"GOD IS GREAT, BEER IS GOOD AND...."

PEOPLE ARE CRAZY"

I know when I put up a post about "illegal immigration" I'm going to get alot of well hate mail. I'm a racist, a skinhead, Hitler ect... I expect it as away to shut me up.
That said.

I can't believe how many have been so angry about me bringing up the Cleveland Magazine Suburb story. Painesville was ranked dead last in safety out of 76 suburbs and the third worse school district. I didn't write the article, I didn't rank the cities, I just told you about the article. One person blamed me for his house not selling because I brought it up at as City Council Meeting and a friend of the buyer told him. Another couldn't believe a born and bred Painesville person would dream of bringing that up? Others stated since I couldn't even believe it, it was a lie to bring it up. Others felt that the city should not answer the questionaire any longer if we weren't getting good press.
Some thought the city and its leadership were in "denial" amd would never get out of the basement.
Perception is Reality, even I can think of at least twenty cities Painesville is safer than, the people who read that article will never hear Chiefs Smith answer and Painesville will still have a black eye. What are you folks going to do about it?

One thing has become clear to me after the story about the hit and run on my daughters car. People have been telling me of suspended and unlicensed drivers, uninsured drivers and vehicles this has reach unbelievable numbers in town. You maybe safer but your car is driving around Tomestone. Can we aleast do something about this?

Nice article in the News-Herald today {Sunday} about Painesville. Just don't go online and read the comments on their web page.

The comments on the web page, its the same negative people as post here. look at the writing style, the spelling, the grammar, Karen's caps, she wrote at least two of those posts.

Yes Term, your little group that feeds off painesville bashing is bad for the city, and yes, we would be better off if you would all just move out.

This is the essence of bad information. Any sentence you start with "People have been telling me..." Or "I have heard..." Just screams "ignore what follows, it is totally unfounded" If you have a good source tell us, but judging by the people you hang out with and your buddies here on the blog, I am not inclined to believe a word of it, or I should at least assume it is greatly exaggerated. You are a rumor mill. You disgust me.

How could the city manager do an article about the population of Painesville and not mention the number of Hispanics? What does she ignore everything that she doesn't want to deal with?

It was a good article??? The CM is running for cover with all the bad press shes had in the last few months. Cobblestone, Cleveland Magazine the list goes on. No mention of the growth of hispanics in Painesville . No mention what school system the children will attend in those developments. The article told less about the real Painesville then the wish this was Painesville. If those develpments were in the Painesville City Local System they would be empty. Where do Dr. Hanlons children go to school? Where did Mr. Fodor children graduate from? Rita please quit blowing smoke!

Perception #2 is correct crimes like the one mentioned happens everywhere. Drugs follow no boundaries and just about everyone has been touched by the crimes that drugs cause. Every time someone says lets legalize this or that drug they must not think about how many people it affects in a negative way. Lets hope and pray those young people get straight and that baby grows up in a loving home. Painesville is by far not the only place with a drug problem.

Legal residents as we are taxpayers. Our health care is outrageous because we are paying for their free healthcare. The free clinic is filled with hispanics that an american can't even get an appointment. Also, Head start is now known as Mexican Head Start. Call and see if there is an opening for your child.

I like the idea that if you welcome illegals you support them. It's not that the people of Painesville are bad, this illegal situation has just overwhelmed most of the services and people in town. The City Manager and Council have let this get out of control. Instead of worrying about selling all the electricity, and water you can. They never cared enough about the quality of life in town.
Sometimes I get the feeling the light and water plant means more to the administration then the people who live here, are you running a community or a ulility company?

Yes, the legal residents support the illegals. CM has such a padded salary that she won't miss the money supporting them, but the rest of us hurt.

Someone needs to explain to me why posters here keep saying "schools get money for illegals".
I have searched everywhere I could think of and can't find a local, state, or federal program that says a school gets more money for educating an illegal.
I have found programs that give schools money for "economically disadvantaged" students. So if these are the programs everyone is complaining about we could actually save more tax money if we got rid of all "economically disadvantaged" white students first, then black students, then the mexicans. That should be the order we go in if you are trully worried about tax dollars.

Guess how they determine "economically disadvantaged"? by how many register for free lunches, by how many in our census are below poverty level. I have always heard that illegals are hard to catch because they stay out of the "system", so how are the schools getting money for them?

