"HAPPINESS IS A WARM GUN" beatles
The man in the crowd with the
Multicolored mirrors on his hobnail boots
It's been a few days since the mass shooting that killed 49 people in Orlando.
I don't know anyone pro-gun or anti-gun thought it would be to long before an ISIS terrorist used an AR-15 as his choice of a killing machine.
Look I don't care if you are on this list or that list. If you want to purchase an AR-15 or any assault weapon I want you to go through a complete background search. Hell, a cavity search if necessary I don't care if it takes weeks!
Look you want this weapon be prepared to put up with the inconveniences. There's more. You can't give or sell that weapon to anyone not a stranger, brother, son or daughter. If you do you are a an accessory committed with that weapon. Don't want t? The person must go through the same process you did. If you report the gun stolen, if it ever turns up anywhere that person faces a felony.-
That's not going to cut down on the killings? I beg to differ. Most gun owners are responsible and I am sure most were as sickened as I was as this terrorist walked n and open fire. Well he also had a Glock? Yes but he in no way could cause the carnage that the assault weapon causes. It's called an assault weapon for a reason. What about bombs? What about them most of these clowns are to stupid to build one and bomb making usually must take more than a 'lone wolf'' to assemble. Will it stop mass shooting's? Probably not but in the same way airplanes procedure changed after 9/11 so should gun requirements. We changed how to get into the cockpit, we used Air Marshall's we watched who and what was coming onto the planes. We evolved for good reason.
I see no reason to change the second amendment, yet at the same time this President has had to come out and speak of gun violence 16 times! And I expect more to come. The flag might as well stay constantly at half staff, and these moment's of silence are not making many feel better.
This with my belief; "Those who hammer their guns into plows will plow for those who do not"
Thomas Jeffereson
Also on calling terrorist's this name or that , what does it change? They don't hate you anymore or any less. Call them anything you want!
It is past time for our President ask for a Declaration of War from Congress against ISIS.. Pointing the stages of war his generals plan for, as well as the time this war should take. Also the cost of this war should not come from borrowed money. Pay to play. Let's see how badly everyone wants to go to war? Don't expect Iraq or Iran to welcome us either. All I hear is talk and more talk. "What's his plan",let's say we also bring back the draft with zero deferments! Get everyone involved and a pound of flesh from every American family! Along with some Trumppanzee suggesting our President is in cahoot's with these terrorists!
If Donald Trump can change the NRA position on this issue. God bless him!
Now that would be a Bigly, Shucky Ducky!

There's a federal limit on how much cold medicine you can buy every month. That's because the active ingredient in cold medicine is pseudoephedrine. It is also a key ingredient in making meth. So the feds want to make sure the medicine isn't used for something else.
Yet there's no federal law that limits how many guns you may buy?
You can only carry so many, so what difference does it make.
11:23
It isn't the number of guns that presents the problem, it is the type (fully automatic) of gun that caused this.
BTW, cold medicine isn't part of the Second Amendment and it doesn't have a huge lobby behind it.
1:13/1:36 Maybe you are selling those guns to who knows who out of the trunk of your car?
Worse yet you are buying these weapons for some of your fellow terrorist's?
As you stated you can only carry so many.
The number of guns in this country will never be lowered enough to make a difference. Criminals will ALWAYS get guns. Really bad guns. If you really want results, vigorously ENFORCE the laws on the books. All the laws, all the time.
It's the criminal behind the gun that commits the act.
11:23, just a note, the rifle and the pistol were both semi-automatic, not fully automatic. Small detail.
Assault rifles are fully automatic.
Assault style rifles just look like assault rifles. Small detail.
He was obviously trained, somewhere.
The number of guns you can buy had little effect on this recent crime. He had two.
Winston Churchill and Rahm Emanuel said; "Never let a crisis go to waste." Simple politics used each time there is a high profile gun crime.
Punishing the entire law abiding society for the hennas acts of criminals and terrorists is not the answer, it just feels good.
So am I to understand terrorists will always get guns, so why bother making it difficult? I guess your self importance to acquire weapons should be easier than get a driver's license for you to get were your going to kill people??
full automatic, semi automatic silly semantics. The inventor and developer of the AR-15 designed it to be a military weapon, it was never meant to be sold on the civilian market.(look it up) If you are using one for hunting (other then people) maybe you should take up golf as a pastime?
Yes And he was in possession of to two many. This person's purchase should have set off bells and whistles somewhere! somewhere?
When is the best time to discuss this? After 9/11 should we have waited a month or more to discuss airplane safety? Disney should wait some time before coming up with a plan to keep patrons safe from Alligators? I guess you expect there to be high profile gun crimes as a natural course of events in our lives?
Just feels good? Tell that to the families of Virginia Tech, Aurora, Sandy Hook, Charleston and now Orlando. Look them in the eye and pray no one you love meets the same faith! Just so you can acquire a weapon at the drop of a hat.
Don't worry all this is for show by the GOP the NRA will send a memo over 'problems' a crackdown will create.
and you DO like that campaign check, right?
Term,
In a perfect world, maybe something could be done.
You wrote "So am I to understand terrorists will always get guns, so why bother making it difficult?".
