"LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS" beatles

Attended the Painesville School Board Meeting last night. Many topics were brought up including the new Principal at Harvey, that for an upcoming  post. Finance Director Taylor last day on the job will be July 31, 2012.
The board voted to appoint Treasurer/CFO, as approved with the Lake County Educational Service Center for shared Financial Services, meaning both will share the Treasurer and both will contribute to her salary.

The board also agreed to approve a Shared Service Agreement with Riverside Local Schools for Director of Nutrition Services. This will save both districts money as they will share the cost of the
director and will probably save money on bid purchases of food stuffs.

They also agreed to a Shared Service Agreement with Riverside Local Schools for fuel Purchases. I wonder how this will affect Painesville City in that the schools had an agreement before with the city?

Also they voted to approve a Shared Service Agreement with Riverside Local and Perry Local Schools for Director of Transportatation Jim Haffa. This will put all three bus services under hs umbrella and at times Painesville students cound be riding  on a Perry bus and a Riverside student could be riding on a Painesville City School bus. Also he will coordinate repair issues between the districts.
These changes should show saving for everyone involved.
Can you imagine the savings if all three districs agreed to privatize this bus service?

The board also spent  time discussing Ohio Senate Bill 316 I would suggest all of you read this. One change is that if a student cannot read at a third grade level he cannot move to the fourth grade. There are waivers, some that did not  make sense to me . One if a student is in this country for less then two years he could move to the fourth grade, I guess I don't understand the logic . Also if during the  first half of the next school year the student can pass to the third grade level a provison to move that student to the fourth grade has to be made.

One Resolution #12-240
Maybe an educator could  explain this to me is a Moving Stipends? So what exactly are you moving from one school to another?

Finally The Board passed Resolution#12-225 to proceed with a Current Expense Levy, of 4 mil. to be placed on the November 6,2012 ballot. This has also been approved by the Election Board.

which will you be more likely to vote for - the 4 mil school or the 2.5 mil city levy?

Can you imagine if all 3 districts were combined into just one

Painesville, Riverside and Perry

One instead of 3 of everything.

All schools would remain open, top management and redundantcy of services combined.

This would save millions of dollars wasted on redundant overhead.

From An Obama speech in 2008, and you all wonder why our coal power investments went South so quickly?

"So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can. It's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted. That will also generate billions of dollars that we can invest in solar, wind, biodiesel, and other alternative energy approaches."

Lets see 2.5 mill for roads, 4 mil for schools? House value down, no raise in four years along with no kids in school.
Na I think I'll pass.

Too bad, another administrator living in another community, not much support. Jim Haffa used to be with PC schools, but left for better pastures. Seems he did well.
I can't see combining ALL services, that would mean a possible change in the reins for PC's SuperPHD. He's run this district into the ground and ruined it. (Where is Joe Mucciarone when we need him?)
Migrant education is at the top of the food chain. The only interest is $$$. The more students, the more students, the more money brought into the district. Doesn't matter if habla English, are a behavior problem or if you are even legal. Which brings me to this question... If I am required to provide my child's birth certificate and immunization records...why aren't the Hispanics?

I thought Murphy stopped all this nonsense when the voters spoke by not electing him. He needs to quietly go away.

Voter, It's a free country. How many times did Lincoln run before he ever got elected?
John nor anyone else needs NOT to go away quietly. To many in the past have and probably is the main reason we're in this mess.

Hada and his gang lost Murphy his first two elections by telling lies about him right before the elections, when there wasn't enough time for Murphy to defend himself. As I recall, he had a very good showing anyway and probably would have won had they not done that (which is why they did that). The last election, he was running in a new area, so most people were not familiar with him. I believe he made another good showing.

Murphy would be a wonderful choice to have on council. I supported him then, and I support him now. I am grateful that he still cares enough about Painesville to run again. He's smart, level-headed, and he doesn't let anyone push him around. We would not be in these messes if he had won his campaigns. One of the things I like most about him is that he starts from scratch, and he does his own research on issues. He was hugely opposed to all of these bad energy deals that are burying our city, and he spoke out against them, trying to save us from these scams.

We would do well to have Murphy in office in this city. I cannot believe, 2:00 PM, that anyone would still be so off-the-mark that they would prefer the council members that we have now. That is how we got into this mess--people like you who are not paying attention, and keep voting in the same people who have worked so hard at wrecking our city. Even when the citizens warn them and warn them about issues, they go right ahead and vote "proudly" (Hada) for deals that are threatening to take us down.

If Murphy runs again, I will be sure to support him in every way possible.

Even though I am totally against Hada and his group I still would never support Murphy.

Thats like trying to decide between two evils like Obama and Romney

7:08: Obama saved out country from a complete crash that the Republicans mostly created all on their own. I believe it will go down in hisory as one of the greatest (and maybe THE greatest) saves of a country that has ever occurred. If you have no idea that you almost lost your country to a total financial, and every other kind of crash, and that the Democrats saved it for you, then it does not surprise me that you would not see the potential in John Murphy, and would opt to keep the status quo--meaning the same people who are taking down our city.

