Thank you for posting this. I have heard about this video for a long time and it is even worse than I imagined. Abby, you ought to be ashamed of yourself. Now I see why people are saying that you are responsible for Painesville being a sanctuary city. You contributed greatly to this problem --now step up to the plate and do what's right and rectify this!

It seems that this happen a while ago. I hadn't heard about this but am shocked at seeing something like this was ever said on TV. But for anyone saying he/she is a Painesville City Council person and to make statements on national TV like this is either just looking for publicity or is actually speaking for city council.
This interview is clearly about ILLEGAL Immigration and for her to say Painesville welcomes them and that the city/county recognizes the Mexican Matricula Consular ID surely not interested in what is best for our city/county. I heard that the Lake County Commissioners passed a resolution to recognize this fake ID, too. This can't ask don't care policy is going just a little to far in my opinion. I am eighth generation Ohioan and I have to show valid ID for almost everything I do so why is Painesville saying basically we don't care if you have a valid ID or not. This is fraud.
Maybe Hal is going in the right direction.
Maybe it is time to get more new council people.
Maybe it is time we get new commissioners too.
This Grassroots group might have a good point. Expecting everyone to have proper ID and obey the law isn't to much to ask or being a racist. It's doing what's best economically and legally for your constituents.
Time for people to wake up and get involved in the upcoming election and the next city council election. People, start doing your homework and asking questions.

Is it true that illegals are eligible for the LCCDC grants provided by our government to purchase homes? And isn't one of our councilmen on the payroll of LCCDC. I can see why that councilperson would want the illegals here.

I wish we could see the whole interview before they did there edit, you could tell from her first answer it had been edited, I have been interviwed by TV people and they made it sound like I said something else.
First of all; this is a NATIONAL Show, not local but NATIONAL. This was broadcast not just in Ohio but across the nation.
Her first sentence; "the community welcomes and embraces..." is ridiculous! Wow!

I have said it before guys..."they are here, get used to it". If this problem was bad enough for the Federal government to care don't you think that they would actually deport someone once in a while. Don't you think that there is enough money for a big fence at the border? The feds don't care truly and we here are left to pick up the pieces. At least this County, not just P'ville, is profiting from a problem that has and will exist here. Gee, lets spend 10 million dollars trying to get people out, who will only change their name and come back, wasted money as far as I am concerned and the figure was made up. But, lets take their money that they earn and make our town look nicer in the process, yeah that sounds foolish...NOT!
You guys miss the big picture here, the USA is going to let all of the Mexicans come here and then we are going to take over Mexico and have a great vacation place. We are enlisting all of the illegals and will promise them citizenship if they fight for us. Maybe it's true, maybe not.

I would say get involved with the next presidential election. By all means get involved with the next city council election but we have a big one in a couple months for the real policy makers. It is a federal issue after all.

Ok so we see where abby is on this, but what can all of council do? As a group of 7 voting, or maybe 6-1 if abby opposes it, what can they vote to do that would solve this problem?
First off I am not John Murphys Campaign Manager. John is his own, and he will not accept contibutions to run for City Council. That being said I consider John one of my best friends and if he asked me to knock on doors, deliver signs ect. I would do anything to help him get elected. I don't even think John would want me around when he runs. The last election different people came up to him with information about Mr. Fountain. I advised John to introduce himself to people and talk about his issues and views of Painesville. Keep things above board, its a city election. Next thing I know Dale Fellows and the Republican Party starts doing phone bank calls in Ward 3? Its a non-partisan position. Saturday before the election a flyer comes out saying thing like Murphy wants to raise Council salary to $20,000 a year. Even if John wanted to do this ,its an near impossible to do. He's new to the city ect. This from a Councilman I have always respected. John laughed and said "I'm glad you know how to do this stuff" Why did I bring up contributions? When I wanted to donate to his campaign he told me to take that money and give it to a shelter, or a church. I have taken his advise.
Please do not view this as an attack on Mrs. DelaMotte, but people need to know why things are like they are here in the 'Ville.