Please, someone explain this to me, I don't understand how it can be both ways.

At July 14, 2009 at 10:10 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Schools get money based on attendance. Why do you think they wait until the third class of the day to take attendance. Decrease property values and lose tax money. Increase attendance and the tax burden increases and taxes must be raised to support the new schools and all the special education classes required.

At July 14, 2009 at 10:51 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

8:57am, we are obligated to educate all children, regardless of legal status. Whether they are here illegally or are anchor babies born to illegals makes no difference to the school system. They educate them. The exhorbitant numbers of children of illegals who are in our school system is beyond comprehension, yet we are paying for them. The schools get the same amount of money for each student, regardless of legal status. By the way, we have so many disadvantaged students (predominantly due to the high number of illegals who hide their income so they qualify for benefits) that ALL (I repeat, all) children in the school district get free lunches and breakfast. Who do you think pays for that?

And what, pray tell, do you expect the City Manager, and/or Council, to DO about it? Mexicans want to move here. Whose job is it to stop them? What do you propose the City do, erect physical barriers and refuse to allow anybody to move in unless he or she can prove legal status?

I suppose you want us to go back to the days of deed restrictions about race. When a property deed would actually state that a piece of land couldn't be sold to a black, or a Jew, or an Italian. You want to go back to that?

I'm with 12:18. A lot of you people just don't like Mexicans, period. You know that you have no way to know what a given Mexican's legal status is and when it gets right down to it, you don't care, either. You don't like them being here. And you want the City to do something about it, when there isn't a whole lot the City CAN do.

If you know someone's here illegally, then report it. If you can't report it because you don't know, then quit making assumptions. Fair enough?

Cop to your own feelings, folks. You don't like hearing Spanish spoken around you. You don't like feeling like the minority in your neighborhood. You don't like the music, maybe. You just don't like the demographic shift, period. Well, you better try to adjust, because the world is getting smaller every day.

In my neighborhood some of the nicest, most well kept, beautifully landscaped homes are occupied by MEXICANS. It's just a fact.

And no, I'm not Hispanic, I don't work for the City, I'm certainly not a landlord. Been there, done that, it was awful, (the landlord thing) I'd never do it again. And no, I don't like hearing the constant 'oom pa pa' Mexican music, any more than I like hearing some ignorant idiot's boom car blasting rap. It DOES feel weird sometimes, feeling like the only white person shopping at Walgreen's or Rite Aid. But that's life in this day and age. It is what it is. You can fight it, or you can adapt. Or you can maybe try to find a place to move where you'll never see a minority. Good luck with that. . .

There is that magic word again. RACIST. I think some people just throw that word around as their own form of reverse discrimination. Do we have racial problems in this city? Yes we do. Reverse discrimination isn't the answer. We haven't had slaves in this country for over 145 years so no one living here is a victim of slavery. Are all hispanics ILLEGAL? No they aren't but some are. How many?? Who knows. Until this ethnic group decides to become part of our community and not their own separate society, how will anyone know anything different.

If you want the support of the community then you must be part of the community. We have Irish-Americans, Italian-Americans, Japanese-Americans, German-Americans and all the others. Why is the Hispanic community so resistant to becoming Mexican-Americans?? No one is asking them to give cultural heritage. If you want to come here for a better life and/or work then you need to follow the same laws as every other person who immigrates to this country from the rest of the world.

Perception is the word of the day here. If the Hispanic population truly wants respect and not to be labeled ILLEGAL, then they need to quit hiding behind the word RACIST and truly join the community. That means accepting our culture without giving up yours. You want our respect then respect our country and it's laws. Want to be part of the community then learn our language and use it when you talk to someone who lives here.

Criminals always say " I didn't do nothin". That tells me they have something to hide. When you say "no comprende" makes me think you have something to hide also.

Again, want respect then obey the law and respect the community. Don't use or take things from your neighbors property like things from the garden or using their property without permission. Don't crowd several families or 10-20 people in a single family home. Don't abuse the curfew laws and let your children roam the neighborhoods after curfew. Don't park cars all over the yard and allow trash to blow all over the neighborhood. In other words "Do Unto Others as You Would Have Others Do Unto You".

Perception----Now not all Hispanics are ILLEGAL or do the things I listed above. But as they say, "One Rotten Egg Spoils The Whole Basket".

