"COUNCILMAN ANDREW FLOCK WARD 1"

Seems in the last post "Recession What Recession?" Andy seems to have picked up a few critics. First off I must disclose that I consider Andy and his wife Marge, to be two of my best friends, these are good people.
What will be Andys legacy as a member of Painesville City Council? Well for one Andy answers inquires from all resident in the city, not just ward 1. He started holding "Town Hall Meetings" once a month because he felt most residents felt intimadated or were not being heard in 3 minutes at ciy hall, his meeting have better attendance then any city council meeting, people can ask questions and he will get them the answers in a timely manner from city hall. He explains his votes to anyone who asks, along taking their views into account.
Andys of all the council people was the only one of 7 that voted against the 3.9Charter Amendment, after consideration Ms. Becks also was against it. The vote? 82% of voters voted against the change, now were the other 5 council people in touch with the will of the voters? One person claimed there were more vote yes signs than actual votes for the charter change.
It appears to me that some on council view council as "ceremomial" position, come to a meeting twice a month vote "yes" hand out a plaque now in then and listen to afew complaints. The residents want more then that and expecting more.
Wait until someone in ward 1 figures it out and runs against him? Be careful of what you wish for The only people in the northend of town who dislike Andy are people that dispise others on council and the administration more than him.
Has Andy made mistakes? Sure he has, The sad thing is I believe he has lost trust in the present administration.
Please let me know of what you want out of your councilperson?

We would all me better off if we had 7 Andys on council. I am glad that at least 3 council people are finally asking question. The people in ward 1 get alot more attention then the other wards. Its nice to see more 4-3 votes.

Please. What has he done positive for this city? So he voted against one charter amendment. Big deal. When has he shown initiative to get something done? I'll open it up further. When has he tried to get something pushed through and gotten rejected? Voting "no" on things isn't progress. It might be right in some instances but it doesn't bring anything new to the table. He strikes me as the guy that reviews what other people does and votes whether he thinks its a good idea. He may be right, he may vote against some stupid things the administration wants to do. BUT there is a whole other task he is charged with as a councilman. He should be working to push positive things through that he comes up with. Its easy to sit and judge but the people of painesville don't want someone to sit and judge. They want someone to sit and judge AND work for them and change things for the better. He is a bump on a log.

Andy Flock, is worthless as a councilman.

He does not give equal time to all ward 1 people, we know that for sure.

When was there a 4 to 3 vote ?
And how many more have there been ?

"Whats so great about Joe, Abbey, Paul, and Bob, I guess silence is golden?"

So it makes flock a better councilman if you tear down other council people?
This looks like a person who doesn't actually have anything positive to say about flock to respond to the above post. Nice try at changing the subject. To redirect, What has Flock done that is actually a active step to create something positive for the citizens of Painesville?

Not to detract fromt he question above, I do give him credit for holding townhall meetings. I don't know what he accomplishes but creating this venue is a plus for him.

Again, what work has he done to change things for the better?

Ok good disclosure. I think it tells us where this topic is going. Maybe there might be unbiased readers of the blog who can comment, but some opinions should be put in perspective and taken with a grain of salt.

come to a meeting twice a month vote "yes"

You write this like it is always a bad thing. Sure sometimes a yes vote might be bad, but a yes vote can be a wonderful thing if it is for a project to help the city. Even Flock votes yes sometimes. For people who might watch council meetings on tv, if you see someone vote yes, consider the topic before making a judgment. A "yes" vote is not always an evil thing as Term might have you believe.

The only people? I live on the northend and I think in his ward and I do not carry that view at all. Look for me in the next election. You will see me in the vote tally for whomever runs against him.

Please let me know of what you want out of your councilperson?

I want someone to work actively and positively to achieve something for the city, not just sit and find a way to complain even when unwarranted.

A yes vote may not always be a bad thing? when have you ever seen the 4 to the left of the city mansger vote no?

If you lived in apart of town where it may take the citys fire department over 12 minutes to get to your home wouldn't you want to know about it?

"A yes vote may not always be a bad thing? when have you ever seen the 4 to the left of the city [mansger] vote no?"

So what are you saying? Every yes vote is a bad? So what if someone votes yes if the vote is to do something positive for the city. "Don't vote yes on that mr. councilman, you might get labeled a "yesman". I don't care if it makes my city better, don't do it." Your argument is illogical. The greater crime is either doing nothing or voting no on something that would have the people of Painesville. Thank god someone is out there trying to do some good and I'm glad they can overcome you to do it.

