Interesting point of view. I would like to add or change one thing. Instead of Jose Illegal, it would be more accurate if you called him illegal immigrant. As such, it would include all people here illegally. Here Hispanics are the first ones pointed too when it comes to immigration but illegals can come from any country. Go to other cities and you might have a different group of immigrants.

Now, not all immigrants are illegal, but the ones who are put a bad light on the ones who are legal. I have to wonder how many illegals have jobs when they sneak across the border? How many receive these benefits until they do get work? How many live in rentals 10, 20 or several families to a house. If I know of at least three myself, how many do you or the city know of?

One thing you didn't mention was the increased cost of education for the children. How about the ones who go back to their home country part of the year. Now they need extra schooling to get caught up with their class. If multiple families live in the same single family house, do we get to collect extra school taxes? No. This is a drain on our school system.

How much money is sent to their home countries and thus out of our economy. To use the system, one must be a part of the system and not live in the underground society.

Now, some of you will use that magic word and call me a RACIST to say illegal immigration is OK.

Me, I prefer to call myself something else. "A LAW ABIDING CITIZEN" who happens to also be a PROUD AMERICAN.

If you know of two or three houses yourself with 10-20 people in it why aren't you turning them in? You claim to be a law abiding citizen, call the legal authorities.

Who are the landlords renting to these people?, Lets see some names on here so we all know which landlords are renting to illegals.

It is getting rediculous how many people post on here they know of "illegal" activities, don't turn the people in to the authorities, and still claim to be "law abiding" citizens.

Homnes with 10 to 20 people livng in a single dwelling have been brought up at council meetings and I am sure it has been reported also. The city just doesnt care, they turn a blind eye. When you go by a house with 7,8,9, cars in a driveway, or go by a house on garbage pick-up day and see 3 oo4 totes plus, every week you can pretty much assume theres alot of people living in that house. The present City Manager could care less. Her job in town is to make her job carefree.

Funny thing this year a new awing with no poles ,seating close to the building with people able to walk down the sidewalk along with it looking 10 times better and NO complaints?

TERM, thank you for posting this. Hopefully it will open up a lot of people's eyes. this is not an issue about being compassionate to immigrants. We are that. It is about being tolerant of law breaking illegal aliens who flaunt their illegal status in our face every day such as SUV poster. He makes all legal immigrants look bad. He is one of the ones that need to be deported, and soon. He, I have no compassion for. SUV man uses all our services and spits on out land, drags our flag through our street. Along with the abuse we see in our welfare system we nust remember a large group of Whites and Blacks do their own fair share of abusing of the social safety net. I wonder if its just human nature to feel everyone owes you something. I was in a local store and a woman was talking to here friend and said she was "insisting in a section 8 home with a garage."She and her children were well dressed in designer clothes and her boyfried had expensive footware. They left the store and got into aan expensive 2 or 3 year old SUV vehicle and drove off. Leaving me with "why am I even going to work?"
Oh, and no one in this story was Hispanic or Black.

Yes, I did report them to the authorities, Numerous times. All I got was "we went there and knocked on the door and no one answered." Funny thing, one time I was off work early and the city came to check on one house near me. Sure enough, no one answered the door. I went around the block and drove by again and the tenants were outside and the city inspectors, or whatever, were gone.

No, I will not post names here or any other blog. I also won't accuse someone of a crime here. You do that to the police or to the city. No one on this blog can legally do anything about this.

Yes, all ethnic groups know how to work the system. It is a talent passed on from generation to generation. Now we seem to have added another group to the game. America is a land of freedom not a land to have things handed to you free. Your rights are free not your welfare.

I have lived in the Painesville area most of my life. Not as long as Term, but almost and the problem of so many unrelated people living in the same single family house or apartment has only begun in the last say 10 years. What has changed about Painesville's population in that time. Ask the people who came to council meetings from the Parkview area. How about the people who live by the Post Office? Didn't someone here say there was a big fight in the street there last year sometime.

Fraud costs all of us working people more in taxes to pay for this crime. Living next to a house filled with so many unrelated people steals the QUALITY of life from the neighborhood. Just ask elderly lady from the city council meeting. How many times has she come to city council meetings to ask for help? What did she say at the last meeting? I can feel her pain. I just don't think this is what they had in mind when they named the city PAINesville.

I also think the new tables outside Flavors on the Square is good for the city. There is a semi-permanent fence around it and in no way hinders foot traffic that far exceeds that on Washington Street. Too bad no one is in town at night to make it profitable to stay open past 2PM

With the 4th of July coming up it's time to remember;

"that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

No where does the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution for that matter say you have a right to a FREE ride.

Remember our servicemen and thank them for their service.

Still Law Abiding and Patriotic.

I want to thank you for explaining some of the vehicles I see people driving around town in. Until I read this post I assumed everyone was a drug dealer, which isn't the case. If your not paying taxes,and or living with someone who is getting free rent and food plus medical I guess theres a good chance you can afford that kind of transportation.

Ever helped at a food bank and helped carry food to the cars. I have and you would be surprised to see the cars that you have to load the food into. Some you wonder if they will make it home. Others are range from new or almost new Mercedes Benz, Lincolns and Cadillacs. Funny thing is that the honestly needy almost always thank you. The others stand back and watch you do the work for them and then drive away with their noses in the air. It's like they expect you to wait on them.

I have a question for people with gardens. I have a couple of friends who stopped putting in a garden because just when everything is ready for harvesting, "people" pick their gardens clean. They believe this is due to their "new" neighbors. I'm told it goes beyond the normal kids roaming the neighborhood with nothing to do. Nothing is smashed, just gone. Anyone have this problem with their "new" neighbors?

