"BACK WHERE YOU BELONG" part deux

Now Planning has approved what it already had approved and it back to council Monday night. Two items on the agenda took from 7:30pm until a little after 10:00pm.
Many of you have read the article in today's News-Herald, and I will clue you in on what the News-Herald writer meant when mentioning "met with some hostility by neighbor's."

First off the Steele Mansion part of the meeting started out as deja vu all over again.

Something new was added to the mix last night. Mr. Callenders son Jamie was in attendance along with another attorney who I must believe must have been retained by Mr. Callender Sr.
For some reason it got around to Steele Mansion becoming a Bar, Nightclub, Party Center. and Jamie Callender brought forth a NEW list of restrictions?
Along with the other attorney wondering if a court reporter should be present? Then came the threat "Legal action against the city as well as the Shamakians could possibly be just around the corner in the near future.

Mr. Callender Sr. addressed the commission and claimed he has been "violated." Also certain members of the city administration have lied to him. Mr. Callender please explain how you were violated and whom lied to you from the city? It serves no purpose to leave that accusation in a public forum and walk away from it.

The Planning Commission passed the resolution and now it is back in council's hands Monday night.
I have no idea what this exercise was all about and I doubt it will bring an unanimous 7-0 vote Monday night?
I doubt that very much. I would like to tell everyone that the Steele Mansion is in the final stretch of becoming a reality but add lawyers to the mix and anything can happen. I do see an opening on the Zoning Commission very soon.

Jamie Callender brought up the fact that this Inn will be a negative business located next to his mother and fathers home as well as other surrounding properties. I beg to wonder what has been the effect on property values since that building caught on fire and has slowly declined over the last ten years? I would also wish young Mr.Callender would have approached the Shamakians about his concerns before meeting them for the first time Thursday night.

Monday evening could be a very interesting night.

Hey Term

There was a shootimg at Liberty and Pearl St last night around 3 am, the roads are still closed off some houses were hit, there has been a lot of partying going on at the old Liberty Shop rite store on the corner, the people around there have been calling the city about it for a long time.

It's hard to believe that Jamie Callender was a past president of the Lake Conty Historical Society?

Some men see things as they are and ask why, I see things as they can be and ask why not? Jamie Callender

As long as it doesn't pertain to me or my love ones.

Alright smart guy. let's see how you handicap Monday's voting on the mansion?

It's impossible to.
First I believe this whole send it back to the Planning Commission as to not have council vote on a zoning change.
Nice idea I don't believe it will work.
Call it an R2 or a B1 it still provides for the Inn to do business at that location.
Council-President Hada would love this to pass 7-0 I don't see it happening.
Lets say I see atleast 3 NO votes on council do to the fact of certain allegiancies. Along with I heard this from him and he told this to her and it goes on and on.
4-3 infavor is the best I can call it and I'm not even sure of that. Then again Council-President might bring everyone in line. 7-0.
So the simple answer to your question is ...Whatever the Council-President wants for an outcome.
Someone else mentioned just because you have seen political signs in front of certain buildings don't count that as an automatic YES vote?

I see a 7-0 vote in favor of the Inn. The Callender Family has little political clout in Painesville.

7:26 I wish I could share your optimism, and I hope you are correct. It would be a shame to let an opportunty like this Inn slip past Painesville.
Let's hope those who vote feel the same as you and I.

Someone should remind the Callendar Klan that they had the chance to purchase that property for 10 years. Now when someone restores it they complain? To there way of thinking a bulldozer would have been there choice.
Lori,Mike, and Paul we will be watching.

Yes.. I agree with Term.. The Calendars are wrong and the Inn should be able to do what ever they want! its about time people stand up! who cares about one single family resident,, They should of known better!

The Callendars property should be respected. The Inn owners have every intention to run a first-class Inn and within a short time of operation I hope that many in the neighborhood will view this as a positive addition.

Check out Lincoln Day 3/30/11 Chayahoga County neat photo of J.Callender and Paul Hach.
Should we read anything into this?
You might be on to something Termie?

Hey the shooting in Painesville made the paper. Guess Termie can't complain of a cover up on that one, Eh?

Pretty hard to cover-up 40 rounds being fired near the middle of town,Eh?

Duh, you have complained of coverups during past violence. Now something did make the paper...what no kudos to those doing their job? No still same-ol-same-o.

Duh, It's pretty hard to cover-up 40 gun shots flying around someones neighborhood,
The kudos will come when an arresst is made.
I guess we can be proud that this happened in Painesville?
You have to wonder how Cleveland Magazine will deal with this and other incidents in this years rating of the suburbs?
Pile on some more B.S.

Have any arrest been made? It's been 2 weeks. My daughter at HHS said that it was 2 boys shooting at each other and it was all over some girl and that they're all under 18. Are these Harvey students? Are they still enrolled in school? I was willing to wait for the pending Waterman Report but I'd hate to think it's just business as usual at the High School.

12:04 I have heard the same rumor that it was over a girl?
Let's give the police time to make an investigation and see what they come up with.
Speaking of investigations remember a year or more ago when that retired school teachers house blew-up on Homewood? Did they ever release a cause for that explosion?
There was alot of speculation at the time what was the cause.

What's the difference? Even when we catch them they will probably escape from our local jail anyways?
First we can't watch them at hospitals and now they are escaping from jail.

Same Said- Term just doesn't get the point does he? We do though.
Some just can't see the forest from the trees.

I believe 6 weeks is time enough for the investigation concerning the 40 shots fired on Liberty Street. If the PPD doesn't have anything, then tell us that, ask for help, put out an award, do something. I don't want to live in a community where that behavior is tolerated and ignored. Aren't we better than that?

I'm still waiting to see the answers of what caused that retired school teachers house to blow-up on Homewood. Yes something should have been known by now. Maybe PPD should question Harvey students they seem to know who and where most things that happen in town.