John Murphy is planning to run for council. He's not hiding the fact. He is getting his campaign started but has not filed yet.
Now, WHO is going to run as Term, Batman, MadPotter, etc. These are just blog signatures. Some people know who some of these people are and maybe most don't. If you don't like John, fine, don't vote for him. At least he and Term are using their own names and will stand behind what they say. The rest are hiding behind anonymous or some blog name. What are you hiding from or afraid of if you can't post your own name. If you plan to run for council, why hide?
Term says he will not run for council. There is also a thing called dirty politics. It is easy to play this game here because there is no way to know for sure who posts what. You can sign any name or just use anonymous. Also, people seem to THINK they know who makes each post. I don't think so. Saying someone said something that you have no way of confirming is just as bad as posting using someone else's name.
You can agree or disagree with Term and John, but at least you know who they are. So far, they seem to be the only ones willing to use their own name.
Abby can not deny she said what she said and must be considered in the next council election. Just as Horvath's letter to Senator DeWine in the last election. He signed it and was on a Painesville letterhead and later admitted Veronica Dalhberg actually wrote the letter. Another reason to ask questions.
I will continue to use my screen name since I have no political ambitions but just want to keep up with what happens in Painesville.

I for one would not even entertain the thought of running for council. It would mean giving up so many things near and dear to my heart and I am not ready to do that. I do not want my phone number & email posted on the city website for every resident to call if they had problems. Usually I would tell folks the city is not going to solve your problem so best to get busy. I have very little tolerance for much complaining. Same with school...... oh your kid is failing well maybe you should go to school...... see it just wouldn't be good for anybody. Especially the dog....... he likes me here.
I started out with best of intentions to get involved with this city. I volunteered and just found the government moves so damn slow I would be dead before I would see any changes. My business sure doesn't work like the city does. Somebody needs a dinner set; I'm on it! Somebody needs a sewer line, we table it 3 times and then think about it until it's an emergency.
My income is needed by my family and the salary of council would not cover my losses as a business.
I vote, I occasionally show up for council meetings, usually in the winter, and I am concerned about issues confronting the schools and the city.
Every thing I seem to be concerned with, the city is not.......... Jeeze I have enough boulders to push up a hill without tackling city issues.
Also after seeing some of the posts on this blog why would anyone run? Just strap a target to your butt.
Bottom line I am a potter and gardener..... Period.
The world needs another politician like I need another woodchuck in my yard.

I never meant to say anyone should run for council. I am just repeating what some are saying in this blog. "This person or that person for city council". I did say that John is the only one who is saying he wants to run. I also support Term for running this blog. It is a thankless job and a lot of work. Probably more work than some council people put in. I know he has lived he most of his life. And if you really take time to listen, you will find he cares a lot about the city. So far, I like Mr. Murphy because he says it like it is. Like him or not, at least so far you know where he stands. Not many politicians do that. I still have a lot of time to make up my mind on who to vote for.

To those of you that want a "Positive Blog. go ahead I would like to read about all the good things that happen in town. So is this a "Negative" Blog.? not by design. I truly believe that there are so many outlets and places to get the positive stuff, but not where to get the facts. The goal here is to have a place to air ideas, grievances, and to get facts, to other citizens in town. Not gossip! "FACTS". This is your town and for to long people have thrown their hands up and said whats the use. Painesville has a wealth of good people doing good things for everyone in town. PCIC is one of the organizations I'm taking about. But There is a small group of people here that think its their way or the highway. We as a community cannot lose anymore of the next generation like MP children, we have to have a reason better than Mom and Dad are here.
Tonight I was at a new school ,we can all be proud of what were trying to do to give the young ones in town a good start in life. I will always try to keep "facts" the important goal here. If you don't want to see or read them feel free to go somewhere else for information. Oh jt its good you think of other things besides food.

At the same time we are chasing the homeless from the city. We have multiple people living in the same house but just let one homeless person come to the city and he or she is asked to leave or be cited.
We are arguing over a mayor or city manager while at the same time hiring an assistant for the city manager.
We seem to think a nature preserve is better than a park like Masons landing. The Metro Parks seem to keep that park very nice and it floods just about every year.
Why would our young people want to stay here? What are we doing to keep our youth here and attract more businesses to relocate here.
One positive thing I can see is the way Lake Erie College is growing. Let's hope the new sports bar is a success. This may be just a start. How about this being something positive to build on.
Also, people are already talking about the next city council election. This is what the whole political system is suppose to be like. Voters actually being informed voters.
Let's stop arguing and come up with some more good ideas to bring some good old American pride back to Painesville.

Thanks for all the positive (and accurate) posts about John Murphy and Angelo. Chances are the vehicle you saw with John's name on it was his; and Term's love for Painesville and his involvement with the city is something handed down from his parents. Term's mom, by the way, was was a LEGAL immigrant and naturalized citizen and his dad was the first in his family born in the US. It is time for a change in City Council; the people that have been there forever have lost touch with the local citizenry and whether intended or not, they portray a rather arrogant attitude toward those citizens that ask the hard questions. I have been in retail most of my working career and was always told that the customer is the source of your paycheck. We taxpayers are the customers and I do not believe we are getting the leadership that we are paying for. Every vote counts! (didn't Florida teach us that TWICE) An informed active citizenry is our best defence.

