Well as much as I'd like to post anonymously, I'm not going to hide. I feel pretty strongly about standing behind my words. It is so easy to hide behind anonymous. How can I stand at the Square with people who are afraid to sign their name to a post. Bravo, way to stand united! nose in the air....that's funny!
4:40, hard to believe I make you sick if you don't know who I am or how I live. I will say our family paid a very heavy price from my fathers service in World War II. And he taught me above all peace is the only way. If some needs a coat, give it to him.... That is what the war taught him. The scars he brought home, his family lived with, he was a wonderful man. I was headed out to a protest on public square back in the 70's and he told me what a waste of time and why did I want to stand in a pool of anger and toxic waste. I could protest all I wanted and it wasn't going to change a thing. I went and he was absolutely right. I came home and learned to type and lick a stamp. We had great family dinner table discussions over politics and we sure didn't agree on much but he was a proud, hard working guy who went to work everyday, not to keep food on the table but to keep the voices in his head quiet from the demons of time served in the China Sea. He never talked about it. So really don't lecture me on the price of freedom.
I will not stand in local town square and listen to the likes of Hal Werner or Ralph King spew bigotry and hate. There is absolutely nothing we can do at the local level, this is a problem at the federal level. Case in point, when Razo was stopped on July 7th and they cut him loose? Who said never mind, let him go? I believe it was the Feds. They didn't want to come pick him up.
Don't for one minute think I haven't been touched by the situation here in Painesville. In 1995 my 5 year old daughter was turned away from her neighborhood school, State Street because it was filled. I inquired how this was possible and the principal said don't worry we loose half of our student population by Thanksgiving and we can take her then. So the first day of school she puts on her new school dress and put the necklace on her Grandma gave her and she jumped on school bus to go to Cedarbrook. I waited for her at the bus stop at the end of the day. She got off the bus in tears, dirty and her necklace was thrown out the window. I asked what happened and in 1995 my daughter said Mom, I don't speak Spanish and they threw my necklace out the window on the bus. The next few weeks I drove her to Cedarbrook and became a room mother. At Christmas she enrolled at State Street and yes, half the population was gone. Where were you guys at the school board meetings then?
Go after the employers, go after the commissioners, go after your congress who have done nothing. I would rather see them legalized and have their lower wages taxed, just like the rest of us. We paid for their kids education and those kids walked at the Kent State commencement. And the graduate, son or daughter of the illegal immigrant had pretty much gotten a free ride, my kid is strapped with enough school debt to choke a horse. Please tax the Hell out of all the illegals and the legals, let them take their education paid for by us and work in the United States. I want to see them here. Maybe they are a little hungrier.
As someone who works for herself I pay all my taxes, I don't get a vacation and don't get workmens
comp or any benefits. I don't hire anyone either.
I chose not to be on the square as I was filling an order for 300 bowls for Peace Corp project. That is a project worthy of my time and it helps me pay my bills. In my mind that is time well spent.
I read the comments on the blog and no wonder there were Hispanics on the sidelines laughing. Over a few comments some are so angry it has the citizens fighting each other.

Funny. As I was reading the main post, I'm wondering who is this from? One person? Many people? I thought it all sounded like dribble, so couldn't figure it out. Then at the end, I see...Sandy Miller. Of course, because I never agree with anything she says, and I don't agree with any of this, either. That's right, Sandy, you sure do have plenty of reasons why you didn't attend the rally. One of them is because your father sacrificed in World War II. All the more reason, I would think, that you would want to protect the country he fought for, but, hey, that's just me. And you want them all to stay here, so they can finish taking over our country?! Do you have any idea of the numbers we are talking about? And you also demand to know where were the people who were at the rally in 1995, when your daughter was having trouble in school because of the illegals, which is apparently another excuse why you weren't at the rally?? Ridiculous. Well, I'll say this, they were there on Saturday, and you were not, and if that's okay with you, then I can see why you would have to come up with all these excuses. If people gather in the square to try to save this country and you purposefully do not attend, and you purposefully put down the people who did, then be as proud of yourself as you want, but I still think it's shameful, and I still do not agree with anything you say. (And if you don't think your nose is in the air, then read your post again.)
Sandy, why didn't you just say a long time ago that you want all the illegals legalized, instead of beating around the bush and fighting the people who are fighting for your country? Fine, go stand with the laughing Hispanics if that's what makes you happy. At least now people know where you stand. You stand with the illegals, yet you demand to know where people were in 1995, and why weren't they fighting with you then? Answer: Many of us have been fighting this for a lot longer than back in 1995, but the difference is we are still fighting, not staying away from a rally because Hal Werner is there (another lame excuse). You have the right to do, or not to do, anything you want, but when you continually come out against the people who are fighting, yet say you fight, too, it is confusing. Well, at least now everyone knows where you stand, and that is with the illegals, and that explains a lot. It's good for people to know where you are coming from.
This is 4:40, whom you write about in your main post, Sandy. You're making things up. Go read my post again. I never said you make me sick. I never said I know you. I was talking about your words. And I said I was shocked at some of the comments, including yours. And I still am, now more than ever.

