Sometimes you have to go through Hell to get to Heaven
Presently there is a news article circulating on the web with the concern's of our city manager Anthony Carson.
I'm positive it's no surprise because I am sure every council person has received the same email I have.

Dozens apply to be Marathon, FL. next city manager.
By William Axford
waxford@keynoter.com June 19,2015
The Marathon City Council is expected to move forward with the search for a new city manager July 14, with each councilman bringing his top five picks from applicant pool of 31 so far.
The deadline to apply is June 30.
The search to fill the top spot at City Hall came in mid-April, when City Manager Mike Puto said Dec. 31 will be his last day on the job, or sooner if a successor is chosen before then.
31 applicant's
Anthony Carson city manager of Painesville, Ohio. Carson lives in Painesville and holds a master's in public administration from Valdosta State University.
Shocking just plain Shocking I say!
Well not really anyone who witnessed Tuesday's council meeting must believe this man is dealing with imbeciles !
Where to start? First off ages ago Abby DelaMotte suggested council people be restricted to speaking only three minutes on an issue. At the time I thought it wasn't wise. Not so sure now. As we went on about ordinances tabled from May it was like a Chinese water torture. Please Mrs. DiNallo speak clearly and loudly into the microphone so at least some of us know what your trying to communicate to us. Mr. DeLeone you have had this information for how long? Mr. Fodor stay retired you will never make it as a standup comic. Paul Hach please learn how a council meeting is to be conducted. Tom Fitzgerald we will try not to wake you up, Katie Jenkins not everyone viewed this as humorous?
If Mr. Carson wasn't looking for a job, I might think something is wrong with him. Look he is to "manage" with orders given by council??? When will they start doing that?
Some of you city employee's and directors might hope to bring back the good old days when a city manager put you first instead of the residents.
I have been to Marathon, FL. in the keys about twenty years ago, unless there's a Hurricane you could'nt find a nicer community.
Well he tried and someday I will share some of the B.S. this man had to put up with naming names included!
One thing Painesville residents and leadership must remember is that Painesville needs Tony Carson more then Tony Carson needs Painesville.
Council if you feel I judged you harshly, take the time and view the tape.
Are there anymore A-Holes left in Arkansas besides Mike Huckabee and Bret Bielema ?

I don't miss many meetings but I missed this one.
Darn!! Sounds like a fun time was had by all.
BTW, Mr Hach has been the Council President for several years now and you are correct, he can not lead a meeting effectively.
At first I thought it was because he was new to the task and a little nervous. Those days should be over.
6:37 The spectacle was quite sad. This has been festering since May? Believe me no fun time.
That Carson would rather want to deal with hurricanes and rising sea levels from melting arctic ice, than with our "esteemed" council and Painesville's other problems says a lot, none of it good for us. As for the clown car show disguised as a council meeting, nobody should be surprised, since we keep electing clowns - not just the current bunch, but also in years past. The ultimate blame for this doesn't rest on those elected, but on the electors, in large part because they vote for candidates for weak reasons, i.e., name recognition, race, gender, age, "he/she is my neighbor", "he/she did something nice for me once". How many of us actually do homework on the candidates once we learn who they are? This could be nothing more than asking around town for opinions (including on this blog), or even asking questions of the candidates themselves (real questions, and not just letting them tell you what you want to hear - the oldest trick taught in Politics 101).
Also, to go back to something Term raised a few weeks ago, is there anything that can be done to make a council seat more appealing/less demanding, in order to attract better candidates? I'm sure each of us know someone, or of someone, who'd be much better council members than our current line-up, but convincing them to give it a shot is a lost cause at present. Any ideas out there on how to make a council seat more appealing to seek by those who have potential to do a superior job?
Hey Term...maybe it's not that big of a deal. If Mr. Carson has an opportunity to live in the Florida Keys AND get paid for it, why wouldn't he try? A simple matter of improving one's personal circumstances when possible. I'd hate to see him go - I appreciate the low-key approach that lacks the arrogance of the previous administration. And you are absolutely correct in that we need him more than he needs us.
