"MERRY CHRISTMAS 09"

I want to take this time to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year during this season.
I am truly grateful to know some of you and even wonder if I know others. Charterlady, madpotter,Badger, JT,, maddog, Mr. Rellik, yes even KAREN, All The Anonymous. I wish all the best to you and your family's.
I apologize for some remarks I have made here over time, sometimes my temper gets the best of me when friends I know who only want to do whats best for this town are ridiculed or lied about. I must learn that it comes with the turf.
This forum was for all of us to express our thought of whats in store for Painesville positive or negative.
The next year and decade this country, state, and city will face many challenges, I only can hope most will be solved with some understanding and common sense.
Painesville is at a threshold, we will leave important parts in the past; such as Lake East, the future with New schools ready to educate our young. We all will embark on new ideas to deal with what our children and grandchildren will face. We have many pluses to build on, yet at the same times must understand there are things that we have to be challenged to be made right..
I wish the two new council people the best in the decisions that they will make to make Painesville a better place to live, work, and play.
Merry Christmas, God Bless..... TERM

Merry negativitry to you.
Lets see you tried to get us to vote for the John Murphy, why is anyones guess.
You take our city manager and tell people we owe 3million dollars for something that wasn't built. After she has told you we owe nothing.
You critize Joe Hada for what? leading this city for 28 years.
Who made you the expert on hospitals, downtown development, fire resposne time? It goes on and on.
Your New Years resolution should be to either shutup or move.
Take the other clowns with you when you leave, please.

Term:

From our Home to Yours, and from the heart, Merry Christmas!!

The two of us thank you for this blog, that presents the truth of the environment/policies/practices and of the stumbling/mumbling that occurs at city hall. Posts that should awake and open the eyes for all who live in P'ville and who should care about the present/future and futures that we face and most certainly our grandchildren will face.

Most Important, we are not limited to only three minutes to comment.

Ho Ho Hee Hee!!!

Bless you Buddy, for all that you have provided. Do all a favor, don't STOP NOW!!!!!

Charterlady et al.

Thanks for the good wishes, Term. Same to you.

As far as I'm concerned, you don't have to apologize to me for losing your temper over lies. I don't think telling lies should come with the territory, nor do I think there can be any excuse for them.

Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year to you and yours.

Merry negativitry to you.
Thank you! I like what you said now its my turn.
I wish the handful of killjoy bloggers and all those wet blankets and loose cannons that come to every council would all move out of Painesville. Off to looserville with all of you and take your negatiity with you too.
Term said he apologizes to those then in the next breath he rips them apart. Even Eb Scrooge and the Grinch found their kind hearts, take a message from them and make nice.

Thanks Term for spending so much of your time over the past year to provide us with this important blog, and for caring so much about our city.

Also, thanks for the good wishes. Same to you.

For all the people who are asking Term and all the others what makes them think they are experts on the hospital:

Did you notice that Abby, Hada, Hach, Fountain and McMahon LOST the hospital for you? It's all gone. Empty building. Kaput. Good thing THEY are the REAL experts, huh?

At least the few citizens who are active knew what was going to happen and fought for us -- very hard -- to get the city to do whatever was necessary to keep the hospital. It is my opinion that if our city leaders would have cooperated with Lake Hospital System and quit playing hard ball and/or games with them, then we would still have a hospital.

When Term and the rest knew it was too late -- that the city had lost the hospital, then they started to fight for us to have an emergency center.

I say to you: rethink what you are spewing. You can do it while sitting in the empty parking lot of the hospital.

If not for this group of people, our city would be even worse off than it is.

I drove by the empty hospital building yesterday while on an errand, and I DID pull into the parking lot and sit there in disbelief and sadness for a few minutes.

It's gone. Gone forever. If you want to applaud our city leaders for that, then go ahead. For me, it's just one more really bad thing that they have done.

That is not to say that they do not do some things right, too. What I AM saying is that it is the duty of the citizens to watch over government, to point out what they think is wrong, and to try to help the leaders to do the right thing. Thank goodness that some citizens take this seriously enough that they give of their own time and energy to try to do that.

