"WHAT"S GOING ON, TELL ME WHATS..."

Question? Who owns the house at 74 Axtell Ave, How many people live there? Are they legally here? Why is there a couch on the front porch?
I know the answer to these questions. To Mr./Mrs. Theres to much rental property in town, go to a city council meeting and ask "What's going on?"

For some of you who might be interested tonight theres a special Board of Education meeting to fill the seat vacated by Sean Seibert. Anybody know who it is?

The new member of the School Board is John Ehrbar, congratulations and good luck John. Mr. Ehrbar is Director Central Branch Y.M.C.A.

At last weeks council meeting Mrs. Becks asked if the sidewalks on the northside of Jackson St. would be finished by the start of the school year. The CM assured here things were to be completed on time? Well school starts Wednesday and I haven't seen a sidewalk yet. As you travel Jackson St. starting Wednesday be on the lookout for children darting across the street.

Sorry guys, I'm holding up on this one. Someone should call city hall and ask who owns that property.
I had no idea about all the property being own by one or two people thanks for the heads up.

Is there any chance that the property owner could be the City of Pain?

No chance ---- do your homework before making your accusations. Need a source to find the owner? Try the county auditors website at

http://www.lake.iviewauditor.com/

Why don't you call the owner personally and ask your questions instead of trying to falsely paint the city as the owner of the property?

Chill out, anonymous 5:25am. I think the poster was being facetious, that the way they are getting away with their violations is the city must own it. Just being flippant, is how I took it. It is concerning, though, why there is such selective enforcement of codes? Can you answer that for me?

At August 25, 2009 at 11:43 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

you should also cross check with the recorders page that will tell you who holds the mortgage and the amount. If the auditor's page and recorders page match thats who owns the property. People sometimes put homes in others names to protect assets and protect from lawsuit. The person who is paying the mortage is most likely the person who owns the home. In addition you should check lake county clerk of courts to see if there are leins on the property and if the landlord had to evict said renter its all public record and easy to find.

I believe in the end Tern will tell us ALL of us. The City of Painesville probably bought the house, lock stock, and illegal the question will then become why? The light plant, community center, but why buy it occupied? Just a wild guess but Terms didn't pick this house out of the blue.

Could the city buy this house without getting permission or at least letting the citizens know. It should have been discussed at council meeting. I went by the house yesterday. There were 9 cars parked in the back "yard", 2 cars in the drive and a truck and another car parked in the street. There were 6 people on the porch and several milling around in the yard. TERM, please tell us who bought this house. Someone suggested comparing Treasurer's site with the Auditor's site. I find the property value site which is the auditor, I think. I can't find a property search for the treasurer. How do you do that?

I want to respond to the question about the new school board member. I went to school with John Ehrbar from kindergarten through graduation. He doesn't have any kids. He if one of the nicest guys I know. He is very smart and extremely qualified for this position. He could have taken several high paying jobs out of college, but chose to go work for the YMCA and help the youth of the county. He has great parents and had a great upbringing. I know that he will be a great asset for the schools. I talked to him yesterday, and he is very excited to get started. I hope everyone gives him a chance. He is truly doing this to help the children of Painesville, not as some stepping stone to something bigger.

Looking at the schol districts ranking in the Plain Dealer this morning he will have enough to keep him and the rest of the board busy. I think we were rated 88 out of 94 districts, I will check all the scores out I know we were last in Lake County, We did beat Maple Heights and East Cleveland. Starting to believe Cleveland Magazine might not have been off that much.
If Mr. Ehrbar believes in the 50% policy I don't see any big changes coming our way.

Term, get off the 50% policy, most of you are so focused on the one aspect of that whole policy that you never even figured out what the rest of the policy was about.

You can believe it is wrong all you want but that doesn't make your last comment about Mr. Ehrbar OK.

How can so many professional educators believe in that type of a policy and because Term and Karen thinks its bad everyone else that might believe in it is wrong?

If it is so bad and you know it so well name for us even just one or two other of the requirements enacted as part of that policy.

