"HERE WE GO AGAIN" ray charles

The phone will ring again
I'll be her fool again
One more time

Well AMP-OHIO called again and we presently have a whole new cast of characters from a 'new' city manager and six new council people.

This time with AMP called with a scheme called AMI? The only thing you need to be aware of it will cost ratepayer's 4.5 million dollars  for smart meters, installation and monitoring.

These funds to pay for this will come out of one of our numerous electric funds that you have paid into through your electric purchases over time.

I have sent all council people my opposition to this deal along with our city manager. With a promise to even having NO AMP signs printed and located throughout the city.

The city manager offered to have a conversation about AMI, well I've heard it all before and the city is 5 million dollars poorer over AMP-OHIO deals. You wonder what they have to do for this administration to say "No Thank-You".

It's almost as if that 4.5 M is burning a hole in someone's pocket? Look here's an idea use that 4.5 million to cut our electric cost rates? A reverse Power Factor.

I(n the coming months the city must present reasons this investment will benefit the stockholder's of the Painesville Electric Co. (US) not them or AMP-OHIO.

Do you think this issue is enough to propose they not get involved?  Please let me know.

Ever wonder why they had no public showing of the new City Works Facility?

Wonder if Napoleon, Ohio has smart meters?

AMP's Board of Trustees explore four scenarios that members might follow;

1. Independent action with individual technology deployment at each utility.
2. Independent action and selection of a vendor-provided hosting solution.
3. Joint action and selection of a single vendor-provided hosting solution.
4. Joint action and deployment of a single shared set of technologies

* AMP-OHIO picked #4 for us.

Another question to ask your council person what does Blueridge Infrastructure Services, have to do with this. As well as the Silver Spring Network?

I guess I am amazed that, for the most part, we have new people in positions in both the Administration and Council but we are seeing the same garbage.

How stupid does one have to be to realize that ANY deal with this company is a bad deal for the City?

Furthermore, who is filling the new CM's head with AMP goodness? She was not here the last time so, at least in theory, she should be able to look at the facts objectively and realize that the City got screwed the first time around. What in the world could make her think that this time it will be better??

That doesn't even get into whether the electric plant should be kept "operating". That facility is like a giant shell game. Guess where we put the yearly $4M savings this time.

Nope, this sounds like it is already a done deal and we are going to get bent over again. Too bad no one seems to listen when the citizens speak.

5:03 Storrs St. The reason I mentioned it only because
12:44 how much money out of another electric fund was used to pay for it? Outside as well as inside. (that's a story for another day)
12:44 The driver will have to carry a book with stipulations around with him. To sell a popsicle for a buck!
12:41 I believe Ms. Irelan came AMP brainwashed.

Just think since these 'smart' meters use communication devices, wonder how hard it would be to Hack into one? Some 400lb.guy sitting in his basement and decides to shut your power off... or increase or decrease what that 'smart' meter is sending to it's main frame?

1244. If think so little of your city council , why was your name not on the ballet. At least I don’t think your name was there, also if you look at they are trying to do. They are trying to get into the new age. Every utility is switching to auto meter reading. This is try to lower cost, and get better reads. It will allow you to check your usage day by day to help you try to cut your cost. This will be done for the water meters at a later date. After that the only person the city will need is a person to check bad readings , complaints, and do shut offs and turn OnStar.

I really don’t see a real problem with the system, which is in use around the country

12:40 Can't speak for 12:44 but my problem is with who we decided to contract this with. AMP-OHIO they have burned us numerous times and what makes anyone think this time will be different? Lower costs for who consumer or provider? If for consumer how much saving? And why is AMP-OHIO monitoring this and not the city? At what cost to the city? Will the meters be purchased independently or through AMP-OHIO? Who will do Installation? AMP-OHIO
Trust me AMP-OHIO isn't doing this out of the goodness of their hearts!

