"GIMMIE SHELTER" rolling stones
It seems the 99% movement is gaining strength? Someone asked me to compare the
99%er's to the "Tea Partiers".
That's simple, age and commitment. Tea party people are committed what are you talking about? Yes in there own way I guess they are they will charter a bus and ride half a day pay big bucks to hear Sarah, or Glenn tell them what's wrong in the country, wave a few signs, some will even strap on as sidearm. After the event closes they hightail it to the chartered air-conditioned buses ride home to Scranton, Albany, Columbus, or wherever.
Now compare the chicken and the hogs commitment to breakfast? The chicken kicks in the eggs but the hog's hide is the bacon. Whose's committed?
These 99%er's are young Americans that were promised the American dream. Put your nose to the grindstone spend big bucks [that you will have to pay back} and become part of the dream.
Older people that have faithfully worked for a company that kept telling them they were part of the "family" well until downsizing took over. You every here of a family downsizing?" Does downsizing mean moving your operations to China?
They all have become so disenfranchised in America, and they grow in number more and more daily. No charter bus, no job no retirement no dream just a tent and many people sharing the same nightmare. Who in the long run will change America the tea party or them?
Now we hear politicians telling them what wrong with you? Your goal seems to be to divide this country! Well what has the tea party managed to do and who was cheering them on?
The tea party are patriot's these people are to be viewed as a mob by one Republican leader.
An American Spectator Magazine reporter brags how he incited a riot at a Washington Museum.
I think some people in Washington should spend less time worrying about what the 1% will do FOT them and worry more what the 99%ers will do TO them.
18 Comments:
Glenn Beck claims these people will drag you out of your house steal all your money and kill you! And Term supports them.GBTV
So the 99%ers got called a mob. boo hoo. The Tea Partiers have been called terrorists. Jimmy Hoffa incited violence against them by saying "let's take them out". Any time a tea partier protests you criticize them. Yet these protests are ok. You lean so far to one sid I can't believe you haven't tipped over yet.
I guess it all depends on which side of the fence you sit on. What, there are no Democrats in Wall Street? What there are no poor Republicans?
No more taxes are OK for our schools but not for Americans as a whole. Let's skip the evil 1% for a moment. How about pension funds, 401k's and the like. Do we go after these too. A lot of these invest in Wall Street.
Debit card fees, we all use them and like the fact they seemed free. Stores payed the fee for you. You paid higher prices to cover that fee. Banks can't possibly provide this service for free, could you. Well if you reduce the amount banks can charge stores for card usage, guess who is going to make up the difference? Looks like Uncle Sam decided that the banks will now charge us instead of the stores. Bottom line, we will see the bill on OUR statement instead of a hidden price increase on our store tab.
On taxing the evil 1%. Doesn't sound like a bad idea as long as it stays with the 1%. What's to say let's tax the top 10% or top 20% and so on. I'm all for taxing those who can more easily afford it as long as it just doesn't keep adding to the number of people who are solely on our entitlement programs. We need to get people off welfare and back to work supporting themselves. Almost 50% of American's don't pay income tax. Are the Occupy Wall Street protesters all Robin Hoods? Are we looking at our neighbors and deciding they make more than me so they should now give me some of their money. Do all the people with pensions invested in Wall Street give them up and turn them over to share with these protesters? I would be the first to share a meal with those less fortunate. I would not just put up a sign that said free food.
Term, we all know where you stand. We do need some changes. But one thing I see that is different between the two movements is that one wants the government (all levels) to follow the laws (Constitution) and solve the problems we face. The other has decided for themselves to TAKE from the rich and give it to those who make less. I worry about WHO decides how much to take and who to give it to. Will my less fortunate neighbor now want to take from me? Protest as long as you want but until you state your goals, I will continue to question you.
One believes more in capitalism and the other is believes in socialism. Basic difference in ideologies. I would rather be self dependent than dependent on the government.
Wonder what the 1.9 million dollars spent in police overtime will do to the NY police department's budget. Will there be more cuts from the dept. and complaints from the police unions. There is already talk of canceling the next police academy class.
