Is there an epidemic in our fine town of Painesville?
The reason I ask is in the last six months I have had three acquaintances involved in minor accidents involving drivers with no automobile insurance? Is this a local issue or is it state wide?
One friend had a minor side swipe that cost him a mirror. The police were called a ticket was issued for driving left of center and another for no insurance. The driver was allowed to leave and the officer told my friend they would receive a notice from the State of Ohio?
Today when I renewed my license plates the clerk asked me if I had insurance. She handed me something to sign to show financial responsibility never asking for any kind of proof of insurance? I guess my question why ask?
Now if you are stopped for an accident or a traffic infraction you are asked for your license, registration and proof of insurance? At that point in a chargeable accident not having insurance just seems to be a little to late at that point.
I guess if you are driving without a driver's license your car is towed to a impound lot. I wonder if having insurance shouldn't the same thing happen? And if not why not.
Again *I ask is this just a local problem or what percentage out there are uninsured drivers?
Why have a law with no consequences? I know there driving privilege's are taken away , but do you really think there not driving around ?

As a comparison, today went to the USPS office to mail a package.
The clerk, as they have done in the past, asked if there were batteries, flammable liquids, or a number of other things that are not approved in the package.
I said "no".
I was then directed to read a device that asked exactly the same thing and I had to hit "yes" or "no".
Being the smart ass that I am, I had to ask why they bother with asking me verbally when I am going to have to acknowledge the same thing on this device.
Made no sense to me.
I agree with you 100%. If stopped by an officer and you can provide proof of insurance, the car should be towed and impounded. No excuses and no exceptions.
The problem is that people who do not have insurance know that nothing will be done to them.

Heck, I have watched people walk out of Muny Court after having their license suspended and get in their car to drive away.

All happened in Painesville? That explains it if so. We break all the rules here and the criminals are the ones to get away with it.
It's not just Painesville. My sister, who lives near Lima, and sister-in-law, who lives in a suburb of Dayton, have shared anecdotes similar to yours involving people they know. This shouldn't be a surprise, though, since there's always been, and always will be, a segment of our society who believe that the risk of not abiding by the law is worth it. As to why this particular law is ignored, the primary reason that comes to mind is financial; the scofflaws either can't afford the premiums, or decide that they'd rather spend the money in other ways. Then there's those who can't be bothered with anything involving personal responsibility; unfortunately, Painesville is chock full of citizenry who more than qualify for one, or both, reasons.
One of the reasons that Clinton's New Year's Resolution was to not engage with Trump and to let him live in his own world, as she stated, is simply because he's right. She has no defense for the email situation, what happened in Benghazi, her Benghazi lies, what her and Obama have let happen in the Middle East (admittedly started by Bush, but then completely mishandled by Clinton), etc. She is an incompetent liar and she has no good answers, so it is wise for her to pretend she's above it all. If they both win their party's nomination, she won't be able slime away like she's done up until now. She'll have to answer for all these things and, as you can see, she has no answers that she wants anyone to hear.

Some lack even what it takes to drive properly (how many illegals have proper drivers license, remember issuing false license at the BMV a few years back)There is a huge problem with the Mexicans including language barrier and following OUR laws. I agree with you that vehicles should be taken away from drivers if they don't have insurance; better yet, the DMV should stop issuing licenses, plates and plate renewal stickers unless the recipient can show proof of insurance - no exceptions. While on this topic, I found out earlier today that my wife called Ron Young's office recently to ask why the DMV doesn't ask for proof of insurance; she went to the DMV in Perry in mid-November, and wasn't asked for any proof. Young's office rep insisted that they do, and argued the point even after my wife also pointed out that the DMV hasn't asked her for insurance proof in several years. The rep said that the issue would be looked into - yeah, right!

I see your birther issue with Cruz finally has made the media. I must admit that now it seems like a double standard for Democrats and Republicans. So if I get my license plates and show my insurance card that's a good thing. But what about those who do the same but go straight home and cancel the policy. Showing proof of insurance at the time may be good but is also ineffective. Like gun laws, it keeps the honest people honest. Where has 11:28 been? Just now being asked Spanish or English? That's been going on for years. Check out home improvement store on RT 20 all signs in both language. I loathe going there because of that - sticking to small town Painesville store. Look in your cupboard - read your food packages many in both. The problem in America right now is that we have lived in freedom for too long and the general populace has been insulated from what goes on in the rest of the world.
Sure we see it online, we read about it, we see it on TV but we do not "LIVE" with it.

Last I knew, the Ohio Dept. of Ins. was still sending out random checks to drivers for proof of insurance. Last I knew, even if you didn't get the letter for some reason, so you didn't provide the proof, they cancelled your license without even having to notify you! Has that changed? I got one such letter, but that was a couple of years ago now. That's another problem with having illegals in this country; they drive without licenses and insurance. Why should they care? They're here illegally, do you really think they care about licenses and insurance? And if they get in trouble, they just go home. So God help you if you're the one they hit.

For those of us (not you -- you have been fighting the people that fight all these years) that have been fighting the illegal problem in this country for 15-20 years, this is what we were fighting for. We were fighting so that it would never get this far. Also, 4:49, I think the fact that English was never made the official language of our country has something to do with a long-ago agreement with Puerto Rico. Does anyone know if this is correct? At any rate, it is time for the American people to stand up and start making demands and not stop until our country is our country again. It's kind of late now, but we can still salvage what is left and reverse quite a bit of what has happened. We could also make English our official language if we cared enough to fight for it.

Term 10:16: This is 5:45. Let's see, right now the American government is building the fences themselves, and I watched illegals cross one fence that is woven horizontally. Secondly, your same, tired question is how will we pay to remove all these illegals. E-Verify. Get E-Verify in all the work places, and if they can't work, they will go home. After that, the task of finding and deporting the rest should be safer and easier. One of the funniest things that I have seen during these election months was Donald Trump's reaction to Hillary Clinton's play-acting.I don't remember quite which insult it was, but Trump was saying something about Clinton. Clinton, in defense, and trying to use it politically, started acting like a wounded, poor-wittle-woman. As a fellow woman, I was totally enraged by her attempted manipulative behavior. All of a sudden her voice would get real soft; she would get this poor-wittle-me look on her face as she looked up from under her eyes; she looked like she was ready to start weeping and would talk about how she just doesn't know why someone would... Well, Trump called her out on it; said she was playing the "woman-card" and in essence said to knock it off, AND SHE DID. He didn't let her get away with her manipulation, and I laughed and loved it. Funny, funny stuff. I'm still laughing, and she hasn't played that card again.

Yes our borders must be made more secure but 40% of the illegals in this country fly into JFK or another international airport and overstay their Visa. If you think most of us want another 8 years of a Bush Presidency, or some apprentice wanting a job with an ego you might be wrong. As much B.S. Trump spreads about a wall, and Sanders about free college please someone ask how! We as a people must start thinking for ourselves not just sound bites. Vote for whoever you want I will but at least I will be asking how.