Sorry Tony keep wasting P'villes money on crosswalks (your biggest accomplishment).
Contract for new Marathon city manager to be voted on Tuesday
By WILLIAM AXFORD
waxford@keynoter.comSeptember 5, 2015
The city of Marathon may be closer to bringing U.S. Coast Guard Command Master Chief Charles Lindsey in as city manager after Tuesday's 5:30 p.m. City Council meeting scheduled for the Marathon Government Center.
City Attorney David Migut said he expects to present councilmen with Lindsey's proposed contract at the meeting. Lindsey was chosen for the top position at city hall after a public interview with councilmen Aug. 25.
Lindsey is stationed in Washington with the Coast Guard and oversaw operations at the Marathon station from 2010 to 2013. Though never having held the position of city manager, councilmen selected Lindsey due to his leadership experience in the Coast Guard and desire to return to Marathon.
City Manager Mike Puto, who planned to step down no later than the end of the year, said Lindsey could start by Thanksgiving.
OK TERM, your on the spot so make yourself crystal clear, please. Whom do you think will want the CM spot? Anyone we know?
7:30 I hope Mr. Carson stays. Off hand a person in Galion speculated that Rita McMahons cousin was interested in the position the last time?
Nothing can make the city manager's job more appealing until council starts doing what a city council/manager position requires.
I believe they like being told then telling what needs to be done. Bring back the good old days when council was lead around like sheep.
Watching the council meeting on the web site it sounded like during the visitors time Councilman Fodor or DeLeone mentioned yeah, let's get this over? With laughter what gives?
9:39 Yeah, just councilman Fodor doing his best Don Rickles
When Council-President Hach called on me I mentioned I was batting lead off? Mr. Fordor chimed in let's get this over with. I'm glad to be able provide some entertainment to these meeting.
No harm no foul.
Old news people. From the summer. He wont be missed there are many folks unhappy with him and his antics both within and outside the city limits. I guess people are too polite to come forward to council - ya know the old if you don't have something nice, don't say it. Unfortunately he didn't get the job and will be even more miserable now.
The pay of the council needs to be raised for starters.
I guess although Fodor's remark might not bother you to much it is an example of a poorly run, organized council.
Mr. high and mighty should be taken down a notch or two.
Well Well Well, Council needs to break Mr Carsons contract but wont and Mr Carson had plans up his sleeve to bail? He was trying to beat you to the punch. Cut the cord council. Let Lewis carry the ball and try again before it's too late. Interesting reading the bio's. A masters degree and didn't make the cut over the BA degrees? HuH
Say what Adam and the rest of you want to. When Hal was on council he along with Andy Flock were the only two that voted against a failed power plant that cost Painesville 2.1 million dollars. Now how much has Katie saved us? She even refuses to investigate the deal? Hal warned us about illegals living in Painesville? Now a lady is dead. Sorry Katie the blood of that lady is on your hands. You told me they were just good people wanting a better life?
Maybe if we had listened to Hal we would be 2 million dollars richer and one life saved? Maybe he's just a lucky guesser?
4:38, you may disagree with what I say, but at least I have the balls to leave a name rather than hide behind a keyboard.
What did all of Hal's bitching and moaning about illegals and Jackie's bar do to improve Painesville during his four years? Not a damn thing.
5:40 Ball's for being an Adam? Well what exactly has your Katie done in her four years? Who has she promised so not even send a letter of inquiry about a failed electric contract? That plus I guess the pit bulls in town are happy with here vote on not muzzling them. Katie's a cheerleader not a leader. Sorry she has blood on her hands and so does her buddy Lori! It's a federal matter doesn't cut it for me. She in her own way instigated this unfortunate death!
EVE.... and I believe I have more balls then you do ADAM. And with Hal we would have had two million dollars more in our pockets. Does Katie even care?
Maybe?
I haven't seen any posts from Ms Jenkins or other council persons here regarding Mr Carson. Are you all under his gag order too?