Right now if you have a dispute with the city about how much water you used, or electric, you never win. Never. They charge what they want to, and if you are someone that they are screwing with, they have been known to repeatedly screw with your bills. Now if there are new meters, they'll probably be able to adjust those to say whatever they want. I can't believe that we just voted the same people in office. I've been in this city for about 25 years now, and I never knew one time when the citizens caught a break from being abused and screwed by the people running this city, and now here we go again. I mean, AMP OHIO...AGAIN??!! Are you kidding me?

if I remember right I believe when the city had the candidates for city manager and the profiles were published I believe it said Mrs. Irelan was a former employee or on an AMP board. I believe this is where this is coming from. wonder if she or the city will be getting a kickback. like the trash contract, bet we get a kickback for cable also.

12:44 question: if this is the future I want no part of this. Biggest problem for the future IMHO, we are tied to an archaic grid. When this city signed the AMP Ohio contract it stated we would never have meters we could pay back into the he system if we had alternative energy options. As technology moves forward each residential house has the ability to become its own “power plant” and at time producing more than can be used. The easy option would be to sell it back to the grid or power source. Amp made sure no resident in this city would have that ability and since our council hired a former AMP trustee I think we should all be asking an awful lot questions. Check into New York power, some residents produce enough power with solar panels they are being paid. Can you imagine our council doing that for our residents....... so fed up with our backward thinking in the ‘ville.

4:17 Another AMP-OHIO deal.
2:37 She is well versed in AMP policies
1:41 I knew a resident years back that the city charged him $100.00 because the strap on his meter was broken? No police, no hearing just a $100. charge? I have known this person most of my life and we wouldn't steal an apple off a tree let alone electricity. He had the police investigate and numerous homes in that area had bands broken. At a city council meeting the than city manager apologized and returned the resident's $100.00 most never heard because that was the week city hall caught on fire and no channel 12.
Again city hall appears to want to work against resident's instead of for them. Ever wonder why?

10:02 this is 1:41. That person was probably someone who had complained to the city about something, or challenged them on something. Then you get on their list, and they play sick games with you, and overcharge you, and harass you, and this can go on for decades. It doesn't matter if there's a new city manager, or whatever, it goes on, especially with a couple of women in the utility office who have been here for decades and apparently get off on abusing the citizens over and over and over and over again. I think Rita McMahon, former city manager, was a ringleader with this stuff, and delighted in it when the employees "got" someone. But now with new management, it seems nothing changes. It's just embedded in this town now, and it helps make this such a crappy place to live. Unless you're an illegal; then all is well, of course.

Just a little miscellaneous aside about this city and how it treats its citizens:

I hit a bad hole in the road one night. It was situated in such a way that I didn't see it coming. It badly jolted my car, and for the first time in my life, I could tell that I badly needed an alignment. I called the city to make sure they fixed the hole before someone on a bicycle or motorcycle got killed there, and requested a claim form. Well, I did get the claim form, but you have to make a claim with your own insurance company first, before anything falls back on the city. Surely they know that most people are not going to make a claim with their own insurance company, so they end up with no claim filed against the city. Congratulations, Painesville, I'm out the cost of an alignment, and you have successfully screwed me -- again.

6:08 I can't think it's anyone in the billing office, but here's something I noticed according to code you are not allowed to have a fence in your front yard higher than three feet. Steel, wood, brick but it appears burlap is O.K.? Corner S. State and Walnut yes and a Hispanic owns the property. So before someone says no special rules look at that property? No problem but it does cause a traffic hazard.

Again, Hispanic owns the property and the fine folks in city hall wont do a dang thing to them but they will harass the heck out of the long standing residents. Who said Hispanics are above the law was correct.

Term,
I wondered about that location when I saw it. It is impossible to see to the south or west depending on your direction of travel.
Being owned by someone who didn't start here just takes it to another level. Sounds like Mr Lewis is afraid to make a problem with HOLA.
