"NO EXPECTATIONS" rolling stones

 ABOVE THE FOLD...

EXPECT THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF A WELL KNOWN DEPARTMENT HEADS RESIGNATION  SOON PANESVILLE
*************************************************************************

.Take me to the station and put me on a train I've got NO expectations

Maybe I missed something?

A local resident was killed, another one wounded and a  fourteen year-old almost raped?

By an  mentally ill illegal who had no business in Painesville. none nada!

So the Grassroots Rally Team hold a demonstration in Veterans Park yesterday .... and  70 souls show up? I believe it was closer to 100 but even that number was sad.

I witnessed two young Hispanic men stop and watch, yeah they laughed.

At one time I believed I knew the pulse of our citizens, not now.

What did I miss? It seems the same people show up for these rally's and even with what has happened in our community recently  apathy seems to run wild or we don't see a problem? Yes, if , I was living here illegally I would be calling home and welcoming people up to Painesville. Maybe Abbey was right?

Now what happens when /and if HOLA has a rally and three-hundred or more show up?

Agree or disagree these Rally people believe this country is being invaded. and   '70' people show up?

Do me a favor if you weren't at that rally yesterday please don't leave comments about illegals on the blog. It's pretty obvious where your heart and mind was yesterday, not on your community.

What if anything will be the message local Politian's will get from this poor showing?

A bunch of old-fart complainers.

Forget the rule of law let's just hand it over without any demands made by us?

Is VD dancing in the street somewhere?

Or have many of us just turned our back on this city's future?

I have No Expectations/ Explanations.....

Maybe this blog. should just be a trivia site?

Where was the Yakkity-Yak Bar in Painesville? what's there now?

Well, I might be an old fart complainer but some of us really do have other obligations.
For me, I was attending a 50th wedding anniversary for some great folks I know.
Maybe not what you want to hear but the plans were made long before any rally was scheduled.

In that vein, what will any rally like this accomplish?
The laws already exist so that won't change.
The authorities ignore the laws so that won't change.
Just exactly what did get done in my absence??
What you really had here was called "conformational bias". IOW, people hearing what they want to hear from people who think the same way.

Along this lines, it reminds me of the KKK coming to Painesville in the early 90's.
My question then, as it is today, is "What if the news media just ignored the rally?".
Did it really happen?
Without an audience, there can be nothing that really happens.

Other than Dave Joyce, it doesn't matter what message local politicians get from the attendance at Saturday's rally, because only the federal government can do anything about this problem. What good does a rally in Painesville do, anyway? If those who feel passionately about this want to send a message that might actually be heard, join with others across the country who share the same passion and rally in D.C. If that's not feasible, how about picketing nurseries in Perry, and construction contractors locally, that employ those who aren't here legally? In other words, stop doing the same-old, same-old to get their message heard.

Speaking of the same-old, I do agree with you that it probably was just a bunch of old-fart complainers at the rally - the same ones who have shown up before, and who do the most complaining at other public events and in the media. Unfortunately, I think these rallies only serve as a beard that hides their true feelings toward Latinos in general, and not just those who are undocumented. This thinly-veiled hatred may be enough to keep away those who think that immigration lawbreaking is a legit problem, but doesn't want to be associated with the bigotry.

I remember Yakity Yak but not where it was.....

If it were not for this blog, I wouldn't have known about a rally. It was in the News Herald after it happened though. Was it in the News Herald before it happened? Who reads the News Herald? You must get the word out if you want to have a rally. Also, pick a better place. I'm sure there were people who thought, downtown....no thanks. The park is free, I realize that.

Open comment to all Spanish speaking people in the Painesville Area. Everywhere you go, you see signs that also show a Spanish translation. If you Spanish speaking people put up a sign, please provide the English version on yours signs. Call it a simple courtesy, OK? We do it for you....do it for us.

Example, Church on Chestnut Street. Don't you want the news of Jesus known to ALL people, including English speakers.

Well some of us were working. But honestly I don't think I would have attended. This is not a group i completely agree with, Ralph King, Hal Werner? I don't need to spend time listening to how bad it is, I'm living it. We live in the age of technology, Internet and wireless. I will write letters until my fingers fall off. I'm not sitting on the sidelines but I am not attending a gathering of people waving pink signs, DEPORT, DEPORT, DEPORT. The paper covered it, front page on a Sunday and even the News Herald talked about the numbers and where was everybody. On a Saturday afternoon I can think of 100 other places I'd rather be.......
We are participating just not in traditional ways.

Wondering what the 60's would have looked like with Internet......

