'MONDAY MONDAY"

THIS JUST IN

Lake County Board of Elections did NOT certify Arlene Becks petitions. Her name will not appear on the ballot this November. Can she still run as a "write in Candidate"? Will she throw her support behind someone else?

Went to the Unity in the Community Day" at Morse Ave. Community Center Saturday. The people that put this on should be congatulated for a job well done. The nicest thing seened that every school age child got a back to school kit that included some of the things they will need in the coming school year. Its a nice touch to show these children how important an education is to them. Wished there would have been a little more "Diversity" there.
Five candidates for council were introduced. Seems Painesville"s "family" will be the theme this year. Lori DiNallo continues to impress me as a candidate, she seems to be getting more comfortable in her run.

Three different people have emailed the blog. with a rumor one or maybe two city council election petitions were found invalid and these people will not be on the ballot. The Lake County Election Board will certify the petitions Monday morning, will keep you informed.

Just think 16% to 17% of our gross national product goes to healthcare, much higher than those countries who have a single payer system. And one in three dollars is not spent on healthcare. My premiums have been increasing 15% each year!

If we had a single payer system no American would find it necessary to pay for the huge premiums (as high, for a family as over $1,000.00 a month, but anywhere from $300 - $600 for inadequate coverage) they are now paying. Even if taxes had to be raised to some degree, people would probably still be paying less, and getting more for their money. Single Payer system is hard to argue with.

to the healthcare poster, "getting more for their money" -- you better do some research. This is a death care plan. Health care to the elderly will be extremely limited. Health care to handicapped will be non existent. Care will be based on whether the patient will be able to contribute to society. Also, it will guarantee healthcare to 30 million illegals living here. If we eliminated the 30 million then maybe better care could be afforded to be given to all legals. There are so many flaws with this program. Read it. Congress won't bother to. It is available online. Frightening. I have been reading it.

Lori DaNallo will never make headway in the coming election as long as see thinks dragging Abby around is the way to win. The only regret about Abby not running is some of us will not see her lose. I will never forgive her for how stupid she looked on Fox. Anything so she can look important, what did she ever get done for Painesville? but give work to her husband Ray.

Whats really sad is the voice's of the GOP are Palin and Limbaugh. If I didn't know better this is an evil plan by the Dems. to just let the party become a 18 million member regional party. One can't stop winking and the other persons claims to be the richest, smartest human "On loan from God" I can't wait to watch this man meet his maker. Clinton will have to answer for cheating on his wife and Rush and Beck will have to confess for cheating on their country. When did these deadbeats including Clinton and Chenney ever serve there country. A skirt chaiser, drug user, alcholic, and I guy that cant shot a gun without hiting a friend. This is leadership?
Former GOP thats seen enough

I agree the Dems. got more than their share of problem people, Now look in your own back yard and tell me all the GOP is upstanding!!! Corruption doesn't just have a [D] or an [R} behind a name.

I heard last week from a very, very reliable source that Arlene Becks turned in her petitions, and they contained signatures from Mentor, Madison, and other cities. She was told that she still had time to go get valid signatures, and she just said to forget abou it, she's done.

How can someone who's ran before make this mistake? This seems absurd, but I trust this person 100%, and I know you would too Term.

At August 10, 2009 at 5:48 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

TERM definitely has a (D) all over him. Who said R's don't have problems. The thing is, most dems won't acknowledge there is a major problem with their leaders. We police our own! They do something wrong and we get rid of them. You re elect them with honor! so get off your high Democratic horse!

Term may have a {D] but your argument makes no sense,

I think if there is a problem with Arlene Becks paper work (at the Painesville Election board) she deserves a second chance... She has worked so hard for the city and look what the city is doing to her.. Plus being a minority she has so much to overcome!!..Please look the other way and give her another chance.. Who eles will voice there opions at council meetings if she is gone? and she adds a sense of humor too.. If this does fail... maybe council could consider her for a Mayor of Painesville.. That would be the start to a change and put Painesville In the RIGHT direction

9:02am, let's see here:

Bill Clinton, Ted Kennedy, barney Frank, Sandy Berger, James McGreevey, Jesse Jackson, Gary Condit, Wayne Bryant, John Murtha, Jr., Frederick Richmond, Raymond Lederer, Marion barry, Mario biaggi, etc, etc. It is in both parties, but you seem to think it doesn't matter if it is a Dem. Get over yourself!

There is so much wrong with the 10:33am post it just can't be real!!!!

Do people in Painesville actually think that way?

First off every candidate has to follow the rules. I feel bad for Arlene but rules are rule. Can she still be a write-in candidate? I don't know, she underwent some surgery this pass spring and was laid up for a time. not making an excuse just stateing a fact.
We want to get over yourself? I atleast admit that we have some prolems your bunch won't even admit to one. Oh, by the way what made me a blue dog Dem? Two people Nixon, Agnew.

Why do you even try to be civil to some of these people. The GOP is what the choosen party of God? Their plain nuts. Heres one to think about, our Congressman Steven Latourette had an affair with a staffer while still married to the first Mrs. Latourette. The staffer or lobbyist is now Mrs. Latourette number 2. If he wanted out he should have got out before starting something new. My point, If your wife can't trust you how am I supposed to? OH and Steve is a Republican.