At August 26, 2009 at 11:49 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

It doesn't matter what other aspects of that policy may be good. The 50% policy is so extremely bad it would negate anything. A policy could have been enacted that included these "good" things you are talking about and leaving out the 50% policy. But the 50% policy is the major aspect of this. I have studied it. I had a good receive the consequences of this policy. And because there are some educators who believe in it, does not mean there are not an extreme amount of educators who do not believe in it. Take a poll of the surrounding school districts. Are all the other superintendents stupid for not adopting this policy? Does the school where Hanlon's kids go have this policy? I can tell you that "no" they do not have this policy. And the bottom line is, this is not helping. It's not even helping the kids that Hanlon was trying to give a free ride to. Our system is still lowest on the totem pole. That speaks for itself.

Its a skam on the taxpayers and residents of Painesville. Most of all the students whos participation in this folly will hurt them down the road..
It wasn't a slam on anyone, What are the schools goals to educate or make themselves look good? I not an expert in education but I can tell when someone is selling me balogna and expecting me to believe its steak.

The Plain Dealer article is a good read as it states other schools and what they are doing to turn things around. Some ideas are very innovative and working.
The 50% grading policy is not listed.

Mentor and the other excellent school systems aren't using it because they don't need it. In case you haven't noticed they aren't dealing with all the same problems Painesville is.

If you want a school system like Mentor you better figure out a way to turn Painesville into a predominantly white upper middle class city.

And, I still want to know if any of you that hate the 50% even know what the rest of the policy was about? If you can speak so freely and strongly against it I would hope you took the time to know the rest of the policy.

Oh, have you ever been to the Headlands upper what?

At August 26, 2009 at 5:21 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Actually, it is not being a racist to say White upper middle class students have a better chance of succeeding in school, that is a proven fact!

If you knew anything at all about education you would know that hispanic immigrants, low income of any race, inner city any race (usually black), etc. all have much lower success rates in school. WHY?, look at the parents, their beliefs and values allow children to think it is OK to fail in school. The ones that succeed despite the odds, look at the parents, they have instilled a value and belief of the importance of education in the children.

So get off your hate wagon for Hanlon and the schools, get your head out of the sand and start realizing our school age population and home status in a lot of cases in Painesville is not that much different from cities like East Cleveland, inner city Cleveland, southern Ohio poor counties, etc.

As a community we can't start helping the kids until everyone realizes its more of the homelife and up bringing than the schools and teachers.

Painesville finally got the attendance up to standards, and I remember when some people complained because the schools "rewarded" kids for being there.

It isn't easy helping a diverse group of students like Painesville has and people like some of those on this blog that just want to complain and hate don't help one bit.

If you really want to be a part of this city quit your complaining and instead start asking how you can help.

The 50% grading policy is the least of the problems with the school board. It is not just the 50% grading policy.

We read the books that were recommended by the school board. We had to special order the books as Morley library did not have a copy of any one of the three recommended. We ended up borrowing Mr. Fodor's. How many people even were aware they could read up on the policy?

We went to the meetings and they were a sham. (Sham, the root word of Shame)
When you were in school I bet you had to read the story; "The Emperor's New Clothes". If you didn't go to Morley Library, they do have a copy of that book.

Even after both my husband and I read the books we cannot defend the 50% grading policy.

So go ahead and explain your take on the 50% grading policy.

At August 26, 2009 at 6:24 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Anonymous 5:21, you are so wrong on so many levels. First of all you say the attendance was brought up. Gee, do you think that is because they now take attendance 3rd or 4th period so they can count all the kids that come late. That's not dealing with the problem or correcting a situation. That is doing the same type of masking that the 50% grading policy does. Also, whether we have more than our share of non speaking students, I want my american child to have the education I pay for. The immigrants are not paying taxes to the school. I am and my child has suffered. If these immigrant children need extra attention, don't take it away from my child. Make them come in before school (oh, that's right, they can't get to school on time, let alone early) or make them stay late. They should be able to handle that. Again, my child's education is suffering. So don't you preach to me. I am dealing with this crap every day.

One of the important factors that is missing from these ratings is a breakdown of educational standards by race and gender. Will it offend some people, absolutely, but my children attend Chestnut Elementary School and I couldn't ask for a better group of educators for my children. It's not the school system people..it's the students and parents who don't give two cents about their children's education and future.

And as for the upper white middle class students of Mentor or Riverside..gimme a break. We have the largest amount of welfare recepients in Lake County..