Was the rally well published? If I hadn't heard through the grapevine (this site) I never would have known. Maybe there were some that wanted to be there but couldn't as they did not want to be seen in the public eye, ya know that racist word.

To all of you I apologize if my post if it irritated you. Sandy I might be smart to run things by you before posting. I was wrong people have things going on in their lives.
I did learn one thing 4:42 I know things went on around here on a local level most of us weren't aware of. The Card the county supports, that's got to go period. I will sit next to John Muzic at commissioners meeting until it is gone. I will be vigilant in how all local authorities handle situations and why. Seems someone was at work while most of us weren't watching.

How soon Xenophobe forget? How many of you have Italian names? Go to the North side of Painesville, Falcones, Tony's, the Depot. I wonder what the know nothings said in the 1910-20's when your families came to Painesville? (I can tell you my father-in law never trusted italain boys with his daughters)

Isn't this story also about mental health services and gun control?

To Sandy 5:55, and the other people with their noses in the air saying you're too good, or whatever, for gathering together in your town to try to get your voices heard... I am sure everyone at the rally also write letters, etc., but there's nothing like a gathering of Americans, as we have learned all throughout our history, to help a cause. And Sandy, if nobody showed up for the rallies in the 60's, we'd probably still be in Vietnam. For anyone who doesn't want to be called a bigot, you maybe could give some thought to the difference between bigotry and trying to stop an invasion. It's no legal American's fault that most of the people invading this country are Hispanic. Political correctness is losing us our country. Most of these comments just sound snooty. If you're not willing to get your hands a little dirty, so to speak, by gathering together with other Americans, then please don't knock the people who are fighting for your country FOR you. I am shocked by most of these comments, and it makes me wonder what our forefathers would think of them. I just really am shocked.

The Rally Team and all the other groups who joined together in the square most definitely need to do a better job of advertising. I was very pleased with The News-Herald for publishing about this, and on the first page, no less. Thanks, News-Herald, but that also means that they probably would have published an announcement of it before it happened. I would definitely like to see the groups pre-announce in all the local and surrounding papers that they can. I think that would have helped a lot. And there are a lot of people who would welcome a chance to stand up for their country in public, but obviously need to be aware of it in advance. So I hope next time the groups advertise an event better, and thank you very much to The News-Herald for reporting on it. Thanks, also, to all the people on the square on Saturday who went to fight for our country. I couldn't be more grateful.

1:51 To some of you xenophobia means intense or irrational dislike or fear of people from other countries. Two comments today using that word?
I don't know what the know nothing thought? I guess them, the Irish, Polish and others had to assimilate and prove themselves? I know there was no Italian Maticular Card?

Mental illness and guns? Yes but if the rules that were put in place had been followed it wouldn't have mattered.
Would it have? Why wasn't the uncle on medication? and why and by who did he have access to a gun as well as a vehicle?

on another thought... Your father-in-law appears to have been a very wise man. I didn't trust them either.

To 1:51. Honestly for you to call people know nothings and then to compare LEGAL immigration back then to the ILLEGAL invasion of many millions of people now, doesn't show a lot of knowledge of the situation on your part. Nobody is fighting against legal immigration, although I personally think we should at this point. And the Hispanics have shut Americans up for decades by calling our fight against their ILLEGAL immigration prejudice. Sorry, anyone with a brain, who has looked at the issue for more than two minutes, knows that that is not the issue. The issue is ILLEGAL people in our country from all over the world, with the vast majority being Hispanic. And that's the fault of the ILLEGAL Hispanics, not the LEGAL Americans who are fighting them.

I wonder if the groups could also advertise on the radio stations, if they did not.

Thanks to John Muzic, and the rest of the groups, and now Term and anyone else who is fighting against the county using the Mexican I.D. cards.

I don't even know what to say to Sandy who says that on a Saturday afternoon, she can think of 100 places that she'd rather be. Oh, yes, I do...if you don't already know how to speak Spanish, you'd better learn, and you'd better hope that the rest of America wakes up now and can think of a reason that maybe they should go to a rally for an hour or two. If enough of them do, you can hold off on that Spanish lesson, if you don't already know the language, as just maybe this country will quit turning into a Hispanic/Latino country, and turn back into the America we grew up with, and that is with a nice mix of LEGAL citizens, and not an unrecognizable Hispanic/Latino or Islamic or anything else country. This is America, and hopefully enough people will fight now to save it.

