" I DON'T CARE ANYMORE" phil collins

I'll do alright by myself, Cos I know

Time for a confession. I don't care anymore. Don't care about Town Hall Meetings, The P.O.C. candidate debates whatever will be will be, the futures not ours to see!

People asked me if there will be a candidate debate this election?  Why bother one candidate won overwhelmingly in the last election and didn't show up for anything. AND still having a hard time showing up. One candidate's actions in the last election was just plain embarrassing, so no city wide debate. Maybe a Ward I debate at Elm St. School before the election. Because both candidates seem to want to make their views known.

Jenkins vs. Werner? Well Katie what have you done for us? Offhand my only complaint is you have voted for some ridiculous zoning changes for whatever reasons only you can explain? And Hal sorry you seem to be a one trick pony. Quite reading to us and pontificating like a college professor and talk to us as a bus driver.

Mike DeLeone vs. Rev. Marbel  well it's nice to see Mike in this neck of the woods finally. Mike be careful on what you claim are your accomplishments. A sign really? The Rev gets a sign because he and his wife attended my father's funeral. Best reason so far.  You know Mike the Rev just seems more authentic.... And he doesn't think I'm getting old and forgetful? .

Paul Hach vs. Nobody  That said to you souls in Heisley Park I guess your on your own.

P.O.C. guess it didn't take off like many of us thought it would. The reality is that most people just want to bitch about what's going on and see no need to hold anybody responsible.

Town Hall's as the opportunity there the responsibility. Very few responsible I guess?

Want a real taste of Painesville? attend a COUNCIL MEETING!

Oh, I still plan to attend council meeting. The best kept Painesville secret? The best comedy show on a Monday night. These Council Meeting should be a reality show. Just watching faces and body movements is priceless. Law Director Gurley at times looking skyward and wondering where is he/she planning to take this conversation? Paul Hach slow to learn how a meeting's order progresses. Nothing but nothing tops Bill Horvath telling people to shut off their cell phones and vibrators meeting after meeting!

Will still be blogging But thinking about changing the title from What's Happening Painesville to the End of Days Painesville.

Speaking of Taste Of Painesville as a reason to go Downtown. Check out the fake brick sidewalk's on the north side of Main St. and St. Clair St. Best guess it won't be long before they all look like this?

Also, I wonder who the Streetscape Horticulture expert was? Seems most plants aren't fairing to well. Maybe we should have brought the Palm trees back from a few decade's ago! Remember them?

You win! I don't care because the majority of Painesville doesn't care. Cos I Know! Ah, tomorrow  I just might care again.

Here's a wild prediction  Megyn Kelly to leave FOXNEWS for CNN didn't appreciate Roger Ailes throwing her under the GOP bus!

Looking at streetscape all the metal grates are rusty? Shouldn't they have been painted black?

Your thoughts on the various Council selections are pretty much right on.
Could I do better?
Maybe and maybe not but it is really hard to swim upstream and not get anything accomplished except for getting tired.
Maybe most cities are like this?
BTW, I have to admit that I do get a laugh out of the complaining from HP residents BUT they don't choose to run for office to make their points.

Who's running in Ward I, please.

Rustoleum is getting expensive.

So what's the big hate thing about the fake brick? It certainly must be cheaper than real brick, right? But not as cheap at two white lines painted on the pavement, right?

Some one please get me up to date. What happened to the big sign on the old Harvey site saying something about Lake Erie College Quadrangle or what ever? Did something fall through?

Was there also a big sign on the hospital property, or am I suffering from quilt by association?

3:20 Ward I Christine Shoop and Renee Aston.

4:04 I guess with all the problems around here making fake brick sidewalks just seem over the top.
I think LEC ran out of money?

I guess a person might believe if your spending 1.4 million the grates should have been painted? Maybe they will tell us.

Although she has been a mostly nondescript member of council, with a propensity to go along to get along rather than shake up the status quo, and an irritating habit of not responding in a timely manner (if at all) to her constituents, I've decided to vote for Katie Jenkins in November. It's not because of her; rather, it's because of her opponent, the only person I know of whose doppelganger is Sam Eagle from The Muppet Show. He was an embarrassment the last time he represented our ward, and from what I've heard (especially from a couple of his neighbors, whom I've known for years), he's not changed a bit. That, and Hal being the only person outside of his household who loves to hear himself talk at length, compels me to give my vote to Katie. It's sad that this has to be the criteria for whom to vote, but until we get better candidates, it is what it is.

