"WARD I TOWN HALL MEETING THURSDAY"

To some of you who may not be attending the big Shindig Thursday night at the Gage House. Councilman Andy Flock's Town Hall Meeting will have our State Senator John Eklund in attendance to speak of his function down in Columbus.

Now might be a good time to question him as to school as well as city funding.
The Governor wanting to bring Obamacare to Ohio.
Changes in voting laws.
Any concerns you might have when it comes to state funding.
An example why the state payed to repave Rt.20 from Fern Ave. to Wood St. and east of the Grand River to Madison. Yet left out Erie St. in Painesville.

This is a good example who Councilman Flock wants you to ask questions of our government leaders.

The Meeting starts at 7:00PM at Elm St. Elementary School Thursday the 25TH.

********************************************************************************************

Sen. Eklund made an interesting  guest. In his presentation he made mention that he no longer represents Painesville? This gerrymandering seems to be getting out of hand?

I questioned him on the reason why our governor would want expansion of Medicaid, Obamacare, or as it is officially know as the Affordable Healthcare Act. He explained we are between a rock and a hard place. All Federal Aid to Hospital care will no longer exist if you don't join in. This will decimate Lake Healthcare,University Hospital's, Cleveland Clinic. Even if you oppose this you should at least know what the consequence's are.

He also explained that school funding was in the Ohio house being overhauled. There plan is that no district would get less money, but no district will get over a 6% increase.

As far as the Bill to change the collection of City Income Tax it seems that Bill has been stopped  due to the number of letters and resolutions sent to Columbus. Sen. Eklund thoughts seemed to believe the State should have no roll in City income tax.

Overall it was an interesting meeting and I for one learned  alot.

Now who is Painesvilles State Senator?

Funny, I have been asking the same thing. That section of road is FAR beyond bad. Time for the City administration to start moving on it.

Flock needs to push him on the the attorney general and AMP investigation.

Nothing is more important.

Seems Sen. Eklund isn't our State Senator. Presently Painesville and surrounding areas have been moved into S.D. 25 Who is presently the Democratic Whip in the Ohio Senate Nina Turner.
Maybe it's time Ms. Turner was invited to a town hall meeting?

Normally the individual in office doesn't matter much to me but, IMO, there is a waste of a human life form. A soap boxer of the highest order. Talk a lot, get the votes and accomplish nothing.

Seem to remember Nina Turner wasn't even on my ballot? How is she now my representative?

9:43 What system other than the one we have in place would work better?
2:28 Thank the Republicans down in Columbus vote for who you wanted last November. This January they gerrymandered the districts for their benefit. Thats how and why you have a new State Senator.
To view how they rearranged these districts as well as our present Congressional districts is a crime. In the last election Democrats had more than 2 million votes statewide. yet we ended up with a 1 to 2 ratio of more Republicans in Congress in Ohio. Go figure.
If you can't win on ideas and people you cheat.

You better heep an eye on this bunch what's next change the electorial college?

OOPS,Fkock thought Eklund was our Senator? So he invited the wrong person because he doesn't know better? Figures.

Term,
It wasn't a comment on the "system", it was directed at her specifically. IMO, she is a lousy legislator.

Regarding the gerrymandering, yes it is 100% wrong to do what has been done BUT it would be done with Dems in control also. NONE of them do the job the right way.

Jeanette Crislip, Township Trustee, worked long and hard to get Rt 20 in the township repaired. She finally got it. Why should she fight for Painesville City? Don't we have our own elected officials who should have done that?

5:41 I was present when Councilman Flock invited Sen. Eklund to his town hall meeting at the time Sen. Eklund claimed to both of us he was our State Senator. OOPS! another faulty Republican who doesn't know his district boundaries. That's what this is all about isn't it?

7:37 There was a measure on the last ballot to take the districting out of the hands of the political parties? It was voted down. She can be replaced in less than two years.

8:28 Presently our leadership is more concerned with two blocks of Main St.

Sorry, Mr Flock is the one who should have done and completed his homework. He did the inviting and he is the one who dropped the ball. It was his idea and he screwed up. Defend him all you want but if a city official had done the same you'd be saying the same thing I am.

