"ANOTHER PLEASENT VALLEY SUNDAY"

Well this is the final week of football for awhile. The Pro Bowl was even early this year.
The Colts and the Saints, do you care? I'm sentimental towards the Saints and still call the Colts Baltimore. I just don't see Peyton Manning making many mistakes. Colts by 10. My friends and relatives in Pennsylvania are having a "Cleveland Moment" their teams are not in the game, and haven't played since the end of the year. They really care about the outcome of this game. What will they do with their towels. Enjoy the game along with commercials.

I understand Painesville will know who there next Police Chief will be early in the week, maybe Monday. I understand four candidates interviewed. There's even a good chance Painesville could have its first woman chief.

To say I'm disappointed that the mob attack on the Marine home from leave, hasn't been resolved by now in an understatement. It leaves a lot of people in town wondering. Maybe less time spent on silly things and more time on important things?

Trying to figure out if we spent 37 million dollars on wind turbines instead of obsolete coal plants, how much energy could we produce and not even have to be involved with AMP-OHIO. Funny I don't believe those people have the residents of Painesville best interest at heart. Great salesmen though.

Painesville council will have a work session Monday at 6:00pm the public may attend , but will not be allowed to comment. Good chance to see how they make the sausage. Maybe they can work it out.

Attended the Town Hall meeting concerning flooding around the North Ave. Hine Ave. area. The only thing that will make those resident whole are french drains in their backyards, buried storm sewers with drains and curbs on the street. Thats not asking that much after 30 years of flooding.

Profits from Painesville utilities? State law says you can't make any? All you can do is lower your price, update your system or expand it. [pay attorney bills?] Makes you wonder what if First Energy had the same rules.

Learned something today. Yes Blogspot is owned by Google. interesting.

For the police to visit your house about a post on this site in such a short time and the attack on the Marine to go unresolved is just what is wrong with Painesville.

Administration first, citizens a distant last.

Sad, very sad.

Where will the work session be? Same place as council meetings?

Yes, big things happening next for the police department next week as they await decision who the Chief will be. There were five candiates, three Sgts. and two Lts, who applied, all viable candidates with differing degrees of administrative and police experience.

Don't know much about the status in the assault case involving the Marine, hopefully it is resolved soon. Would make better sense with usage of the department's resources instead of their activities earlier in week. I hope this week's matter is now done and some folks have grown some thicker skin in regards to the statements made within these blogs.

What is the agenda for the work session on Monday? By chance, has there been any recent mention of the road conditions on Cedarbrook, almost like driving on a road with speed bumps.

Colts...I don't know, I'm looking for Drew Brees and the Gang to turn up the heat on Peyton and Company. Considering what the fine folks of New Orleans had to endure with the flooding, it would be a sweet victory to savior as a culmination of their hardships and rebuilding of that great city.

Yes, we seem to know more about a perceive threat against a city employee that we know about an actual physical injury to the Marine that happened almost two weeks earlier. More coverup or more afraid to profile in the latter incident?

Inquiring minds want to know.

The meeting will take place at the same courtroom as council meetings.
Yes, Painesville residents must aquire thicker skin for many reasons.
Friday night around midnight, 30 youths at the corner of Jackson and Richmond? Were there any curfew violations, an incident report?
The school system has a rumor and question site, I'll have to start using it. I have more than a few questions to ask?

You have said it in the past. This city operates for three utilities, and 370 employees, period. No answer from city hall the problem will go away.

Seems our safety forces are taking quite afew hits. I blame the safety director. It doesn't make any difference who the chief is as long as lovely Rita, meter reader is in charge.

my understanding is the police acted as a free taxi service to the 30 youths in the midnight incident. No curfew charges, no charges of any kind. How is it decided what children are given curfew violations? Is the criteria being part of a certain nationality? This question needs to be asked.

First Energy can only change its rates by action of the PUCO. Painesville can screw around monthly with their Power Factor.
Theiur should be but one number on your utility bill, how much per Kilowatt.
What did you mean by attorney fees?

Many thanks to KathySak.com for the important information concerning response times and the Closest Responders. Very, very important information that we have been looking for.

So the first of three studies was done in 2000, and nothing has been done yet. Surprise, surprise. This is terrible. McMahon, Hada, etc. have to go.

Again, thanks for the information. This is a very important starting place.

You know, Term, your statement where you are wondering how much wind power we could have invested in on our own instead of throwing away over 3 million with AMP Ohio is a valid question.

