RAMBLINS'

Did you ever notice the people in line at the store with W.I.C. or with Food Stamp cards are better dressed than you? Get into nicer vehicles than you? One woman stated to her friend she was on her way to get a pedicure. most don't speak English.
People think I want to hear their chose in music 3 blocks away? They get out of their cars with it shut off, but the sound system stays on.Then go into a store where they can't hear it, than look at me like I'm nuts for asking them why they left it on.
Where did all the butterflies go? When I was a kid they were everywhere now zilch.
People that use the emergency room like a doctor's office. Then tell the nurse "no compranday english". Well Pedro how did you sign to get that Ford F150 with the custom rims?
People with Harleys that want me to know at 1:00a.m. they don't have to go to work in the morning.
You walk into a store and you realize your the only one that speaks english? Why are they pointing at me.
Someone on Section 8 can't afford rent, but have $150.00 Nikes?
AND will someone please tell these boys to buy the right size pants.and PULL THEM UP!

Hey,
How come we get $150.00 fines for loud music in our cars but that old man can drive around with his truck and play his Caliophe ?

Terminator, you are right about so many things. I was in Convenient the other day behind a young couple with 3 kids under the age of 5 and the mother was ready to pop out another one. Neither spoke English but they had 3 shopping carts full of meats, milk, eggs, etc. and didn't pay one cent. Their bill came to $250.00. They paid with food stamps and the cashier said they had $847 left. How the hell much do they get a month. Sure they can keep having children when they're not paying for them or any other expenses. Housing assistance, free medical, free food (and lots of it), special financing for homes & cars, etc. And guess who's paying their bills? You and I. How do they even qualify for assistance? HELP!

At July 5, 2008 at 8:53 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

In the paper a spokesperson from Jobs and Family Services said that only citizens can get assistance. So tell me, JFS spokesperson, how can someone who doesn't speak any English be a citizen? Don't you have to pass tests to become a citizen? Learn the language? This stinks. I am struggling to put food on my kids' table and these people have it handed to them. It is about time that American citizens speak up. It is about time that Painesville citizens take back their city.

Anonymous, that old man is a citizen and has paid his way through life. He is bringing joy to many of us. He has earned this pleasure. And I would like to see how many of the people playing music so loud in their cars are actually getting tickets. Not many I guess. And I too am sick of listening to these people's music so loud from blocks away in their houses. I don't make them listen to my music, I shouldn't have to listen to theirs. There are ordinances but the city has selective enforcement.

can't believe everybody is talking about loud music when I had the pleasure of leaving town on Rt 84 yesterday. Glad I don't live across from that mess.............. Thank you Anthony Allega and thanks Union Sand for selling that nice family run business to the Allega family......... talked about a scorched earth policy!

so anybody on that side of town care to estimate how much your house and land have been devalued?

At July 6, 2008 at 7:31 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

You do know that all of that mess around the old Union Sand, is becuse they are re-locating rt.86 to come in to rt.84 there.

I'm a citizen and I have earned the pleasure not to listen to all that music and that must include the Caliophe, becuse that is the law.

I have earned the pleasure to play my radio too, how do I do that, so I don't get a ticket like that guy.

This city has many problems that other communities don't have. As the county seat we are the home of a lot of county buildings with programs available to low-income families. So in turn Painesville attracts people who use this services. Honestly - this is not the city's fault. The city just has to deal with it. This is why Mentor and other Lake county cities would never contest Painesville for the county seat.
As a single parent who goes to work every day and refuses to ask for help from anyone - I know the confusion that is felt when you are standing next to a person who is driving a 2008 Ford Expedition (like the one the Painesville police got this year) with 22' rims, nails done, five-six kids by their side, two hundred dollar shoes on the parents and children, and then they pull out the WIC booklet or the food card. How do these people have pride. When did it become alright for people like all of us (city officals & city residents) to pay their way?
But remember just because someone looks different doesn't automatically make them a government program abuser. My son is bi-cultured and I have been pointed out in stores in near-by communities as a welfare mom. As a respectful person I have turned around and let the people talking about me know... I'm the same as you. I pay my bills without any help from anyone, I put food in my child's stomach without help, I pay my daycare without any discounts or help, and I pay my health insurance without help. Just because my child's skin is not pearlly white doesn't mean I don't bust my ass every day to provide for my family.