I guess you are missing the point.
Making it "difficult" would only work for people like you and me. The people that want to use them to harm others will ALWAYS find a way.
Even if all gun production was stopped today and the owning of a gun was made illegal worldwide, there are more than enough guns that it would simply go underground and there would be a black market for them. Additionally, as long as weapons are produced for the military and the police there is a black market that will take advantage of that production.
Look, I am not a gun lover. I don't own one and I really don't care about them but the practicalities have to be looked at. There is absolutely no way that guns are going to go away due to any sort of legislation that can be passed. It sounds simple to do but the reality is something altogether different.
I know that you will not agree but I think you are a practical, thinking man. I have to think that even you see that it is not an achievable goal. Even if the GOP and the Dems could make the law happen, very few gun owners would give up their guns. Now all you have done is to make them "criminals".
12:34 First no one wants to make anyone a criminal not confiscating one gun. Does the words 'well regulated' mean anything to you?
No the guns are here and they will always be here. Just let's make it somewhat difficult for someone to acquire one, ie; background checks. There's nothing in the Constitution that protects enemy's of the state is there? What would Jefferson comment be if someone sold a rifle to an imbecile?
Hey, second amendment let him shoot up Boston? No with guns comes responsibilities sorry not everyone should be allowed a gun. If it takes a little longer to acquire one so be it. Very few things in life are not achievable.
Term,
I think we are generally on the same page.
I am not sure where the term "well regulated" comes from in this discussion. If you are meaning the Second Amendment, you need to read it a little closer.
"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
Notice that "well regulated" refers to the militia, not to private individuals. The right of the people is addressed in the second part. In my mind, there is a distinction.
I have no more idea what Jefferson would say than you do. I can't begin to imagine what difference that would make. Do you think that "imbeciles" didn't own guns back then?
In principle I might agree on background checks BUT what about the people that skirt this checks by whatever means they can? Besides, the checks are administered by the same fine folks that brought us safety on airlines via the TSA. Hardly a week goes by that the TSA inspectors don't manage to get weapons past the screeners. So much for "safety".
"Very few things in life are not achievable" Really?? We have a Congress that can't even agree on the time of day or on how to handle a budget and you really think they will do something "achievable"? Good luck with that.
Truthfully I wish there was a simple solution to this but there isn't.
1:23 Here's my problem. Today on CNN a reporter for a Philadelphia newspaper walked into a gun store in Philly purchased an AR-15 in seven and a half minutes from walking in to walking out with the weapon? This happened the day after Orlando. Oh, and she wasn't blonde with blue eyes either. Way to easy. After buying the gun it took her over two hours to turn it in at a Philly Police station. Sorta like marriage easy in, not so easy getting. out. Receipt of her purchase? $759.99 to purchase a killing machine.
Term, 5:21 here.
You are really one sided on this issue. And quite characteristically for many, you know very little about firearms. I understand that, so I will take much of what you say with a grain of salt. I'm not sure what you mean by "your self-importance to acquire weapons ~~~."
Congress does pass legislation from time to time for feel good reasons. There is no problem until it erodes the rights of others. If it were not a gun issue, you TERM would have a problem with eroding someone's rights. But since it IS a gun issue, you don't think that way. When the rights of citizens are concerned, maybe we should weigh the "emotion" part of it carefully.
For 1:23
I suspect you may also know about the language written in the federalist papers and such, where the intent of the 2nd amendment was visited in more detail. Reading these writings blows away most of the "well-regulated militia" confusion, does it not?
People if you want a killing machine just go to any hunter gun safe and pick up his shot gun. This weapon can carry as many as 10 12 gage shells . Each oo buck contains eight 38caliber pellets by 10 that's 380 projectiles in the air. Add that some 12gages can be loaded with a mag. Let's say 10 10 round mags that is 3,800 rounds . That much more killing power than a ar15 . The ar can only shoot one round at a time but a shot gun can put out eight at one time. Now which is a killing machine. Now how many m1 carbines are out there they have 30 round mags. The list just keeps going. Oh the glock can carry a 50 round mag. Think about it......
7:09/ 8:07 Well then why is the AR-15 the weapon of choice. My comment as to "your self importance..." was in reference to being able to walk into a gun store, or show and purchasing an AR-15 in less than ten minutes. You want one, you can have one I just want a through background check! That's all. But now I'm hearing about the fifth amendment? Due process. Look I see nothing coming out of this last killing spree. It those 6 year-olds in Newtown didn't give some of you the idea we have a problem, I don't expect what happened in Orlando to either. My ONLY point is to keep these assault weapons out of the hands of terrorists and unstable people. And that's asking just to much I guess?
5:21 n 7:09 here.
Not at all. Not to much to ask. I agree with you. Our government needs to enforce the laws and systems created to the max. Get those nuts balls in the database. Execute due diligence.
One gun dealer refused to sell the Orlando shooter anything and called the FBI when he tried to buy armor and a gun. FBI did nothing.

1:26 I believe we have all heard this before "We failed to connect the dots" You would think with all the layers of federal, state and local law enforcement this information would have been past off to someone/
