"COAL MINER'S DAUGHTER" loretta lynn

Well I was borned a coal miner's daughter
In a cabin on a hill in Butchers Hollow

SOUTHERN COMPANY SHORES UP MISSISSIPPI POWER WITH $1 BILLION AFTER DECISION NOT TO BURN COAL AT KEMPER

Russell Grantham for the Atlantic Journal-Constitution;

Southern company said it injected $1 Billion in additional capital into it's Mississippi subsidiary after it decided last week , under pressure from state regulators, to pull the plug on a troubled "clean coal" plant.

The Atlanta utility holding company's shares have dropped about 7 percent since the Mississippi Public Service Commission told Mississippi Power last month that the utility should absorb $6.5 billion in losses and cost overruns at the first of it's kind Kemper plant.

The stock priced decline over the past two weeks has wiped out roughly $3.7 billion of Southern stock market value.

In a monthly filing on the status of the Kemper plant.
Southern said 3.4 billion of the Kemper plant's costs are not yet reflected in it's Mississippi customers' rates. If the Mississippi regulator does not allow Mississippi Power to recover those costs, Southern said it will have to recognize a related charge against its second quarter income.

The Mississippi regulators also recently told the utility that the Kemper plant should only burn natural gas, prompting Southern 'decision last week to suspend efforts to operate a coal "gasification" unit at the plant. The 7.5 billion plant was designed to convert cheap lignite coal into synthetic gas, but it never run properly.

So what has any of this has to do with Painesville?

Close as I can tell Prairie State Energy Campus is the last of the coal fired electric plant's and we are shareholder's who will pay for higher electric power costs as well as associated clean-up costs. Hell we not only own the power plant , but the adjacent mine including the shaft!
(see; AMP-OHIO, Rita McMahon, Joseph Hada)

That said there is no such thing a reasonable priced "clean coal energy"

Then again we are either the most gullible people or ones who love being lied too!

Our President has promised to bring miner's jobs back . Well the daughter up in Butcher's Hollow has a long wait ahead of her. He lied! plain and simple.

Don't get to excited by a new coal mine starting operation chances are it will cause three existing mines to shutdown?

On his recent visit to Poland he made mention of shipping liquefied gas to their country. Not a mention of coal of any kind? They don't want the crap either!

GRAB THEM BY THE SHOVEL!

I believe the outcome of the Prairie State Energy fiasco is primarily the result of deceit, corruption, ignorance and stupidity. The facility developers knew what they were doing and schmoozed the stakeholders into accepting a complex deal they didn't fully understand. Local elected officials and administrators rarely have the in-depth expertise to analyze complex deals and need to trust their "advisors" or at least ask the questions to understand the reasons for support and opposition to something before voting on it. The outcome of the lawsuit was disappointing but I remember thinking something something was off in the reporting. The judicial system is just as prone to corruption as the executive and legislative branches. Anyone that can't accept this should click their heels together and go back to Kansas. Peabody and company had a lot to loose which means they had a lot to spend to break if the case was decided against them. The phrase "be ever vigilant" comes to mind but how many of us have the resources to do so?
