"CITY COUNCIL MEETING 10/05/09"

Not to much on the agenda will report what passes.
Mr. Lynch will give a report about the Citys Service Departments.

Some questions from the citizens might be concern of the school properties turned into parks or green spaces?
How much in arrears a closed restaurant in Painesville owes in utility bills? Is it really over $10,000?
All the garbage littered on the tree laws before pick-up day?

How about the 2010 city budget?
Is it really have to be cut $900,000 from the general fund, and department heads have so far on shown only cuts of around $220,000?
Will the city's health insurance costs increase 26%?
Will the local government fund be cut 12%? [$500,000.]
Most positions that are vacated will be left unfilled unless absolutely essential?
Transfers will not be done in and out of rotary funds next year? [Please explain}
Not a single utility is operating within current revenues? Could be a situation like the water department isn't selling water to the electric plant for the cooling towers because the power plant is buying off the grid because its cheaper to buy then to produce it?
What fund did the money come out of to pay for the traffic lights at Cedarbrook and Keningston? or the money to forgive the permit fees?
Wish council people would ask questions like this?

**************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
Still checking on raises given to school administrators will report soon.
Well I've got some news on raises given to the school administrators they received 1% raises this year. So if you make $70,000.00 you received a $700.00 raise this year. Now Dr. Hanlon received a "stipends" I haven't heard that word since Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. The stipends is for the new school construction? I don't know right now how long he receives it or the amount. This might be what everybody is talking about a $20,000.00 raise.
**************************************************************************************************************************************************************************Update on council meeting of 10/05/09 coming everything passed.
Not much happened Its Muni-power month, and the storm water resolution passed.
One subject that brought alot of attention was something called the "Matricila Consulaic" card please ignore the spelling . Somehow the county commissioners thought it was a good idea to let these card be issued for identification? Common sense if your here legally you have proper papers. Council President Joe Hada explained the city of Painesville does not honor the card, as do most government agency's. I couldn't understand where Councilman Hal Werner wanted to go with this since the city understood that the card cannot be used? Hal here's an idea go around to stores in Painesville and check that clerks are not using this card for I.D. to purchase tobacco, and alcohol and put a stop to that practice. Report any store to the State Liquor Control Agency that continues to use it for I.D. Trust me the card is being abused. Trust me

To anonymous at 3:29..$900k shortfall..interesting..I guess your weren't at the meeting with department heads. Ask for a copy of the meeting's minutes..I'm sure there is a copy or two laying around city hall. Or better yet..go there and ask for it..you might be surprised what you read.

So what if they did not pay the permit fees, if they did it would still come out of our pockets.

Really, The State of Ohio payed for two-thirds of construction costs. did we save the state money or the school board money? What Fodor, DiNallo, and Hada must have forgotten is that a great part of the city is in the Riverside School District and the people in Liberty Greens, Heisley Park and Cobblestone might have wanted to keep that money in the citys pocket. Seem from what I'm hearing the administration did pretty good in their wage package this year, and if they used that money properly maybe I wouldn't be complaining so much, but if you give out big raises and at the same time layoff staff, Well your no better then AIG. I want to see all of the administrators pay packages. The state average of administration costs are 13% why is Painesvilles 19% ?
Do we run the schools to educate students or to fund a bureaucracy?

So what your saying is the schools owed the city 3apples and the state was going to pay for 2apples, and the schools for 1 apple and the geniuses at city hall said you don't owe us for the apples even though the schools were only going to pay for 1 apple? These are the same people signing 50 million dollar contracts that might cost 100 million? SCARY!

Term,
So what if it was the state money or the school money, it would still be our taxes money that would pay for the permits, so I think it was A good thing the city did, by not makeing them pay it.

God, Term. you sometimes just cant get it, can you ?

6:35 Sorry, I disagree with you, now we have a city budget looking for $900,000. Its easy to see why.

This is a campaign site for John Murphy.
Why do you hide that?
Why don't you tell all the readers your bias?
Why not be upfront and honest?
If you can't be honest about your goals then I have no reason to believe anything you say.