As far as the awning at LaMexicanna I cant believe a business would go through all that expense and it not be legal? They spent alot of money although they probably could have the same results with umbrellas. One mans garbage is another mans treasure. I see nothing wrong with someone getting use out of someone throwouts, one time someone went thru my trash and left it scattered all over the tree lawn. Just dont leave a mess.

A couple of points here. First, TERM stated what I was going to. It's not the going through the trash, it's that they leave a mess. That's rude and very inconsiderate. Again just concerning themselves in their own wants and not taking any responsibility. Second, why would they go to this expense if it's not legal? Because they know that latinos are pretty much exempt from following ordinances. That's why. Also, why is it that my child can get picked up for curfew violation, understandably if he was out past, but have you driven around town from 10pm to 12midnight? The city is crawling with groups of underagle latinos. Why are they not cited, taken to the station, and their parents called, and then hauled into juvenile court? I have called to report groups, and sometimes a police car will drive past but not even stop. Usually no car is sent. Why is this? Too many to write a ticket for? Then leave all children alone, not selectively give one race a free pass to roam.

I have a friend on a fixed income who quit putting in her garden 2 years ago. She would check the garden in the morning and everything that was ready to harvest had been picked in the night. Everything. This is inexcusable.

I've seen them walk down my street with empty bags headed toward a garden. On the way back their bags are full. This is more than once. Sometimes 2 or 3 "people" and sometimes just one at a time.

Term, what was your neighborhood like back then? Was it like it is now? All we had to worry about was a few groundhogs and rabbits. Maybe a kid or two smashing pumpkins but that was all. This has only started happening since my neighborhood changed in the last few years. Can you guess the change?

By the way, I told the owner of the garden who was doing the stealing.

My Grndmother even in her 70's had a large garden on Sandford St. that she hand spade every year, she got so many peppers, tomatoes,beans, even strawberries she ended up canning them and still gave large amounts away. I can only imagine what would have happened if she found someone stealing. Moma Mia!

Later, I realized that garden was more than a hobby it was her life.

Cultural differences, I can understand. (Though really, certain people need an education about the concept of everyone's right to 'quiet enjoyment' of their own home - loud music and screaming children until all hours of the night is NOT acceptable) But stealing from gardens? That's ridiculous and shouldn't be tolerated. Did anyone ever confront these people, if it was so blatant, what they were doing? What was the outcome, if so?

From what I've seen, Mexicans plus garbage bags = laundry day. For those who don't know what I mean - it seems that many of them who make use of the laundromats in town use garbage bags to take their clothes back and forth. The men, anyway.

Curfew. The City’s curfew restricts persons 12 and under from being out from 9:30 pm to 5 am; persons 13 to 17 years of age from 11 pm to 5 am; persons 17 and 18 years of age from midnight to 5 am. I see kids as young as 2 riding big wheels down my street at midnight. And groups of 10 and 12 year olds riding bikes through town as late as well.

I'm talking grocery bags. The gardens are in the opposite direction as the laundromat. I told the owner about the garden. What would I tell the police. Someone walked down the street with a bag of vegetables. Owner must file complaint.

I always here they are family and church oriented. What does that have to do with obeying the law or respecting someone else's property? Even Term's ethnic group were church and family oriented. They were call the Mob or "the Family"

attending church doesn't make you religious. Lots of criminals attend church. I think they have a "give me" mentality and that includes cutting a neighbor's roses whenever they want, or picking a garden clean. Sure, that's just what we need to draw a higher class resident.

good people and bad people exist in every ethnic group. The bad ones from any ethnic group are usually attracted to certain neighborhoods because of a few factors.
Cheap, easy to get living quarters, apathy by neighbors to do anything about it, lack of legal enforcement.

Excellent statement. Lord knows it is a sin to use the "R" word on this site but what else do you use to describe it when someone takes a few bad people of a certain race and attributes their bad qualities to everyone of that race? It is really disgusting. And guess what, caucasians and african americans do the same exact things. I hope none of you have kids. The thought of a young impressionable mind growing up under your guidance makes me sick to my stomach. I hope none of you procreated and these assumptions and stereotypes and yes even racism dies with you. The world will be a better place.

See I must confess I went to school when government classes taught you about Countrys having sovereign rights, and borders, that had nothing to do with race or and persons just wanting to be somewhere else. I have a hard time with the Federal, State, and local governments ignoring the invasion of my country, and all I hear is my hands are tied. I had only the number of kids I can support, without government assistance. If I could just keep having babies knowing that someone else was paying for all of them and their expenses, then I would have had several more. I am responsible, and I am raising responsible children who love this country and believe in obeying the laws. That is what this country needs. Not a bunch of kids who were taught to break the laws and take every entitlement they can find. SAD!

There are plenty of other more credible theories about how the empire fell and most importantly theories not created to just try and serve a political agenda.

Have you been in Home Depot, Rite Aid, our own Painesville Public Schools everything is bi-lingual. If our President attempts to make the illegals citizens he will have tea partys he never thought possible. I with Term I'm not going to reward lawbreakers and I will not vote for people that do.

People with no juristiction? How many people have to complain about broken code ordinances to their councilpeople before any action is taken? The Painesville Police look the other way, why? The Muni Court is a facilitator, If we don't get some leadership with backbone soon there will be nothing left.

Lets be honest we have lost control over our immigration policy, we do not control our borders. Our military is on the other side of the world, and the countrys leadership has been terrible for the last 20 years. Sounds a lot like Rome. Racist wait until your I.D. is stolen.
