"PAINESVILLE PRIORITIES"

Can we work on just five priorities for Painesville?
Does council or the admistration have a priorty list? Council doesnt seem to follow the Comprehensive Plan, heading in many directions at once. I would like the residents of Painesville to post on this site five "doable" priorities for Painesville that we can look back in five years as accomplishments.

Also has anyone have any new information about the Lakeview Bluffs development?
Has the economy crippled this project? and what do we do with the big hole off of Elm St. where they moved the soil to the other side of the river?

The most important prority for Painesville has nothing to do with council, but we must get all of our schools out of academic emergency, that is Painesville No.1 prority.

How can you run a city or anything as far as that goes, by working on just five priorities, Term you would be the first to grip about how other things that come up that should be a prioritiy, doesn't get done, because they are working on just five priorities.

As far as the hole goes, not our problem.

What did you think about the Colony Lumber story in the paper ?

At February 10, 2009 at 3:23 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I thought you could run the city, and have 4 or 5 goals too.
Colony Lumber property bringing 100 jobs to Painesville is a big plus.
The silence about the Lakeview Bluffs project should be a concern to Lake County as a whole.
I thought omly one of thr schools was in academic emergency, and they had a plan?

At February 10, 2009 at 5:45 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

There is no way, that the project they want to do with Colony Lumber, will bring 100 jobs, all of the places that they want there, have workers.

Do projects like lakeview bluffs normally make a lot of news in the winter when construction slows? You are grabbing at straws here and it is baseless to say something is wrong or there is a need for concern. You are trying to interject a controversy where there is none. How about you bring some real information that leads us to believe there is a problem?

At February 10, 2009 at 7:43 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Anonymous yes they have employees but now they will be paying Painesville City Income Tax, instead of someplace else.
Lakeview Bluff annually puts on a presentation dinner every winter, what happened this year?
Straws? I asked a question didn't say there was controversy? Little touche Uh?

How about a road repaving program that makes some sense? along with a drainage solution that makes sense, Painesville stating to look like Venice. Joe Hada listening to residentes? WHEN!

"I asked a question didn't say there was controversy?"

You are right you didn't say there was a controversy but any reader can get the implication. Especially when they know your prior bias and tendency to create and accuse.

Prior bias and tendency to create and accuse. So everything is perfect and myself or anyone else can not ask a question? Only in Painesville pay your ticket and just watch.

At February 11, 2009 at 3:24 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Term, what right have you to ask questions of the city and its schools? You just live here and pay taxes right? Some people in town want to put up a front that everything is great here. News flash its NOT!
Thios town should get an award for sweepimg under the rug, or lets see how high we can pile it. Keep it up the News-Herald is only about a month behind the blog.

Dude, you don't even make any sense. Yes you are allowed to ask questions and no I never said anything was perfect. The point was the under tones of your asking the question itself shows your bias. Anyone who reads this blog can see what I mean. The comment was baseless. You search for ways to accuse people of hiding things and you search for scandal where there is none. I probably wouldn't have posted anything here and just let your comments fade back into the nothingness they originated from but really I am just getting sick of watching that happen. Someone had to call you on another one of your baseless accusations/insinuations.

Dude, Why do you read the blog. if its baseless nothingless why come here? Start your own site and prove me wrong, better yet stay here and prove me wrong. Hiding things? You have no idea the things being hidden. I asked what was going on with Lakeview Bluffs if you know tell us dude.
I'm getting tired of your baseless
accusations/insinuations and mindreading.

I have one, I only work in Painesville but to get to my job I must drive down Stage and Lexington St. t I pay Painesville 2% Income Tax.
The city manager all councilmen should have to drive those two streets eveyday, how can you call this a city.
Thanks for nothing 2%

Lakeview Bluffs has been moved to under the Main Street Bridge.

You can see 2 red & grey tents standing proudly on the the Northwest corner as you drive across the gateway to Painesville.

Not sure what they are charging for camping in the city or is it homesteading?

Has anyone noticed the all the new vehicles the city has in it's fleet? They look quite grand.

It's nice the city has new vehicles and don't need to spend money on repairing the suspension from driving over all the pot holes.

If the people in town spent as much time watching city hall and Jefferson St. this would probably be a liveable town. It is bazaar the number of apologists in town defending what anyone with half a brain can see is incompetence in the way things are in Painesville maybe the ones apologizing are the ones doing all the damage?
How many terms does it take council people to get it right? 20 30 years?

Once again the post started off with a possibility for a positive tone. Posters could have made this a good topic by addressing priorities but instead the complainers took over. Once again we can ask - Does anyone out there have a good idea about what council or the adminstration should be doing differently to make a positive change? What would you do if you were in charge?

On a side note, where does your little clan meet? Only here or in person too?

Once again the post started off...
Please jump in with your priorities. Really your views are important, I will not call you an idiot and tell you to move, clan what clan?
Complainers? have you tried to drive down Lexington? Do you see all the standing water? Did you see the tents? Cars in front yards ect. what do you can these things? Progress?

My power was on all night also, thanks City services. I have seen the once good topic get churned into a mess of a complaints. Not quite sure how change really happens if no one is willing to make suggestions. TERM I know that my post also offers no priorities but I am of simple means and needs. I have grown to learn to trust unless given a reason otherwise. Since the complaints here are nothing more than that, I do not take the suggestions as serious. My eyes are open and I do see what is going on around me, in fact I see way more than some of you realize. I just choose to FOCUS on the positive. My lights are on, water flows, streets are clean and for the most part I am happy here. So I offer no solutions here just an attempt to help get the post back on track.

