FREE PLANE RIDE??

I just feel the love! TERM likes to cause trouble? The troubles here, all I do is point it out. The Fire Truck is at the sewage treatment plant WHY? No one who answered the post gave a good reason. We bought 16 acres of land off of Richmond St. for $250,000 that mostly sits in the Grand River, which we will never be able to do anything with WHY? It goes on and on. I mislead... I ask questions that should be answered but you only get 3 minutes twice a month, and most of the time all I get are silent stares. I tell you that we in Painesville City are paying the second highest property taxes in the county,I have the sheet in front of me , and I am told I'm wrong? If you think things will end if I leave? The person who wants to be blog administrator, calls me Mary Poppins.... We are in the process of spending close to 100 million dollars on new school buildings, and our property values go down? Go figure....Do you think a Mayor would have let this housing and illegal problem get this bad? Two words Hazeltown, Pennsylvania... I have no intention of running for anything, anytime. I have lived in Painesville most of my life, and I keep coming back,I Must love the City, and am watching some thing decay. Please dont think I don't see alot of positive things happening in town also.
My name is Angelo Cimaglio and all I want is to run a well informed Blogsite.
Now....
That Phantom Amendment #40-08 can we ask what that is?

I for one am sick and tired of all you anonymous people who are criticizing TERM and anyone who dares to bring up issues and question the city. If we all were like you, the city would go totally unchecked as it has for years and look where that has gotten us. If you don't see what's wrong with the city then you have you head stuck in a hole. There are a lot of good things in the city. No one is denying that. But the wrongs are beginning to outweigh any reason for law abiding, ordinance following CITIZENS to be here. The city has put out the welcome mat for lawbreakers and someone has to step up to the plate and get the CITIZENS involved. CPR

Another post that is a perfect example of misleading.

3 minutes twice a month, why can so many other people get answers when we call our Administration or council outside of council meetings and all you have is 3 minutes twice a month?

2nd highest property taxes, whos' fault? How about you use your spare time and figure out for us the tax value of all the prime real estate our wonderful county has taken control of, then call your county commissioners and see if they even care.

property values go down, City Admins fault because a Mayor wouldn't let it happen, DUH, where have you been?, the housing market has crashed all across the country, not just here.

Illegal problem, again Admins fault, Mayror would never let it happen. I recall most of the illegal comments(we welcome, Sanctuary, etc.) came from our council people, of which only one was ever voted out. Its not like our City Admin can decide how Feds enforce the laws or how the courts decide to tell local govs to keep their hands off.

The two words, Hazaltown, Pennsylvania - what does that have to do with Painesville? If my city Admin was ignorant enough to get into a legal battle that probably cost that city hundrerds of thousands of dollars then I would be upset!

You are indeed running an active blogsite but it is not well informed, because, you and your small group of associates have alienated most of the people that could give you the real answers you want!

I congratulate you. The age of internet influence is upon us. Bloggers have more and more prominence in the news. Bloggers have attained fame and noteriety. Flip to election coverage and you can no doubt see an analyst on tv famous for only running a blog. But they don't get on tv under a pseudonym.

long anonymous, maybe you get answers when you call because you ask questions they are willing to answer. Or you are a close friend.

Long Post Anonymous

1. Yes, you can get answers about issues already decided or when is a certain event, etc. But try and get a answer about something that hasn't been voted on or discussed in a council meeting so you can tell your council person your opinion. Three minutes at meeting with no answer doesn't work. Some council persons don't return there calls, regardless of what council says.

2. Yes, government offices don't pay property taxes. The city income tax sure helps pay the high cost of our city government thou.

3. Property values in Painesville went down the drain long before the current real estate crunch. The long list of businesses leaving or closing and the fact that the city is becoming a town without home owners, just renters, has brought down the home values. The more rentals we get the faster the town circles the drain. No reason to come to Painesville unless you have to work here.

4. Funny how it is that the city chased the homeless out of the city. Not in my back yard. But as soon as anyone mentions something an ILLEGAL immigrant, they are called a racist or uncaring. I've seen several homes that have anywhere from 10 to 20 male adults living in it in the city. The city won't enforce the "to many unrelated living in same house" ordinance, but they chase the homeless away. Double standard for a reason? Someone allows these policies to take place. Mayor or City Manager, I don't know which would be better. Just something has to change.

5. Hazleton, Pa Yes, that isn't right. But what is happening there is happening all over the country. Look at Postville, Iowa. Not only were social security numbers stolen but child labor laws broken too. This abuse needs to be stopped. The employers need to be held accountable and the influx of ILLEGAL immigration needs to stopped. The costs to the average citizen for health care, education, and other social services for a largely less affluent population is going to severely curtail services to the entire area. Again, Mostly a federal issue, but to overlook it, isn't right either.