Are you a RACIST if you are against criminals such as drug dealers, robbers or sex offenders? No. If you use different names by changing the order of your name to receive public assistance then that is fraud. All these crimes cost everyone money in taxes and quality of life.

We need to have a form of identification that proves who a person is so we can stop these crimes. All US citizens are tracked by their SSN. We need a method such as E-Verify to track everyone else to put an end to these forms of crimes. In this day and age of identity theft and the threat of terrorist attack or even the influx of the gangs such as MS 13 from Central America, we need to know who is in this country.

Everyone worries about Big Brother and their privacy. A form of ID for everyone is a passive form of checking someone's ID. You only need it if you apply for benefits, health care or if you the police need to find out who you are among other things.

If you TRULY have nothing to hide then what is wrong with having an American ID. Every American has one.

Yes, being bilingual is one thing but having only 40% of 10th graders pass the graduation test means nothing if you can't speak English or Spanish. How much do ELS classes take away from the standard classes that so many can't pass these tests?? Are some of the regular kids overlooked for these classes. What about the best students??? I know that some of their classes must be held before school starts. Is this what we have to look forward to for more of our kids???

We can't feed, protect or educate the world. With today's economy, we must make sure our taxes support all our children and not just one group of children. I wonder if the statement that headstart is so over crowded that kids are being turned away.

At July 15, 2009 at 5:07 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Maybe this is what our great 50% grading policy will led to.

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had once failed an entire class.

--------------------------------------------

That class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism".

All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.

As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little. The second test average was a D! No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

It could not be any simpler than that.

What a silly thing to say. Asking someone for an ID in not charging them with a crime. Where did you come up with your "guilty til proven innocent" from what I said. Makes me think you are hiding something if you think you are guilty just because you are asked for a valid ID.

Anyone applying for a drivers license, loan, health care, and the many other things all American need an ID for is NOT accusing anyone of a crime. If any American gets stopped for a crime he or she must show proper identification. Same thing when you go to the hospital. Having and showing your ID is so they know who is responsible for the bill. The court system decides if you are guilty and not the person asking for an ID. Again, an ID is only a passive way to keep track of people. Don't do anything wrong, no one checks your ID. Don't have any medical bills when you leave the hospital because you paid your bill in advance, then no need to know who you are so they can send a bill. Need I go on?

By the way, if someone uses someone else's name at the hospital, what happens if the medical records and medicines get mixed up? Who's responsible then? The hospital, the one committing identity theft? What if someone in your family dies because of this?

I repeat, nothing to hide then no reason not to have or show your ID if asked. So just tell us, what crime does showing your ID commit? We all want to know. What are you afraid of by showing your ID?

So much of what you said is simply not true. The point is that you need to have a reason to ask someone to prove they are a citizen. How are you going to ask people? Based on race or going door to door? Because neither are a good enough reason.

You keep saying if anyone gets stopped for a crime... but how are you stopping people if you have no suspicion they are breaking the law?

At July 16, 2009 at 12:59 PM , Anonymous Badger said...

I never said proof of citizenship. You jumped to that conclusion all by yourself. WHY?

I was born in the US. That makes me a citizen. Guess what. No where on any ID that I have says I am a citizen. No one has ever asked me to show any citizen ID. I would need to show a certified copy of my birth certificate to prove I am a citizen. To get a valid ID, you usually have to show two forms of identification. SSN, birth certificate and/or photo ID issued by the state. There are other forms of IDs as well. Passports, Visas, green cards, and temporary workers permits. All of these are issued after submitting proper identification. Who in the heck is going door to door asking for IDs. Where in the world did you get that from my posts. When people are young, you are required to show ID to buy beer or cigarettes. If you are stop for a traffic violation, need medical care at a hospital, get license plates or drivers license, open a bank account or take out a loan, everyone is asked for an ID. There are many times during your life that you need to show an ID.

Just tell me who are you claiming is going door to door. A valid ID has nothing to do with proving citizenship. All adults in the US have some sort of ID. Usually it is a drivers license. When I got mine, I had to show my SSN and my birth certificate. All three of these forms of ID are verifiable.

Now, if I go to another county, guess what, I must show my valid ID. Passport.

So, tell me again, who is going door to door asking for IDs? Since you say I'm lying, tell us the truth who is going door to door. Tell us why you are claiming they are. Must be a reason. Nothing to hide then nothing to fear.
