"ROLLIN' DOWN THE HIGHWAY"

About a month ago GM announced that they were going to drop the Pontiac Division. Oldsmobile is gone, it hurt a little, sorry never owned one. Plymouth left about two years ago to a baby boomer that hit close to home. GTX, RoadRunners, Cuda's, 340 Dusters, 440 6-paks, 426 Hemi's, They called it the Plymouth Rapid Transit System now all just apart of history.
Pontiac gone? Bonnevilles, Grand Prix's, Firebirds, Trans-Ams, and the Great One Pontiac GTO, or as we called them "goats". If someone told me 40 years ago Pontiac would go the way of the Hudson, Packard, Studebaker, or American Motors I would have thought they were crazy. Its just a sad time automobiles were once the American Freedom Machine, now it seems they are just appliances. Gone are the muscle cars, replaced with $300.00 cars and $2500.00 sound systems, visit the car show downtown on friday nites, because I don't think the cars we drive today will ever be missed, or in a car show. Thanks for the memories GM.

I have a 1994 VW as a current driver. Back in 1987 I owned a 1976 Cadillac Fleetwood(top of the line car) What a piece of sh_t(totally fell apart and rusted) My VW is 15 years old and is 100% better car then the Caddy and will last another 10 years (I hope) No wonder GM is about broke.

Hard to believe the Pontiac division wasn't profitable. Not with all the Grand Prixes and Grand Ams on the road - my God, they're everywhere. Very popular cars. If GM wasn't profiting from Pontiac then they must have been doing something really wrong.

I can see Anonymous doesn't care about our history or anything else than what's in it for him that's he can have now and for cheap. A little childish???

GM, Chrysler, Ford, Apple Pie, Baseball, NFL, Nascar, Rock and Roll to the Blues, Norman Rockwell to John Wayne and the list goes on. These are all American Icons that are part of our history and who we are. We need to know where we came from to know where we are going.

These things are part of us and guess what, part of our economy. We all have stopped caring about this country and looking for someone to blame and look where it has gotten us. We need to start paying attention and start getting involved to make things better.

History, hell with that too..
did you know, it cost the Auto makers around
$7000.00 to make a car and they sell them for $15 - $40,000

Pontiac gone? GM forgot one of its important rules. You can sell an old man a young mans car, but you can't sell a young nan an old mans car. Pontiac buyers won't buy Buicks.
car nut.

Yes they do maddog but for how much longer? I'm finding out just because a product has a well known American name that doesn't mean anything anymore. Example Lionel Electric Trains all produced in China for about 4 years now, I wonder where this will all end?
Where was that towmotor you use built?

People in power want this to go away?, Ha Ha, this site is about 3 dozen people, and none of them have any effect on the people in power.

All this site does is make people feel better because they can complain about stuff they are ignorant about.

I work at Classic on Mentor Ave. and we triple our sales of Pontiacs over Buioks. Maybe GM just wants to commit sucide?

As a younger kid who's owned 2 Pontiacs (both Firebirds) and been raised on a healthy dose of Pontiacs and Oldsmobiles, it does hurt.

The comments about "no wonder GM is going broke" are hardly relevant when you compare a '76 Caddy to a newer VW. Technology changes a lot over 5 years, let alone 10 or more.

Pontiac just turned the corner with interesting and relatively efficient cars like the G8 and the Solstice. And whaddya know, some of the first cars Pontiac has come out with in a long time that don't share a whole lot of architecture with other GM stablemates!

I hope someone buys the Pontiac name like the Hummer name has been bought, and makes something out of it. Pontiac is still relevant.
