Question what is Amendment #43-08 and why is the Fire Truck at the Sewage Treatment Plant? Thank-You

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO THE APPROVED JUDGEMENT ENTRY RELATING TO MENTOR VERSUS SHAMROCK/PAINESVILLE.
For over a year the City of Painesville, Shamrock Business Center Ltd. and the City of Mentor have been meeting with a Court appointed Special Master to discuss issues surrounding the development of the 300 acres Shamrock Business Center and the 2003 Court approved Judgement Entry. On Monday July 14 Mentor City Council approved an amendment to the entry which has been discussed in the meeting that permits additional residential development in the 300 acre Shamrock Business Center. The Legislation passed by Painesville City Council approved the Amendment to the June 6,2003 approved entry.
FIRE ENGINE
The Fire Engine is being stored at Wastewater Treatment Plant because the plant is secured and there is space to store it. It will stay there until it is determined how it will be disposed of- public or on line auction.

Thank-You City of Painesville for the answers.
Help me here. Does this judgement mean Mentor said we can build more apartments, condos, homes in the Shamrock "BUSINESS" Center, but not any businesses can be located there? Is this judgement the reasons their are no stores going into that location? I have always been told Residental Development costs a city more than it takes in?
My only answer to the Fire Truck question Isn't the Fire Station secure? It even has a roof.

If I remember right when this started I think Mentor was objecting to the additional traffic that large of a residential development would generate on Heisly and Jackson. HA HA, thats a good one Mentor objecting to a development because of traffic!

My personal opinion is they tied the area development up in court so they could get Wal Mart to build on the Mentor side of that area and not the Painesville side. Wasn't it amazing how quickly they settled it once Walmart committed to the Mentor land.

No one talked about Walmart on the Painesville side.
And it was not about traffic.

Do any of you read the paper ?

It was in there, it told the whole story.

There you go.

You can't make Term. happy no matter what.

No there was a lawsuit filed by a Mentor resident who didnt want Wal-Mart to build in Mentor. Oh but he was tied to Shamrock Ltd. Why is Mentor dictating anything to us in the first place. I never saw this mentioned on the council meeting on channel 12 why was it cut out?

Term. What was your question to the city about the fire truck? Maybe you needed to ask why it was stored at the treatment plant and not in a garage or fire station so it would be indoors. You know, talking to a city official is like talking to a teenager. They will give you as little information as possible.

If Term. would ask the Fire Chief I bet he would tell him why it is there.

I know this Fire Truck thing is getting old to some of you, because I keep harping on it. It burns me to no end that we disgard a useful piece of equipment in this manner. Its not good enough for us if its repaired properly but we will sell it to someone else to use. I would really like to here from some fireman if I am missing something here. We will soon be building another fire station somewhere in town and would this unit make a good backup unit or not? When the train derailment happened last year by Heisley Park would it have been useful out there instead of a new $350,000 piece of equipment. I have shared an e-mail with the Fire Chief on another matter and he seems to follow administration policy to a "T". and I respect his views.

how about us having unity on council LET US ALL BE INVOLVED IN PREPARING THE NEW 2009 BUDGET. this would be good improvement for the future. A CITY EMPLOYEE...

So Painesville answered the questions when asked and also in what looks to be a quite timely manner. Has this method of contact been tried before? Might be a good method to continue using. Looks like they are as disassociated from the people and their reputation on this blog led me to believe.
“I have always been told Residental Development costs a city more than it takes in?” Is this true? Where did you hear this? I wonder why that is.

“Do any of you read the paper ? It was in there, it told the whole story.” I only get the Times. What did it say?
“You know, talking to a city official is like talking to a teenager. They will give you as little information as possible.” I applaud the city for answering quickly and concisely the question that was asked. Maybe your question should have been better. From the post it looks like they answered your question just fine. This CAN be an ongoing discussion. No need to assume they are hiding things from you, just ask a follow up question. Geez. This criticizing of the answer is what leads me to believe you are biased against every action the city takes. It really does look like nothing is good enough for you. That may not be the case but that is how it comes across. Maybe we should propose questions here and brainstorm everything that needs to be included before asking so there will be less complaints about the answer. I am willing to help
IS the fire truck useful? I don’t know its condition. All I know is I want good fire service and I am not willing to risk my family’s safety or my own to a substandard truck.
“how about us having unity on council LET US ALL BE INVOLVED IN PREPARING THE NEW 2009 BUDGET. this would be good improvement for the future.” You are kind of jumping topics on me. As a city employee are you saying your department should be involved more in the budget? This could be a good discussion. What department and what are you looking for in the 2009 budget?

The fire truck was discussed at a council meeting last year. Go to the city website, agendas, and look at the city manager report item 5 for Aug 20th 2007, there is a full explanation there.

I believe this city does a good job of providing info, it's just that they don't spoon feed it to those who aren't savy enough to actually take the time to look for it.

City did answer back timely this time. Maybe the questions wasn't hard. I have waited 3 weeks for an answer and received a run around. My questions obviously was not something they wanted to answer. I still have no resolution or answer. So anonymous, don't act so high and mighty. You do not know the whole story.

Maybe they can't answer your question or they are looking for an answer.

But I bet by the way you sound, it was a worthless or dumb question to start with.

You are so arrogant. There is no way you can tell if this was a worthless or dumb question by the way I sound. You are so arrogant.