I heard we have been sold out again to the County. When all of us supported the old Hospital site plan it was for retail and residential, guess what they are selling a big chunk of it for..... the new county Health dept. building, and.... it will be LARGE enough to consolidate a lot of the county functions into. Good luck Painesville ever getting your downtown back, our largest enemy has become the Lake County Commissioners.

GRATES, Reminds me of building big buildings these days. The steel work comes painted with a thin coat of what, red led, and all that metal is rusty by the time its riveted together. Must not be a factor.

And our bridgework in the area drips rust from under the concrete. Sad but true. Sounds like a good job for our jail population. Buckets of Rustoleum and wire brushes. Years ago it was common to see jail inmates mowing & doing useful work.

9:20 So I guess it comes down to If you can't stand all the illegals you vote for Hal? And if you can't stand Hal you vote for Katie? Great thing coming to Painesville's future.
2:45 I hope you wrong. For what the county will pay to purchase the property [which they once owned] as well as construction costs they could save so much money just buying the New Market Mall? And locating the Health Department there?
5:24 I believe in the beginning the grates and there are many were to be painted, it sure would have enhanced the area. Put on a new suit but don't polish your shoes.

Let's just say the person who picked the plants, is now in charge of livestock somewhere else.

2;21 the plant selection was done by an hired landscape architect not an employee of the city who has left for greener pastures I understand he is smiling all the time now. enjoy your misery.

O bye the way since the CM fired the contractor the plants are not guaranteed

Yep, you lost a good guy to the Metroparks and guess again who is to blame. Council, you just don't get it do you? Why is the city manager in Chicago anyway? For HOW MANY DAYS? He should be meeting with a company to learn how to clean up the old COE site. Which is the same company that took care of the old hospital site. How long ago was that? I realize the EPA makes changes but was it really necessary for a nearly week long business meeting out of town to do this? Not only him but Ms. White also? Two people in a city that's so broke. Council, what were you thinking?

At September 4, 2015 at 11:54 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

6:35 Who fired whom? According to Mr. Carson, he told council and council bought it, he did not fire the company that held the grant. They quit. So the work had to be done by the PC employees. By doing this, employees got OT, they were pulled from doing their every-day jobs thus putting Mr. Homyak in the hot seat with the city manager. By firing these people the city stands to never get another grant from them and who knows what needs to be paid back. By this time the cities reserves will be spent time and Mr. Carson will be long gone collecting his retirement laughing all the way to Warren/Youngstown or Chicago.

Anonymous did you mean the B.O.E. building not the C.O.E. yeah it looks a little rough.

6:31 You have no idea how many are smiling now that he's gone . Metropark will learn, wait and see.

I do have an idea, one person is smiling and his nickname is "Putin". Lee was one of the most respected employees of the City. He will be missed and yes, I am an employee of the City of Painesville.

Putin smiling because he doesn't have to give that person a poor review in October. He ain't going to be missed by the people on the hill. I am an employee of the City of Painesville.

I've lived in Painesville almost all of my 34 years.

After many years in Bob Fountain's ward, I moved over to Horvath's side of town and then eventually got 'blessed' with Hal Werner. Neither of them did a damn thing for me. Both were virtually useless when I had a complaint or question about city services or operations. Hell, Andy Flock actually came and visited my residence once when Horvath wouldn't even lift up the telephone to call me back.

Now I've got Katie Jenkins. She has not once left me hanging on anything. Whether it was streets, sewers, trash - she's always been prompt and professional in her response.

I may not like everything she's ever voted for or against, but she's far and away better than what I've had. That in and of itself merits another four years, especially since I already had four of her challenger.

I would agree with 2:50.
Katie returns calls and emails and she actually does seek out info when I ask questions.
Mom always said to say something nice or nothing at all so I guess concerning Hal, I will keep quiet.

I am also an employee of Painesville. The City Manager and the Rec. Director had a good working relationship. It wasn't warm and fuzzy but they agreed on most topics. It was Lee's decision to leave. One subject they had a difference of opinion, was the Senior Center. The CM could care less if the Seniors moved their Center to the township or joined Fairport. Lee thought the City should work with the Seniors in an effort to keep the Center in the City. No one has any idea what Council thinks. Perhaps, this issue will come up during the Council elections.

Lee Homyak got lucky, he was near to succumb to the Chief Hager fate. He got out while he could, landed a great job and he will do well. It's just a shame our council doesn't have it in them to take care of the root of the real problem, the man at the top of the golden dome. Check the morale, check the finances, check the budget, WAKE UP before its too late.

12:22 Yes Lee was a lucky guy. That said it would take a 'Marathon Move' to change any of this.