Something to remember if a child is born here he or she becomes a legal citizen by birth. This is what is known as an "anchor child."

I Think if you call the Police about the man and his truck, they have to give him a ticket

At July 6, 2008 at 1:41 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

The laws of the United States do not require one to speak English to be a citizen. If a child is born here, it is a citizen, thus the parents would get government subsidies to support that citizen. Obviously a 2 year old child can't get its own food card.

As to the music, I got a disordely conduct ticket last year. It was a saturday night on a holiday weekend, and we were playing Bob Seger out in my yard. The police came, and even though they admitted it wasn't very loud, since "someone complained, we have to make you stop." That is bogus. Just because someone complains, it doesn't make it against the ordinances. They couldn't nail me on the actual city ordinance, which requires the sound to be measured using a meter a certain distance from the property line because they don't have the proper equipment, and they knew it wasn't too loud. So they gave me a disorderly conduct ticket that cost me $100. I thought about fighting it, but it would have cost me more in my time than $100.

The hispanics are not the problem in Painesville, the City administration is the problem, that is why I no longer live there.

so you like it better where you live now? Just wondering as we are deciding to put the sign in the front yard this weekend and have gone back and forth.

At July 6, 2008 at 2:51 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I doubt that you did hear it. My point was that it wasn't loud. The police couldn't even hear it in the street. When houses are on lots less than .25 acres, you are going to hear more than just music from your neighbor. That's a fact of city living. I don't want to hear trains. I don't want to hear sirens. I don't want to hear cars. I don't want to hear people talking, but I can't just call the police and have them ticket someone because I don't like it.

It is so much better where I live now. I know I made the right decision in the spring when the weather broke. Usually that was the time in Painesville when every idiot would be out hooting and hollering and rocking my house with their car stereo, and I didn't hear a thing except birds chirping.

At July 6, 2008 at 2:54 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Well, I'm part of the problem, as I still have a rental there. I'm trying to sell it though.

Hey did anybody see the article in the PD today about the couple in California coming to Cleveland to buy up all the foreclosed homes? They are buying them in bundles from the bank for as little as $1,000 for a duplex. The pay the back taxes, un-board it, put a hotwater tank, plumbing and a few other things in the middle of the floor which you must hook yourself. They hold the mortgage paper and sell it for $500 down and $300 a month for 15 years. They are sold as a handyman special. Interesting article and think we should invite this couple to P'vle!
We a couple creative thinkers here!

Anonymous, I know the anchor baby law. Ridiculous as it is, that is the law until we get our elected officials to change it. That entitles the baby to be a citizen and eligible for WIC. WIC does not give $1,000 a month. It only covers children 5 and under and pregnant women. Again, that wouldn't be $1,000 a month. So this family was getting regular food stamps. And yes, to become a citizen you need to speak English and take an exam in English.

Selective enforcement is the norm in Painesville. I have called on my illegal neighbors for loud music so many times I can't count, and they have never been issued a citation. They have been told to turn it down, which they do, only until the police are gone and then it goes up again. I'm not talking about the normal noise from houses being close. I am talking about my windows shaking. You can hear the music inside my house with windows closed louder than my TV. Selective enforcement! That is why Painesville is a sanctuary city. City officials, wise up or you are going to have a city full of non taxpaying, lawbreaking illegals. You want them instead of me?

I agree with the last anonymous. I have had similar experience. Selective enforcement is a good way to describe it. If you are a law abiding citizen and happen to break an ordinance, you get cited first time. But the mexicans are allowed to be repeat offenders. Just pat them on the back and tell them "welcome to Painesville".

Painesville Township stopped Osborne from the same practice on Blackbrook Rd. Why didnt Painesville stop Allega?

At July 7, 2008 at 5:35 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

By the way, Union Sand did not sell to Allega. They refused to do so. They sold to Osborn, who then sold it to Allega. So you have Osborn to thank for this fiasco.

Yes, that "anchor baby law" is called the US Constitution.

At July 9, 2008 at 5:45 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

No, the anchor baby law was put into effect long after the Constitution. It was put in place to help the children of slaves. Now it has been bastardized to benefit those that illegally sneak into this country. The more anchor babies they pop out the better chance that we won't deport them.

Yes, Dwight Eisenhower and "Operation Wetback". We were able to deport millions of illegals back to Mexico in 1954. If we could do it then, we certainly can do it now.
Here's to "Operation Wetback 2008"!