12:43 I guess you could just call and ask them?
they want him gone - he wants to be gone but he has managed to manipulate a much larger payout for himself. another 80K over original. three year stint for a bit over 400k not bad. Over-time tanked in September, beautiful cross walks, and a council that has buried their heads in the sand. He a great (not) manager
3:06 And you know this how? On the other hand it appears to be a pretty good negotiator according to you.
Yeah, we got one great city council I will agree with you there. Wonder what a change will bring?
Maybe more Happy Birthday and/or anniversary to a spouse?
Can anyone tell me when Anthony Carson's contract is up? Has Council ever reviewed his performance?
Don't know for sure but I believe it's up in July?
Interesting Executive Meeting this Monday.
EXECUTIVE SESSION IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING IN ACCORDANCE WITH ARTICLE 2 SECTION 6 ITEM 1: TO CONSIDER THE APPOINTMENT, EMPLOYEMENT, DISMISSAL, DISCIPLINE, PROMOTION, DEMOTION OR COMPENSATION OF AN EMPLOYEE OR OFFICIAL OF THE CITY
Well that just about covers everybody?
306 is correct. Mr Carson has single-handed negotiated the employee contracts for city employees, leaving people out of the loop and in the dark. In doing this, he added his name to include everything they got to go to him also. Example: Because he wanted an additional holiday, the day before Christmas. He decided the entire city hall should have one and got it. Did he get a raise along with everyone else too? Sadly, council approved it. Since when is Christmas Eve a holiday? Since when isn't Christmas a religious event? Should that even be a paid holiday? Easter is not correct? But I digress. He sweetened his honey pot, lined his pockets all in the name of the employees, on the backs of the residents and council allowed all his foolishness. How does anyone know this? Open your eyes and start asking questions. You've turned a blind eye because you didn't like the past manager, wait till the dust settles and you see what this one has done.
6:56 So is it council's fault or his? No extra Holiday pay just used a personnel day. Christmas is a national holiday, and the last place I worked gave Christmas Eve and New Years Eve both paid Holidays. Honestly what work do you see accomplished on Christmas Eve. No the past manager did harm to this city it might take 25 years to recover from. Nothing could be worse, sorry.
I guess if council was so disappointed in him they would tell us, like councilman Flock did about the past city manager? AND WHY!
Dozens apply to be Marathon's next city manager
waxford@keynoter.comJune 19, 2015
Here's who has applied so far:
• Anthony Carson, city manager of Painesville, Ohio. Carson lives in Painesville and holds a master's in public administration from Valdosta State University.
Mr. Carson was 1/50 who APPLIED for this job. Someone should look up the definition of 'apply/applied for the job'. It's is a verb & verbs are action meaning he took the action to apply.
Is there any desert land in Marathon for us to buy?
Ooops-E Looks like someone made a fib. Ya know that saying - A liar has to have a good memory. Along with what a tangled web we weave, that covers the lies doesn't it?
Painesville needs Carson? Like someone needs a toothache and a black eye!?
12:29 Unlike you when I lost faith in the former city manager I signed my name. Your comment is meaningless coming in the anonymous form it is presented!
If you want transparency maybe you should do what the news herald changed to. In order to post one must sign in by name and email. Otherwise many will still be anonymous, I'm sure every anonymous post helps boost your numbers. Change it to identify and you can forget your blog. Don't think anyone would have as much to say. Sides, Term? What is a term? That doesn't identify you from anyone else here. Jim, Adam, who? Sandy Miller is the only person using both names, but who is sandy miller? So even if I signed my name you still wouldn't know who I am. Does it really make a difference?
Point well made. To be truthful with you comments add nothing to numbers only more work for myself. Term is a nickname I picked up years ago almost everyone knows I am Angelo Cimaglio and have lived here forever.
I like the anonymous part only not after say Sandy Miller comments and then a bunch of anonymous attack her.
Or a public figure and Anonymous hide behind the word.
Well to be truthful with you I know who Sandy, Jim, and Adam are.
Bully for you. I don't maybe some people do and some don't know them either. Painesville has how many people? So I can sign my first name and people will know me? Nope.
