"STORM CELL"
I forgot to mention that before the council meeting ended last night,[very late] Three well known local citizens went in front of council to transfer a liquor license for the restaurant in the New Market Building. The plan is for a sports bar with a Lake Erie Storm theme. Great idea and plan to open around August 23, just in time for the football season. We need to support people like this to bring business downtown.

Great 1 more place for people to get drunk and make fools of them self's
Are you drunk while you are typing this? "them self's?" I believe it is "themselves."
I think it is a great idea. It will be good to attract a younger crowd. Painesville really had the potential to become like downtown Willoughby, but I think that chance has passed. I think a sports bar would be better than a large vacant building.
It was ment to be that way, what are you the blog teacher, not everyone can be perfect like you.
Yeah, check out the Willoughby Police blotter for all the young drunks, makeing fools of "THEMSELVES"
There you happy now......
I, for one, appreciate a properly worded and spelled comment. Good grammar and spelling just shows that you took the time to think through your remarks and want them to be conveyed concisely. As far as all the beautiful buildings and retail establishments in Painesville that are empty, any sign of life is good news for the town. Instead of just talking about all our 'potential', it's great that something is actually happening!
See what I mean about "Hostility?"

Yeah, they just want a new place to drink.
Anything that will get folks to downtown after hours should be applauded. I for one am not going to dinner unless I can order a glass of something. It's good business sense. The last thing we need is a dry town!
Hope they get the license and hope folks show up to support them. Also good business sense to finally link the college to the city.
Going into winter, it would be nice to walk downtown for an Irish coffee...............
For those that don't want to support the business walk over to the liquor store and head for the bridge with all the other bottom feeders.........
I also appreciate a well written comment. It is difficult to respect an opinion when it looks like it was written by an uneducated 3rd grader.
Boy then you should not be reading this blog, TERM. makes a lot of mistakes.
TERM, could fill a book with his mistakes. Maybe a couple.

Thank you TERM.
Term is Term. At least he is running this blog which is a lot of work. It's easy to sit back and complain, but much harder to join in and help. I wish I had the time. Maybe later. One thing is we need more businesses to help draw people to the city. Other than a few concerts and a farmers market, mostly the city just rolls up the sidewalks after 2 PM. We have many government offices, a high school, and a college within a few blocks of the square yet most people are looking for the fastest way out of town. Why is that? We need to attract more businesses to town who will in turn bring the people back. You earn the right to complain if you also step up to the plate and help by being part of a solution. Term is at bat, you're on deck and, for now, I'm stuck waiting to get into the game because of my work schedule. Come on everyone, let's move forward not backward. Hats off to Term
HERE,HERE!!!!!!
THREE CHEERS FOR TERM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Back in the day when the City of Ville and L.E. College announced how this is now a college town; my greatest question was - what is here in this city for the college group? Nothing!! Have any of you surveyed the college residents on what would truly make this a college town and in retrospect attract others to come here. The answer was, NO.
I was born and raised in upstate New York - Tri-County area. Schenectady is a college town with Union College and a much more advanced Community College than Lakeland. Albany has Albany State College and then they have RPI. RPI is the most advanced and highly accredited Engineering College around. Each and every of these areas have always provided an array of places for the college students and their families: which in turn attract all others regardless if they are affiliated with the college scene.
My original questions and asking about the survey were greeted as very strange and with raised eyebrows.
I am not one to take credits. I am the one that placed a big big bug in the ear of one of the four that are now starting the "Storm Cellar."
That person knows who they are.
My thanks to you for listening. The Storm Cellar appears to be just a home-base start. I truly hope that all of my other suggestions and comments become a reality. This City has a very low low income rating, and all of my other comments should assist you to overcome this and see the light at the end of the tunnel. You are awesome and you are the leader. You do not need any help nor advice from the City Manager or her "maid" in the community development department!
As much as you dislike politics, you are the greatest administrator and leader - you do not have to be involved or elected - you are the future of the "Ville."
Thank You.
