"DOWNTOWN" petula clark

When you're alone and life.... Go Downtown and still be alone.
Shop downtown Painesville! Channel 12, Painesville Pride, Ect.
Two things I know we have plenty of downtown are banks, and law offices.
Yet in the wisdom of the city administration we have chosen to do business thirty miles away on E.9th St. in Cleveland.
With my own estimations I would guess we have spent more than $500,000.00 with the law firm of Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs,LLP over the past five or six years.
My question is why? Are the law firms in Painesville and the rest of Lake County below standards and would do a poor job of representing our town? Strange it seems the only one that can answer that is the city manager. I have never heard of council asking for their representation for that matter even a local firm for representation?
You have to wonder if there $300.00 per hr.fee includes travel time?
Maybe some of them should ask the same thing they ask us to do, "shop downtown Painesville."
Don't bother looking at this law firms web.site for some reason, Painesville City is not listed as a client. How come?

There are many things that have gone on in this town and many things that are going on in this town that need to be investigated, I am sure. And I mean really investigated. The thought of what might turn up just boggles the brain. This attorney thing is certainly one of them. HOW many attorneys do we have and use?

Granted, attorneys have specialties just like doctors, but still. I am sure this would warrant looking into also.

We probably DO pay them travel time.

I had some business in Michigan and needed to hire a lawyer there. I thought I remembered that one town was closer to the courthouse than it actually was. The lawyer gave me initial information, and then she told me that I would be crazy to hire her. She said she was 30-40 minutes away, and it would cost me a fortune in travel time. She then referred me to a lawyer in the town that the courthouse was in.

You have to wonder what kind of deal our city manager? Does anyone checkup to see what this woman is up too?
The city is going to Hell in a handbag and today our police chief was quoted as saying we don't have those prblems here. Really? No chief Smith if no arrest was made no crime must have been committed? Enjoy your retirement we are all waiting for the next B.S. artist the city manager will put in that position.
The jokes on us.

I just finished watching the January 19, 2010 council meeting and I am so mad I can hardly type.

How dare McMahon talk to Cimaglio that way? Who in the hell does she think she is? I want her out of this city government NOW.

She had the nerve to say that THEY have been getting the information out about response times and she doesn't know where HE has been?!!!

Well, I'll tell you where he has been. He's been in the same boat with the rest of us watching her and Hada and the rest of them play games, run this city into the ground, and refuse to give the citizens the information that they need.

She's slick. The heat is on. We've had it, and she feels she has to go on the attack in order to save her job. Well, let me tell you -- I have never wanted her out of office more than I do tonight.

Thanks to this blog and Cimaglio, we FINALLY HAD A DECENT MEETING WITH A GOOD, DECENT EXCHANGE OF INFORMATION. I think some of it was even true. McMahon spun quite a yarn about what she has been doing so brilliantly in several areas of concern for our city, trying to make herself look good. But despite THAT load of crap, we did actually have a good meeting, and it looks like things are finally going to start to be above board. We even received good information, delivered in a respectful way from Gurley tonight.

Also, bravo to Mr. Fodor for accomplishing what he did tonight. Very impressive. Please be who you appear to be.

If McMahon thinks she is now going to shout down residents, she has another thing coming. I think she should be out of office based on her treatment of Cimaglio alone, let alone everything else she has pulled.

I have to close this now because I am so mad, I could type all night. Before I go, though, I want to say thanks for this blog, and for Cimaglio. I think you might have finally accomplished what you set out to do, Term. You may have actually forced them to start doing a proper job. We may have seen the beginning of the fruits of your labor.

I want McMahon out. And what is the recall time limit for Hada? Does anyone know?

I listened to the recording of the exchange through www.kathysak.com, nice job Kathy!

What I see is the question was answered. TERM mentioned that he "had no knowledge of these meetings". TERM, is it really ther "JOB" of the City to inform the public that they are working on the problem and how, or just to take care of the problem.

Bee honest with yourself here. When your boss comes to you and tells you to fix a problem do they expect you to inform them of all that you do along the way, or are they happy that you fixed it? If you say that they want your input all along the way I will say that seems very unlikley. Mine just wants the issues fixed and handled and does not care about every step that I take.

I know for a fact that the City is working on this, why would they not? I would be willing to bet that if the questions were phrased in a non-accusitory manner then they may be better recieved, but that tactic of mine usually falls on deaf ears here. JT

At January 21, 2010 at 9:28 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Great now JT. chimes in. He knows for a fact the city is working on this? How, no one else knows but "The JT".
This city has known about the move of the hospital for 6 years they have been closed for 3 months and now we are going to work on this problem. JT. you seem like a nice guy , but do you really believe this crap?
Explain when the hospital moved to Tri-Point why did Mentor Chief Harvey coordinate the move. Why wasn't Painesville City even involved?
Term quit going to council meetings and just post the question to JT. He somehow has all the answers.
That probably goes for the council people that are looking for answers also.