We all agree we have the right to do whatever....... Work, attend functions, attend parties, stay home home. We agree...... Wonderful!

The problem with illegals is that there is never an end to them. Reagan legalized a few million, saying that would be the end, but that just brought many, many millions more. Legalize these, and we will have so many millions here, it will be a travesty; they're already pouring in so fast, nobody can keep up with them, thanks to Obama, and he's dropping them off by the thousands all over the United States of America. The only way to stop them is to get rid of them. So your logic is so flawed, it's frightening.
P.S. Nobody I know likes Hal Werner, but nobody I know would use him as an excuse not to stand up for a cause they believe in. But you don't believe in the cause, so that's a mute point, isn't it? According to you, the guy who just killed one of our legal citizens, shot another, and tried to rape a child, would have been legalized. Homeland Security recently had to let go many, many illegal criminals that they had locked up because Obama said to. But keep cheering for Obama, as he is on your side.
I think everyone agrees that Sandy has the right to her opinion, and has said so, but if she wants them legalized, the least she could do is to stop putting down the people who don't. At least she finally admitted it. I also don't think anyone has been rude to Sandy. Certainly not as rude as Sandy has been to everyone who is fighting. As it has been said, of course Sandy has every right to not go to any rallies and/or to side with the illegals. I don't think it adds much to her argument, however, to talk about her father's sacrifice during World War II, when she won't even show up at her town's square for an hour or two. I often wonder what our founding fathers and all the World War I and II fighters would think of Americans now just sitting and watching the country being taken over without a shot fired by the invaders. I don't think they'd believe it, and I surely knows they wouldn't have stood around and let it happen. They would have thought it was their duty as an American citizen to stand up and fight for their country and for their children's country. I mean, really, she can use any argument she wants to, but I personally wouldn't have chosen that one.
FYI The illegals in Europe will be held on ships.I think the same should be done here. Our once new, beautiful, state of the art jail is now too small(now needs replaced). Retain them on a barge in Fairport then return them back to where they came from. I am confused why other countries can do something like this but we can not? As someone mentioned, try sneaking into Mexico and living off of them - cant be done. No response I'm anonymous.

So Term 2:37 starts abusing people. Poster 2:52 deflects the abuse and says they aren't going to deal with it. Term 3:15 becomes even more abusive. Poster 3:25 says again they aren't going to answer or deal with the abuse. Term 3:57 now accuses everyone else of being abusive to him and Sandy!!!...and then he proceeds to abuse the posters some more.
Now he's down to abusing the Rally Team, in general, which is where he usually ends up. And you can tell him the solutions a thousand times, and he (and Sandy) still act like no solutions have been mentioned by anyone against the illegals, and continues on in his abuse of anyone against the illegals, and especially the local group. Well, Sandy's solution is to legalize them, so I wouldn't be getting my feathers all up about that.
So let's say this again. We need to utilize the guest-worker program that we have, and use it FOR THE FIELDS ONLY, or create a better one. (Sandy can't grasp that concept, so I'll only tell her once, then let it go. She's acting like there never was a thing such as a guest-worker program in America, even though we've had them all throughout our history when they were needed.)
Put the E-Verify program in place in all places of employment. If they can't work, they will go home. They found their way in, and to act like they can't find their way out is ridiculous. At this point, it will also be harder for employers to skirt the rules, and if they do, it will be easier to catch them, and any illegals who are still working here.
Fix the reading of the 14th amendment to stop the anchor baby problem, which is one of the biggest draws to this country, and stop the handouts to illegals.
Our country will start emptying out, and it will deter any more from coming.
So now it has all been said again, Term. And Sandy. Do you think you can grasp those concepts? Or would you just like to continue on with the abuse?