Don't believe a word, I could csre less. A site for John Murphy as far as I know hes the only one that has answered a question on here, sorry Paul Hach has also and gave some clear answers if I remember. that hardly makes it his site. He wasn't to happy with the grade he got on candidates night either it I remember. He was rated the lowest. This was the 250 post on this blog. All for John Murphy right.

The posts here are about city and school business .What the agenda at the city council meetings are questions ect. Electricity Amp-Ohio no mention of any candidate. The only thing I have read on this site about candidates, was when one mentioned ordinances would Not be enforced because it was illegal to profile a nationality. and two other candidates running for council nodded their heads in agreement. I was as stunned as he was. You better wake-up Painesville and quick!

At $50,000,000 dollars in a city with around 18,000 people that would make every man, woman, and child resposible for $3000.00 in construction costs. Will we save more than that? What if the cost goes to $100,000,000 dollars? Look before you leap, and most people will tell you coal is dead.

At October 5, 2009 at 11:53 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

If it isn't dead yet it will be in 25 years, people there is no such thing as "clean coal" and if there was you would spend more to get it clean than the power it would produce, If this was a great financial investment don't you think big Wall St. firms would be on the ground floor? They want in on the deal as long as city's back there money. and Painesville will be part owner of a 5 billion dollar pink elephant.

At October 5, 2009 at 12:30 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I would like someone to refute this who really thinks that coal will be a viable energy source in 50yrs?? Yet the people who run this city want ball and chain this city to it. Now if you like this idea keep the them in charge if not vote and remove them.

Where is the $50,000,000 number coming from?

At October 7, 2009 at 11:39 AM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

Check with the city administration,or AMP-OHIO, and while your at it ask for the numbers for Prarie State coal plant we haven't even brought that up yet.

At October 7, 2009 at 1:59 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

What is Prarie State?

At October 8, 2009 at 6:42 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I don't feel the need to check with anyone. I am asking the person who stated the number on here. Where did you get it? Did you pull it out of thin air? What is your source? It is a valid question.

At October 8, 2009 at 8:43 AM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

I will ask for the figures from city hall on all of the costs dealing with AMP-OHIO I will get the facts for you. Prarie State Energy is another company that AMP-OHIO has contracted thru to purchase electricity for Painesville. Yes we signed a contract. the plant and coal mine should be operational within the year.

I'm sure Term will return with the figures and then you will be happy. I'm for one starting to go to council meetings, if they make stupid deals like this.who knows what else is going on? Where was this Amp deal in the Citys Comprehensive Plan? Rita, Joe?

This post was removed and a name changed from 5:42 Oct4.

This post was removed from above and edited because some people thought it was posted by a city employee?
I thought it was posted Anonymous by someone trying to show humor.
I'm starting to understand why some would think it was a real. post.

I posted it as sarcasm but really its not that far from the truth. Either the city, inspection dept, or this employee one or all three are out of control. You said it yourself look around and look at all the violations, why go behind garages in peoples backyards? 20 or so violations on one street for minor infractions? Get the important things. Please!

At October 9, 2009 at 6:33 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Your right its not far from the truth. Maybe some inspectors should be retrained in public relations, or at least get new glasses?

Do you think the people who live at the corner of Mentor Ave. and Chestnut St. want you to know they support Joe Hada? Well I"ve been thinking about him everyday for the last month as I drive down this road? Can we finish it soon?

I don't think anyone in the city has any control over this project. This is an ODOT project and along with changing the curbs they have run into additional problems, be careful this weekend they raised the manhole covers for the next coat of asphalt. You could do some real damage to your vehicle hitting them at speed.

At October 9, 2009 at 9:01 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

ODOT or what DOT snows on the way and why would you wait until the end of the year to do this project, and at the same time see no need to get it done?
City Hall should be on the phone everyday. Remember on T.V. the CM said the sidewalks on Jackson St. would be done by the start of school? Well, there still over there today. Was the CM ignorant or just misinformed?

The inspector I came in contact with was very rude. I just asked it see identification. Who sends these people out on there witchhunts anyway? Is this because I have a candidates sign in the yard they do like? over 60 years here and now this.

I am glad that someone finally looked into AMP Ohio. I could never understand why we needed to sign up for this to start with, let alone for 50 years. Thanks Term, I am glad to see that I am not the only one to disagree with City Council.