I agree with Mr. Rellik. Where are the minutes to all those meetings McMahon has attended? Is that why all the other cities have moved on without us -- because we've been so involved in the discussions with them? Yeah, right.

She has been asked and asked and asked. Her response at the previous council meeting, after being pressed, was a snotty comment about how they were in ongoing talks, and that was it.

JT. On a serious note, do you know anything about that plans are in the works? I have been told that Painesville has been invited and either doesn't show up or cancelled at the last minute. I only want to be assured that in the near future a crisis can be avoided. At this time I have very little faith in the administration.

Hey at least yor still on Doug Nagy email list. Seems we are no longer getting his emails?

At January 21, 2010 at 12:24 PM , Blogger Big John said...

TERM, the way that I know is meaningless eccept for the fact that they have made statements about what is being done. I know that the City is under a strain with the new location of the hospital and some of the run times could be related to that. Depending on how long it takes to get from Tri-point to a location. I think that is a better question to ask. Where did they respond from? Not that it is an answer to the problem, but I was at Tri-point annd there were three groups of two PCFD officers there. They were on legit runs so who is to say otherwise?

I understand your distrust of the administration, I also get upset over things, never said that I don't. All I talk about is a different way to go about getting the job done. I bet your questions would hold more weight if not having refered to Rita and the City as Queens, and all of the fairy tale references. Do you really think that you will get respect when being so overly sarcastic?

Mary Poppins, no "MP" controversy this time, PCFD Chief did not support the move and therefore did not offer their services, in a form of a boycott. But I am just a glassy eyed rose colored glasses wearing City lover, don't take my word for it.

I just listened to the exchange of words between Cimaglio and McMahon thanks to www.KathySak.com.

Notice how most of the meetings, etc. McMahon is talking about took place in the last week or so. That is because of this website and Cimaglio.

The peasants have organized, and they are storming the castle with broomsticks, so we are finally getting some action and information.

She had the nerve to attack Cimaglio for asking the city if they were sitting around waiting for something bad to happen before there was action taken. Let's see, McMahon, HOW many years have you had to do something?

I want her out, too.

Thanks for bring up the "First Responders," Angelo. One of the contributors to this website brought up that information, as you know, and it sounds like a very good idea that is well worth pursuing.

Off with her head, I say, off with her head.

Poor, poor Hal Werner. He has confused the rights he has under the United States Constitution with proceedures of the Painesville City council meeting.

The three minute rule was a childish, horrible ruling proposed by Abby and agreed upon by council, but Werner cannot use the United States Constitution as an argument against it. Geez.

The city hates to be held responsible for anything.
If this community can stand-by and let afew overpaid administrators run their town into the ground so be it.
Rita McMahon a professional? On a good day she would make a fair crossing guard. She is in a position so far out of her league it not even funny, but then just maybe its planned that way?
The sorry sacks will soon take this city back.

Just finished watching the council meeting and two things that stand out.

Go Councilman Flock! Hold that women's feet to the flames! She got us into a multimillion boon-dogle and I hope it comes out of her salary!

Hal Werner, you voted to silence yourself after 3 minutes! You have the audacity to blame this on a medical problem in your right ear! What else have you voted on that you didn't hear. Don't think this won't be brought up during the next election for your ward. You are disgrace to this city!

At January 21, 2010 at 6:33 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

JT. How much time does your boss give you? When no results are seen doesn't he ask you if theres a problem? Yes Term gets sarcastic and the fairy tales must stike a spot, but it comes with the territory.
As far as coming out of her salary, she makles a good buck but nowhere near the amount the city will owe.
Hal Werner has a medical problem? Believe me its not his hearing.

So lighting up all of you, our Fire Dept. did help, they did there JOB

Don't forget claims that Murphy has never misled the public with his erroneous statements

Repeatedly claiming Abby, Hada & other council people stumped for Fountain

Repeatedly stating the City has done nothing to try and correct the response time issue

Repeatedly stating the City has done nothing to try and correct the Cobblestone issue

Repeatedly stating the City has done nothing to try and correct flooding around Cedarbrook

Leading people to believe that the City actually has say over a business closing

Claiming the stone above the new high school is from India ... its Indiana you genius

And all around ignorance and inability to understand simple explanations, instead choosing to label officials liars and tyrants just because certain vocabulary is beyond his comprehension.

