"I'LL THINK OF A REASON LATER" lee ann womack

It ain't Christian to judge a stranger

Let's see in today's News-Herald 08/25/15  there was a story about a business that although the City of Mentor approved this business the property owner decided to not issue a lease.

Headline; Mentor Distillery project back to square one.

Kenneth Howard general manager of Traditional and Innovative Spirits LLC
A company that he planned to produce Whiskies, Vodka, Wine, Vinegar, Beer and Candy.??
To be sold at retail outlets, on-line or by appointment.

Now a business near where he would operate objected after it was reported in the news. So the property owner changed his mind.

This business would be all electric so as to cut down on flammability which the Mentor Fire Department had approved.

Now my question is should our esteem  Community Development Department step in and have a conversation with Mr. Howard about locating his business in Painesville?

Or do we have so many businesses clamoring to locate here in the Ville'. Is our community two uppity to except income from property taxes or income taxes for a venture such as this?

Seems presently Mexican Restaurant's seem to be the only thing moving into town.

I may be the Terminator but Paul Hach must be the Demolishinator  got another building on State Street, heard it will be replaced by....... you guessed it another Mexican Restaurant.

Seems as if Painesville can provide great frosting for a cake, we just have forgotten how to make cake?

Hell, Hershey Pa. built a town on chocolate maybe we can build one on taco's?

I expect a lot of blow-back on this suggestion, I'll think of a reason later why I even brought it up?

Andy Flock Ward I Town Hall meeting Thursday August 27, 2015 7:00PM Elm St. Elementary School. Open to all residents with any and all concerns of the city.

If as Donald Trump can tell us that the 14th Amendment can be changed by an act of Congress, then couldn't the same be said of the 2nd Amendment? Or for that matter any Amendment? What say you Constitution scholars? Do we really want to go down that rabbit hole?

Where on State St?

The idea of attracting the distillery is interesting.
I wonder how many people under the Golden Dome would think to try it?

Did you happen to attend the most recent school board meeting? The raises were in the minutes and couldn't help notice some hefty raises for management? Treasurer and super got 4%. The employees got 2% but since when does this happen? Management getting and taking more than the help in a negotiated contract? I think we should expect very high test scores and 100% graduation success. Don't you?

5:09 Well now I'll step in it again. Where is the teachers union? Do any of these teachers have a backbone?
Management ALWAYS takes care of themselves first. These teachers are either the biggest Woozies or they are very very content?

As I missed this meeting was there any discussion on why one group got 4% and the other 2%? What if any was the board thoughts?

6:56 That's the rumor.

5:10 You are correct I can't spell Wuu'sie. But then the teachers don't seem to know how to negotiate a contract?

I will have to ask the board members what in the world is the justification of a 4% raise for the administration?
Yes they no longer pay to staff the Juvenile Detention Center or have stripped down the gifted program but I see no reason for a 4% raise. [If that figure is correct] I guess I will have to ask?

Just went past the site at N State and Chester.
I had no idea that the building would be gone!
I was expecting to see something (Mexican restaurant?) located within the existing building.
Boy, was I wrong!

TERM, I'm with you on the missing gifted program.

Woo' See

Maybe the gifted program went with away because of the over top-heavy administration. Why are 2 pr people needed now, aside that one does not speak Mexican and the new one does? Check out the salary for these people and are they both needed. Someone really needs to make English an official language so we can stop spending money needed for other programs and spend less on those that don't even want to learn English. The schools are flooded with jobs for bilingual only.

8:40 The program leaves but the administrators stay. Will be interesting when someone challenges the bilingual job situation. Maybe a Chinese family will challenge the merits? Can we say special treatment?

Majority Rules. And no one will challenge because its management right. And management in the city and school administration are known supporters of immigrants and all the problems the bring. Tell me why a kid can not speak English by the time they have been in school X amount of years. No reason except they don't want to and money comes pouring in for ELL programs so lets keep it going. This town and our country needs to get this illegal problem solved.

To answer your question, there was a minor discussion on raises. Although scores are unchanged, and the only changes we are making is at the board office to allow Johnny (John Shepard) to cover his rear end. He is a non factor in our educational process. He enjoys the fan fare and public gatherings, but his work ethic is to be desired. What did we expect when we hired a candidate who was paid to stay home at his last post. Must have been a really good reason for it. Talk had it that he and Costell have a great friendship and anything he does is rubber stamped by Costell, ie. Juvenile Hall decision. It also seems that there is a complete lack of respect for Kathleen Powers Dolney from other board members. She seems to be the only person to ask questions, which is a big no no. Is it because she actually has an idea of what happens in our schools and the impact these decisions have to our educational process or the fact that she is a woman invading the Good Ole Boys territory? It would be great to see a topic of discussion about the education of all students and not just our Spanish population. While we are taking most of our resources to accommodate them, we are totally neglecting the education of the whites, blacks, and others. I don't see change in the near future for our schools. At least not until we concentrate more on educating all of our kids and not just a select group.

3:47 Comments like yours make the blog. all worth it. Someone who pays attention.
Seems I agree with you 100% Steve Costell has been somewhat of a disappointment. I remember his ideals when he wanted on BOE and now? I don't get it.
Kathy Dolney is probably the only reason I haven't given up on this system yet. It's Hell having someone sitting on the BOE that knows where the bodies are buried.
I think the board believes this bi-lingual approach works?
Look I remember my father explaining to me how this bi-lingual worked in his day.
The Italian neighborhood had Mrs. Dolce yes Joe, Frank and Kathy's Grandmother. The school went to her and she went to the family as an interpreter. Amazing how quickly these families came to understanding English?

What choices were there for super?
Present one - se habla espanol e favors the fight to keep the illegals? (gravy train money)
#2 Isn't he in jail? Extortion I thought?
#3 Poor in present position, impossible can't communicate and not likable. How do ya think he'd do the job? And being third choice, I'd have been long gone.

11:50 Well most will tell you I was a big Mr.McWreath supporter. I guess I don't agree at all with you if he's your #3?
The change a Harvey is quite an accomplishment, if I say so. Result driven.
Look we should have all have got behind Mr. Shepard after he was chosen not because of him but for the future of our school. Am I disappointed? Yes Are we on a sinking ship?

What the chance McWreath could still step in?

Talk about smoke and mirrors? You demand transparency with the city, the schools should have the same expectations. If you only knew the half of what goes on, you wouldn't be singing such high praises.
