"HOT CHILI" steve miller band
And there is nothing you gotta do but eat hot chili
Quick recap of Monday night council meeting.
We started the meeting off with the organization part of the meeting. Council President Hach started the meeting with thanking council for another term...Tara Grimm chimed in not yet!
All four ward members were sworn in and went into executive session to vote on a Council President and Vice-President. Thirty five minutes later they retuned to vote Paul Hach President and Lori DiNallo Vice-President? really thirty-five minutes to leave things the way they were?
The reissuance of bonds was left on first reading.
Prairie State Energy Campus bit the dust.
Sidewalk replacement Program The administration will present a report at the next council meeting.
Now let me tell you what I observed at the meeting. It seemed that only councilman Fodor and to a lesser extent councilman DeLeone understand the purpose of a city council. Mr. Fodor expressed that although PSEC will no longer be on the agenda he expects monthly reports from the electric department on cost coming from the plant as well as AMP-OHIO. Mr. Fodor as well as Mr. DeLeone presently have the opinion that the city has many issues that this city will face in the coming year.
Now from the other side of the dais it seemed the most concerning issue is to challenge council people in the up coming Chili Cook off! 20,000 people and a city with a budget of over $70,000,000 and we talk about Chili! Well I guess I'm back in grade school ? We have many needs in this town please address those issues before the Chili and Ice Cream socials!
I suggest all council members get the different committees together and address all the problems we have from the vacant property ordinance , safety issues and such that presently the two grown-ups on council want to address.
Cleveland Browns cleaned house the other day, their first new hire the N.Y. Mets vice president of scouting and player development? Why not, nothing else seems to work and hey a ball a ball?
24 Comments:
All work and no play make Jack a dull boy.
Hmmm, chili cook off vs. a power plant we don't need and a contract we can't get out of.
Which is, or at least should be, more important to the average tax payer?
7:08 I guess that's up to the council person?
5:23 All the play in the world won't help. At least they should do it on their time. Sometimes it brings me back to the Mickey Mouse Club? The Mouseteers ?
We need a senior center. What plans are in place when the current one is torn down? Pick paradise to put up a parking lot.
At least Hal Werner finally removed the campaign sign for his council bid from his front yard, so who says that nothing gets done in this town?
5:21 I guess my question is does Painesville bear the responsibility of finding a new home for a Senior Center? There was no forced sale of the present one or eminent domain issue. The County bought the building to put up county offices. Painesville presently provides the SC with $25,000 a year plus another $1,200 a month starting this Spring. My suggestion is to put a levy on the ballot and see if the community agrees with you?
cant the seniors move into old cedarbrook school?
A vote should have been taken to see if they wanted it turned into a parking lot for the county first. The county owns so much property here and Painesville gets very little if anything from them in return. Greedy.
12:57 That train has left the station. Many suggested that and the then BOE turned the idea down. Should have put Headstart in State St. School.
4:08 Well the Senior Center sold the property willingly. They accepted the price and now I guess someone has to make up the difference? Soon the city will be contributing over $3000.00 a month the center? I guess they could raise membership fees or put up on a levy but no more from city coffers.
Why on earth did the Senior center sell without a plan? When this happened I figured they had something else up their sleeve, guess not. Its better in Mentor,, Willoughby, Perry, Fairport, anywhere. This city stinks. I cant wait to sell my 100,000 house for 10,000 and get out.
5:37 Look at the leadership of our Senior Center for the answer to that one.
4:51, who is the leadership of the Senior Center?
I appreciate hearing the comments made by council at the end of the meetings when they tell us what's on their minds. I got a laugh when Jenkins promoted "delicious pastries" and Hach had to tell us how much fun he had at the golf outing. Come to think of it, I don't think Iv'e ever heard anything of substance come from Hach except a rumor that as long as he is president, Carson isn't going anywhere. Happy or sad, it looks like another year of the SOS.
7:03
William Horvath- Board President
Troy Hager- Vice President
Ken Marcinko - Treasurer
Board Members Albert DiIorio, Jeanette Crislip, Tom Guerra, David Luhta, Carol Fleck and Susan Walters.
6:39 Yes tat's why I attend council meetings to hear about carriage rides, pastries, chili and golf.
These are the Painesville Senior Center board members? Wow, how many of them are Painesville residents? Hager resides in Perry or Madison and they have a center. Some of the others I recognize from Concord or Township. NO, board members here should be residents to have the best interest of the people here.
Painesville Township also has funded the Painesville Senior Center for many years
11:33 To what amount per year?
Dear Rosetta Stone, Is anyone else here sick of hearing the commercial to learn Spanish - so you can converse with your neighbors? HA. The commercials should be reversed and in Spanish letting the non English speaking LEARN ENGLISH. This really frosts my flakes.
BTW/FYI Morley Library carries the Rosetta Stone programs. AND the YMCA has classes to learn English PLUS the city schools have the advocate program. SO What's the Excuse?
So Bill Horvath is the Board President of the Senior Center? Can't we get rid of him and Rita McMahon (former city manager) already? I'll throw in Joe Hada, too. These people have basically ruined Painesville, and they're finally out of leadership positions for the actual city of Painesville, and yet they're still wrecking things all over town by still being in charge of different things. Unbelievable really.
Not sure currently but 4-5 years ago the Township was paying $25,000 per year which is why they had residents on the board. Probably paying as much or more now.
7:44 is on to something. The local leadership comes across as an inbred clique that keeps each other in influential positions. It seems that, as like minded people, if they don't know someone from high school, that person can't be any good, have good ideas or important concerns. However, all is OK if that person had a lot of money. It's not uncommon in local government but Painesville is especially afflicted.
3:52 I don't think it's a high school clique but remember many alliances were formed and nurtured over the past 30 some years. Look around what did it get us? Look how long it took to accept Steele Mansion? I don't even know if this town can even make a comeback anymore? That clique will end up being the biggest losers for blindly following.
7:44
In an funny ironic way, you are slightly incorrect.
Our very own Term was classmates with the aforementioned Joe Hada.
It hasn't helped him one bit, right Angelo?
5:39 never asked for any help or given any. I will admit I voted numerous times for Joe Hada because he was a classmate.
Along from what I have witnessed there are two Joe's.