“City did answer back timely this time.”
Yes they did ant this is the only part of the story I saw. If there was more then tell me your plight. Who did you ask, what happened? I was only saying that this is probably a good method for getting questions answered that should be used in the future. Impliedly, whatever methods you were using before weren’t that great, but at least we have a proven method now for getting answers.

“Maybe the questions wasn't hard. I have waited 3 weeks for an answer and received a run around.”
Well see I still don’t know what your run around was. 3 weeks is still inside the time frame from one meeting to the next right? Let’s not pretend any government operates efficiently, but as far as I can tell if you ask a question by email they can get you an answer in 1 day it seems pretty good to me.

“My questions obviously was not something they wanted to answer.”
The answer seemed benign enough, I don’t feel the need to accuse wrong doing. Why would they need to avoid giving you an answer? I fail to see the scandal here worth hiding. You have this foregone presumption that they are evil. Nobody is out to get you man.

“I still have no resolution or answer.”
Well apparently the answer was there the whole time. “city manager report item 5 for Aug 20th 2007, there is a full explanation there” If you are not satisfied then ask a follow up question. I even offered to contribute to a post brainstorming questions to be asked.

“So anonymous, don't act so high and mighty. You do not know the whole story.”
See you try and insult me when I say the city did a good job of answering an email. I am not acting high and mighty. I could argue you are acting high and mighty but I won't. I’ll admit I don’t have any of the answers either and I am even willing to help you. In response to the post above there is no such thing as a dumb question and asking questions of the city is good. I may play devil’s advocate but I think there has to be a recognition of a middle ground between “the city is evil” and “the city always does a good job”. I have never believed the city always does a good job, don’t get me wrong, I just don’t think they are always evil.

Now as far as answers, I know one person doesn’t have them all, but I asked a couple questions of posters yet to be answered. They are benign neutral questions but if anyone knows the answer please post:
“I have always been told Residental Development costs a city more than it takes in?” Is this true? Where did you hear this? Do you know why?

“Do any of you read the paper ? It was in there, it told the whole story.” I only get the Times. What did it say?

I have other questions in other posts that have yet to be answered also and I think they add to the discussion. They aren’t rhetorical, I thought they were innocent questions from someone who obviously knows less about this than you do.
If the purpose of the blog is to reach more people and educate them then please educate me. Again I’m not high and mighty, think of me more as someone below you trying to see the light, but I’ll warn you, I don’t just adhere to assertions without underlying information.

"I don’t just adhere to assertions without underlying information." but you did just exactly that when you said "But I bet by the way you sound, it was a worthless or dumb question to start with." Do not imply I am dumb. You have nothing to base that on. I do have enough to base on calling you arrogant. And you must be using up a lot of the city's time monitoring this web set. Is this part of your job description?

Whoa Whoa Whoa, you are mixing me up with the other anonymous. I am not implying you are dumb. I tried to distinguish myself from that guy by saying "In response to the post above there is no such thing as a dumb question and asking questions of the city is good." Also I am not a city employee, no idea where you got that.

This is from the guy that pointed you to the Fire Truck answer.

Here's another answer, why does residential development cost more than it takes in?

No matter what kind of development you build there will be nearly the same cost of running basic sewer, water, electric to the development.

Because the city runs the utilities just to make enough profit to pay for install/upkeep a residential area will take forever to pay for itself because the amounts used just aren't that large. Put in a huge commercial or industrial site and the usage goes way up, more profit pays for the installation faster along with it generates income tax for the city.

No one called you dumb, they just said you must of had dumb questions.

And by the way you got so upset, they were right.

At August 8, 2008 at 8:42 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Ok just real quick. I appreciate the answer on how a residential development costs take longer to recoup. And for the record I don't think the questions were dumb. To distinguish myself I will try to think up a cool nickname... Ok I got nothing but I will come up with one.

The answer to the Fire Truck question? No.5 Aug. 20, 2007. Just how long does it take to dispose of used equipment? Term just showed you that they cant even get ride of something they havent used in almost a year.

At August 9, 2008 at 5:12 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I think they tried to sell it but no one wanted it, the frame was rotted to much to repair, they are trying to sell it for as much as they can.

Do you want them to use it and maybe crash on the way to a fire ?

They are waiting for the new one.

They can't use it so why have it at the station.

And I think they need a place for the truck they borrowed, while they wait for the new one.

Do you know this from fact?
Where is the one they borrowed?

I see the Concord truck all the time, and if you would listen, the Chief said they would borrow one.

All the facts were talked about.

The main fact is the truck cannot be used.

How much would it cost to fix? Am I to understand the replacement Fire Truck cost $350,000? Term only wanted to keep it for a back-up anyway. If its junk why keep it?
My God He's got me thinking about Fire Trucks now.

"How about Dummy?" Wow that's a little harsh. Resorting to name calling? Nothing like hanging in the realm of intelligent debate. Names have been called on here but I don't know that I have ever attacked anyone is such a childish fashion. Your true colors are coming through.

Is this a last word contest? Post something positive for the blog for people to read and become informed or at least a good debate. This is childish, some stupid name calling feud cannot be good for the blog.

At August 11, 2008 at 5:28 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Sometime I resort to name calling too when I can't engage in the debate to a meaningful degree. If you can't answer the posts then just don't post. Don't attack the person. There is no place for this in a worthwhile discussion of ideas.

#43-08 What does it mean? Who will it affect? How much does it cost us? You will not get those answers without waterboarding someone at city hall. Why do you people even ask?
Why worry about a Fire Truck when people are spending money like crazy?