6. Alienated the people who could give you the answers or anger those same people because you dare ask a question or worse yet, want an answer.

An open dialogue can be a good thing.
Just my thoughts

At August 6, 2008 at 10:01 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Well said, Badger. You make good points.
5.We have the ACLU to thank for the lawsuits for Hazleton PA trying to enforce immigration laws.
1.Even if we get a call back from our councilman, they just say they are looking into it -- and that's the last we hear. I guess their hands are tied.
4.Some of the homeless are veterans. All are citizens. They get arrested for peeing in a bush, but it's ok for the illegal neighbors to pee in my yard.
We need to take back our city. Not just from the illegals but from the administration!

I moved out of Painesville close to a year ago. Andy Flock was my councilman, and I only have good things to say about him. It was the rest of the government that forced my hand. Moving out of Painesville was the best thing I ever did. My house is finally set to close next week, and I'll be all the way out. I do come into town once or twice a week, but it is nice knowing I can drive in and drive right out!

"you and your small group of associates" Nice comment there long anonymous blogger.

LOL we are getting bigger and you folks at City Hall should start to listen....... People are starting to pay attention..... Please it's about communication, period.
Andy Flock's meeting was at capacity for his driveway. Not sure how Hal's are going cause I haven't been to one in a while.

About those Electric bills; granted it's still cheaper in Painesville than CPP or First Energy....
When I had First Energy I knew how much I was using and what the peak hours were. I worked around it because they gave me the information I needed.
News Flash....... I called the Utilities Office and the Electric Plant about my bill. If you have questions CALL THEM!! They went over everything on that bill. Summer electric rates are definitely higher than winter rates. I can post the breakdown if you like but for now I am getting my calculator out and deciding when to fire my kilns to save money.

I am very angry about the rental situation in this city.
52% of the residential buildings listed as rentals is just stupid on the part of the city. It is one of the reasons our homes started to decline in value years ago.

As far as the illegal situation......... Yes, Painesville carries the banner for "Sanctuary City" status. Don't kid yourself we are a harbor for illegals. That said; we must stand back and ask why aren't other cities that surround us considered "sanctuary cities" BECAUSE IT ISN'T TOLERATED!
Not by the city government, not by the residents and not by the businesses. It's not about being racist it's about being legal. Painesville is tolerant of illegal activity.........

After I spent a couple hours reading through the city code I found myself laughing! We have enough laws on our books to make this place look like Gates Mills!
The BIG QUESTION......
Can we enforce any of it?

long anonymous blogger, I would rather be one of TERM's small group of associates than a friend or associate of yours. You seem to want to keep the status quo. We are trying to make a difference. I just don't understand why you fight change so much. If you are not part of the solution then you are part of the problem. This city needs change in a big way. Madpotter is right when she says Painesville tolerates illegal activity. Will you who thinks all is great in Painesville please answer me why the city embraces the illegals? Abby, can you further explain your comments on FOX on why the city embraces illegals. You did this city a great disservice when you went on Fox and for that we you must take much of the blame for us being a sanctuary city. Why? Is it true just so you could get "couple of the year". Well, I wouldn't want an award of any kind if I had to sell out my beliefs, my city, my friends, my children's future. That is what you have done to all of us. I hope you are proud of yourself.

At August 6, 2008 at 12:31 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I agree, Abby. You have sold us out. You have children. How could you do this to them? There will be no America as we know it for your grandchildren if this continues. If you don't care about the citizens of Painesville enough to act responsibly, think of your grandchildren.

This is long blogger, and the previous 5 posts are again a perfect example how people defending term can read something and totally twist around what it said. The post never said I thought everything is fine, It never said I'm for illegals...it pointed out how term makes statements that are misleading.

He wants a Mayor, so he makes statements that infer our problems happened because we have a City Manager and not a Mayor.

Everyone wants open communication, so I call it out that his "Free Plane Ride" has misleading statements in it and all of a sudden his little "group of Associates" has labeled me a pro everything bad blogger. If all of you want open discussion that means you have to be open to listening to other viewpoints also.

Here's what I infered in my post, why has only one of the council that made immigration statements been voted out? people of Painesville, does that send the message that we agree with her?

Kudo's to madpotter, she actually called to ask her questions and they answered them! My experience is that when you are polite and civil as we all should be our city employees are very helpful and willing to answer any question they can.

I just reread the statement from long anonymous.