Nobody said Sandy should be responsible for the entire illegal problem, but she should probably quit lying about her intentions of wanting them legalized. I also think she should quit putting down the people who are fighting, since she is so strong on everyone being able to have their own points of view. I won't even mention the fact that her dad was willing to give his life for this country, and did in many ways, apparently, and now his daughter sits while Rome burns but, again, that's her business; I just wouldn't use him for part of my excuse of not fighting and wanting them legalized.
This whole thing started because under the post of "No Expectations" on Aug. 9, 2015 (a few posts down), you'll see it was Sandy who came out against the people on the square, not the other way around. She says in that post a bunch of derogatory things against the people at the rally and the rally itself, and mentions that she wouldn't do THAT, but she fights by writing letters, emails, etc. That's how all this started. It was Sandy.
But now we can add to the story, because since then we have found out from Sandy, first of all, that she wants them to stay here, because we educated them, and she wants them to use that education here. Then we find out that she wants their tax money, and she really does just want them all to stay and be legalized.
She really could have just said in the beginning that she had a different point of view instead of disparaging the people at the rally, and lying about her own intentions.
I reread many of the comments some of you have posted here. First I here we are fighting the fight for America?
Question what kind of 'fighters' do you perceive yourselves to be when you can't even bring yourself to sign a comment against someone who does? Is it because you really deep down don't want people that know you to believe you think this way? Is it because after reading what you typed you didn't even believe it? You are not fighting or battling you expose yourself for what you are. Scared of being found out.

Honestly, this is pretty far down on my priority list. There is nothing coming from standing on the Square in Painesville. My property values are not going to go up, the schools aren't going to get any better and there still won't be a grocery store in Painesville, the algae bloom in the lake isn't going away, Monsanto is still selling Roundup by the barrel and I like my Hispanic neighbor, he's a hardworking guy and I know his name. First off if you make these illegals citizens and they have to pay Social Security Tax as well as income tax at the end of the year say they paid $800.00 in income tax and when they fill out their tax returns the formula for EIC could send them a tax return rebate of $5000.00? You would be shocked if you counted how many "loons" with my opinion are out here...... I am far from being in the minority.
I think they would be.
But thanks now I will get a barrage of comments how we hate our country and how honorably they are FIGHTING for our country. That there solution is to change the 14th amendment (not as easy as they claim) and all 12 million people WE let into this country will listen to them and back-up and leave. This is probably the same bunch that suggested we "Send them all back to Africa".
Just looking for a realistic solution.

Why?
Because I have a bit of an inside track in the City and I prefer to not put that at risk.
No, I do not work for the City in any way but I do have opinions that might differ from the Administration.
It is best that I fight the fight in a smart manner.
Term knows exactly who I am and even when we disagree we are civil about it.
After all, they are just opinions.

Sandy 10:14, NOT THE POINT. You can have any opinion you want about the illegals, but you came out nastily, and unprovoked, against the people in the square for the anti-illegal rally. Then you acted like the victim, and purported to just want everyone to be able to express their own opinions...you know, poor little you. Not to mention that you lied about your beliefs at first, and then later, and now, say you are for legalization. So again, NOT THE POINT. And I don't think anyone called you a loon for your pro-legalization opinion; they called you a loon for your outrageous behavior. You can go ahead and give the illegals every single thing you own for all I care, but quit acting like you can't have your own opinion when it was you who attacked others for their opinions, and then lied about your motives - even using your father to do it. You and Term can twist everyone's words as much as you want, but people get that it's twisting words, and they are seeing your underlying moral code. Just a bit disgusting in my book, and if I were you, I'd probably stop now. No amount of extra words is going to cover it up.
