"LAST DANCE"

I have been told Tuesday's Varsity Basketball game will be the last time Harvey High's Gym will be used for a Varsity sport, it wouldn't hurt to renew some memories that night.
I have to ask will the gym at the "New" Harvey High be named after Coach John D'Angelo? I sure hope so, anyone know?

TERM, by your comment you got a negative answer and that is sad. I hope that the new high school is a gem here and that the school board listens to the people as to what they think. I think that they should come up with a few suggestions and send a ballot to the Alumni with a write in section. Then take the majority. Just an idea from a non-alum supporter of the school. JT

We would like the new gym named after our great new President Obama, and Term the bigot will not post it, and you don't make other people sign in to post ?

Why would we name a gym for an unproven president?

This is exactly why the board should not ask anyone else because everyone in this city only thinks in the me, me,me and never considers that we will have generations going forward that have to live with the decision.

TERM>> the racist, bigot, hater, here. JT. if the new Harvey High replaced the old Harvey High, why wouldn't the new John D'Angelo Gym replace the old John D'Angelo Gym.
I only hope tradition means something to some around here.

Sorry, but until President Obama has served for 4 years, he can not be considered a great or even bad president. Just being elected doesn't make anyone great. Let's see how he performs before we start calling him the greatest president we ever had. Just showing up doesn't warrant automatic greatness. Just showing up for work, class, or anything else doesn't entitle you to anything more. Expecting the automatic entitlements is what got us into this trouble in the first place. Just like the rest of us working stiffs, we go to work, do our job, then we get paid with money or as in this case, being called great. Do the job, then comes everything else.

TERM, I agree with you about tradition. I did not know the name of the current gym, non-alum and the kids are too young. Anyway, I would think that if that is the case then they should just keep the old gym name and let it be. Naming it after the president is not an idea that I think would bridge any gaps and would only foce the divide.

Tradition and Respect. The perfect reason to name a Gym or anything else after a person. John D'Angelo has done a lot for Harvey and our school system. Why not name the new gym after him. Obama has done what for Harvey??? If someone comes along and improves the quality of education in our schools and raise it to the level of other schools in our are, I wouldn't have a problem naming a school after that person. John D'Angelo has done that for Harvey's sports program. Keep his name on the new Gym. Just my opinion.

Found in Fridays, News-Herald Sport section,

Harvey would do well to take some of the mystique and atmosphere from D'Angelo Gymnasium over to their new home next year. The Red Raiders have home wins over talented programs like Madison,Perry,Kirtland and South. Simply put, they just have a different swagger at D'Angelo Gymnasium. They look faster, play faster and create more havoc defensively there. I don't know if its the smaller floor compared to many other gyms or what, but most opponents won't miss going to West Washington Street.
Great Article!

Wonder what the chances are of selling "Mystique" over "Diversity"???
