"TAXMAN" beatles

By now all of us should have received our first half property taxes. For what I understand most property in Lake County has decreased in some cases 12%+. With that said do your property taxes reflect your loss in the value of your home.
I'm looking for people that know how this works. I for the most part don't have a clue. Inside taxes? ect.
What do we do if we disagree with the assestment?

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXSCHOOL BOARD MEETS IN SPECIAL MEETING

The Painesville School Board met Monday night. One of the things on the agenda was to get the ball rolling on a 4.9 Renewal Levy that includes Madison, Perry, Riverside and the Painesville City school districts. All four will vote on this and a majority will pass the levy. This will be on the May ballot. This levy expires at the end of the year and again it is a renewal.

Nice try Term, Do you think this will make us forget the mob with broomsticks? Where are the arrests? The PPD is the laughing stock of the community.

6:26, I bet you also expect the police to get your kid out of bed in the morning when they refuse. If not, you have some petty expectation of what is possible in law enforcement. Go to the polic station and ask to see the arrest reports that are public info. and see what they have actually been doing. I bet you would be surprised. Go ask to see a months worth of complaints. I called recently and found that since January 1 they have handled almost one thousand compliants. In 21 days, 1000 complaints. almost 50 per day. 123 incident reports, 175 arrests, both tickets and people going to jail.

Yeah, they sound like they are sitting around on their butts huh? "You love them when you need them and hate them when you don't". Remember that the next time that you call 911 they will come regardless of how big an idiot you are.

our taxes went down measurably along with the value of our home. Yes, you can dispute your home value. There is number on your property tax invoice. Good Luck I have never known anyone to win a dispute over property taxes.

Good Luck!

Hey Term here is an interesting tidbit the owner of Steele Mansion owns the Enclave Coffee House in Willouby I was reading an artical about it in the News Herold and in the comment section the former owner a Painesville resident stated he has never recieved the money for the purchase of said business and its been 8 months. Have the million dollar renovations stated on that place yet?? Intersting dont you think? All you need to do is got to the website and search "Enclave Coffee House"

Well if you you think the roof caving in and the city condeming the property as renovations?
The resident around that property should watch what kind of moves the owner makes next.
Just a hint don't believe everything you read on the internet.

Term does that mean we should not believe you? You on the internet-lol. I did go and read the story I think in the end the truth lies somewhere in the middle. As for that mansion I dont think the owner ever had the money he stated if he did that place would of been fixed long ago. Its sad in the end Painesville will loose a great landmark

Renewal? I bet our property taxes will increase over this year? What say you?

Here is something you can look into..the renovations at the Steele Mansion. I heard he dropped some substantial cash to address the plumbing issues that he was cited for by the city building inspector. And guess who was suggested to do the work for him...the city building inspector's husband, who owns his own plumbing business!!! Talk about conflict of interest..

FOR:BOARD MEETS IN SPECIAL MEETING
Sunday, January 17, 2010
Why are our taxes for the schoos so high? I believe 88. ? mils.
We are the HIGHEST taxed district and yet the LOWEST scoring in the entire county. If you combine Cuyahoga county schools with Lake, Euclid is the only school lower than here. What does that tell you?
Money and new schools do not make the students any better.
Buyer Beware.

At January 30, 2010 at 5:29 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

for 12:46pm and others wondering, why a higher millage than other cities.

When are the residents of this city going to get it? All of our property values are lower because we are a low income, 50% rental neighborhood type city, we have a lot of county and church property that does not pay a lot of the taxes, so to get an equal amount as richer cities of money we need higher millages .

You want to start changing this?, vote out our current county commissioners and city council members, they all realize they have jobs for life as long as they keep all of this in Painesville and no where else in Lake County.

Renewal or not - my vote will be NO! According to my 2009 tax bill, my home is now worth $23,000 less than last year, BUT my taxes are $200 more. The school has ENOUGH! Let them cut the high dollar salaries and bonuses at the BOE.

OH No People- please dont vote down a school levy. Those babes have free breakfast & lunch but must freeze in doing so. My child told me there was no heat in the
7th grade wing the other day. In COLD about 60 degrees in most classrooms. Kids are told to wear layers & sweaters. Everyone knows about this from the principals to the Super. Supers comment -we are aware of the situation, now stop bugging about it.
I queston:
1. Why was there school when there is no heat? Shouldn't it have been closed? (see meal comment)
2. Why has there been such heat problems for the past 2 years with NEW buildings? It's not just this year either.
3. Weren't the new buildings supposed to "green" energy efficient & save bunches of money?
4. What went wrong?
Does anyone remember a statement by Hanlon about snow days. How we must be open for the children who rely on school for the only meals they may get? Some might be better off at home, a little hungry but WARM.
My opening statement is a little scarcasm. BB
PSS for 1/30 -5:29-Don't forget the school board OOPS I forgot a Mr. Costell ran and was defeated too bad I think he would have been the start of something good.

To 1/31 - 12:14 PM: You are so right, Steve Costell would have made a wonderful addition to PCLS. (Mrs. Costell and I were two of the school "casualties" in November.) The only advice I have for you and other taxpayers is this: Keep ASKING questions! The new buildings are up and running and although it is true that there are always "bugs" in new construction, they should be addressed swiftly and viable answers should be given to any parents/taxpayers who inquire.
Unfortunately, the statement about the meals is quite true. Many of the students are dependent upon the breakfasts and lunches each day - HOWEVER - I believe there was some type of grant or state allowance that helps to provide the "free" meals. It would seem that this would continue to occur regardless of any tax levy. (???)

Wasn't it mentioned in an earlier posting that Mr. Hanlon got a $5000.00 Stipends for him overlooking construction? Give the money back!

I have no clue ,but they get paid $1000.00 to do it.
This after you cut staff?

There were 3 women who worked in the migrant office at one time. One retired, one was moved to the BOE and the last one (who tranlated school documents for the Spanish only parents) was MOVED to the position of parapro.