At August 10, 2015 at 9:22 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Sandy, you say you know how bad it is, and still chose not to attend the rally, but you apparently forgot that if it was not for legal Americans gathering and marching by the millions when George W. Bush was going to legalize them all when he was president, they would have all been legalized long ago. And if you think you have problems now, just make sure you don't attend any rallies, because the illegals are giving birth to many thousands of anchor babies a day, and many thousands of those babies become eligible to vote in this country every day. It's almost all over but the shoutin', as they say.

The News Herald WILL NOT publish notices about these events. They only wrote the write up after because it was a negative write up. And 4:42, for goodness sakes, get your head out of your butt! You are still saying the people against illegal immigration have a bias toward Latinos?!! Unbelievable! You are so much a part of this problem with attitude like that.

I have to wonder if 4;40, 9:22, and 8:13 were at the rally?
They sure talk a big story while sitting behind their keyboard.
From the reported size of the crowd, I am guessing not.

8:42 You believe the story was only done because of the low attendance? Me 70 or 2000 might have wrote a different post.

Can did group advertise in the paper or anywhere else? Will they spend the money?
Facebook there are many free outlets to contact.

Odd the N/H posts many notices is it because of what the group stands for? Are you telling us they censor?

Hey - 1:51 you think the story is about mental health services and gun control? NO it's about being here ILLEGAL. Yes many people came from all over the world but - one word-LEGALLY. Through Ellis Island way back when. Now days one can fill out paper work. Lots of paperwork and red tape but this makes them one thing -Legal. Look up the old pictures, requirements from ancestors coming to America. Those from south of the border would all be stamped 'Denied' and sent packing.

OK, I forgot to ask about the department head leaving. Seems the illegal issue has precedent here (too bad it took a murder to wake you all up though) Who's gone now? Another department axed by the new city manager? How many will this be? This needs to stop. If this person chose to leave on their own, I'd bet the store the city manager and his actions pushed the employee over the top to leave :)

8:42,

I don't have my head up my butt, but if I did, I'd most likely see you there and have to reach for the T.P.

As for your lack of reading comprehension, I didn't say that people opposed to illegal immigration in general have a bias toward Latinos; just the ones who hold rallies in Painesville. If Hal Werner, in particular, isn't biased against Latinos, he sure does a poor job hiding it. If Katie Jenkins was politically savvy, she'd try to register as many Latinos in her ward who are eligible to vote, or campaign hard to convince the ones already registered to vote for her; all she has to do is tell them how Hal feels, and let the message spread.

Finally, for the record, I am strongly against illegal immigration, and am not sorry when someone who isn't supposed to be here legally is deported. I just don't need to attend jingoistic rallies with people who have trouble hiding that they don't like others because of heritage or skin color; you know, like some of the people who have posted comments on this thread. I'd have the same reaction if a black or Latino group in Painesville had a rally in the square that denounced white people. Instead, I have sent letters and made calls to Steve LaTourette's, Sherrod Brown's, and Dave Joyce's offices to voice my opinion that more should be done to crack down on the employment of undocumented workers, mainly by penalizing business owners who employ them. I did this because I have uncles and cousins in the construction trade, mainly drywall, who've lost a lot of work because contractors went with cheaper Mexican labor. So I do care about this, but I've chosen to speak as directly as I can to the people who can actually do something about it (with legislation) if they choose. Attending lame rallies conducted by the same bitter, old, racist white guys year after year pales in comparison.

1:11 Maybe the director got an opportunity in the same FIELD as he had in Painesville?

5:36 I guess I'm trying to understand your thoughts? You don't mind if an illegal gets deported? You believe family members have lost job opportunities to illegals. But the people in the park Saturday are just racists? I will agree that some but not all against illegals do to skin color.
My biggest beef has always been that employers take advantage of them and it hurts working American families. Does that make me a racist? Most could careless if they ever voted?
Let's admit it that unskilled Americans have taken the most dollar loss from illegals.

8:42, if The News-Herald will not publish announcements of anti-illegal events, then it is good that you exposed them here.

5:36, it's not legal Americans fault that the largest number of illegals in this country are Hispanic/Latino; it's the Hispanic/Latino's fault. I think you'd better use that toilet paper on your mouth, too. I'm with 8:42, and REALLY think your head is up your butt now.

Maybe just maybe you take a job because it's a great job you want to do and opportunity to work with who you'd like to work. or the overall benefit package.
or you in the position not to have to worry about how much you make because you invested and saved. or a combination of the above.

A pay cut? the qualifications have been dummied down to fill it. They already know who they want to put in it - someone with no background or experience in the job that has been for years. I now know who is leaving after the front page of the paper.