I wish I could remember the name of the Ohio college that has invented wind machines that sit right on roof tops. They are much, much smaller than the typical ones that you see now, and they generate much more electricity. They do not look like the windmills you see now. They are going for a patent.

I don't know enough about generating electricity and getting it where it needs to go to really know if something like that would be valid for us, but it's worth a ponder, anyway.

And hasn't President Obama said that the U.S. government would be investing in national grids? I believe they talked about it in June 09 hearings of some sort. They said they would be transforming our nations electricity grid (grids?).

Its not just the 3 million we owe we were going to invest 37 million in that Meig County plant to just have the right to purchase electricity. Whats wrong with keeping those jobs and money in our area? The cost of coal would be added to our cost in Meigs County.
Maybe by now you have heard about a power plant that exploded on the east coast. I believe this was a natural gas plant the same as what AMP-OHIO wants to do with Meigs County now. How would you like the liability that that plant might have? You really don't own it your justy responsible for it.

We're going to have to watch this very, very closely to make sure we get the full and complete (and honest) information about what we owe AMP now BEFORE they get us into something else with AMP -- or anyone else for that matter. Then we're going to have to carefully scrutinize ANY new deal they try to get us into to see if the CITIZENS think it's okay. Hopefully we can somehow get accurate information.

Are we on the line for the defunct coal plant with AMP for 50 (or so) years, or are they going to let us cut our losses -- whether we get into a new deal with them or not? Do we have that info yet?

We need to get citizens at the mid-march meeting with AMP.

At February 8, 2010 at 11:41 AM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

It will be a closed meeting between AMP-OHIO and their Partners. No proplem it will have to be made public record because public money is envolved. Something tells me they are right now trying to hide the payments the cities will have to pay them, This is only a guess, to many politicians careers are at risk.
For them to be very forthcoming.

Term, as per your 11:41 post:

Yes, getting the correct information about what we owe AMP and for how long has been so hidden by McMahon, etc., that I am quite worried about being able to get those figures. I hadn't considered what you said about AMP also possibly not wanting the exact figures and terms of the deals to reach public ears.

Will Flock, Werner, etc. be attending this meeting, do you know? If the public is not allowed, and that is the best we can do, then clearly they need to be there.

At February 8, 2010 at 2:04 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Don't worry to much, I have found some very good people will be watching. 200 million dollars perks a lot of peoples ears. Remember there are 80 or so communities in the same boat as us. Usually Ms. McMahon and someone from the light plant attends.

to 4:21...I can't find which school has what you mentioned...but Oberlin College has a pilot program with wind turbines in place. It's called the 'Oberlin wind power initiative'. Also, Oberlin was one of the first three cities in Ohio to back out of the Amp Ohio deal. I guess they take renewable energy seriously out there...

200 Million for what?

In 2009, minimal construction activities took place in preparation for full-scale
construction. The preliminary construction activities included a 2,500' long access road,
installation of a stone parking lot and lay-down area, pouring of a concrete pad and the driving of
piles for the Unit 1 Chimney Foundation; amongst other minor construction activities the
following year, (see Figure 2). No work was performed in wetlands or streams. Prior to
initiating preliminary construction activities, all major permits had been received and all other
approvals and notifications had been received or given, respectively. Activities planned for 2010
are still under review and any such plan will be reported to the Corps when finalized.

$30 million bridge loan the state of Ohio

I understand they never used the bridge loan from the state. What do they owe companies like Becktel Construction If they did design work they will want to be payed, what did they spend to develop their "Powerspan" system? It will all add up. I agree but 200 million?

To 2:49. This is 4:21.
Based on your post, I also just tried to find the name of the Ohio college that has created the wind machine that I was talking about. I could not find it either. Many thanks to my bad memory. I can't even remember what TV show I saw it on, but it was just recently, and I know they said that they were applying for a patent on it. It was much smaller than the windmill types. More like a boxy (sort of) metal piece with turning pieces on the sides of it. Was supposed to produce much more electricity than the ones we have seen so far. I was completely impressed by it -- so much so that you would think I would have remembered the name of the school, wouldn't ya?

I looked up Oberlin, thanks to you and, yes, their program is very impressive, too.

Sure wish I could find the school. Seems like we'd be seeing more of it in the news, doesn't it?