3:41 Your still listening to the Beckster uh?
I guess the tea party paid for all there police overtime?
4:28 I would rather the government not take the side of the 2% at the top. You keep believing your not dependent on the government. Where were you when Bush bailed them out with TARP?
The Republicans better re-think this one fast or it will up one of there greatest mistakes. What's Cantor going to do next? Tell them to eat cake?.
My question is just how long before we see the occupation of Veterans Park?
occupation of Veterans Park?
How, they already kick the homeless out now.
I'm only dependent on the government to protect this country from being invaded. I pay my way every time I pay federal and state income, sales and property taxes. I pay a lot more than 15% for my health care. I also pay my half toward Social Security. So, explain to me, just how do you think the government supports me? All the government does is redistribute my taxes. Poorly.
Again, can't you come up with ideas instead of blaming Bush and the Republicans? Take a look around you, things aren't going that great under Obama.
It's funny to see the likes of Michael Moore, Rosanne Barr, Susan Sarandon, all multi multi millionaires themselves make their publicity appearances at the protest. Wonder how many jobs these people provide.
There are other negatives to this movement that people protesting don't seem to care about.
Billionaire Democrat New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Friday doesn't think too much of Occupiers, either, saying in an interview with New York City's WOR Radio, "If the jobs they're trying to get rid of in the city—the people that work in finance, which is a big part of our economy—go away, we're not going to have any money to pay our municipal employees or clean the parks or anything else."
And another thing, he says: "None of this is good for tourism."
So, this could just turn around the and bite you in the a** too.
Turn around ain't much fun is it? I got Mikey, Susie, and Rosie, but look at your side of the ledger? You people can't even figure out what a Christian is or isn't? Just shows how shallow some of you are. I see Cain is the flavor of the week now, tell me is there anyone you people can all agree on?
I don't care about tourism, I want jobs for these people that your boys took overseas.
In case you haven't figured it out the other half of you Social Security is part of your wages?
10:17 How long would you last without a job?
That's the difference between you and the 99%.
So, explain to me, just how do you think the government supports me? All the government does is redistribute my taxes.***
To 10:17 PM:
The interstate highway system created itself. The rural electrification program created itself. The G.I. Bill that created countless hundreds of thousands of jobs created itself. And NASA, which created the computer revolution that created even countless more jobs, created itself. Etc...
I hate paying taxes. I despise it. But, I'm also a responsible and mature enough citizen to realize they are necessary to keep our nation intact.
What's your excuse?
10:17 Must be that guy that bought 5 F-16 for us last year? I guess when all you want is a small government you get rid of the FDA, FAA, Hell why should people in Utah pay for a Coast Guard?
10:17 never received a student loan, or a State University. a home loan, a business loan [SBA] he did it his way. Who is he the Amish man that must live here in town, maybe?
Just give all the wealth to the top 1% what's that saying all boats rise? Herman Cain says if you don't have a job it's your fault? Please crawl back under that rock Herman.
How will this protest evolve? Republican Dogma suggests first they ignore us, then they mock us then they fight us and then we win?
These Wall St. people are not anti-capitalist they just want a share of the American dream. Revolutionary hardly.
OK Name one person who lives in Painesville that belongs to the 1%. There you go with the assuming again. Who said I pay all the income tax in this country? I have always paid my share. No, I didn't take out a student loan, get government assistance to buy my home or take out a small business loan. By the way, any of these are paid for by the taxpayers who share the costs. How about you? Did you get any of this money? That and all the other F-16's stupid comments you made make little sense. Protests can be a good thing. This one seems to be turning into a big party with all the fringe groups and kids showing up. There are right and peaceful ways to protest and there are just wrong ways to protest by turning your message into one of "It's a big party". It needs to be more like MLK and less like Woodstock. There's that perception word again? Term, even you will have to admit that there are some crazies demonstrating and many different groups with their own agenda. Will the message be lost because these people take all the attention? You talked about crazy tea party outfits. At least they kept their clothes on and didn't smoke pot and leave garbage all over the place. Again, perception.
