PAINESVILLE TEST

i took a poster's advice and sent an e-mail to the city site asking about Resolution #43-08 for an explaination, along with my favorite. Why is the fire truck at the waste treatment plant? I have received conformation they have my e-mail question. Maybe some of you can ask also as I might give misleading answers.
If I get an answer I will submit a lot more as this may be the way to receive answers.
As far as property taxes, yes the County, Lake Erie College,Painesville Schools, Churches, and Lake East Hospital do not pay property taxes. The city does collect payroll taxes from everyone who works in town. 3 years ago we as a city bought 16 acres from a private individual off Richmond St. we lost that property tax and it must have been pretty hefty since the administration payed $250,000 for swamp land? We just gave up the property taxes at Millstone, Gristmill wonder what we were collecting there? Rabbits and deer do not pay taxes, we took the easy way out there also. How many homes were lost in the process of building the new schools? There were at least 6 leveled for the new Harvey High School. Why wasn't that built at the first site picked off of Jackson St. We seem to be are own worse enemy.
Mentor's property taxes didnt go down, they went up! All they probably did was have a little higher grading standard than Painesville. We spent 100 million on schools, we go down? It not the way it should be is it? Buildings do not make an education.
Hazeltown Pa. all I can say is the Mayor was re-elected with 93% of the vote. because his hands weren't tied. They will never pay a dime for enforcing Federal Law and the A.C.L.U. knows it.

Mentor's property values went up because its leadership keeps an eye on things. I wonder how many homes in Mentor have 22 people living in them and peeing on their neighbors lawn. What percentage of Mentors students speak English, have cars parked all over the lawns. Thats why your values went down. Thanks Abbey!

he said mentor's property TAXES not values. I assume he meant values. You guys seem to know so, how do I determine my property value in the city vs. what it would be in mentor? Then once I accomplish that how do I determine average property value increases and decreases for both entire cities and compare to past years? Is this published somewhere? And are the new houses in painesville included? Property values have been dropping all over the country. How did they go up in mentor? Source?

There are DVD's floating all over town of her appearance on Fox news a couple of years ago. She said that Painesville embraces the illegal population. We are all neighbors. etc.etc.etc. If you come to one of the town hall meetings for Hal or Andy, just ask about this DVD. Someone will give you a copy.

TERM, "who starts your car in the morning" sounds like a definite threat to you. Who does anonymous think he is? One of the Soprano's.

Does anyone have the dvd that would be willing to type a transcript of what she said for the readers of the blog?

To anonymous 1 and 7, LOL

Maybe Painesville's "Capo" will send the "Crew" to "Whack" or "Burn" those they think are "Babbos". Will the "Capo di tutti capi" put out the "Contract" on Term?

Too Funny, Term watch your back ;>)

"Mentor's property taxes didn’t go down, they went up! All they probably did was have a little higher grading standard than Painesville. We spent 100 million on schools, we go down? It not the way it should be is it? Buildings do not make an education."

Are you kidding? Geez. Give them a chance. The middle school and high school are not even built yet.

You post and complain about bias in Painesville, but everything you post is biased. You, sir, ARE A SOURCE OF BIAS IN PAINESVILLE. Hypocrite adjective- a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings.

And what are you talking about anyway? Scores in school affecting property taxes and our taxes went down because our kids didn't do well? I fail to see your link here.
"All they probably did..."???? I have no idea what you are talking about here but I am sure that a higher grading standard is not the only difference between the two school systems and it is not “the only thing they did”.

Sir, you are a planning genius. It would totally be worth it to keep 6 houses rather than build an entire new high school. Don’t you think the schools considered building it off Jackson Street? You can ask them why they did not I am sure there is an excellent reason. Did you raise this issue when they were deciding where to build or are you just spouting off after the fact?

"They will never pay a dime for enforcing Federal Law and the A.C.L.U. knows it." How much are they paying in legal fees? Didn’t that town lose? Wasn’t the ordinance found unconstitutional? To me this was just a complete and total waste of taxpayer money and their cities’ resources. You whine all the time about supposed wastes of funds in Painesville but you are advocating throwing away thousands and touting Hazleton as wonderful? Hypocrite adjective- a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings.

Check this out:
“At a two-week trial in March, 2007, the plaintiffs presented evidence showing that Hazleton’s attempt to scapegoat immigrants is based on distorted facts and propaganda, not reality. In truth, Hazleton’s finances have improved since the latest wave of immigration began, and undocumented immigrants are involved in crime at a lower rate than other groups.”

In case you missed it, lets recap: Finances = BETTER, Crime Rate = LOWER

“Hazeltown Pa. all I can say is the Mayor was re-elected with 93% of the vote. Because his hands weren't tied.” The guy wasted tons of money on an ordinance that was "slam-dunk" unconstitutional. Maybe his hands should have been tied. So he won the popularity contest to get re-elected - You are only fueling my argument for why we should not have a mayor.

Anonymous, you are so full of crap. I don't even know where to begin to start replying to your drivel. I will come back to this when I have time to reply, but for now, you can just go back to your throne.

why they did not put the High School on W. Jackson St.
1. Traffic

2. Two far for kids that
walk.

I read about this in the paper when they were deciding were to put it.

This is getting good, What is the big deal about the Fire Truck sitting at the sewer plant? It's probably the one getting retired for mechanical reasons and awaiting the city that is buying it.

We took the easy way out on gristmill and millstone?, what are you smoking?, the easy way would have been to look at those residents and say, tough sh*t, it's your problem, better get it solved before we cite you for a nazard sitting there.

In the other post it sounded like most of our homes fell in value to just about worthless, so why the big deal if 6 were torn down?

As far as Resolution 43-08, since council had a session to discuss a legal matter about it there is a good possibility they are not legally allowed to discuss it at this time.

They didnt put the High School there because of traffic? So in whos wisdom did they put an Elementary School at W. Jackson and Grant St.

At August 7, 2008 at 8:33 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

The area they are talking about is out past the freeway, the traffic out there is out of control, there is no freeway to worry about by W.Eagle St.
plus they don't have the same amount of traffic at the Elementary Schools like they do at the High School.

The underground storage they are talking about is located between Heisley Park and the Railroad tracks, part of Heisley Park is built on this area, it is nowhere near where they were talking about putting the High School.

Is the reply still coming? Look I think you take this as a personal insult and I’m asking you to please not to. In fact, my comments should be welcomed. Don’t take this as a complete rejection of everything you are about. I am willing to get behind you on things if they are correct. I admit my comments were pointed but I was only playing Devil’s Advocate. If you only have 3 minutes to present before council then you should welcome my comments as a way to test your arguments and complaints before the big show and refine them. Use my post as a sharpening stone.

I don’t think traffic was the sole reason for not putting the schools there and gas wells may have been an issue whether the state prohibited it or not. And I don’t think elementary schools cause as much traffic congestion as a high school or middle school. I don’t know what to say about the fire engine thing though.

Yeah I read it. Don't know what you mean though. Are you calling me wrong for what I wrote or saying my post was redundant? Or saying it was a response to my first long post in the topic? I think we can agree and disagree on things. As far as where the gas wells or under ground storage or whatever are located, and where the discussion of the high school was to be put, there are no specifics in the above posts, mine or the other guy's so I don't really know much about the plan. I just thought I remembered it being an issue. Keep in mind I have no answers here. I'm not affiliated with the city or the schools and don't have any more access to the answers than you do. Are you saying that the underground storage or gas wells or whatever they may be had nothing to do with the placement of the high school? I mean I'll have to take your word for it, I have no problem with that, but how do you know?

Did any of you take your concerns to the board of education when they were still in the process of making this decision?