At August 10, 2009 at 12:46 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

No, that's the big issue here. You won't admit that you do have a problem. Both parties have problem. I have said that. You don't seem to accept that the dems have problems. Or at least you think they are smaller than any R problem. That's what is so hypocritical about all this. Look at so many of the crooks that O has appointed. Unconscionable!

Here's the simple fact. The Republicans lost and they lost big time. Obama said he wanted healthcare for all Americans he was elected. Just maybe if the Republicans could run a man or woman for President that would care more about its citizens than being corporate H#%$$ people would start to listen. Do you people even realize your party was beaten by a Black Jr. Senator, with hardly any experience to as little as six years ago no one even knew who he was. Is that sayimg more about Obama or less about the faith in your party? You LOST deal with it. Believe me we will get national healthcare.

Yes, Republicans are bad, Democrats are above reproach. Just look at Cuyahoga County politics. How many are being investigated? How many commissioners are not running for re-election, all of them. Care to take a look at politics in Chicago. Those are just two highly visible examples, so if you think all Republicans are bad and all Democrats are good, think again.

I'm sorry for Arlene but just tell me why the rules must be overlooked for her? What if it had been a Republican candidate who wanted to ignore the rules? This blog and 90% of the residents in Painesville would have burned the GOP office and the Board of Elections to the ground.

Anonymous 12:28,

Did this take place in the Oval Office and did he proclaim "I did not have sexual relations with that woman"?

Again, with the typical double standard.

Since Arlene isn't a newcomer to politics, she has no one to blame but herself. An officer of the Democratic Party should have known how to collect signatures. Rules are rules whether you belong to either party or are a member of any race.

Political corruption and or sexual misconduct doesn't belong in politics. Let's face it, Both sides are guilty of both. Most sexual improprieties are not against the law, just very poor behavior, but taking bribes or committing fraud is against the law.

Let's not give any one person or party a free ride to do as they please.

Badger, I see one one here saying Dems are above reproach where did you come up wuth that ? There are good and bad on both sides I even admitted that at the start of the post, do you think most dems. follow Henry Waxman or Barnny Frank? The power in anyones hands is a problem I just wish the F.B.I. would charge some of these people and get on with it.
You also assume aliottle ro much, no one would burn anything.

At August 10, 2009 at 10:39 PM , Anonymous Badger said...

A lot of people here would so outraged that they would like to. You know from my past posts that I too blame both sides. If you want to hold one party to a certain standard then the opposing party must also be held to that standard.

Now isn't the time to have fewer choices for council but Arlene messed up here. Race or political party has nothing to do with her petitions not being certified. They also don't mean she should get any special treatment or have rules overlooked. I'm sure Arlene knows what happened and isn't asking for anything special. It's the people here who think she should get special treatment who will be shouting the loudest.

The problem is partly the elected officials but mostly ours. We keep electing these bozos.

Badger, your response at 6:46 must be a reaction to the Anonymous post at 10:33.

I to could not believe this post. Who ever made it must know very little about our election process, rules and just why they are there.

With voters who think like this, no wonder our government is so screwed up.

Arlene Becks has only herself to blame for not making the November ballot. She has run twice before and she cannot say she didn't know or that she fixed it before. The only way she could have made corrections is if she was the one who signed the pettition. They should charge her with fraud and take her to court for all the errors. She was informed over a week ago that she had problems with her pettitions and she should go out and get more signatures, she said "it was too much trouble", that's how she cares for what happens in Painesville. She was too lazy to go out or get helpers to go out. She got just what she deserved. She is a disgrace to Ppainesville.

First off for more people to see this just maybe you should have posted it under class act.
I don't believe you have the correct facts because I have to much respect for the Lake County Election Board. I can't believe they would tell Ms. Becks to get more signatures, and then tell you about the conversation.
Once you turn in your petitions there turned in. Are you accusing the election board of wrong doing. If this is true please inform the right people.
You are the one that is a disgrace to Painesville.

TERM, I think you are jumping to conclusions. I didn't pick up from this post that they were implying anything about the BOE. You had an earlier post that said "She was told that she still had time to go get valid signatures, and she just said to forget abou it, she's done." I think maybe they read that as fact.

You are wrong they will go over them with you before they are turned in, and let you know if something is wrong, I think this is what Ms. Becks did.

Oh, and one more thing they have to tell you what is said, if you ask.

At August 14, 2009 at 9:28 AM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

I checked with the BOE and when Mrs. Becks brought her petitions in before they were time stamped the BOE did suggest that she may want to wait until the deadline and get more signatures because just looking printed signatures are not counted. Mrs. Becks did have a chance and get more signatures but she seemed to think she had more than enough. That person was right to say she was given a chance to get more signatures and "it was to much trouble"
I was wrong. I didn't think the BOE did that.
I was told if you had enough signatures in the past they didn't tell you your mistakes. SORRY!

I have no excuse for being upset other then to tell you I see many more posts then than I post on the blog.. I can't get over the glee with some people over the setback of another. "Hey did you here Arlene can't run for Prom Queen, She failed English Lit." Are we grownups or are we children all these posts come with some profanity knowing I won't post them but I still read them. I have forwarded some to people and asked what are they so angry and selfish about? Arlene did the class thing, and she will surface in the future,
A wise person once told me you get very little satisfaction out of the failure of others.
