"TIME WON'T LET ME" outsiders

How much time will pass before we find out who will be the "new" Superintendent of Painesville City Schools?
How much longer are we to wait?
Many I have spoken to some who want the board to revisit candidates. Are these three the best choices? Maybe we should continue to interview candidates.

Look in the very near future our present super will be headed to greener pastures. This opening along with the district in need of a finance director, along with up to three principals now is the time for the board to appoint a new superintendent. The assistant superintendent is also pursuing a new job, we might not even have the option of an "interim". So whats the holdup?

Could it be with a renewal levy less than two weeks away the BOE has decided not to name a successor until after May 7,2013 as to not upset  some voters? If this is the reason it's a poor reason and all the transparency might be just talk.

We need to know what direction they want to go in. I am sure after all this time they must have a choice.

So typical of you. The board did it's job and you aren't pleased with the choices? If they had decided to go back to the table and start again you'd complain about that decision too. Why dont you run for a board position? Same reason you won't run for council!?You said the same about the city managers position too. Stand up... run for an office to see how easy you think it is to do someone elses job.

Who claimed I wasn't satisfied with the choices? Please just choose.
Sorry no desire and according to many here very unqualified.

Dont you read what you write? Maybe you dont even write this and someone else does? THIS is what YOUR post says - Many I have spoken to some who want the board to revisit candidates. Are these three the best choices? Maybe we should continue to interview candidates.
The last line leads us to say YOU are not satisfied.

The whole reason for the post was that many of the people I have spoken with wanted the interview process to CONTINUE. Those were their comments to me, not my comments.
Me, I'm satified with the BOE final three candidates I just wish they would choose one.

Someone left a comment on the "YOUR THE ONE" post. Maybe some of you might understand after reading it, my concern to get on with this selection.
Time is not on our side.

A Boardmember told a group of us they hoped to have a new Super named by the end of April. If they don't have a name by Wednesday, I'll start to worry. I listened to all 3 candidates. I graded them as C,C and B+. I hope and pray they name McWreath this week!!!

I gotta be anonymous but McWreath did not get it. So hold on Painesville.

Your the second person with this info. Only can hope your wrong.

Then again it appears we will need all new leadership at the administration building?

So worst case. The superintendent is gone, the assistant superintendent might also leave. No finance director. Principal openings.
Along with a staff not happy wit the boards choice.
We're screwed!

Dr. Moore??? He wasn't my first choice, he wasn't even my second choice.

The RATS are jumping ship!! If the man that everyone doesn't get the job to fix the district the way he has fixed Harvey then a new BOE needs to be elected. People always complain about the decisions they make but they continue to elect the same people. It's time for a change on the board starting with Dillard and Kalb! Mcwreath wants to be a super so if he doesn't get the job here he will be gone anyways

I sat through the superintendent meeting, expressing my thoughts and opinion along with the others that were there. I took the time from my day off, a Saturday to be there. I filled out the comment cards with my thoughts. Many others were of the same opinion as I was and that was Mr. McWreath was the best candidate. That said, I will NEVER attend another meeting or be a part of something like that again if the board doesn't value the community and their opinion. Years ago I was part of a focus group for the new school buildings. Those people did the same thing, took a lot of time to help and when the dust settled the schools were built as Hanlon & Beeler wanted them, not the community. I said then I wouldn't do it again and I gave them a second chance. I hope they don't let me down again.

8:15 Start to worry!

At May 1, 2013 at 6:29 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Seriously? Because the BOE didn't pick your guy, that means they didn't value your opinion?

Guess what? I took time out of my Saturday, time away from my kids, listened to the candidates and have formed a COMPLETELY different opinion then you. I did NOT like McWreath and do NOT feel he is the right guy for the job. So, please stop speaking for everyone.. because my opinion is different than yours.

Oh and by the way the last time I checked, the BOE hasn't even announced who they plan to hire.. so, I'm thinking we should stop with the rumors that seem to run wild in our district and just wait and see.

6:29- I think majority should have a say and the majority have said who they want. I think the opinions of parents and residents should play a huge factor in the decision. pCLS can never change and improve until the mindset at the top changes

May 2.... Nothing new. Worry some more. Friday is thank your lunch lady day.Maybe then the announcement will be made?

Like TERM says "the BOE decided not to name a successor until after May 7, 2013 as to not upset some voters."
Steve Costell has the title President but it very obvious the Kalb and Dillard are in charge.

6:29 PM-It wasn't just MY opinion. The MAJORITY of those I spoke to after the meetings all said the same thing. With the exception of the handful of people across the room wanting the political candidate with the PHD. I hate to think it was a "race" thing, but it was. Had any Hispanics shown an interest and came, they would have been all for Mr. Shepherd.

At May 2, 2013 at 3:47 PM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

1:57 I heard the same thing you did a successor would be announced by the BOE before May?
6:29 Dr. Moore comes with the right credential. My number one fear is he will be another Dr. Hanlon applying to any job before he completes his job here. Dr. Moore has a three year contract with Richmond Heights so if he signs another three year contract with Painesville and say the Warren, Ohio job opens up is it good-by Painesville? I and the rest of you should not feel used. Wonder what Richmond Heights residents feel?
I guess my No.1 priority should be commitment.

At May 2, 2013 at 3:57 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

So you don't want Painesville to know about the fired coach along with the inappropriate behavior?

I thought you would be the most disgusted by this. Who you sticking up for?