"If you lived in apart of town where it may take the citys fire department over 12 minutes to get to your home wouldn't you want to know about it?"

I don't get it. I take it he told you that it takes them a while to get to your house. Congratulations, you are now the keeper of a conversational gem that will help you berate the city. But did he propose anything to shorten that time period? You and him and most posters on this site are great at complaining but never have a good idea to change something for the positive. I would want my councilman to actively try to change things for the better for me. Do you or him have any such proposal?

The Painesville hospital is not virus proof. To many patients leave with infection they get from the hospital! Why is this happening?

Are you saying never say no? Do you think the AMP-OHIO deal is a smart move? No cotro on costs why would anyone agree to this ,a builders agrees to build you a house but signing his agreemernt makes you obligated no matter what the final cost? Congradulations? Council was not told the truth about fire protection to Cobblestone Apt. Call te city manager and ask her to seed a copy of the agreement with Grand River? Grand River needs Painesville Township to cover there station with P.T.F.D. personel. There isn't one so why pretend there is? Sorry the best thing to do is replace the present administration, and I feel there are more reasons coming forward.

Andy Flock is the only person on city council I trust. Hes not on council to want to build a mountain in his back yard, he doesnt need the money, hes not looking for awards and T.V. exposer or getting his spouse business, and he knows the city will servive without him or his wife!

Someone in a post on this sight complained that we have way too plans and never used them.

Maybe we should expect that our Council actually takes our Comprehensive plan and makes the suggested items in it happen. That plan was drawn up using responses from the residents of this city. My expectations are that a council person should be using that almost as a bible.

I expect a council that is intelligent enough to realize that the city Administration has done enough planning in the general areas, recreation, youth, downtown, etc. that all they need to do as a council person is read the plans and suggest and vote on legislation that supports those plans.

I expect a council that has a well rounded development in the area of business experience and leadership so that I have some level of confidence that they can make decisions that are good for the future of Painesville.

I expect someone who can actually "get things done".

What has the present council manage to get done? The JEDD for 1 the amp-ohio coal plant, air-foil. Amazingly none of these items\ were in the comprehensive Plan. All the plans are fluff, Recently someone showed me the minutes to the finance committee meeting, I've seen comic strips longer and with more detail.

Term you have given Andys critics
a chance to ANONYMOUSLY go after him, lets do another council person and see how they fair? To the person who wants to run against Andy, You will have to put your name on the ballot you know?

I think I have made a mistake by leting "anonymous" take shots at Mr. Flock. Nothing constructive came out of it, or did it? Maybe if you had criticisms with one you want to share with a councilperson you would tell them to their face.
Facts are one thing bashing someone is something else. For one I could not understand what infections at the hospital had to do with council but everyone gets heard.
I always felt Councilman Flock acted as the conscience of council, anyone can ask the easy questions, sometimes someone has to ask some hard ones. "Why are we going to do this?"

"Why are we going to do this?" Maybe its in the best interest of Painesville. Town Hall meeting enjoy yourself, I think most council people have a better way to spend a Thursday night. What questions do the residents need answered?

For the record I have censored a comment with no profanity, but made a remark about a council members spouse, and the reason something is done. I will not let people try to distroy this blog. with crude comments {JT. might have the right idea] I removed a spam message last week and got slammed for it, to bad .

Anglo,
This blog is distroyed due to your censorship, people do not post for that reason.

It would be great to have an uncensored site but then one would have to sit on this site all day weeding out the foul language and spam.

This is the only intelligent way to keep the blog open. Term could set it up so everyone had to become a member and have a name but he didn't.

You can still sit out there and hide behind your Anonymous moniker and say pretty much what you want and Term posts it. The only think his is weeding out is the foul mouthed bloggers who have trouble expressing themselves with the English language.

I think everyone on here would defend freedom of speech but one must use there head!

I am an adult and really the foul language doesn't bother me as much as trying to follow a thread and finding out 75% of the people on here just can't post about the subject the thread started out as.

The thing that bothers me second most is realizing when I read the posts how poorly our Painesville adults do at spelling and using the correct words/grammar.

Thirdly would be foul language, but anyone offended by that so much that it "ruins" this site for them should grow a little thicker skin.

So you want better grammar in your foul language? All I can tell you is my posts are far from perfect I know it. I will try [harderer] in the future. Send me your e-mail and I will be glad to share some of the vile comments I get its a little stronger than just foul.
