"DOWNTOWN" petula clark 2.0

Don't hang around and let your troubles surround you

 Instead you can just leave?

Fine we added a Bait Shop, Bike Shop and probably a Brewery to our downtown have we lost anything along the way?

It has come to my attention that our Congressman David Joyce, happens to be closing his Painesville office in the New Market Mall and moving west to Mentor?

Now don't get me wrong but the Bait, and Bike shop's are nice but honestly Painesville loses some esteem when you lose a congressional office? But wait We lost a hospital, and a county health department that weren't even on a public transportation route why not a congressman's office?

Did city administrators and/or, Downtown Painesville Organization know this was happening? Did either ever have contact with the congressman's office? Ever? Just maybe this move could have been avoided/prevented?

Painesville is the county seat and therefore it makes sense his office would be located close by. Were all the demonstration's in Veterans Park the reason for the move? Rent prices? Will we ever know?

Just another cavity to fill in our illustrious Downtown. Maybe we should spend MORE money on those two blocks?  Quick Monica more flower pots! Police on horseback or Bicycles!

Like you, I have to wonder the real reason for the office moving.
What does the Community Development office do to prevent something like this? Apparently not enough.

needless the say, the timing of David Joyce's move is a little suspicious. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the repeated immigrant and DACA demonstrations that have taken place outside his office over the past year. Right? Call me cynical, but hey, he knows where the bulk of his constituency is--affluent, white Mentor.

I heard from a pretty reliable source that The owner of Victoria Place neglected to fix the roof after being asked multiple times. Apparently the leak was pretty bad.

I know this is off subject but is anyone aware that the city has been renting toilets for the city yard on Storrs for the low cost of 3,500 a month for over a year?

Super Pumped!! A grocery store may be coming to Painesville City! Not sure how far along it is but hopefully hearing something soon. I saw on Facebook someone mentioned DiCarlos at Erie & Elm. Anyone else remember this, way before Koroshi martial arts studio.

Term. To answer your question 'lost anything along the way?' What about that couple million to AMP OHIO?

6:54 If it only was a couple of million? We are and were paying some of the highest prices for power do to listening to AMP-OHIO and their experts. Now the city will tell you our electric portfolio is diverse, it is but no excuse to getting into poor power deals.
12:35 Hope your right but don't hold your breathe, Yes that's what was on the corner when I was a kid.
3:27 seems like an issue the city could have resolved with the tenant and landlord?
5:12 It's Painesville City need I say more?
11:16 Well it appears someone dropped the ball? I viewed the ribbon-cutting of the new bait shop downtown on Facebook. When the city dignitaries were done there they should of went to Joyce's office and helped him pack it just might have made an impression.

DiCarlos was on corner of Elm and Erie Streets in early 60's. Lived across the street from it as a kid.

My Bad - not so pumped now. I found out the plan is a Mexican grocery store in that building. That makes 4 Mexican grocery stores ZERO brand name non Mexi grocers. BTW right behind that building, every weekend is a garage sale/ flea market that not one city official has shut down (only 3 sales a year) Again, the rules are different for American VS Mexicans. I think the city is afraid of them so the will continue to pick on those of us they aren't afraid to go after.

As for Dave Joyce, I have had several conversations and emails where he stands by his contention that the law needs to be upheld where illegal immigration and secure borders were concerned. Lip Service?

5:58 Maybe out of sight out of mind? He make believe that but his political donor's don't.
5:56 I knew but I didn't want to "pop your bubble" quite yet. Odd your telling me they arte afraid of people that can't vote them out of office and not afraid of those that can? Hal Werner's vote total might tell you something?

1:02. Hal Werner's vote total means nothing. He was a jerk in office before, to say the least, and nobody wanted him back.

Everyone knew going into the election Mr Werner wasnt gonna win. If you ran or Mr Murphy against him either of you would be a shoe in.

8:28 You keep believing that?
1:42 What other horse did you have in the race? Hal was the only candidate to bring your views forward, now you got zilch.

9:03. It's good that you're so happy. Soon the illegals will have the country, and you can be ecstatic. It's not worth talking to some people, 8:28 and 1:42, and someone at the maturity level of 9:03 is one of them. He sucks his thumb while throwing a tantrum, and he's against you just to be against you.