Everyone keeps saying they are not getting the council they are paying for and they need change but what change? What would you do differently? Not just what is bad about the current council or city manager but what would you actually do? Give me something to work with so I can get behind you. You get accused of only being complainers all the time so prove your accusers wrong. Ok you are pushing Murphy but what is on his agenda?
I know nobody wants to hear my song and dance anymore but I do wish council would look at making this city green. I read their "stuff" in the Painesville Pride and they need to do more.

I also like the Township newsletter better than what I get from the city of Painesville. The township newsletter is one page, front and back full of good information. Easy to read and easy to post on the fridge. City has made it too complicated.
How many Hispanics will you see at Taste of Painesville? How many non Hispanics will you see and the Grande Fiesta......

When will you all realize they want there own culture, and for you to conform. They want to drive $35,000 SUV's then play dumb at the emergency room. Ask somone who works there, or go watch. Was I the only one who read in the Newspaper about an ICE raid that nabbed 600 illegals at one factory the Legal workers all clapped. I have called ICE about Extrudex in Painesville Hope they do a sweep in early September. Before you remove this at least go look. Take that Manager with you to explain it, my cousin got laidoff because she expected overtime after 40 hours. Thats another Federal law that seems to not be enforced there.

If you think that nothing can be done locally about illegal immigration, then look at Arizona. That state has taken it upon themselves to pass legislation to enforce immigration laws. They have laws to punish employers of illegal aliens. And guess what? The illegals are fleeing Arizona and heading to other states, including Ohio. Yes, we can take action. And we must take action. It is crap that the illegals are helping our economy. Just look at the cost to us for all their medical care, educating their children, higher insurance rates, etc. Please, open your eyes.

Who said anything about NOT helping the residents? When that is over and done, the land will still be there. So we can't share the land with the cute fuzzy aninmals??? Just because Mason's Landing is a park, doesn't mean the local animals don't use it. The way it is now, nothing can be done on it. If only the animals live there is one thing, but if people try to engage in illegal drug activity or other such things, then we just have something else to contend with.

ok, I looked it up. 616 mentor avenue is where one of our councilwomen lives. So what was the deal? Is she going to get off because of who she is? I am very curious about this now. What did she or a member of her family do? Whatever started it, eluding police should add to the charges. Let us know.

The City puts out a "Comprehensive Plan" every 10 years, I read thru it last night and guess what? Not one word about Illegal Immigration. Now either you people are making a mountain out of a ant hill, or that Comprehensive Committee had their heads in the sand. What good is this plan if it does not address a big issue like this. Also I remember a survey the City put out and I don't think it was mention there either. Homeless People, were mentioned, why not illegals? What is City Hall's agenda?

Maybe the comprehensive plan stuck to what the city has the power to control. If you want it on the agenda I will repeat the same question that has been repeated many times above, What would you do? What action would you take?

All I did was go to the Police Station and ask, that was tough. And over all the speculation I found that they pulled a guy over for expired plates, Oh the horror! And I love the way that the police "Swept it under the carpet", do you want to know how? They gave him a ticket and a court date. This town is going to hell, I just can't believe how terrible the police are and all the cover ups. And by the way, he had no relation to the people at the house where he decided to pull off the road. This took me two minutes and the people at the station were very nice to me.

Sorry to disapoint some of you,the only part of this post I had anything to do with was removing posts that weren't proven. I'm glad Abbey and her family had nothing to do with this. To the poster who said he knew it wasn't her, why didn't you post that fact? The only "fact" was that the Police chased a car into her driveway.Some of you were so upset I was deleting posts, make up your minds please. jt has a wonderful site, or please feel free to start your own. If a post gets deleted after one has been posted I leave it so peole know I deleted something. I can delete that way or Delte a post as if it never exsisted. To prove this I will delete the post "I say it" as if it never was here. I am doing everything to keep false information and profanity off this site.
I've known you can do it, I think it is helps the blog's credibility to show the post was deleted. The question was why you deleted your own post.

Wow, been a while since you guys heard from me huh? I have been reading, just too hot in here sometimes. I am glad to see that this was resolved but I will say to the poster that discovered the facts, did you have to call everyone losers? Just because they voice opinions does not make them losers.
I agree with free speech and TERM does a good job editing his site, it is hard to keep up with and mine in small. I agree with deleting but leaving to show it was deleted. Proves that TERM is there and paying attention. Who want to blog if they are just responding and no one is paying attention right?