At May 2, 2013 at 4:13 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

6:29 here... I find it funny that you are assuming I am all for Mr. Moore when I said I did not want Mr. Mcwreath.

I want someone with a proven track record, someone who can turn this district around, and someone with experience. And for the record, I am a white.

At May 2, 2013 at 6:18 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

God help PLCS if it is Dr. Moore. He has so many skeletons in his closet. You think things were bad under Hanlon, just wait till dictator Moore takes the reigns.

3:57 So I guess we can assume we won't find out who the new Super is along what some coach did? So I'm voting No for those two reasons.
I'm tired of all this and if people can't be honest with us and only demand money. I demand facts and the truth.

I guess they believe we are all STUPID.

At May 3, 2013 at 12:43 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Not to mention the fact that Dr. Moore has been in 17 different jobs in 22 years. That is not even an average of 2 years per position. I am sorry but I don't see the commitment.

6:29 - you are "a white". Interesting choice of words. Cover blown. Just saying.

6:29 Every time I think we are starting to make progress some ones there to close the door.

If anyone n this community believes that the race of the superintendent will make it better for the children of there race better they are in for a surprise. That goes along with if we choose the Super who is not of our race our children's education will be harmed. Your dreaming.

I can site many incidents in our schools history that can prove those facts wrong.

The main things is that all parents express what the importance of a good education is to there future than no one in the schools can do anything for your child.

11:14 Sorry, I'm starting to believe you were just looking for an excuse to vote No.
The school board promised and didn't deliver. They will be given an opportunity to answer. As many of you call me a pessimist maybe I am but what's the reasoning behind the wait.
11:14 I will agree with one point. Maybe they do believe we are all stupid?
I wonder how many others share your views?

People, people, people. If you don't think race plays a factor think again. Remember Ms. Kim Martin? She was a buddy to some and not others. She played favorite with some and not others. She said "hey, waz-up"? to some and not others. She knew exactly what she was doing.

722..,,and now she is Principal of Aspen High School in Aspen Colorado. Check it out, one of the most affluent districts in the country. Who got the last laugh....the school district helps provide housing for teachers because they cannot afford the real estate there...google it....

A looong way from Painesville. I'm worried RH guy will pull the same wool over our eyes, (or already has)...

Aspen, Colorado goes through principals like you go through socks. Cup of Coffee says she'll be gone my next August. She interviews well I'll give her that.
RH guy pulled the wool over some ones eyes he got the RH job in July and they had no knowledge of him looking for a new position.
Check the Warrensville Hts. school site they have welcomed Ms. Ward to fill a job like Mr. Bull's job here. Where's the congrats on the PCLS web site? I guess No news is good news?

I know the majority of teachers were hoping for McWreath but would settle for Sheppard. There was no support in the teachers room during the community meeting for Moore. If the rumors are true and it will be Moore, it almost feels like the board is purposely setting us up for failure. Moore talked like a politician and it felt like he really didn't listen when people were trying to tell him something. If there was concern from the board about McWreath not having supt. experience, then please hire Sheppard and make McWreath Asst. Supt. now that Ward is leaving.
There is a new rumor going round that all the candidates who interviewed for the principal jobs
will not get hired because the new supt. (Moore???) will bring in his own people.

This could be another case of the board and administration trying to bury the coach story? Was the coach fired?

At May 5, 2013 at 9:15 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Watch out for who Moore brings in. He fired a group of white teachers and replaced them with black teachers. He started a whole racial mess in RH.

The Hold-up was not caused by the levy it was caused by first offering the job to Dr. Moore who refused it. Telling McWreath on friday he didn't get the job and now the school board is left holding the bag. Don't buy into there excuses they have none. Oh I wonder if Chardon is aware of the the secret contract by the board for Dr.Hanlon six month $70,000 contract.
Also a coach was let go of there duties at Heritage.

If the BOE rejects McWreath, then I have to believe that they are just idiots. They should really look at the data. God knows they make us look at the data all the time. We loose valuable time that could be spent with our students every Tuesday just to look at the data. Well, the data shows that McWreath has made huge improvements at the HS. He is honest and up front. He doesn't play games of any kind. (including the race game) Everyone is treated equal. His consistency is remarkable and it has made all the difference in the world. If they pick Moore, then they must love racial drama. They must thrive on unrest and turmoil.

3:01 That's pretty much how I'm hearing the story.
To all you people who voted yes today, with the best of intentions.
How does it make you feel that Dr. Hanlon is getting $ 70,000 to help the new super?
RH must have told Dr. Moore not so fast buddy.
$70,000 How many teachers aides teachers, support staff. would that money pay? Yes Chardon should be very happy right now.
Let's hope they don't screw this up anymore Please HIRE MCWREATH.

That's insane! There is no precedent for that(70,000). No school district does that. There is a transition period. If the board failed to keep Hanlon long enough for a transition period then they are stupid.

Do we all remember hearing about the Superintendent in the North Eastern part of the state of Ohio that was given this huge contract recently which had also included paying for his education last year. When this was made public and the community forced the issue the Superintendent gave back his raise. The Board also was in trouble for miss spending public dollars. I would suggest that some homework be done and questions raised as to how our money is being spent. The Board is to represent the community!

At June 13, 2013 at 5:54 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

So what coach was fired at the middle school? Why were they fired? Were they fired just from their coaching job or from their building job too.
Where will we find this 70,000. bonus for Mr. Hanlon at? I thought all board minutes are public record and any time money is spent it has to be in the minutes also?
Where is this information along with this coach? I'm not seeing anything.
