"DOWNTOWN" petula clark

Just listen to the music of the traffic  in the city
Linger on the sidewalk where the neon signs are pretty

How can you Lose?

Look I'm actually happy that these new businesses have found a home in Painesville.
the bait shop makes sense due to the river man fishing stuff is expensive! The bike shop good idea more and more adults are biking for transportation and exercise.

A Brewery in the old Dollar Bank (Citizen Saving) would be a big lift for making Painesville a destination. It must overcome building repair and breweries aren't cheap. Parking issues must be resolved sorry  people don't like to walk much. Also competition like the new Brim in Willoughby are chasing the same clientele.

Yes these businesses are destinations like Silvestro's Depot, Bistro 70, Steele Mansion and Rider's Inn. None of these establishments rely solely  on Painesville resident's.

Painesville resident's are looking for that place to buy a shirt, socks, pair of shoes and pants. Along with REASONABLY priced groceries and fresh vegetables. v(Are you listening Harry?)

Sadly I don't know if our Downtown can survive as a "destination only" location with so many everyday items ignored.

Passed the building on N. State that V.D. want's to make a Hispanic kitchen. Seems it appears the idea is to fill the underground tanks with concrete? No idea. But since it's presently government owned building expect anything!

Burlap fencing? Got to love it!

I know this is off subject, but I heard the city is paying $3,500.00 a month for over a year for toilets for the electric department on Storrs? Anyone know if that is true? The building project has been going on for almost two years... what’s the hold up? Why the waist of money?

Since it's our money, why have we not been told what kind of Hispanic kitchen Veronica Dahlberg intends to create. Is it for homeless Hispanics? Is it for profit, in which case, she could BUY the building. Is it for charity and, if so, where does the money come from to run the charity? Can people of other colors go there? If illegals from other countries other than Spanish-speaking ones come here illegally and need help, can they go there, too? (I am assuming that the main focus of the "kitchen" is to have a building to welcome in new Hispanic illegal arrivals, and I will continue to assume that until it is proven differently.) I'm sure our city council and our city leaders know exactly what the intentions are, so why don't we, the citizens from whose pockets the money for that building is coming from, know? She should have had to make a presentation to the citizens of Painesville requesting the building and getting our approval.

Painesville's downtown has long been, and will continue to be, a "destination only" place, as it's a destination only for the homeless and mentally ill, as well as bored teenagers who can't get a ride to the Great Lakes Mall.

Burlap is now a fencing material??
Sounds like a new "fence" at the corner of State and Walnut.
It presents some problems with visibility. I wonder who, under the Dome, approved it?

Question for you.
If every other place with an underground tank is required to remove it, how is this location any different??
Do we have different rules for different groups?

8:15 Presently all I witnessed was a hole being dug in the short driveway and cement being poured? Oh, and there are different rules.
6:45 I would assume Noel or Doug Lewis nice touch uh? Very attractive and unsafe.
7:23 And they say I'm bad for DPO?
7:12 Where have you been? this has been in the public forum many times. The kitchen is so people can make food products that can be sold out of trucks or at say an event retail. It will be open 24 hours a day to everyone?
The building was donated by the Statethrough the Land Bank.

5:26 That price sounds about right. No functioning bathrooms presently at Storrs St. for a while. Pretty much how things are done around here in the dark. Holdup?Poor planning.

12:18, I'm still not understanding the workings of Dahlberg's kitchen. And if it's retail, then why didn't she have to buy the house instead of getting it free. It will be open 24 hours? This is for illegal arrivals; it must be. Something is very fishy here. There is no way that is the whole story, and probably not the story at all.

Hold up? Poor planning at Storrs st? Thank your buddy Mr. Carson again. Just what is the total cost of the building as opposed to how much he TOLD council it would cost??? Council was taken by this project too.

1:51 Carson's been gone over a year and a half? His director's made the claim on costs.

Maybe the new action on Dalhberg's 'gift' has something to do with the PVL Economic Development Dept's presentation to local restaurant owners regarding food truck operation within city limits. Many restaurant operators attended the first meeting...and many did not. From what I heard - it sounds like a done deal and they are just trying to get established restaurants to buy in. There will be at least one more meeting conducted by the city - I'll find out date/time ...but I don't think it's open to the public - just restaurant owners/operators.

Please circle back to Ms Dahlbergs Mexican kitchen. She was GIVEN this property? By whom? Where is a generous person to GIVE the Senior Center a home???

12:27 The property is presently owned by the Land Bank (a state agency). Seniors couldn't use this property do to the parking situation.
2:41 It's a done deal. Expect more vehicles and more empty storefronts.
I thought we were so concerned with emissions?