I want a job, like Mitt, where I'm the CEO, President, etc., have no responsibility, don't do anything connected to the company, and get paid lots of money for it. Talk about making your own reality.

Murphy will never have my vote. He paraded past the funeral of the marine that was killed, Baker.
When I saw his truck drive by a couple times with his sign, then and there - No Way.
I was trying to follow the original blog regarding the schools. When I went to the board minutes, did I see pay raises for administrative and exempt employees? Am I reading that correctly?

6:14 During the board meeting I don't remembering hearing about any pay raises? That doesn't mean you are wrong only that I didn't hear that.
Murphy didn't have his truck that day? I do agree any vehicle should have had political signs removed.

6:14 I looked at the minutes and if your talking about #12-251 your a better man than me I can't even read the small print in it. and #12-252 I believe address's "steps" Your probably right. If this body decides to increase wages and at the same time ask's for a levy you have to wonder what going on in their heads?

to 6:14pm, what do you think of this?

TRICARE Fees and Co-Payments. The Administration is disappointed that the Congress did not incorporate the requested TRICARE fee initiatives into either the appropriation or authorization legislation. The Administration asks the House to reconsider the TRICARE fee proposals, which are essential for DOD to successfully address rising personnel costs. The $1.8 billion in savings are part of a carefully balanced FY 2013 Budget request.

There are no group of people more patriotic than our servicemembers who fight and die for this country. Maybe they do need to pay a little bit more to balance the budget but not until AFTER we cut welfare, food stamps, bailouts, stimulus, inflated teacher salary, public unions, etc etc...

For Obama to be so disappointed in our US troops is disgusting to say the least.

I have been informed by the President of the POC that Painesville City Schools do not have a Jr. High by a Board member? O.K. We do have a school that houses 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. called the Middle School sorry if that word Junior was used in stead of Middle. The facts stil remain the same whatever you call it.

Romney claims he can fix the economy, Hell he cannot even file his federal tax return, on time!

Romney also belives in a smaller Federal Government? Remember he was running the Winter Olympics in 2000? He sure was he hit the Feds up for over 342 million in earmarks [you understand earmarks don't you tea partiers]
50 million more than was spent by the Federal Government on the Olympics in Atlanta.
This election could have been a slam dunk for Republicans they have turned it into a horse race with a questionable horse.
Only because that horse had the most cash on hand.

Term, lets share this story with all the pro-lifers here. Bain Capital invested 75 million dollars in Stericycle a disposal company that disposes of aborted fetuses. All this while he was still signing SEC documents that he was the sole owner of Bain Capital. Those that doubt this please feel free to look it up.

Your absolutley right. All Mitt has to do is release his tax records and if things here are wrong I will stand corrected with an apology to him and you.

2:01 remember when you bought your house? Most banks want to see 3-4 years of tax returns. This guy wants to be our leader yet doesn't want to show us anything? Why could it be that during some of the time at Bain he made millions and didn't pay a penny in taxes? We wouldn't want the little people to know that. Then again this might make him a hero to most Republicans, who anly wish they could hide assests offshore? Welcome to the NEW GOP!

So are you saying it wasn't Murphy's truck? Or Murphy lent it to someone who drove it past the church during the funeral? Not buying either bunk. I saw a vehicle being driven by Murphy or a look-a-like. So wrong any way you look at it.

I'm not saying you didn't see a vehicle with a Murphy sign only at the time it was on a Buick. I believed at tthe time you mentioned he had sold it.
And I did say it shouldn't have happened.
Seems you should be mortified at the policy's of the administration that was running thing then..

You know, I could not attend the tribute to the fallen soldier, but if I had, I also had Murphy signs on my car, and you know, I would not have thought to take them off. It just wouldn't have occurred to me at the time to stop and think of that specifically, and to take them off because of the place I was going.

Whomever it was, it was surely an oversight. I am certain that Murphy, or anyone else, would have meant no disrespect, nor would they have purposefully disrespected, a fallen soldier.

I'll tell you--the uproar over that has been unjust, in my opinion, and really bothers me that people would even say that, let alone still saying it so long after the fact. I just can't imagine that anyone did anything on purpose to disrespect the soldier or the situation.

I will be so glad when murphy gets on city council. A thought:: if lori gets elected to the state house, council has to fill her chair right? I wonder who was the runner - up in the council race in 2009? I think it was murphy but I am not sure. waiting for "common sense" on city council.

Council is not required to appoint the runner-up. I suspect the majority will tap Bill Horvath or Abby Delamonte or perhaps a new "favorite".

At July 20, 2012 at 4:52 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I believe that council has to take letters of interest, interview the candidates, and appoint someone. I highly doubt Mr. Horvath will be on the list due to his health issues. If Lori gets elected to another position, anyone is free to put their hat in the ring.

As a Pcls teacher, there is a TON of things you have to move from one building to another...teaching materials, records, supplies, etc. Don't forget, most of our students do not come in with the tools to be successfull due to their home life. Additionally, you have to move outside of school hours.

Now, having said this, I had to move twice when the new middle school was built. It took a long time, and was more difficult than I thought, but I'm not sure if I needed to be compensated for it....I thought it would be a good way to save a small bit of money....
