"WHO ARE YOU" the who

Who are you?
Who, who, who, who?

Watched the city council meeting on video, it seems Ward III seat was vacant although former councilman Mike DeLeone did address council from the audience.
Things are awful quiet who will represent Ward III for the unfinished term? I know more people that won't than who might.
Rumor's rumors  everyone from Rev. Marbel, to Richard Tibbits to Mary Hada?

More Painesville stuff?

The "Taste of Painesville" is now just called "The Taste"

Friend's of Morley Library have ended their Christmas tree decoration and sales. This provided a gift for someone who had everything.

Two people wondered why the new lady has left the Lake County Historical Society already.

Construction on the new NS trestle is moving along quickly (not a government project)

People are still somehow managing to use Walnut St. in front of Harvey High?

Lazy Hazy days of summer in the Ville'

When I was part of the Friends of Morley Library, they always had trouble finding people to set up/tear down the displays at Riders Inn, partly because set-up was the day after Thanksgiving. Along with that, they had problems recruiting younger people, who were more apt to be physically able. This is also a major reason why they stopped selling books at Party in the Park, even if they won't admit it publicly.

I love the comment on the new trestle. Shows what can be done when people seeking election are not involved. That thing will be built the contractors will be long gone before another shovel full of dirt moves on the Vrooman Rd bridge.
Our County and State officials should all be completely embarrassed by their actions (or lack of).

12:09 The shareholders of the railroad expect results or heads will roll. Government shareholder's like ourselves expect little? When you see the amount of time it took to build the Golden State Bridge or Hoover Dam you realize how badly this situation has become.

11:20 I will never criticize any volunteer for sacrificing their time for the good of a group. But where is it written in stone the tree's must go up on 'Black Friday'? Why not the Tuesday before or after Thanksgiving? The library paid for the tree's and gave them out to be decorated. Why not put a deposit on the tree when picked up and give the deposit back when they bring the tree back decorated? The talent of some of those tree's and wreathes were outstanding , as well as a moneymaker for Morley.

You should have titled this post "The Sounds of Silence" What could be such a big secret about who will replace Delone? They must be looking for another Christine who just wants to be liked? Term don't expect a free thinker.

1013 you are right. Council wants a bobble headed yes person. NOT a strong person. I know a few people that would love to be on council, but not with some of those on it now. I almost passed out when I heard council goes to Vegas and DC for conventions (probably other places too) Council? Vegas? all on the taxpayers dime. Shame, what a waste.

The Friends of Morley Library chose the day after Thanksgiving because, in part, they wanted the trees & wreaths to be on display in time for the expected heavy crowds at Riders Inn that weekend. Also, it normally wasn't busy at the inn on Black Friday, so there weren't that many patrons to disturb with the set-up activities. The volunteers who did the actual heavy lifting and moving were and are wonderful; the problem was/is, it's always the same few people, which is where the inability to get younger people to join the Friends affects them considerably.

Whoa! Not so fast kids. The railroad initiated the bridge replacement process over three years ago. If you think the railroads are nimble corporations, you are delusional. If you have a project that needs input from a railroad, you have to budget for long delays without any explanation from them. Railroads, at best, are example of some of the worst of modern business practices when it comes to community relations and partnering. The railroads are old , stuck in their ways and have more money than brains; kinda like some city governments.

1:58 Sad to see that tradition end.

8:07 My point they are a lot more 'nimble' than government. Railroads must stay nimble or they loss business.

10:56 First I've heard of Conventions?
Seems there's a cabal between the schools and the city?
What next send council to Germany?

I can't tell from your writing whether you are condemning the railroad or trying to justify a government project that has gone nowhere for 3+ years. You sound to me like you are involved with the bridge project and trying to deflect blame. Of course, if that is the case, you would never admit it.

Sometimes before you write, you need to know a little more than you apparently know. So the railroad "initiated" the replacement of the bridge three years ago? Well, before I retired, I worked for a utility company and I had the plans for the relocated Vrooman Rd bridge on my desk PRIOR to 1994. I would say that 3 years is a LOT faster than 23 years.

Even using the numbers you cite (and I am going to assume that you are correct), the railroad initiated their bridge replacement at about the time the County was clearing land on both sides of the Grand River valley. That was as far as the Vrooman Rd project got but the railroad got their planning done, contracts issued, and the work is well underway. You tell me, who has made progress?

I don't recall that I wrote that railroads are "nimble". In fact I never even thought it. What I did say is the the new trestle is likely to be completed and the contractors will have long moved on before another shovel full of dirt gets moved on the Vrooman Rd bridge. Three years of getting nothing done would seem to prove me right. Time will tell.

Railroads are in the business of making money. They are not going to replace something this major and this expensive without good cause and planning. The point I would make is that once they started construction, it has been going non-stop and will do so until completion. Can you say the same concerning Vrooman Rd project? Of course, not.

BTW, I will readily admit, from dealing with them through my job, that railroads are difficult to deal with. They are controlled by Federal authority and don't feel the need to answer to any local government. OTOH, Cleveland Muny Power is exactly the same.

My point is that the relocated bridge was never needed but was rammed down the throats of residents. We were told that it was a better escape route in case of problems at the Perry nuke plant. You know, that plant that has been in place for, what, 25 years or so? A little late, don't you think?

The issue that I am raising is that because of no work being done on the relocated bridge, the existing bridge is one lane and controlled by a traffic signal. This has been this way for more than 3 years. You think this is acceptable?? If so, you obviously never use this road. Additionally there has been next to no maintenance on Vrooman Rd during this time. The road surface just continues to deteriorate.

My understanding is that the County dropped the ball on getting the proper permits from the regulatory bodies involved. If this is true, I wonder if the person(s) who screwed up so royally is/are still on the County payroll? If they are, I have to ask, why?? Hundreds or thousands of people are inconvenienced every day by not having a two lane road across the valley and no one is accountable? You think that is acceptable? If you do, then you are the one who is delusional.

If any council members are sent to Germany, I hope they are given one-way tickets.

I was notified that the Veterans Administration will be located in the old Kaiser Hospital in Willoughby? Seems your idea about LakeEast wasn't so far fetched?

Actually odot did a study to extend rt2 to lane rd and the high level vrooman bridge to have a st route between 2 & 90 back in the 70s.
It wasn't warranted then so odot dropped the idea. The county took over the idea of high level vrooman back in the early 80s. It was never an evacuation route for the nuke plant.current administration lied to the public on that and many other issues. If you the feel the county screw-up needs to be fired then don't reelect him,
Odot now is trying to fix the counties screw-ups and the bridge may never be built. Heads may start flying soon.