To the Anonymous posting at 5:33pm, “Our kids will not learn as long as the class is upset over the non Americans”, why would you make such an ignorant and racist statement? How different is this statement than the racist remarks made in 50’s and 60’s about blacks? Fortunately, segregation was ended years ago and our parents were able to attend classes with other diverse group and end the personal biases that society was trying to force upon us. As long as the child sitting next to my child in class is motivated and driven to excel and prosper in life, I don’t care what their skin color is or what country they came from. I think we have more than enough “Americans” people living in this country who don’t appreciate what our country’s forefathers had to endure to make us the greatest country in the world..maybe they should go live in some foreign land.

I find it ironic that people get this angry of their child's education somehow being effected by a non-English speaking child, but have little to say when schools are forced to integrate special needs or behavorially challenged children into regular classrooms. Ask Kirtland about their problems.. My daughter complains more about the special needs child that bangs his head into his desk and rocks back and forth in his chair throughout class than the Hispanic child next to her with limited English skills cause the state requires these kids to be in regular classrooms.

Be honest, if next week our government made everyone in this country legal all the people hating "illegals" would just continue hating "Hispanics" but would no longer have what they think is a socially accepted reason for their prejudice.
In my world I am totally against "illegals" but that has nothing to do with "Hispanics". How about you guys attacking illegals start getting on the Eastern European illegals, how about the Russian illegals, Chinese?
Better yet, you complain about what illegals cost us, you know why our Fed Government doesn't want to do anything about illegals?, because in the long run after all the government subsidies and programs we give to "legal immigrant" groups the illegals are cheaper.

Look at the problems as soon as you get off of SR 2 onto Richmond..look left at Fairlawn..Lawnview..Chardon...go up to E. Prospect..Nebraska..looks horrible. But who do the building inspectors go after, residents in the North and South end for weeds by the sidewalk and some peeling paint on my shed. Better yet..drive down to Storrs and look at the City Garage..the whole building is a zoning violation..but who cares about that. A comical thing about the electric division building..look at the metal plates and bolts on both sides...been there for years. Their to keep the building from toppling sideway..see if the city would allow that at your business or residence.

That said it does seem to bring up questions about fundings and service provided. The only complaint I have ever heard of this program was cost. The price is the same if you only need your child watched for 30 minutes or 2 hours+. Cost should be adjusted for the time the child is there. Other then that it seems to run weel for the time being. Conflict of interest? Do you think Joe Hada would have brought up at a city council meeting an ordinance to forgive the schools $150,000 in permit fees if his wife wasn't sitting on the school board? Just asking.

The north side of Painesville is so much worse because that is Noelle's area. She has been worthless for years. I too am totally fed up with her citing the person reporting a violation and letting the original violator slide. I know several people who have personally been singled out by her after they reported a violation. This has got to stop. I have a friend who is an attorney. I'm going to ask if he will take depositions from these people as to the misconduct by Noelle. They have all agreed to give depositions if they are not alone, and stand as a group. I am looking into who we can report this to, and ask for an independent investigation. I have a call in to one of the TV crimestoppers,

I'll give a deposition and other people hve told ne they would also like to give one. This form of government control has got to stop. You complain of 22 people living in a single family house, and the next thing you know "here's three sidewalk blocks that need replaced"

THE FOUR RULES OF PAINESVILLE
Pay your property tax
Pay your income tax
Pay your uility bills
AND SHUT UP!

The question is is this Noelle's policy, Rita McMahons, or City Councils?

Term..here is one for you to check into, ask why the rest of the city residents and business have to pay for their false alarms, but surprisingly the city schools don't..hmmm.. And from having inquired at the police department about these alarms..their nearly a daily thing..but hey..who cares..I will pay my fine and be quiet.

Anonymous at 2:25pm..kudos to you for bringing this issue up. This has been ongoing thing for years, she gets a vendetta against someone and will target them for years. I heard rumors years ago that McMillan Builders were giving her hay at a reduced cost..take a drive past that place..cracked sidewalks..peeling paint..hmm the same crap I was cited for.. I recall a posting a while back about the city grass cutting contract allegedly going to someone that was boarding their horse at her place..that seemed to die a quick death.

