"WISHIN AND HOPE 'N, PLANIN N'DOIN'

Now for the most part most of us know the basic facts about the situation about response times to Cobblestone Apartments, Diamond Business Area. The short comings will be worked out about who knew what, when and so on by city council.[I hope]
My question is what should the City of Painesville do? From nothing to building a fire station for less than 1000 people?

Could we give this land back to the Township and make it a JEDD area like we did with Concord.I'm sure the Township would give us the ten dollars we payed for it. Of all the land the city has annexed this area makes no sense.

This area makes no sense because you don't understand annexation laws.

With this land annexed I think we are adjacent to all the land that home Depot, future Walmart, etc. occupies. This means that if they decide they want Painesville's cheap utilities they can petition to be annexed and as long as the County approves it we would then be getting the payroll taxes.

Same question with Giant Eagle on route 20, how soon until they believe they no longer owe allegance to the township for all the breaks the township gave them to build there. If The powers to be at Giant Eagle decided the lower cost of utilities was worth going after they could also petition I think.

My understanding is Home Depot Sam's club are in the city of Mentor and you can't annex land that is already in a city. Giant Eagle is in the township and yes I believe they could ask to be annexed. Comparing utility costs now First Energy, Ohio Water Service, Lake County sewage costs some of these change as we check .

if anyone want's to have annexation process explained, ask mayor JOE HADA to have a meeting,to explain the advantages for the city. a concerned resident.

Mentor is not a city

If there is no City of Mentor what is it? Then show me the State code that says you can annex land from them.

Mentor is not a city? This is part of the reason Painesvilles in the mess its in. We do not respect our neighbors. There is a group Fairport Harbor, Painesville Township, Grand River, that wants to get funding for joint Fire Depatment resources. Where's Painesville? I was to the point of going off when I heard the Painesville Fire Chief say "We do a fair job" Tell that chief we in town pay for an excellent job, and he should resign after he screwed up response times at Cobblestone Apt. Every Councilman should also resign if they knew about this.
Here's something to think about council members if the City Manager lied to "ONE" of you, she lied to ALL of you. Get a backbone folks.

They like thing just the way they are. Not having any responsibility over the city administration. When was the last time a council member brought any legislation to the floor? All they are are yes people for the city manager. Raises ,no street repairs it goes on and on. Until they need money. By Charter council has 17 different items they can do. DO SOMETHING.

Now we're going after the fire chief and the departnent? We are blessed with such a fine chief and excellent firefighters, Why is he getting blamed? Everyone attacks the way the city is run. You should all be ashamed of yourselves Painesville lucky to have these heros.

Do not use the term "hero" so lightly. You evidently don't know the true meaning.

Mentor has an ad in the paper looking for a new City Manager pay scale
$145.000.00

Here is a person that seemed to worry more about his title then the people who trust him for protection. Did he every try to clarify the CM misstatement? Did he every do anything to make the situation better? You my friend have no idea what a "HERO" is. It has a lot to do with self-sacrifice.

Some of the people that post here are pitiful. They attack people in the Administration for every little mistake or percieved wrong doing. I'll bet not one of these people know what it takes to do some of these jobs.

Fire Chief - how many of these people attacking him could stand up to the pressure of knowing every day you go to work a decision you make could cost lives, and you have to live with those decisions, period.

City Manager - How many people attacking the city manager could manage 300 employees, a 90 million dollar budget, 20,000 residents in a County Seat city with 75% of the counties low income residents. Most of the people posting here can't even spell fifth grade words correctly and they feel they are qualified to judge the City Manager? Some of you are so petty, you attack people for mistakes and could never in your wildest dreams come close to doing as well as she does at managing this city.

Council, thats a different story, they are an embarassment to this city and have cost us so many businesses and opportunities. I am still flabergasted that people like Hal Werner, Arlene Becks get elected. Joe Hada talks like the decline of this city is someone elses fault, good god, he has been on council 30+ years, get rid of him already!

With the council we have, the only thing that keeps me in this city is that it is managed by Rita. I almost hope she takes the Mentor job and she can laugh at all of you for the next ten years as we try to find someone even half as qualified as she is.

If the chief can't handle pressure maybe its time to retire before he has something go bad. The chief did nothing to prevent or notify anyone about Cobblestone. Was he in the room in December when the CM made her false statement? Why did he fudge the respose numbers?
What did he do to solve the problem? He collected his check.
The CM got caught in a lie and now is trying to blame everyone but herself. I really hope she applys for that job in Mentor, although pigs will fly before she gets it.
That council is a working council who will check answers, and not tolerate her micro-management style.
Paul Hach, Robert Fountain, Andy Flock and Abbey DelaMotte what exactly have these three brought to the table for Painesville? What in their leadership has been positive this town.

Todays Front Page News Herald Joe Hada said I quote; "I think Painesville took care of ourselves and our people," That's how you'd want somebody to treat your family." Joe what about those people at Cobblestone not our people or family there being treated like s@%$ thanks to you and the CM. You'll probably have to cut them a check someday too.

Make a livable deal with Mentor renewable yearly. then build a fire station down in that area after the overpass is built and the area and Heisley Park are both at least 50% built up.
Join a consortment with Concord, Fairport, Grand River, Painesville Township ro form a fire district with shared assets and manpower.

remember, people,in november you can make a difference!!!!!!!!!!! everything that has been dicussed here lately on the blog site, can be handled. all you have to do is VOTE in nov. stop complaining about the city and what they are not doing for you and your neighbors, open your mouth and vote. your vote CAN make a difference. if you want a change in painesville, vote for a new city council this nov. a future painesville city resident.

I can't wait to see which one of the members of council take credit for things like annexing the land where Cobblestone is located. All their personal votes to raise our water and sewer rates. Getting the money finally for some of the people at Gristmill and Millstone.[after close to 3 years] At no cost to Painesville? Why did the reporter report we took out a 3.5 million dollar loan? The list goes on and on. We need a new beginning with some new blood.
Don't forget I helped to secure the 2 million to tear down the hospital, sometimes I think this is Mayberry on steriods, and without common sense.

Here's something to think about with all the combined years to the city of Joe Hada, Joe Gurley, why don't the neighbors of Painesville not want to help these two out?
Forget about the CM she's in her own little world. Concord Twp. In a press release the main reason for coming to Painesville with the JEDD proposal was that part of the agreement was that Painesville wouldn't annex anymore land from Concord. In the paper it said that Painesville Twp. Grand River, and Fairport were working on a joint fire district, Ask the council president why Painesville City wasn't included?

At May 29, 2009 at 11:36 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Thats easy, the city manager said "Council wants to do their own thing." Good Luck with that folks!

At May 29, 2009 at 7:29 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Without knowing the facts why do you just assume a joint fire district would have been the right thing for us or if we were even asked?

We currently have only one station and it is not very close to make much of an impact for large sections of those other districts.

At May 30, 2009 at 6:49 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I assume we can't take care of our city now maybe together we can provide better response times to some areas. I'd ask the CM but at this point how would you know your getting the truth? We have one station Grand River has one, Fairport has 1 and the township has 3 plus look at a map were in the center. If Concord would get on board with their 2 We then would have 8 statins covering an area. Where was Painesvilles aerial truck at that fire on Oak St.? Maybe if you had 4 or 5 communities working together that rope truck Painesville bought would serve a purpose. Finally maybe all the communitioes could save money.
