'WELL IT'S BEEN A WHILE" stained
Well its been a while. Oddly when you have a problem with your leg and foot and the doctors have corrected it, you in a very short time find out you have another bigger problem that might have nothing to do with the first. That's where the problem of symptoms comes in when it finally lands you flat on your back to the point the Painesville EMS has to carry you out of the house. Back to the hospital along with the very heavy meds some that led me to believe Gwyneth Palttrow was one of the doctors looking after me.
The miracles of drugs.
Not much happening around here but it seem Painesville did catch one unpleasant first page story on the News-Herald. Seems Lake County Probate Judge Ted Klammer is not to happy with the city utility departments. Odd the Judge complains once and its on the front page. People on Elm St. have to live with rusty water until city residents are "blackmailed" onto a $8.00 surcharge amount on their water bills. What the Court House seems to be experiencing with is what many Painesville resident have also been putting up with in the past years. One caveat the County pays no property tax. He even mentioned a county relocation to Mentor maybe the county can explain where that money will come from? Remember the hospital left. My point as I understand it no one answered the Judges complaint from the city administration? I can only hope maybe a council person checked in with the Judge? No mention of the flooding was made by anyone at the past city council meeting. Remember lets stay positive. If you remember at the council meeting when Main St. streetscapes were discussed the city will spend $250,000 for new electric lines on Main St.
At that time Councilman Flock asked about the water and sewer lines on Main St.
He was told that at that time the city administration felt those utilities were in good shape. The water line break? Ground Zero St. Clair and Main St. you can't make this stuff up. Wonder where the next break will be?
Main Street Streetscape will show city residents how to best waste a million dollars in a small area.
While I'm I mentioning city council meetings. At the last council meeting I attended I was left very uncomfortable with the feud between the Hatfields and McCoys {Werners vs. Jack's} I understand the the two can't seem to get along but a council meeting is not the place for this. I an worried that this has the possibility to blowup into something far worse then it is now. At the last council meeting Council President seemed to do his best to end this side show with little results, but at least he tried.
I guess he could ask the Werners what exactly they believe council could do to legally solve this problem in writing. At this point I see the city without a solution to this situation. Along with the present actions making them worse.
By now you have received your new county tax appraisal what do you think???

JUST A SHORT NOTE HERE. THERE WILL BE NO TOWN HALL MEETING THIS WEEK AT ELM ST. SCHOOL COUNCILMAN FLOCK IS SPENDING THIS WEEK IN EXECUTIVE MEETINGS INTERVIEWING CANDIDATES FOR THE CITY MANAGER POST.

Thank you to Judge Klammer for speaking out against Painesville utilities. Glad to know that SOMEONE has our backs here in Painesville, where we seem to be at the complete mercy of this city's utility department, and the people who are employed there.
County tax appraisal: built my house seven years ago for $186,000, now the county appraised it for $131,900. That's a 30% decrease in my property value in 7 years! Will I see my taxes go down? Doubt it, didn't happen last time.
Where and how do they come up with these crazy numbers? And wouldn't it be to the county's benefit to keep the appraisals high in order to get more tax revenue?
The point I got from the Judges remarks is Painesville utilities take their customers for granted. What are you going to do, quit?
The appraisals have to merit the prices of home sales in the community.
Remember when you were told the best investment you can make is a home?
On one hand I am glad the judge made the comments he did to put a fire on the administration, on the other I question his judgement in briging this to the press versus working with the county and city admiistration. The biggest issue I have is he said this had happened multiple times. If this is the case why are they so dumb as to to continue to rebuild in the basement of one hundred year old building. It does not take an engineer to get a clue about that one.
I live in Ward 3 near LEC. my house had a prior market value of $112,250 it's 2012 market value is $96,650 [-14%]. My coworker in Mentor says I should be grateful. His house lost 30% in value. I don't feel very grateful. What is the average loss in Painesville? Lake County?
Welcome back Term. I missed you more than I thought I would.
Judge Klammer is grand standing, and it's a shame. It's my understanding the County is not backing up his rants, and they were not even contacted by Judge Klammer to discuss a remedy the situation. The City followed protocol, corrected the issue, and returned water service to the jail.
It even states in the article that this is not the first time this has happened at the court house, and that it is the result of a line problem ON THEIR property. Did you not read the same article I read?
And I could not agree more on the Werner's issues. He was a councilman for 4 years and did nothing to solve that "problem" - what does he expect current council to do?
Hope you're feeling better soon...
7:34 The News-Herald published the average amounts of property appraisal loss in the Lake County communities.
Painesville City -15.68%
Painesville TWP. -6.59%
Mentor -6.59%
I would be curious about your Mentor co-worker loss.
Your home is probably your most valuable asset. As hard as it might seem to pay higher taxes, it's easier to take if your investment keeps growing.
10:22 6:16 Grandstanding or not
If you have an asset as a basement it would be nice to use it? I also believe it's not only the water break but storm sewer backup also.I can only hope that the problem the Werners have can be solved. Council meetings are not the place for that debate.
I sincerely appreciate Judge Klammer's speaking out against Painesville utilities. You can't trust your bills from these people to be honest or accurate, they are charging us too much (and every time we turn around, we are paying for some new add-on to our bills), and some of the employee's attitudes and behaviors towards the citizens is shocking. Some of the people in charge at the electric department's payment office don't belong there, let alone to be there in a supervisory position.
There is a notice about HEAP this year that says that Painesville Utility customers MUST (their caps) have an autorization release on file at the Painesille City Utilities Office. So who knows what that is, but it sounds to me like just one more chance for the people in charge at the Utilities Department (and the people who protect them) to jerk the citizens around. Wish the judge could look into THAT for us.
Judge Klammer came to the rescue of all the animals in Lake County when he stepped up a few years back and finally ended the era of a person who was in charge of The Lake County Humane Society and should not have been. He finally got rid of her, when nobody else had been able to do that even though different groups had tried for many years.
So thanks, Judge Klammer. Glad to know somebody is watching out over things around here. I, for one, very much appreciate it.
Judge Klammer doesn't even reside in Painesville. Go...take the county seat with you. That should eliminate the homeless problem, illegal, drugs, etc.
Be carefull of what you wish for 7:24. The county employee's pay a large share of city income tax. It's no gaurantee these other problem will follow them.