In this case, I cannot follow your argument that the city leaders were the experts when it came to the hospital, since the hospital is all gone.

I for one like what Terms doing, whats his agenda? Hold some office. I don't think so, Some organization award? Heck, he's trouble for them. I true caring for Painesville? It just may be a case of someone watching whats going on, and just saying enough is enough.
I remember him telling council not to purchase a vehicle because of the engine problems they were having. They bought it anyway, then the chief tells us a unit is down because the motor blew-up with less then 20,000 miles. Why does a private citizen care more then people payed to know?
A new downtown I'm with him,300 apartments are not the answer.
If by some stroke he is right about the city owing AMP-OHIO over 3 milliom dollars. I believe that will be the end of this administration, and we owe alot to all the people who tried to stop Joe Hada, and this administration from being what do they call it? Fiscally Responsible. We will be watching for answers.

To 2:09 All the talk about downtown redevelopment is just a smoke screen to get people to forget about the hospital leaving.
I disagree there is only one person who should be held responsible for the hospital leaving. Time will prove this out. That will be her legacy. Ask any city planner what would you like to have in the center of the city? A hospital or 100 condos? Hospitals adds prestige to a city. Along with jobs and related services.
Of course maybe they left because some of you said take it or get out?
Some have mentioned it here. How hard do you have to try to lose a hospital?
Ask the bloated administration?

About the AMP-OHIO: At the last council meeting, I do not think that McMahon actually SAID that we do not owe them 3 million dollars.

She was evasive, and she never ACTUALLY said that we will not owe them money.

She said AT THIS POINT IN TIME, we have not been asked to pay them any money. (I'm not sure I am quoting her exactly, so I am leaving the quotes off, but this is exactly, or close to exactly what she said.) She also said NOBODY HAS MENTIONED THAT WE OWE THEM MONEY YET. Now, I would imagine the key word is YET.

Then she goes on to talk about a meeting in January that they are going to have with AMP-Ohio to talk about other projects that may be possibilities for us.

I think if you read in between her cagey lines, she probably means that if we get involved in another project with them, then that money will roll over (or something) into the new project, but if we do not, THEN we WILL owe them money for the failed deal.

Really, go back and listen to what she is EXACTLY saying and not saying.

Fiscally Responsibe?
How much was spent after the hospital had decided to move?
How much of Painesville pay in matching funds to get the downtown master plan and streetscape plans?
What amount do we fund the DART program?
How much in permit fees did we forgive the city schools/
The City Manager is one of the most Fiscally Irresponsible People in the City. Why? because we let her be that way.
If we owe AMP-OHIO the money Mr. Cimaglio Says we do, she should be let fired. Not for bad advise but for telling tales on this subject and many more. This time people will not sit idle. Our eyes are starting to open, and its not a pretty picture.

Is there a polite way to tell Term to shutup that most of the people in Painesville wish he would do. He adds nothing to the city but doubt, and critices our fine leaders.I only hope the new council people will find away to end his ramblings.

Hey 1:43...what Term is doing is exercising his basic rights as an American citizen IN SPITE of the obfuscation and mis-information presented all too often as fact by our present local administration. I remember you from your old union negotiating days and you were always good at identifying a problem and finding a consensus somehow. I think its time the city begin working WITH its citizens rather than assuming the average voter is not interested or unable to understand the issues. Oh and 1:43....in case you forgot...this is TERM'S blog....you don't have to read or comment on it, although that is certainly your right. Thanks Term for keeping things in front of us...

No matter where you go there will always be problems, it is undeniable. There will always be the good and thwe bad in everything and those that see what a place is and accept it and try to make the best of it. "The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence" come to mind here. I seriously doubt that perfection is attainable but some seem to think that it is.

I just wish others that read this blog are able to see that the arguments against the City are fairly one sided and that many of us like it here regardless of the pitfalls that every town across this country has as well.

I live on a side street and it was plowed this morning, small victories is what I look for. Thansk for the well wishes TERM and I hope that you may find peace in the New Year and a chance to see what Painesville really is, not just a place...JT

PAINESVILLE SCHOOL BOARD:
7:30a.m. Tuesday special meeting to discuss constuction and general business, Harvey High School Hanlon Presentation Room.
Hanlon Presentation Room, wonder what he paid to get his name on that room?

