"NO MORE MR. NICE GUY" alice cooper

No more Mister Nice Guy
They say he's sick, he's obscene.

Well next Thursday the 26th we will have our second "Meet The Candidate Night" at Harvey High.

Although I am thankful for the presentation I believe we would find out more about the candidates if the questions weren't censored by the moderator as well as asking all 6 or 7 the same question. Here's a few ideas.

Fitzgerald
Tom, you missed many council meetings as well as work session's in your first term. Is there any reason for the resident's to think this will change if elected to a second term?

Padilla
You claim in your campaign literature you are a 23 year Painesville resident, a 13 year employee of Painesville City Schools and yet you only became a citizen in 2011. Could you explain how you accomplished this?

Werner
What are your views n Policy 413 ? If passed by council what would you do? What's your stance on this issue?

Acosta
However? What exactly does that mean when discussing Painesville's Safety Forces? Are you aware of what percentage of the city's general fund goes? When it comes to the budget how can we know what you might "gift" The Downtown Organization with? More funding DPO or for safety forces?

Ferguson
Do we really need a council person to facilitate to bridge the gap between Lake Erie College, the city administration as well as the local schools? How will any of this improve housing prices and make Painesville a more welcoming community? What is an underrepresented population, please explain?

Montgomery
Being an entrepreneur, what direct suggestions do you have to get the ball rolling in Painesville? Presently Painesville's Economic Development ain't cutting it. Are you aware of the SRO program at Harvey? And at Heritage if they ever get it together over there.

Fodor
I have to ask as you retired from being Assistant Superintendent for Painesville City Schools were you satisfied in what you had accomplished there? The blame for things like the 50% policy were not your fault but it seems you condoned the direction our schools were headed in. Besides the 'Process' what will you bring to the table this time you haven't brought forth already.

Now realistically I don't expect any of these questions to be asked next Thursday. I will hear about our diversity and great future just around the corner.

I have to give you credit.
Every one of those questions is valid and should be answered.

More questions for Werner:
1. Will you resume your practice of using your council position to bloviate about the noise coming from Jackie's?
2. Will you resume your practice of complaining about "the illegals" while doing absolutely nothing about crumbling roads and bridges?
3. Do you really think people felt you were an effective ward councilperson? If so, explain which pieces of legislation you are most proud of. (spoiler alert: Matricular ID)
4. Your campaign signs have taglines such as "ACCCOUNTABILITY" and "CRIME FREE STREETS". Please explain city-specific actions you will take to help accomplish these.

I can probably answer your question to Padilla, she probably had a (green card) which makes you a legal resident and legally allowed to work but does not make you a citizen, that's another step and process.

Most of if not all of these candidates and council persons have or had connections to the city schools. After hearing and reading about them, I would like to ask them if they are aware they are running for or on CITY council. Much of the buzz was about the schools and their connection to them. I'm sorry but that is NOT what a council person does. They need to learn and know this. Yes they both are to compliment each other but council does not have say or run the schools.

8:35 As if the school system is the shining example of our city? Maybe a reason not to vote for them?
4:49 Ms. Padilla is capable of answering her own questions.
2:25 If council had listened to Hal when he was on council we would presently be 2 million dollars richer?
Please don't assume this as an endorsement only a fact I am aware of.

You know term your going to have to get off that bad power deal. Everyone that was involved in that is gone, and for right now we are stuck in a contract that no one seems to be able to find a way out. And until that happens we are stuck, so save your time on beating on a dead horse. You really need to find another windmill to joust with, and maybe you can win that battle

Serious question for you.
Does having a green card give one a Social Security number in order to pay SS tax (like every US citizen, other than government workers, has to pay)?
If it does, no problem.
If not, then she was scamming the system, right?

11:54 I just stated a fact, and you are incorrect Paul Hach is still on council and he voted for the Meigs County power plant. Your right what the Hell is a 2 million dollar mistake around here?

Answer Questions? How is that to be done? Through a facilitator? In a couple of hours? Nope - They had to write questions on paper then addressed. Where or when will there be a face to face open forum for questions? That's one I'd like to be present for.

Not sure I understand this:
What are your views n Policy 413 ? If passed by council what would you do? What's your stance on this issue?
Council doesn't make policies (they can't figure that out though) They do not run the city. Policy 413 was presented by Powalie. It hasn't been passed yet? Is council even needed to pass it?

Term, 2:25 here.

I don't think it was your intend, but you've actually helped prove my point about Hal. He may have been right about Meigs (blind squirrel & nuts as far as I'm concerned), but he couldn't sway council to do the right thing. Couple that, with his track record on literally everything else, and it demonstrates to me that he was an ineffective councilman. I have no reason to believe he will be any better as an at-large councilman!

