"SCHOOLS OUT FOR SUMMER"

A very interesting story in the August 10,2009 Cleveland Plain Dealer.
R.P. Carbone goes kaput, and the assets are now property of Scaparotti Construction Group.
Dr. Hanlon was interviewed and he stated that it seems to be "a fairly seamless" transfer for the final faze of construction of Painesvilles Harvey High School.
Dr. Hanlon is now an expert in building construction. Maybe the board should hire an independent contractor just to make sure. Theres been alot of change order requests.
Vincent Carbones conviction for bribery had little to do with Carbone Counstruction filing bankruptcy. Right.
Carbon Construction allegedly is involved with Cuyahoga County corruption investigation.
I'll never forget the time at a school board meeting Mary Hada stated how wonderful it was to deal with Carbone Construction. I wanted to tell her from another Dago to smile be happy but keep your hand on your wallet.
The full story is online written by John Caniglia.{Whats with all these Italians}

There should be someone outside looking to make sure no corners were cut. I've heard storys from some of the men that have put the roofs on some of these schools.

Never tired of picking on the illegals. They never seem to tire of coming here and breaking our laws!

There are a lot of people watching what is going on, to make sure things are going right.

Term just wants to fire everyone up.

I wonder if the School Board had hired someone to check things out if Term. would have been up set about the cost ?

And Dago, is not right on any part.

No, I think the school board should be very deliberante right now. Check with the East Liverpool Board of Education what happened at North Elementary School. Shocking!
Maybe Carbone was just getting things fired up.
I apoligize to all my fellow WOP's out there. Please forgive me. O.K.

In case you let things pass you by, Term was poking fun at his own nationality.

I'm not sure why this is a surprise to anyone. Carbone has made it well known for a while that the Hotel in New Orleans hammered by Katrina had put them in financial difficulty.

Add on top of that the current condition of the economy and I can see why they are reorganizing under chapter 11.

The surprise is no chapter 11. They have gone out of business.Period. Please read the story.

Read the story about North Elementary, I little girl got a shock from a lose wire. Thing like this happen in new construction. You act as if Carbone Construction did it on purpose. She only went to the hospital as a precaution.

Just a little shock? How would you feel if that was your daughter. We had a terrible incident a few years back at the Lake County Fair, a family lost a son. Keep sticking up for them, I'm not buying anymore school board crap. Who's watching? Alot of what people?

At August 14, 2009 at 9:30 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

If Carbone is out of business what recourse would the schools have and against whom?

At August 14, 2009 at 1:29 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

What part of Mr. Hanlons degrees makes him the expert on building construction? just asking

At August 15, 2009 at 6:52 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Hanlon's degree must be in building construction..based on the school's continuing poor academic ratings, it surely isn't in the education field. I find the 50% grading rule a pathetic joke..there just comes a time for new direction in our school administration..like now.

At August 15, 2009 at 11:21 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Please explain the 50% grading policy.

At August 15, 2009 at 2:40 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

You are probably better off calling the board office or the high school. but lets say you take a test with 100 questions and you only get 10 right, 10% NO you never get less than 50% grade even if you just sign you name. What I would like the school board to do is put a camera down the main hallway at Harvey run it during school hours and the people could see what a zoo their paying for.

At August 15, 2009 at 3:13 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

The 50% policy allows a student to walk in the room, sign his name on the test, tell the teacher "you have to give me 50%, bye" and walk out. This happens. You may say "50% is still failing", and it is, but say the student actually does take one test and gets a C. Then when it is averaged in with the 50% tests they end up with a passing grade. Not a high grade, but they still pass. This is the way Hanlon has assured that more kids will pass and graduate. Not that the kids are learning more, just that the grading system is lowered. How much more can they lower the system to accommodate slackers? It is unconscionable that they have shoved this down the parents throats as a "good thing". The dumbing down of society -- the dumbing down of Painesville. Come on Painesville! We are better than that! It is time we stand up and demand what we deserve -- what we are paying for through the nose.

Time to worry if Hanlon has a 50% grading policy, he probably along with the board of education have a 50% building program. Doesn't work with construction and it doesn't work with education either. SAD

At August 15, 2009 at 3:27 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Heres's a new policy idea. its called the 100% policy.
If you come up with stupid ideas like this you must send 100% of your children to Painesville City Schools. Not such a great idea is it Dr. Hanlon, Mr.Fodor when your children would have to be subjected to this.

At August 16, 2009 at 8:10 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

How can any citizen have any faith in the Painesville School Board, if the leaders of the administration do not even send their children there? Sorry, but thats all telling.
Dr. Hanlon should have never received his job, unless he was willing to make a commitment to the people of Painesville. Lets hope the school board never makes that poor of a chose in the future.

At August 16, 2009 at 8:18 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Beware Painesville! This is the same KABUL that now wants to take control of Painesville City Government. All this is not an accident.

At August 16, 2009 at 3:40 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

How many out there know that Dr. Hanlon doesn't live in the city? How many do you think even care? To alot of Painesville people the school is nothing more than a Glorified Babysitter"
WE deserve our low ranking.

I would like to quote Dr. Hanlon........

"we can only teach what we are given"

I don't know about you but my husband and I gave him our best. We offered time and energy only to be turned away at the high school level.

The elementary and jr. high was much better at dealing with parents but until this school system finds a way to get parents back into the system, this system is sunk.

This administration has tunnel vision when it comes to teaching kids. The teachers hands are tied. Go talk to a few, I would start with Mr Grippi over at the high school.

At August 16, 2009 at 7:32 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Please, lets not start throwing the teachers under the bus. Someone told me the administration doesn't like hearing critics. Yes and if you had a child that excelled their classes were at 6:00a.m. WHY?

Can't believe they are putting the principal they pulled because he drinks and drives to much, (got caught more then 1 time, it was in the NH paper)back as the principal of Elm Street.
To keep him out of the lime light they put him in charge of the pre-school and Migrant program, for the last 2 years.

Who is the new principal at Elm St. School, and can I have a short resune?

Post my comment Term.
His record is public, what I posted is truth, let it be knowen.

Who's record are we talking about? Just give a name and we can do the research ourselves. That's fair.

The new principal of Elm St. school
the one they pulled from State st. school for his drinking and driving problem.

There is a woman listed on the web site as the principal at the school. Has she been replaced by this man with the drinking problem and they haven't listed him on the website yet? I am confused.

Yes they have.

I will look into these claims, but I must ask if you know this and are concerned why haven't you been to a board meeting and let them know your feelings. They are the people in charge and the ones that can change things.

At August 20, 2009 at 5:20 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

why did you not post his name ?

At August 20, 2009 at 7:00 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

http://www.mentormunicipalcourt.org/cgi-bin/search.cgi this website says "invalid". Can you post the site again? Or what is the name?

At August 21, 2009 at 8:07 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I couldn't get into that web link either. Please correct what is wrong with the link or give us the guy's name. The school site still shows the woman as principal. If school is starting in a few days why do we not know who the principal is?

At August 21, 2009 at 9:35 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Call the school board and ask who the principal at Elm is this coming year. They will answer your concerns

At August 22, 2009 at 7:36 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Why wont you post his name Term ?

We all know how you love your booze, is that it ?

First off I don't know where you think I have a drinking problem, If the spirit industry depended on me they would go broke. Why not mention the persons name? I couldn't verify the facts.[web site link, didn't work] Some of you know more then I do. If it is true is he entitled to a second chance? Is he cured of his addiction? How will this affect his performance? I don't have any answers to these questions.
Are some of you questioning the administrations judgement?
