MONDAY COUNCIL MEETING 12/01/08

Interesting Council Meeting Monday. Some very interesting question about the budget and what the city is doing with the economy the way it is. I hope all councilpeople and residents ask afew questions and council just not "rubberstamp" it.
If you borrow 9 million dollars is it an asset or liability? A note is a loan and so is a bond that you issue.

For all you people that go to council and ask questions at random about a 80 million dollar budget and then complain because you get a "rubber stamp" answer. Who in this world do you think could memorize a budget like that and give an answer off the cuff?

Why don't you email them the question ahead of time and let them know you will be asking it at council, they might be able to research it and give you a good answer.

Or do you just get enjoyment out of making yourself look "vigilant" at their expense?

Here is an idea, since council is the group that approves a budget how about all of you that voted for the Hal Werner's, Arlene Becks, Andy Flocks of the council ask THEM your questions about the budget.

How about you test your council people for a change instead of getting such glee out of embarassing our city manager.

I'll bet all those wonderful council people have no clue what they approved, in fact I'll bet over half of our council doesn't even understand how a budget like that works.

As a resident who writes an occasional note to council folks and the city manager I have to tell you my emails have been answered by city manager McMahon and Arlene Becks. Mr. Flock usually calls and I have had a couple responses from Paul Hach saying he'd "look into it" but I never hear back......... at least he acknowledges I am a resident. The rest of council I rarely if ever hear from.

I have tested my council people and I vote and I didn't vote for Werner, Flock or Becks..........

Evrytine I cross the bridge on Richmond St. going into Fairport I look under the bridge by Windjammers Court at the 16 acres of water and swampland the city purchased over three years ago for $250,000 and now I wonder what the cash could have purchased for the people of Painesville? maybe salt.
The 3.9 Charter change, That failed the city added payroll even in the loss.
AMP-OHIO Coal Plant that will bankrupt this city if we sign-up 2.9billion to 3.3billion and we haven't put a shovel in the ground yet.
Three examples why council must hold the administration accountable, need more , I got them.
Council should be more "vigilant." I wouldn't have to point this stuff out, right?

“…for $250,000 and now I wonder what the cash could have purchased for the people of Painesville?”
This question has been asked and answered. Stop trying to mislead people.

“AMP-OHIO Coal Plant that will bankrupt this city”
I bet it won’t. We will see, but when you are determined to be wrong, will you admit it publically or just pretend like you never made this claim?

“From the council president to his right rubberstamps everything and hardly ever asks a question .” --maybe they keep themselves informed and ask questions prior to the meeeting so they are not clueless when it comes time for a vote...

The $250,000 has not been answered. I was told the County would redirect the money. Sorry thats not a fact. That money to buy that land came out of the general fund, then we even took out a loan to pay for it. Something sticks about that whole deal. Councilman Horvath even stated to me "We had to buy that land" Why its a waste of money.
AMP-Ohio will never bring that power plant to operation. Its a pipe dream.
What about the Charter change the city seems to be doing quite well without that revenue, right?
I don't know about a rubberstamp thats not my post, but tonight I will count everytime someone looks at their watch or clock, where's everyone going?

Councilman Horvath? Going back a little ways here, he is not even on council. Maybe you need to update your question. Ask his replacement - Ha. Or someone who knows something. Ask it again and maybe you can become enlightened.

Ok so like I said, if you are wrong about the amp-ohio thing, will you admit it publically or just pretend like you never made this claim?

Maybe you should stop counting when people look at their watches and listen to what they say so you don't have to repeat these lame old issues.

I can't believe you guys are bringing up AMP plant again and making it sound like we pay 3.9 billion even if it isn't built.

How many meetings must Term sit through before he understands that project is structured to pay for itself by the power it sells.

All you people that think I'm wrong about the AMP-OHIO Plant in Meigs County tell me exactly how much were on the hook for if construction starts? If I'm wrong about the plant I'll eat my words, but look into it please. Its a bad deal. No cobblestone should be left unturned?

I don't think you will eat your words. I think you will pretend it didn't happen. You only post when you irrationally think others are wrong but never post when you are actually wrong.

Now as the pattern continues for those of you who follow this site. Term will get not let this post until he has the chance to review it and get the last word and then he will say it is for censorship reasons. Is this fox news where the moderator who is obviously biased always gets the last word? Are you scared to let people form their own opinion?

Way to go term, now you cant answer your own site without being compaired to fox news. Who are you Sean.or Bill?
and just what didnt happen.

Sit at home - play your computer games - do not go to meetings to hear legislation first-hand,do not watch channel 12 (as bad as it is)listen to the messed-up knowledge of your representatives/News-Herald because they do not receive the info in time to vote (thanks to the city Managers agenda those advisement folders will only be received on Friday - which cuts the reading time down to nothing) and yet you have the unmitigated gall and nerve to insult others that have the forthright to go to a meeting and interpret (what those cannot because of the time frame) the Actual statements/legislature/votes so you can understand what is happening in this city.
As I see all of these posts, the majority of you cannot even spell a word nor write a complete sentence.

If you cannot do simple English, how in the heck can you possiby state any comments that make any sense? How can you belittle others that go the extra mile to provide information; when none of you go and find out the facts as they are?

Your comments/insults are Moot. In the legal terms, this means that they hold no water and they are negated: they do not exist at all.

Thanks, term doesn't know what hes talking about most of the time. Just wants to show Painesville in a negative light.