When Flock invited him Eklund was our state senator. Look at the map created AFTER the election and see how the residents were treated by the goofs down in Columbus?
Look he came he answered questions he was gracious as were the people in attendance.
What other city offical has ever done what?

Goofs in Columbus, better figure it out soon.
1 out of every 4 doctors has signed onto (ACO) Accountable Care Organization. The number of doctors has tripled recently as the health care system gets further from the fee for service model. Ohioans will not be to happy with legislators that will leave them out in the cold.

Better yet, What have you ever done? Other than sit around and bad mouth any and everyone that tries to make a difference.

What difference?
I watched someone I know do this for 32 years and they hardly have made a difference for the better.

One thing I haven't DONE is cost you money. Think about it.

I didn't know much about Sen. Turner until I read the front page of the Plain Dealer today. I liked what I read. A Senator with a backbone!!!

6;26 Terms just waiting for one of those cushy jobs down at the light plant. Why be a councilman for $6,000 a year?
You have to admit to the fact he hasn't cost us money.

You didn't know much about her UNTIL you read something in the paper and now she is "okay"??
I guess that would explain a bit about how we wind up with the elected representatives we do.

4:18 A newspaper is a good place to start. I learned one of Ohio's Senators was all about family values....until his son told him he was gay. Now he's all for Gay Rights.
Check the newspaper of all the Republican lawmakers in Ohio that had to return campaign donations from the gambling industry.
Please explain how we wind up with these people?

At April 30, 2013 at 9:33 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Because we keep voting for them?

Don't get me wrong, very few are worth anything to the voters. Party doesn't seem to matter much.

At April 30, 2013 at 12:20 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

4:18, the question is, how did Painesville wind up with you?

At April 30, 2013 at 1:00 PM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

4:18 Strikes me as one of those residents that seems to continue to vote against their best interests time after time?
They must be Painesville's 1%?

At April 30, 2013 at 6:00 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

12:20 Think of that all by yourself or did you need help?
You are entitled to your view and I am entitled to mine. My opinion is that Nina Turner is worthless. If we (as voters) are lucky, you will be right.

Term, you know better than that!

So 6:00 why am I not allowed to my opinion?
I know my audience and that was a poke at a few.

I guess you are the only one to pick who is worthless?

TERM, you don't just poke. You go for the jugular. And unjustifiably so most of the time.

Can't wait to expose what our friends down in Columbus did when it comes to payola on the gambling issue. Hey Virginia want to talk about vacation houses, chicken dinner's at weddings and an expensive car? The Virginia attorney general can't investigate the situation because.....He took some of the same bribes. Love the GOP.

TERm 8:38, I am only just reading this. You are totally mistaken. Eklund told Flock from the very beginning that he wasn't his rep, and Flock says "that's ok" and would like him to come anyway. Is this your way of rewriting the facts to disparage a Republican. Try getting Turner to come to such a small group. Even if she is their rep. Has she done anything in Painesville, let alone Lake County? I think one breakfast meeting.

At May 14, 2013 at 2:11 PM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

12:43 I was with Andy when he invited Eklund to a Town Hall meeting. No mention was made that he wasn't our State Senator.
Now that you bring it up if he wasn't our Senator why was he attending the Painesville Breakfast in the first place?
Look Eklund could have called Andy back and explained he no longer was our State Senator, Andy probably would say that's O.K. come anyway.
I did nothing in that post to disparage anyone. We all thanked him for coming.
The lines were redrawn in late January so no one in Painesville even voted for Turner.
Andy has invited her to a Town Hall to introduce herself to the community.
Seems the only one who had a problem with all this is you?

At May 14, 2013 at 8:36 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Senator Eklund does represent a portion of Painesville so why shouldn't he attend a breakfast? I guess I don't get your accusations. And it was made known to Andy that he didn't represent his precinct, but that was ok.

At May 15, 2013 at 5:26 AM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

8:36 You win. Eklund does does not represent Painesville. Andy's meeting to all Painesville residents.
I can only think how lucky we are here in town to have the party in power gerrymander Painesville into two districts.
Conversations with you are probably the main reason I'm a Democrat. What do you wish an apology for asking him to the meeting?