It's a damn shame that Fitzgerald's attendance record is such a joke, because now I'm seriously considering voting for the unknown - Acosta - simply because I don't have any ill feelings about her.

yes a green card does give a social security card. these people are legally allowed to work and pay taxes like citizens, only they have no right to vote and probably not allowed to run for any office requiring citizenship. to become a citizen they have to be a green card holder for 5-10 years minimum depending on circumstances than pay a huge fee to apply for citizenship heavily background checked by the FBI and homeland security and had to have been a model person during the time they were a green card holder than if they qualify pass a test in english on the way our country runs. I know bad people do get through but that is the procedure. maybe this city does need schooled on immigration, people on the work visas also get a social security card and pay taxes but their card has written on it valid for work only with authorization (their work visa)

Off topic, per se, but does anyone have an opinion out there about the drug issue on the ballot in the upcoming general election? Does anyone know who is telling the truth? I have not had the time to sit down and research this yet, but I'm becoming doubtful that I will be able to tell what the truth is, and time is running short. Anyone?

5:46 I was going to do a post on the subject but the more I read, learned about the subject the more it confused me. I guess if your a veteran, or on Medicare you should vote no? I have tried to find out the funding of these ads and what a tale they weave.
8:53 That answer's the green card tax question, seems that would become the logical way to become a U.S. citizen.
6:22 I see your point you know two but not the third? I don't know what to tell you, city council should never be used for on the job training and again how much worse can it be through your eyes?
1:03 I guess there never should have been a Policy 413 and if it was up to me it would find itself in the round filing cabinet on the floor. But no we must move something anything forward.

It seems like the governor, or someone, should have an ad telling us what is correct on this drug issue. How in the heck are we supposed to sort this out? It's just getting harder and harder to know how to vote with all the lies. Honestly, I can't make heads or tails out of this issue.

Disagree - Yes there should be 413 - It was fine the way it was. I just dont understand who and why a handful of busybodies from out of this town are able to push their opinions and sway our city officials on this.

Hello Hal No and Term, Acosta is not running against Hal Werner or Tom Fitzgerald. Padilla is the challenger. I predict that Ana Padilla will steal votes away from Fitzgerald and that Crazy Hal will win the vote.

Dora Acosta's story

September 6, 2013

On the campus of Lake Erie College, Dora Acosta told her story.
She came to the United States with her parents as an 8-year-old. She grew up in Painesville and received a full scholarship to Lake Erie College, but had to turn it down because she did not have a green card. In order to accept, she would have had to return to Mexico and reapply as an international student but risk deportation.
She has since received permanent residence in the United States. She said she was able to prove that life in the United States would benefit her family because her son has a kidney problem that would be better helped here.
However, her husband still faces challenges to staying with her.

March 5, 2016

CLEVELAND -- Friday marked a milestone for Dora Acosta. The Painesville woman, who came to the United States as a youngster from Mexico, became a citizen during a Naturalization Oath Ceremony at the Carl B. Stokes U. S. Courthouse.

Three years to the day earlier, Acosta's husband, Luis Nicosia Padilla, was released from detention by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He had been arrested in a traffic stop in Lake County as an undocumented immigrant. He was facing deportation.

"I met Dora three years ago when she came to our meeting, crying because her husband had been taken in to custody by I.C.E.," said Veronica Dahlberg, executive director of HOLA Ohio. "Her family was going to be separated, and she had young children. We were able to get him out of detention after six weeks."

Padilla was eventually granted a stay of removal. Every year he must report to I.C.E. with the risk of being deported.

Acosta gained residency status, and after five years became eligible to become a citizen.
"I wanted to have the ability to vote," Acosta said. "I also wanted to help in my husband's case. The lawyer recommended I become a citizen to help in his case so we could stay together. I hope my becoming a citizen will allow his status to be adjusted so he can stay in the country and won't have to report to I.C.E. every year."

"It's important for people to take the step of citizenship," said Dahlberg. "There are 8 million people eligible to become citizens, and only 10 percent actually do.

"You can't fully become a part of this country until you can vote. Your vote is your voice."
"I want to be a voice to all the citizens who can't vote," Acosta said. "I want to be the voice of all the families who are at risk of being separated."

BUSINESSES ARE COMING!! From the News Herald - Economic Development Department addressed multiple sites in the city, included the Chase Bank, former Dollar Bank. former Gill Schwartz building, Concord Road Equipment, former Lake Photo Building, the vacant property at 265 North State St.; Federico Tire, 71 S State St.; a former gas station, West Walnut; and Triangle at Bank and State St.
Bieterman said the Chase Bank building has a prospect tied to 60 jobs, an average $25 hourly wage and investment of $7.5 million; and the former Dollar Bank building has a prospect tied to a $800,000 to $1 million investment. SCD Management is expected to bring 10 new jobs with $10 to $15 per hour salaries to the former Gill Schwartz building; and Concord Road Equipment and Federico Tire are expanding. Also, a proposed Hispanic Community Center at 265 North State St. is currently before the Planning Commission, she said. ANY BETS on this??? Nothing will come to fruition EXCEPT the Hispanic Community Center cause that's the way Painesville rolls here.

