FINANCIAL MELTDOWN AFFECTS CITY.
If things are not bad enough watch the City Council Meeting on Ch. 12 tonight and see how the termoil has affected city finances. We ae having trouble selling our bonds, and to my surprise we have investments in Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac. Grab a seat and hold on.

Does anyone think they will evaluate our homes for current fair market value and our taxes will go down?
Who gets laid off first and where do you think they will start cutting the fat?
Why did so many see this coming, including the average taxpayer but those that steer the city never saw it coming?
Ask any construction guy out there and most saw this coming 20 years ago........... and took precautions.

Who doesn't have investments in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? We should they be glad they put their investments in companies that are too big to fail. Could have put them with Lehman Brothers or others that have been allowed to fail. These days it does not matter where you put your investments, all are losing money. We may be in for a rough ride but this is the state of our economy. Don't blame the city or anyone except the sleazy mortgages salesman who pushed bad mortgages on people who couldn't afford them. And in some cases causing these poor often elderly people to commit suicide over it when the sheriff is trying to evict them. This all makes the presidential and congressional elections that much more important.
I had them in some of the companies mentioned. I wonder who bright idea to leave the money there? I didn't.
Mr. Rellik
Whos watching the investments anyway?
KAREN
Term is
Karen, you are on the list, your comments don't count.
KAREN, being on the list is a good thing. Don't forget to pick-up your T-shirt at any downtown clothing store.
Anonymous, I am so sick of your constant attack on Karen that her comments don't count. She is invited here and we listen to her. You are an unwanted interloper. You are not wanted nor do I pay attention to any comment you make.
Karen comments and her comments are read. Nobody can be and unwanted interloper when you put something on the internet for the entire world to read and comment. You want participation on the site but you don't want whomever that guy is. If I don't read back real far into the past posts, I'll never understand this whole list thing. It is kind of like an inside joke. To me I find it annoying because I would rather this person try to discredit her every time she posts than just make a blanket statement. I understand though that he is saying that she lost his respect a long time ago and that he doesn't put any weight in what she says. And reading her posts there is more than enough reasons for him to take this stance. (I say him but it could be a female, I don't know) I think it is clear some people have their opinions and don't listen to others but that need not stop the discussions. I however would encourage all to have an open mind. Be open and realistic that the city is not always right, but ALSO know that the city is not always wrong. There are people who assume that they are right and others that assume they are wrong on all matters and neither side is correct.
I would only suggest people explain there posts better. Inside jokes don't help draw in new blog participants. By all means oppose people's opinion in healthy discussion or ignore them but don't call anyone unwanted.
Karen thinks the city is always wrong, that is why she and others are on the list, and belive me there is more then one poster who knows this.
And the him/her is right,
one is and one might not be.