Wonder what the this looks like to other countries? This was in a British paper.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2047664/Occupy-Wall-Street-Children-1-good-time-protests.html
Cain???
Don't look now Term, You are starting to sound just like a Democratic Racist just because you disagree with the Republicans and one of their possible choices for President. Guess it is OK for you.
All those 1% people must be living on Nebraska St. Only a fool would believe Republicans care one Iota of what the people in Painesville problems are let them eat cake!
They care more about power then finding a solution to our economic problems.
8:14 Got a little time to get back to you. Daily Mail who owns and runs the Daily Mail? Rupert Murdoch and News Corp. Thats like me sending you to a story from the New York Times? So we went from a mob to to Woodstock?
Most tea partiers you wouldn't want to see with no clothes on. Yes and what were those people smoking that had tea bags attached to their hats?
Protests can only be a good thing if there for YOUR cause?
The tea party took it's name from one of the biggest civil disobedience of its time.
9:27 Herman Cain? I've got 999 reasons he will never be nominated by the Republican Party.
Heres a story about a guy who paid people $7.00 an hour to make and deliver $10.00 lousy pizza's end of story.
The Daily Mail? WOW
10:17's beliefs are closer to what our founding fathers envisioned than any of you know.
Government at a federal level was intended to provide only those items that citizens could not provide themselves by banding together at the local level.
Standing Armies, National road systems, Monetary system, these are all examples of what the federal government is supposed to provide.
Welfare, block grants, rent assistance are all items that should be controlled and provided locally and then only to the extent that the local citizens approve.
Our founding fathers were very astute and realized there are many things more efficienly provided locally than nationally, where we went wrong is having "professional Politicians" instead of regular everyday people taking turns as representatives.
TERM, you say that they just want a share of the American Dream. Well, what they want is someone else's share of the American Dream. I am a Republican, and I'm not rich. Lower middle class. I do not expect someone who has succeeded to give me part of their money to equalize us. They had an incentive to work hard and get where they are. For many reasons I didn't achieve that height, but I dont' begrudge them. They are the ones creating jobs. I believe we all have the right to pursue the American Dream. We don't have the right to have it handed to us at other's expense. And by the way, I am a Christian.
3:25 They want a share of the American Dream. Some don't want to share they want the whole thing.
Over the past three or four decades "money" has purchased our politicans to a point where the playing field is nowhere close to being fair. Disagree if you wish but check how the wealth distribution has changed over that time.
Most wealth created on Wall St. comes from money manipulation rather than something being created. Executive salaries are nowhere close to the people who work in there businesses 40 years ago. Please, the job creators for the most part are not doing it here but somewhere else.
So,now tell me what Christianity tells us about wealth? How much is enough?
I think it is wonderful that Americans are finding their voices. Some of the young people in the Wall Street movement may not have a good, thorough background on what has gone on in this country for the last 11 years, or maybe just some of their signs aren't quite portraying what they are thinking (I don't know, and I'm not saying that I do), but the main idea behind the marches is fantastic and long overdue.
One example of a sign I saw that I personally think was off the mark was "Down with Capitalism." Hopefully that person did not mean exactly that, but in the broader sense, it is a good message they are sending. If they are against the working classes paying their fair share of taxes, while the big corporations and the rich pay a lesser percentage, then I am with them. I also think they are tired of being cheated by banks and Wall Street to where they are not getting a fair shake. It's about time something is done about it.
Obama has made a good beginning of making banks, credit card companies, student loan companies, etc., play fair with the American people, and now I think the people have hope that things can change and be fair for them. Most of those people are Democrats, but they may not know it yet.
I say bravo! Demand to be treated fairly and honestly. Demand to work and play and live in a society that has the cards equally stacked in your favor. Rock on, Wall Street protesters. It's wonderful to see Americans telling the truth and demanding a fair footing, and I think that that is what they are saying. That's the way I see it, anyway. I think Obama started a sea change in this country, and these people will enormously help the effort and demand results. It's about time.