5:45 Sorta busy this past week. If you can't wait send me your address and I will mail it to you.

JT. You just be happy in the little pleasures of your street being plowed. I'm happy your content to live in this "place" Why even dream about what this "place" could really be like,uh? You paid for that victory friend, don't forget that fact.It was not a gift.

Your to easy on JT. not just a place.
No JT. we are a place where we are thought of having the worse safety in Greater Cleveland, a place with the third worse school system in Greater Cleveland suburbs, a place where you have no grocery store, a place where you can't buy a pair of shoes, a place with little activity for our youths like a public pool,a place that residents think its a victory to get their street plowed, a place with no HOSPITAL. Yes JT. we're in a great place. Jt. Shop Downtown Painesville!

Hanlon Presentation Room.
I'd be alittle more concerned what will be discussed at 7:30AM?
Construction is pretty much done, general business that can't wait?

I was also under the impression the board didn't want to put peoples names on things? I thought they would call it the evergreen, or cherry room?

Just to let you know;
Today my grandaughter developed a rash. Her Pediatrician was off this week, and the phone service suggested that we take her to the Quick Care Center downtown. My daughter called me back and said they were closed due to an "emergency" this was a 3:00PM Monday afternoon. I went to check closed due to emergency? 4:00PM out to Tri-Point its strange we went from a city with a full service hospital to a place that can't keep a doctor and/or nurse here on weekends and now they close for an "emergency" on Monday?
Progress? Now I will be looking like JT. "looking for little victories."

TERM, The differance between you and I is that you get mad when the hospital moved and I think that at least I am still in driving distance. I take a differant outlook is all andd the mere fact that I get slammed for having and enjoying my opinion is the reason that this country hates the way that they do.

And as ignorant to the problems of the City that you think I am, I know that I paid for the streets to be plowed, but thanks for reminding me. I also don't get mad at the waitress when she forgets my sour cream, or my dish is not totally correct, I ask nicely to have it fixed and I am Ok with that.

I have been involved with this City since 1992, when I first moved here. I have seen too much evil for one lifetime but have also seen things change for the better since my time here. The word progress does not mean overnight as some think. Make Painesville better for your kids and grandkids as best as possible and be satisfied with that.

TERM, At the end of your post you said "Now I will be looking like JT. "looking for little victories." Did you mean it or just being...sarcastic...? In war, the "little victories" add up...JT

If all you expect are occasionally getting your street plowed, or a hospital being within driving distance, then you will get what you expect. If you keep lowering your expectations, the City will start providing less and less. You can't just sit back and go "oh well," the fire department can't get here, but at least I have a hose and a spigot outside. I guess if you don't expect to much, you won't be let down, and you can just go on being happy with whatever the City decides to do.

I see who the survivors are. If things get really bad, those that can adapt will survive. Those that can't will just blame someone and beg for more assistance. All I here is talk of lemmings and all I see is whining. God help you if there is a big storm and you get really socked in. If your iphone and computer are down who will you call to complain to that things were not done for you?

Big storms don't worry me, but some of the people making the forcast do. Survivors adapt. They don't walk into the inferino with a smile. They know when someone poops on there head and then expects a thank-you for the hat, there not buying it.
Be happy in your bliss but some of us expect a little more then what we are getting.
This will be an interesting year coming up not only in complaints but doing something about them.

why does not term run for council if making all these changes is so easy to do? maybe he can be the big savior he talks about all the time, since murphy lost. my guess is that he does not because deep down he knows that it is not that easy and he won't be able to keep on talking about other people and what they dont do for him. i am willing to bet that he snaps back with a good answer to this but the real reason gets left off the post. put your name on the bgallot term and make the changes that you preach that others should be making if it is so ddog gone easy. put up or shut up.

I personally think that Term is doing an unbelievable service to this community with this blog alone.

Without him and the other citizens who keep a close eye on the city, I believe this city would be in a whole lot more trouble.