11:57 in order;
Murphy misled the public.
Election Commission didn't see it that way, "without merit"
Abby and Hada stumping for Fountain.
Witnessed that with my own eyes. along with people in the neighborhood that told me that. I don't see a big deal about helping him out to keep there majority.
Response times. Tell me what have they done? They never planned for this when they knew the hospital was moving. Help us but for free is the solutions asked from other communities. Joe Hada stated at a council meeting that Painesville Township Fire Dept. should help bevcause those children go to the township schools? Thats not how it works and he knows it. Cobblestone had a solution first with Mentor then with Grand River now response times are affected all over the city. Can't wait to see all the minutes from the meetings the city manager and fire chief have attended.
The flooding on Cedarbrook will continue during heavy rains trust me, until they put in a connector pipe to Walnut St.
Business closing? You would think they would know whats going on in town, right? When a business comes here they all wear their hard hats and cut the ribbon,or shovel some dirt. "We worked hard bring this company to our town." What did the city do to save North Coast Printing from leaving the city?
In case you haven't noticed downtown is looking a little empty.
Tumbleweed will soon become the offical plant of Painesville.[sorry Doug]
The stone above the entrance at Harvey. This one is to easy. Indiana? Who gave you that information? Sorry call the school system it came from India[the country] alittle waste you think?
Dont worry about an apoligy I don't expect one from you.
I won't even mention Carbone Construction here.
Yes an all around ignorance and inability to drink the kool-aid that you seem to consume in large gulps!

Our city leaders bought into a 50-year coal plant deal. Stupid. We are part owners. It was a take or pay contract. We owe them money -- probably millions. Sorry, but it looks like those are the facts. If not, I for one will be very glad, but doubt it. Ignorance is not bliss, my friend, especially when it comes to dealing with THESE city leaders.

I'll let someone else help Term tackle the rest. Someone please explain to this person the 50% grading system in our schools for one thing.

the only ones mislead on AMP OHIO are the residents of Painesville.

I loved when CM said could be more, could be less, I just don't know. I am betting it could be more!

The only ones who should be charged with misleading is the CM and city council who voted for this mess. If anyone can stand behind Joe Hada and Rita McMahon after the losses are put on the table is not playing with all their marbles. It's coming tax payers.......

Sad to say 11:08 and 11:57, but it's the ignorance of people like you who are partially responsible for the mess this city is in. You refuse to listen to the facts, and you probably keep voting for these people. Facts are facts. Do the research -- hell, most of the research is right here on this blog for you, including proof that it wasn't Murphy that was lying, etc.

You have to wonder where the local media is on these issues? The News-Herald for one. You would think some of this would be of interest to them.
A while back I informed a neighbor about amp-ohio and she claimed of not knowing about it. Later when the N-H reported that Painesville dropped out of the project she called and wondered why it wasn't reported when they joined the project?
The fourth estate doesn't seem to do its job?
Yes, the stone came from India, they made a point to tell us it was the second one the first one cracked in transit.

Take my word there will be no minutes of any minutes with anyone.
She will meet with the chief?
The safety committee will meet? What safety committee Bob Fountain almost feel out of his chair when you suggested they have a meeting, whats it been two years?
He doesn't even want to attend the council meeting.
The truth be told the city manager , and council president have no idea how to solve this problem. This is called a delay of game tatic.

Actually, most of the people on this Blog are totally misled not by Term's lies, but by half truths. He will only post one side of each item and that is the side that he wants to believe.

When this anti-city leaders group wonders why they can't get respect it is because most of them have never learned the skills of listening to two sides and accepting the fact that there might be good and truth in both.

I might actually agree with some of their sentiments but when I see how they act and present themselves I would never come out and publicy align myself with them.

A lot can be said about your comment. First off the people who run this town can be accused of the same thing, half truths and only telling you what they want you to believe. Painesville Newsletter, Painesville Pride, ect. when has the city ever shown both sides?
An example, AMP-OHIO do you think the city did a good job of explaining the risks as well as the good points when they entered into this agreement? Was there open conversations with the community? I feel they railroaded this down the peoples throats and showed little concern about possible outcomes. You may disagree but was a downside ever presented?
"I would never come out and publicy align myself with them." Please, don't bother some of us will carry the water for all. Your position in the community will not change in the eyes of its leaders. Again if your happy I'm happy.
If the city was alittle more honest with us there would be no need for this blog.

Yes, Term, hope everyone goes back to "We didn't start the fire" for more info on the Closest Responders issue. What further info do YOU have? How did we pay for it? Is anyone participating in it? What ya got? We should probably try to bring that discussion to THIS board now because it is so important.

For all we know, you were probably right about bad things happening because they have not covered us on this issue. How would we know how many people have already been harmed by long response times?

I think when we figure this thing out and get the AMP thing figured out, then we need to turn our attention to getting rid of McMahon. The last council meeting was the last straw for me.

Speaking of AMP. She said there was a meeting in March. The citizens need to be at that meeting with recorders.