But nothing will happen, I've complained to her boss about this singling out of the complainant, she liked by the powers to be, so nothing will get done. I will just wait until she visits my house to complain about some "infestation of daisies" growing in my yard..oh well.

Nice article in Lake County Tribune about you complaining about Painesville City owned property. The sidewalk is finally repaired, the greenhouse on Newell St. is torndown. Must admit you got there attention, now for the payback.

I have also had retaliation directed at me for reporting an issue to Noelle. The problem I reported is still there. I will be willing to testify. This is so wrong. I didn't know about the kickbacks she is getting for letting violations slide, but the city should be aware. This corruption is as bad as Cuyahoga County's, just on a smaller scale. Painesville residents, if you are reading this and have had retribution directed at you by Noelle, let's band together. There's strength in numbers. We cannot continue to let Painesville fall into total disarray by the acts of this person. Her supervisors, CM, whoever need to hold her accountable and we are holding them accountable for allowing this to happen. I see this exploding in the city's face very soon.

I'm not sure of kickbacks or corruption on any scale but something is very wrong with Painesvilles violation policy that goes back years. As far as the horse story city hall is mum, I even asked a councilman to ask. No answer.[I thought they were the bosses?] This policy caught my attention alittle over a year ago and I never realized how many people were being affected. The city sites residents and they have a couple of ratholes? I guess 80 million dollar budgets don't cover everything.

I have an idea. Let's all start reporting violations to Noelle. You don't have to look very far in this city. Your neighbor's house, or a few houses away. Call it in to Noelle and document the date and time of the call. If you left a message for Noelle, document who you left the message with or if it was a voice message. Keep good records. Then when you get cited, we will have more ammunition to take to court. And if she actually follows up on our complaints then at least she is finally doing her job. She has collected a big paycheck for too long for doing nothing but harassment. She needs to be fired, prosecuted, but if she just starts actually doing her job, that's a start.

I got a better idea, lets get rid of her bosses and the elected people that put them there. A whole lot easier.

Get rid of Noelle as well as her bosses, but she definitely has to go. Free ride for too long.

Noelle, I'm sure you're reading this. Are you cleaning up your files?

Dear 12:48 maybe you should worry more about yourself then Noelle. Dont think people dont know who you are either! I bet you have documentation correct but like so many other times with when asked to show it you never can come up with. Instead you just make up thing after thing. How many other falsehood have you told of late???

Too many people have had the same experience for this to be a lie. and lots of people I know document their phone calls for any service issue. So I firmly believe this is possible.

5:44 I believe you are telling the truth along with others. I do not beleive that 12:48 is telling the truth. Point I am making dont let one person use you to take the focus of them. There are issue with this anyone who lives here knows that, my concern is that this person will use all of our concerns to take the focus of the issues they are having with the city. IF your going to band together to do it with and attorney.

I know this has nothing to do with the houses but I would like to know why we pay a recreation director when he does nothing to support the local programs, my grandson plays at the park and the fee to play is raised and the service does not, how can you raise feee's and cut service to our children? except for the ones who use the park and pay nothing, they do a good job of tearing everything up. Ok I'm done.

I will be doing a post on recreation in the city of Painesville in the near future. Thanks for the reminder.

Term and anonymous; your gut-less, spine-less, and friggin retard's with poor grammar, and sad dispositions.
This man whom, A. you don't know, (back-slash for impaired morons), B. never met, who coincidentally lives in the same city, provides housing for those who can't afford 900.00 a month. I dare you! Try to live one day in his/her shoes. "Speaking to idiot's in their language" Ya'll ain't gonna make it! Yet, you come online and blog about these houses like some pre-adolescent school girls with a boy complex. I am a U.S. Marine, if wondering... and the landlord has done more good by me, than I could ever do for our country. So, be a man and put your name online. So we can see what types of coward's you are! These Tenants have lives and they live them. Who are you to monitor how they live? Pause for a blonde moment.. Oh yeah, forgot we are in america? Liberty, Peace and Justice for all? How about I smear your names? Better yet, put your addresses up so we can come to your houses. But, you two are simple-minded weaklings. Are you guys shy? Don't worry..I know living at home with your parents comes with its advantages. So, next time you two school girls wanna blog. Save it for facebook!
