"COUNCIL MEETING MONDAY 02/02/09

Council meeting Monday at 7:30p.m. at City Hall some of the things on the agenda;

Re-issuing of a loan/note for Renaissance Business Land Acquisition
Re-issuing of a loan/note for various Capital Improvement Loans
Second reading on the Fire Techincal Rescue Vehicle, and begin the process of a loan
Bids on a back-up generator at the WPCP plant
Permitting the city to aggregate demand Response of retail customers I believe this has to do customers that are able to generate electricity]

Curious question?

At the last council meeting a young lady was sworn in To uphold the Constitution of the United States, the State of Ohio, the ordinances and laws of the City of Painesville. This to be a member of the Painesville Zoning Commission.
Councilpeople are sworn in at the start of their terms.
My question, the City Manager the most powerful person in city government ever sworn in?

The city manager is appointed by city council not elected.

Will someone please ask the Fire Chief how many times this Fire Technical Rescue Vehicle was used in an emergency the last five years, why do you need a $150,000 truck to tow a 16 ft. boat and carry some rope. Why can't a new 3/4 ton pick-up with 4-wheel drive not do the job. They will buy this vehicle with no one asking questions and looking out for the citys money.

On top of that Abbey and Joe both chide Hal and Andy about the rescue truck and reminded them they passed the budget. Not so fast you two Andy voted against the budget because of items like this in the budget. We as citizens of Painesville are so fortunae to have three coucilmen including the President are so knowledgeable they know everything and never ask a question. $149,000 for that truck watch where that money really ends up.

One important note from the council meeting, Selma Hall donation $300.00 to the Fire Department to do as the wished ,replace smoke dectors whatever the need. This on top of the $500.00 donation for the training of the K-9 unit last month, puts her in the class of Painesville residents that puts their money where their mouth is. Thank-you again Mrs. Hall from all of us.

I for one am getting tired of Joe Hada's snide comments when someone doesn't vote the way he wants. Count the votes Mr. Hada and leave your biases at the door. Yes approving an 85 million dollar budget in one day sounds like the way you like things done, and if you voted for an item in the budget WHY are you voting again.Grow-up.

Someone should ask Joe and Abbey how they plan to pay for that glorified pick-up truck. Come down to Core Industries and ask how many we have laid off since the first of the year? No press releases just pink slips.

Maybe they ask beforehand and come prepared to the meetings.

Maybe they just take there marching orders from someone, and just vote they way there told. I watched one of the three open there "Packet" for the first time about a year ago. None of those three ever ask anything and Mr. Fountaine isn't even serving his ward. Please, example to follow.

Give me a budget of $60,000 and I'll get the chief a piece of equipment to do these jobs and more. Foolish waste of money, thats not going to make anyone safer. This is crazy.
