"CAN'T BUY ME LOVE"

Monday night I asked the clerk of council if I could get copies of the last three Finance Committee meetings. Council President appoints three council members and the City Manager, Finance Director make up the committee.
I figured that the city with a budget of close to 80 million dollars these meetings would be filled with useful information on the financial state of the city.

The last Finance Meeting October 6,2008 started at 6:45p.m. was over at 7:25p.m.
The one before that one March 21,2008 started ar 4:30p.m. ended at 5:30p.m.
The one before that was on August 27.2007 which started at 4:45p.m. and ended at 5:15p.m.
80 million dollars a year and less than three hours spent by this committee since August of 2007.

You can draw your own conclusions with these facts, but I have to ask whats the point?
Maybe you people could get together at least once this year considering the state of the economy.
Not that they have any useful information, but I will check into Ohio House Bill 3359.

Your mistake and like alot of the rest of you are all on the belief that council runs this city. The Law Director is "Painesvilles Wizard of Oz'. The CM and CP are his flunkys. Where else do you get a part-time job that pays you over $70,000 a year plus benefits? for what maybe two hours work a week? Think about it. Then ask Why?

Look up the records, I believe Gurley or his firm represented Hada and Delamotte at one time.

Mr. Gurley is a part-time city Law Director, he is also a part-time law director for North Perry, and Asst. Law Director in Mentor-on-the-Lake. Plus he has his own private practice, which Mr. Hada or Mrs. DelaMotte could seek legal services from. Maybe because they feel he would do the best job for them. Now explain your point? As far as him being "Painesvilles Wizard Of Oz" What proof do you have?

Do I understand this right? TERM, are you actually defending Gurley?

I'm not defending anyone or any practice, its just the facts. Mr. Gurley is hired by the CM and she can hire anyone she wants. If you or anyone else thinks the city is getting shortchanged then your going to have to replace the CM and to do that you are going to have to elect council people who don't want to keep her as CM. People that run Painesville are left to do as they wish, we elected them. "Wizard of Painesville" I don't know but he does seem to be the one making the best of this situation.
I would never pay a parttime employee benefits, why doesn't North Perry or Mentor-on-the-Lake pay a percentage?

I'd say he's got a hell of a deal. Gurley has an asst. and a secretary but no office? Does he punch a time clock or does anyone know how much time he puts in? He was a councilman that said the forget this $6000. I want to make real money from Painesville. You live across the street from the city manager to just keep an eye on her, your little brother Joe Hada will follow you around like a puppy.

$70K a year plus benefits..what a joke..and for what? Maybe they should cut Gurley's pay by 2/3..give that to the police prosecutor, Ed Powers..talk about someone who has to earn his money. No money for a secretary..a small office which is filled with reports waiting to reviewed..stop and visit some time if you think I'm bluffing. I heard they have an officer at the police department actually reviewing reports and issuing charges to ease the burden on Ed.. Sorry Ed, I guess maybe you should have bought a house in Painesville Hts on Levan...

Many, not enough, do attend council meetings, but they might as well be watching it from home for all the good it does. You get shut down and humiliated by council, especially the two Joe's. It is an embarrassment to our town the way council acts. Arlene tries to sound like she knows what she's talking about but she doesn't. Hal just like to hear his voice. The Joe's just like to knock mr. citizen on his can. Fountain isn't there even when he is. and Hack just smiles through it all. What a freaking joke!

at least at home I can change the channel.

I prefer to write letters.

now if we decided to have a question & answer session with the school board or city, I would attend.

I hope somebody hosts, meet the candidate this election year.