In regards to -- February 8, 2010 7:52 PM

I emailed the Meigs County auditor and asked the question: was it 11 million for each property or 11 million for all 11 properties?

She responded:

“There are actually 36 parcels in this sale. The total was 11 million for all 36 parcels. Each parcel has the selling price of 11 million but on each parcel there is a (36) showing how many parcels for that selling price.”

I think you might be talking about the Wind Farm in Bowling Green. I don't believe it is the college's wind farm though, just located in Bowling Green not to far from the college.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpez-MPIQvU

Still no charges in the attack on the Marine. Almost 4 weeks have passed. The city dragging their feet, afraid to profile, hiding the gang problem or just another case of Hispanic community and the administration failing to deal with the problem until someone really gets hurt or worse. Overlooking the problem won't make it go away.

At February 10, 2010 at 11:38 AM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

It will in Painesville. Out og site out of mind. Your right about one thing it will make the gang stronger and less worried about getting caught. Well we have a new police chief that he can hand this situation, I hope.
I'll let the city make the announcement. I don't need another investagation presently.

Thanks for the info on the Bowling Green wind farm. I don't think that is it, though. I will look it up to be sure, but the college I am talking about has invented a seemingly fantastic, small wind machine and they are now trying to get a patent on it.

It amazes me how often people open their mouth without knowing the facts and show their ingnorance. Did it ever cross your mind that maybe the victim and/or witnesses were not cooperating in a manner that would help the police bring charges against the kids that attacked the marine? Know your facts before you open your mouth.

And to "Term", it was not 30 youths at midnight at Jackson and Richmond-It happened to be 4 kids and it was before midnight which if you knew anything, you would know their curfew is not until midnight so stop slamming people when you don't know the facts!

At February 11, 2010 at 9:24 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Hi Badger,
I looked up the wind turbine at Owens Community College. That is not it, either, but isn't it great that so many of our colleges are doing all of this wind energy technology.
Maybe if someone from The News-Herald is reading this blog, they can find out what college it is for us, but meanwhile we can keep looking.
One of the most impressive things about the invention at the college I am talking about (or trying to talk about!) is that instead of costing a million dollars, or whatever these huge windmills cost, it looked like it would cost much, much less, and it is much, much smaller. They also said that they produced much more energy than those big ones.

At February 12, 2010 at 3:13 AM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

7:36 Ah! finally a response, I'm getting used to the word ignorance though. No cooperation? How many criminals cooperate. FIVE weeks is more then enough time. Wonder who was in charge. Maybe Four by the time PPD got there there were more then four at the beginning. Why is PPD a taxi now?
It would help if people with the facts would share them, or ask if anyone in the area of the snowball incident would come forward with what they might have seen. Maybe just seem concerned would help. Our Congressman gave the city big bucks last year to look into gang activity, what did they find out?
As a citizen I truly don't feel protected, more "uncomfortable" if you know what I mean?

The prayer group split up by the time it got to Richmond and Jackson. Did you count the number that gathered on Courtland St.? Maybe this group was just out practicing their singing so they could go caroling for the upcoming Valentines Day. Keeping your head in the sand and denying we have problems is pure ignorance.

At February 12, 2010 at 7:48 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

It was 30 kids and it was a flare up from an earlier incident at the skating rink, with additional kids adding to the tension. Sort of like the snowball fight incident. Additional kids came back and joined the original kids. Well, they got away with breaking the marine's jaw. Why wouldn't they continue to gang up do whatever! Painesville, you have a poblem!

At February 13, 2010 at 4:19 AM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

7:36 The problem with your knowledge was that the people who posted about this live in the area affected. These are the facts. I wonder were you a home at midnight? and is home anywhere near Jackson and Richmond streets?
Painesvile has a problem and it seems the people we put in charge either don't care, or are not around at times to see it.

To Badger:
My friend Suz (Suzanne) found some information about the same type of wind machines that I was talking about. I don't think this is exactly the design that the other ones were. The ones I was talking about were boxy and sat on rooftops, were smallish and had turning wheels on the sides -- very close to these, but not exactly the same. Also, I swear it was an Ohio college that had designed them.

But, here is the info. Very similar. Very, very impressive in my book. See what you think.

Google "Green Energy Techologies Windcube." Then go down 5 choices, or so, to "Green Energy Technologies' First Windcube(R) Rooftop Wind Turbine..." That's a good site to go to at first because it has a really good article about these wind machines.