"You are indeed running an active blogsite but it is not well informed, because, you and your small group of associates have alienated most of the people that could give you the real answers you want!"

My guess is that you are the problem.

How can council people elected to serve the citizens be alienated from or hold a grudge against any resident in this city?? And aren't they suppose to answer your questions. Could have answered anyone's question just doesn't cut it. The city government works for the people. Maybe this is why Term has this blog in the first place and why they don't like it.

Sorry Term, forgot you pat today.

At August 6, 2008 at 1:04 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I'm slipping today. Long day. Forgot to proof read.

I meant to include the city manager in the post above. She is suppose to work for council who is elected by us.

And meant to say

Sorry Term, forgot YOUR pat on the back today. Don't want to mislead anyone.

As long as long poster brought up the last election. This next city council election should make the Hillary-Obama race look like a coin toss to choose the next council persons. The at large races are going to be interesting.

Maybe the fun starts here.

The Council President that sent letter to Washington D.C. is gone> Who else on council will stick his or her head out of there hole speaking out for illegals?
Abbey please go on national news shows so I'll have two DVDs to show next year.

At August 6, 2008 at 10:48 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

The Councilman who is gone is not gone because of the letter, he is gone because only 1/3 of the regesterd voters in his ward voted, allowing Hal to win.
The funny thing is 66 % of the people that did vote, voted against Hal Werner.

THINK ABOUT IT 66% VOTED AGAINST HAL.

At August 6, 2008 at 11:03 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Funnier thing is, that's how elections work. Now you know for a fact how each voter voted and why. Talk about misleading info or not being totally informed. The fact remains, he still lost. Maybe a few more should be counting their days.

You are insinuating that the people that didn't vote would have voted for Horvath. How do you jump to that conclusion?

At August 7, 2008 at 5:05 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

that is not how I read it
I read as the vote was split three ways and since only a third of the Ward showed up to vote Hal won the vote.

This what happens when you have the majority of home in a Ward as rentals. People who show up for local ballots are usually homeowners.

At August 7, 2008 at 6:21 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

However you look at it, Horvath lost and yes, I believe a lot of that had to do with his letter supporting the illegals. He and Abby turned this city into a sanctuary city and they broadcast this across the country. There is even a Mexican song in which one of the lines if about coming to Painesville Ohio. Thank you Horvath and Abby for selling us out for an as yet unknown to us reason.

I have known Term for most of my life and I know for a fact that he most certainly cares a great deal about Painesville and the direction it takes. His family has lived here since 1924 when they came as LEGAL immigrants through Ellis Island. He can't stand to see a dollar or a vote wasted; so keep that in mind when the next election rolls around. If you like who is presently representing you then get people to vote, and if you think change is due, then get people to vote. That's the way the process works. Oh, and although I'm a renter, I always vote because it is a privilege.

I admire TERM and what he does for the city and tries to do for the city. His heart is in the right place. He is trying to motivate people to get involved. Sherri said it right when she said for you to get out and vote no matter what your beliefs. Just vote! Get involved! Thank you TERM. It is an honor to know you.

After reading some of these "I worship Term" posts I have to wonder when is he going to pass out the kool-aid?

Someone tell me, what exactly does he "DO" for this city?

At August 7, 2008 at 9:46 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

From what I see, he is trying to get people involved. Trying to get people to care more what happens in this city. He's not asking for anything. He's not running for anything as far as I know. Also, he's not promising anything. All he does is post a topic (usually a hot topic) for people to discuss or debate. People, why attack or get focused on Term?

It's the topic or issue that is IMPORTANT.

Just by reading this blog, people are learning more about what goes on in Painesville. Like it or not, good and bad things happen in this town. I have learned things here that don't get printed in the papers. I'm not worshiping Term. I'm just thanking him for his hard work by running this blog.

At August 7, 2008 at 10:10 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

well said, Badger. We are not "worshiping" TERM. I only worship one God. But I thank TERM for bringing issues out into the open. I have learned about meetings here that weren't publicized well from the city. He makes me want to get involved and gives me the opportunity to know when things are going on so I can get involved. He is just the messenger, but we need a messenger here in Painesville.

"All he does is post a topic (usually a hot topic) for people to discuss or debate. People, why attack or get focused on Term?"

Well I don't think all comments are directed to him alone but also some posters on the blog. I have applauded him and criticized him. I would imagine the gripe is that every posts near accuses council or someone else of wrong doing. The complaint is the manner in which he "presents" these topics for debate and how if a benign answer for the accusation arises it does not pop up here. Whether it is intended or not it comes across as a lack of objectivity.