Think as if you folks ran this town, what five things would you put at the top of your list to make things better here. JT

JT, I hope you are still happy in 5 years when the city has totally crumbled around you. then the rose colored glasses will have to come off. I choose to try to change things before it gets to that point. You choose to wait until it hits you on the head.

Clan? what the heck clan is he talking about? I am one he complains about also, and yet I don't even who who TERM is. Can I be part of this clan? Sounds like a better group of people than the council kissers that spout off here. Let me know when this clan meets. I would gladly join.

Expand bike lanes and sidewalks.
Encourage retail expansion on the downtown area.
Establish laws for offending 'squatters'.
Disallow home dwellers from propping cars on blocks in the front yard and having yard/junk sales 24/7 in the warmer months.
Encourage 'green' space and communities in bloom.

These are all ideas successfully established in other cities in NE Ohio and across the US.

JT, so if your power was off last night that would be the citys fault? I don't think thats what you meant. I unlike you have made a sizeable investment in my home here in town, and agree there is plenty of mismanagement goimg around I can't believe the action watching council meeting when one council person could not understand why another was questioning city overtime. The council people I am refering to painted a dark bleak picture for Painesville saftey forces if a charter change was not voted on, what happened? These two spend money like theres no tomorrow and hide behind its for the safety of our residents. I have to agree with some here where was the crisis?
Did you just want $212.00 in my taxes a year to waste.

Expand bike lanes and sidewalks.
What wider? Or more of them?

Encourage retail expansion on the downtown area.
How?

Establish laws for offending 'squatters'.
Disallow home dwellers from propping cars on blocks in the front yard and having yard/junk sales 24/7 in the warmer months.
I think there are ordinances about this. If they aren't being enforced - complain to the police.

Encourage 'green' space and communities in bloom.
How?

JT made a nice post and you guys jumped on him. Do you hate everyone who doesn't perfectly align themselves with your agenda of dumping on the city 24/7? We see the problems but we also see the postive. If you EVER see something positive, you certainly don't ever show it. If you never see anything positive it really causes me to question your motives.

JT. made a post and people disagreed with him, no one told him to move, or he's an idiot, or an assortment of some of the other things people have been called. This blog. is here so ALL opinions can come forward. JT. G.E. Mary Poppins Maddog all have a right to be heard, city newsletter, the city site are they heard anywhere else in town? 3 minutes at council meetings? [my favorite if your there to blow smoke at council they let you talk forever, but if its something not to there liking the 3 minute rule] of course they really don't have to let you say anything. Please be civil and to JT. along with the city administration maybe he should have to drive down Lexington to get an idea what others are trying to explain. Thanks for all the comments

My electricity went out due to the high winds, should I say screw you Painesville Power? I think not, an act of God caused my lights to go off AND the same act caused yours to say on. Unless you tell me they can pick and choose.

The tents under Main St. bridge are home to illegal aliens? Thats why the city has their hands are tied policy. Just think of all the good P,R Painesville would have for tearing that down?.

Being mis-quoted is an ugly problem in this country that seems to create waves of ignorance. Here is what I said, scoll up to my last post if you care to do so.

"My power was on all night also, thanks City services."

i would like to note the use of the word "ON", it suggests that my power did not go off. I merely made a positive comment that I was happy with my services, take it as you will.

I would also be curious as to how you know that I "have not" made a sizable investment in my living situation, please let us all in on your clairvoyant ways. I believe that I have by living and patronizing the City. In my eyes, apparently through my rose colored glasses, a person that spends their time building things up is more likely to create a "positive" situation for themselves in this world. Some think that tearing down is better and I would respectfully dis-agree.

Make a bet with you "rose colored glasses" person, if Painesville "Crumbles" down around me in the next five years I will gladly take on your negative views and support you in your endeavors. BUT, remember that our definitions must meet in the middle. We both will have to agree that the City "crumbled", but my guess is that our opinions won't meet, now will they? JT

who said the tents are home to illegal aliens? the illegals are all occupying the homes. they wouldn't resort to tents. They let our government pay their rents and their medical and every other freebie they can get their hands on. No tents for them.

At February 13, 2009 at 6:44 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

How do you know anyone is illegal? What is your basis for this?

At February 18, 2009 at 3:18 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

"Yea, tear down a small tent city and throw them out, great P R"

I could care less about PR, they use sympathetic people like you to get their way.

The tents and anyone living there is illegal, period, get rid of them. Those people choose to live that way, there is enough help in this city for mentally ill, poor, handicapped, etc. that no one "has" to live like that. Before the day of political correctness we would have called them town drunks and bums and most likely thrown them in jail.

Stick the PR routine, when people drive over that bridge and see them my property value goes down and I am sick and tired of this town and the bleeding hearts feeling sorry for a bunch of drunken bums.

The truly needy and homeless are already being helped by the many wonderful orgs in this city, so quit letting these dozen or so drunken bums play on your sympathy.

Well, anonymous, you say the tent people are breaking the law so get rid of them. I bet you are a bleeding heart for the illegals who are sucking the life out of this city. They are "illegal" and breaking the law every day by being here. Let's hear you say "get rid of them".

I know that the tent city under the bridge has been there as far back as 1968

Well, term we know one of the priorities of Painesville is to buy a $150,000 fire truck to carry rope, the beer fire truck will look good at the fire station next to that damn fire bus. Abbey if the 16 year old truck was good enough to save that lady that fell off the cliff, so lets buy something real expensiveto replace it. Hope the have enough rope for all of us.
Someone tell Werner you sign a pre-nuptial before the wedding, is he for real?
170 jobs in Painesville? what was that woman smoking!