6:22: I beg you not to vote for a Hispanic. It's just putting another nail in the coffin in the city of Painesville and the United States of America. The Hispanics keep track of every person in any position of authority in America; it's their way of keeping track of how close they are to running the country completely. Check what has happened to other cities when the Hispanics take over. You see what is happening here, and as they are fighting for the control of this city, they are now putting Hispanics up for office in each section. I beg you to choose one of the others, no matter how disappointing they may seem to you. Please.

I got a phone call yesterday with an offer to join a supposed ongoing discussion on the drug issue. I couldn't tell if it was all a previously recorded fake discussion or a real one. Someone did ask the woman and man who were conducting the phone call who they were. I am pretty sure, in hindsight, that they just said their own names, and not who they were affiliated with, and what their interest was in this (and why). The woman just kept saying that they wanted the Ohio government to be able to purchase drugs cheaper, meaning for Medicaid, I think she said, and that would save a lot of money that could go back into the state coffers. She said it had failed in California, because of all the negative, untrue ads, and that it was their hope that it would pass here, and then spread across the entire country. So, for at least right now, the reduction in drug prices would be for the Ohio government only, and apparently not for individual citizens. That was my takeaway anyway; I hope I'm correct, and not making a mistake here, but I think that was the whole thing they were saying. I don't really have enough information yet, so I hope nobody makes a decision on their vote based on what I am about to say, but it seemed kind of hokey to me, and I'm not sure it's not just a whole fake thing to mislead people. Please anyone who knows anything, chime in. I don't know why someone in the government does not tell us what is best for Ohio and for the citizens on this issue. Surely they must know the confusion concerning it, when clearly one side is lying through their teeth.

7:35 I seem to be able to figure things out by following the money. Not easy on this one. Presently I going with the Veterans?
6:04 we are reduced to begging?
8:07 nothing here to increase city financials is there? Jobs in the Chase building could be a boost to downtown.

12:36, this is 6:04 and, yes, begging. I am begging for the survival of my country, and I have no shame in that.

On another note, now we see what Dahlberg is saying she wants the building at 265 North Street for -- a Hispanic Community Center. Do we have a non-Hispanic community center in town? It's my guess that she probably also wants a place for the newly-arrived illegals to come for help settling in. Nobody is offering to give me a free building, or anyone else that I know. We're losing our town, people, not to mention our country. So, again, please do not vote for the Hispanics. You can be sure that all the Hispanics will be voting for them, so every vote counts against them. Please vote, and please do not vote to finish giving away our town.

It is funny that you mention a "community center". That very term was used by the Community Development director in her speaking before Council at the last meeting. I thought it was odd when it occurred and maybe just a slip of the tongue.
This makes me wonder if there is more that we have not been told.
Another back room deal like the "pot farm"??

A community center for the Hispanics? Will they share with the non-hispanics? So the Ville gets one for a said group but the rest of us don't get one? Seems very one-sided to me.

3:57, I think we can be sure there is a LOT more than we have been told. This has always been a slimy city as far as management is concerned, meaning manager and council, and I think it still is. God only knows what is going on behind our backs when what we can actually see is so bad.

At November 3, 2017 at 7:50 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

This town has been begging for illegals to come here for many years now, and they cater to them as if it is THEY who are the legal citizens. They are now giving them free buildings, and free community centers, and writing illegal laws concerning the illegals that break our federal laws to protect them and to cater to their so very sensitive sensibilities. Every incumbent needs to be voted out, and absolutely no Hispanics need to be voted in. And you can be sure that every Hispanic that can vote, will be voting for the Hispanics, because that's what they do. That means anyone who is not Hispanic that can legally vote, needs to get out to vote (or vote absentee, if it's not too late), and make sure you vote for someone who is not Hispanic.

I just love to hear the city justify their illegal-catering, right down to our laws. And the same thing with the church that is going to hide or is already hiding the illegal now. Listen to them give their reasons for breaking the federal laws. I hope this incident with the church will bring ICE here and alert them to this whole problem we have going on. Hopefully enough people have notified them that this is a sanctuary city, and now with this, it may get them out here.

And these people just leave their children behind if they have to, instead of taking them back with them. It's nobody's fault that families get divided but theirs. They should have stayed in their own countries, for one thing.

Our government needs to stop reading the anchor baby amendment incorrectly, and stop giving away our country to every cheater and liar on this planet.

And to the church I will say, God gave us the Ten Commandments, and he did not want rules and laws broken. I hope your deeds bring ICE here.

Learning about Fitz i cant believe how this Tag-along city administration is.Before you critic me or discredit me i will have to say my mistake was moving to Painesville. Hal demonstrated a common sense approach and made me confident that more exist in this city. Realize my realtor was a snake-oil salesman. Again don't down me Anonymous trolls. @6:30 - ROFLMBO. Thanks for the assurance that you're not a "hillbilly uneducated fool." Otherwise, I might have concluded that you're a hillbilly, uneducated fool. By the way, it is not your spelling commenters that gives it away. It is more your complete lack of regard for proper punctuation and grammar.
