, most likley not. Many of you have had a friend that may have worked on the floor with you and then became management. That person, no matter how good they were, changed a bit, they have to. There are two sides to the world, workers and bosses. The bosses have to conform to a certain methodology to survive, they just do. The workers never like the way that the bosses run things.

I don't know if the new folks will work out in the long run, but I hope that they are able to deal the day to day business with a good and trong belief that what they are doing is right by the majority. Sure, saying insulting comments makes you feel better for a second, but keeping track of what they do lasts much longer. JT

The people were well informed an made their choices. They did a good job. For you complainers: There is another election in four years and even one in two.
No need to insult anyone, no need to be vindictive or anything else. We should be adults about it. We should all come together for the betterment of the city. Sour grapes is not productive for anyone.

The best of luck to all of you, when you can actually start to participate/get off your hind-ends/find-out the realities/and start posting some type of knowledge that you have researched: then come-back to this Blog and post it like an educated individual.

This city has gone no where in the last 20 years, are the residents that stupid that they continue to elect Joe Hada?

Everyone needs to spend the next four years challenging every resident who voted for Joe by asking what has "JOE HADA" done for this city?
He will claim many things, but when you unwrap most of them it was someone else that accomplished it and he took credit for it.

Yes, I know, I have to work with the guy, he is nothing more than your typical smooth talking politician with no substance behind his words.

And, he does not have the unquestioned loyalty of the administration like he thinks, he just has the power to make life hard so everyone goes along.

To the person that sent me the proud to be white email. I would post it if you had signed it. Why? I am proud to be white. I do not believe I have lost most of my rights, and it will never be a crime to be white. If it is a crime to be proud to be white, or a racist statement. then the same holds true for everyone who is proud to be Asian, African, Hispanic what ever. I am proud to be white, I believe everyone brings something to the table. That said if an American illegal moved into another country without the right papers in my eyes he is a crimminal, white, black, hispanic whatever. The thinking on open borders is that if I want to live in your house I just move in , maybe I'll wash your dishes or cut your lawn but you need me here. No I don't!

Who payed for the traffic signals at Liberty and Chestnut? How was it proposed to be payed? Was the city ever payed? Its just not healthy to have the two so close.

Here’s another twist to the whines about Painesville and it going nowhere. Just a small area of town. I realize other things have closed up, but I can counter with other changes that have happened. But sitting around crying about it, blaming others, trashing reputations and name calling aint gonna get nothing done.

Where has Painesville gone to from the time I started. December 1986

I note the following changes

Richmond st. corridor

Cleaned up exits at rt. 2. the old gas station at stage is a car wash
Chester restaurant remodeled.
Car wash cleaned and painted up
Convenient expanded.
Walker brothers expanded
Got rid of the abandoned gas station at Axtell and put up dunking donuts and other stores
Kfc opened
Active expanded, bought up old homes and demolished them.
Clark gas station rebuilt/remodeled
Mar val left and walgreens went up
Salvation army gone, now Chinese restaurant and loan store
Jackson to 20 old homes on east side demolished with old gas station. Now laundry mat, taco bell and northwest bank
West side added veterans admin, new ssn, new mcdonalds, and new office building on corner.
Arbys remodeled and bp expanded/remodeled.

4:53pm, you don't think the fact that Lori or Hal owes their job to the school system just might affect how they vote on issues for the city. They will always take a stance in the interest of the school. also, the schools get money for each illegal so my guess is the city will be even more accepting of the illegals with Lori on board.

Regardless of who anyone voted for, I am appalled at what I see on this blog. You are all insulting the majority of painesville voters for who they voted for. I don't care who anyone voted for, I still refuse to insult my neighbors. If we need to come together as a city to achieve something positive, then you people are impeding progress by insulting our citizens. Shame on all of you. Maybe with no election pending you should shift your focus. Maybe we should make painesville better rather than insult our leaders insult those who voted for them and crap on our future. Don't call my neighbors ignorant or stupid. Period.

Maddogs drinking the Kool-Aid again. How many business have left or closed in Painesville since 1986? Lets start with the hospital how many Taco Bells, KFC do you have to have in town to make up the difference of that one employer? I will compile a list of business that have left since 1986 you compile one that shows all the new business and dollar for dollar you will be so far behind.
Painesvilles Economic Development Department should be closed for not only what the have driven away but what they have failed to attract. With these cheap utility rates you should have to beat businesses with a stick from coming to town.
The only things that matter in Painesville is the sewer plant the water plant the electric plant and keeping 370 people with good paying secure jobs that 70% do not even want to live here.

As a Painesville city resident, I am glad with the council election results. I am VERY glad Mr. Murphy did not get elected, he is a loose cannon. Council has been a a freak show for too long, hopefully these with common sense will turn things for the better. And I agree with the other bloggers-hopefully Werner and Flock will be next.
I was however disapointed with the school board. I too hoped for Mr. Costell instead of Mr. Kalb. I refuse to refer to him as a reverand as he was not very reverand dealing with parents of some students during meetings. He was very rude and narcissistic. Mr. Costel I hope you will try again along with any other looking to overthrow the good old boys club at the BOE.
And another thing, Term I think it's a disgrace to the music world to use beautiful song titles for this site. I hope you are paying royalties.
