GRISTMILL MILLSTONE

I have removed the blog. comment about the dispute about the amount of insurance the Condo Association had. I cannot find any proof that this was done. A city resident also commented that the illegal immigration problem was a federal problem and was the main reason that city officals did not pursue the problem. Well he also stated natural disasters were a federal problem thats why we had departments like FEMA. No city should be involved in the people recouping their loses at the expense or cost to the city. Its seems we can pick and choose what we get involved with.

Someone should ask why the city didnt include the other people flooded out on Main St. What kind of support other than FEMA grants did they get from the managment? Somethings not right here.
We were told no city money would be used. What about the County Block Grant Money? Dont tell people no Painesville money was used.

FEMA money was good enough for everyone else but not for the Condos? I guess Mr. Gibbs has more pull around here than most.
Please tell us the truth.

Someone please explain how a Waste
Treatment Plant loan has anything to do with people getting a settlement for flooding. I'm new to the site and more than a little confused.
I read the article in the News-Herald about sewer rate increases and this was never mentioned.

Letter to the Editor in today's ews-Herald was so much misinformation I wonder why it is allowed. 8 million dollars we were only taking about 1 million! Cry all you want the city coffers are not responsible for your loss. What will the city loss in property taxes if that land becomes a unused piece of land? Before this is done I hope it is tied up for along time. Key word INSURANCE.

I have heard alot of accusations about the amount of insurance carried by Milstone and Gristmill. Will someone come forward and tell the residents of Painesville how much insurance was on that property. Was it not available was it only $300,000.00 and why. The key word FACTS! TERM>>

The City Administration should hold a forum and explain where all this money comes from, how its divided up. All questions should be answered. I want the people given a fair deal but not at an reasonable cost to the city. I understand there have been some lawsuits started explain them also.
Thank-You

Sorry, Not everything has been explained. If they have the post just above you would not have been asked. If you know those answers please post them , myself, most of the citizens in town, and probably a few councilpeople would like to know.
Thank-You
A parting thought most things go back to nature when they die. Is this town on its death bed?

That area should not have been built on, and the sooner they pay off those people, and raze the buildings the better, if the President of the Landlord association had not brought up how that land should not be locked out of future development, this would be over with, they don't care if a park can't be put there, they just want more apartments there.

At July 10, 2008 at 2:27 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

That area shouldnt have been built on? What about all the other homeowners down there? That area should not have been built on says who? Theres going to be alot of Park land in Iowa then. That area could flood Friday or in another 500 years. No one knows. If they shouldnt have been built, than they shouldnt have been bought, right? Again I must bail an idiot out.

If the city did not jump in and get help for these people, that place would be just like you see it, they did not have enough insurance or money to repair there places, as far as the other homes down there they knew they were building in the lowlands and there was a chance of flooding, they were there a long time before any apartments were built, the builder of the apartments was at fault for changing the way the river would flood, 1) he knocked down the dam 2) he built a wall along the river those thing have lead to the way the river floods in that area.
Please let's get rid of the mess down there, and get on with our lives, all of the complaining in the world will not change the fact that nothing will change down there if the city does not finish what they started.

The city can jump in and help but this fiance deal just stinks.I truly feel bad for the people down there but the city managers way ,sorry is wrong.I even wonder if its legal. What you want to avoid is in 20 years someone asking why they did something so stupid. That water was going to flod that development no matter what. So do we turn our backs on prime Painesville land just to take the easy way out?

At July 11, 2008 at 4:02 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

It is not prime Painesville land.
It is a flood plain.
Please don't put anything there it will just be destroyed, when the river floods next time.

If its in a flood plain then EVERYONE down there should be getting that money not just the selfish people who didnt buy flood insurance and now want to make everyone responsible for their loss....

Mr Gibbs is the problem,
There was no flooding before he built down there,
and if there was the other people should have moved out, he destroyed the river when he knocked down the dam illegally

At July 12, 2008 at 11:02 AM , Blogger Sandy Miller said...

The dam would have been removed with Gibbs or without. Duck Unlimited sued the State of Ohio many years back to remove dams in the state of Ohio as it blocked certain fish species from their natural spawning grounds. That said........ it also let the lamprey eel move up stream as I find them up around Indian Point frequently.

I don't get it?
People purchased condo's, in a flood plain.
1. They did not insure their property or it was under insured.
Correct?
2. There is some dispute over who should have carried the insurance, the condo association or the individual. Correct?
3. Under normal circumstances, if you have a mortgage, the mortgage holder knows if you do or do not have insurance. Our insurance is in escrow so when it's due the money is there & it gets paid.
Same as a car loan the bank will put insurance on if you don't. Their property is covered because they hold the title until it's paid for then you are responsible for insurance. If you have an accident then it's your fault. Your loss. Correct?
Seems someone dropped the ball and the city is getting the blame.
Typical, no one wants to accept responsibility for their mistakes. Then everbody asks what's wrong with todays children-where do they get it from.

Joe Hada just wants the problem to go away as easy as possible. The question to ask is 1.2 million a fair price for that land? This week sometime I will look up the property values [Just the Land] on all that acreage down there on the county site to see what its worth. Remember council bought 16 acres by Richmond St. Grand River bridge for $250,000 a few years ago.

We can't leave, the city stoped us from repairing our homes, we are renting,
and we went into foreclosure we had to file bankruptcy to stop the foreclosure.
We have been kicked to the curb.
I bet you would be the biggest winer if this happend to you.

At July 15, 2008 at 7:39 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Can we be civil, "PLEASE". You can't tell people
"we will shut people like you down". these condo owners are not beggars either. I believe this can all be resolved with all of us using our heads. No one wants to screw the people in the condos. but alot of people don't want that land unused forever, and have it tied to the sewer plant repairs Could the city take out a loan or a bond for the 1.2million for a couple years to see if a resposible developer wants to do a project down there the right way. Riverfront property is prime land. If they build something above the flood plain everyone will be a winner. The city would recoupe the loan money and collect property, and maybe income tax forever.
Lets just look before we leap. TERM>>

It's way to late! I lost my home!!! There is nothing for me. My credit has been ruined, I cannot buy a new home, I have been disallowed by the city from repairing the place I called home. Our mortgage companies and banks want thier money. Can you afford a house payment and rent, so you have a place to live? Have you seen gas prices. If I recieve enough money to pay off the bank and sit at zero, I would consider that a win. If you know how to afford two payments, plus the car payments (replacing the cars that were paid off, also taken by th water,) plus everything that I had to spend to buy things like clothes, food, a couch, a place to call home, when I already had a home, that was filled with water and who knows what else. I need to know, so that I can sleep at night not wondering who is going to ask me to wait and see if the city of Painesville can do something with the land.

At July 16, 2008 at 5:04 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

No one s asking you or anyone else to wait. All the financing seem to be inplace except the 1.2million from the sewer plant loan. The city should come up with that money in a normal manner and let all of you people move on with your lives. All that Mr. Tibetts suggested is that land down there should not be subjected to the finality the city manager proposes. What he proposes is there be another option. I attended a meeting at the sewer treatment plant and I have more than five people being told by the city manager say that loan money goes into the general fund? Please what is it, tell me.I repeat no city resident wants you to suffer anymore. TO THE BLOGGER WHO USED TO HAVE A HOME. THATS WHY WE HAVE INSURANCE. SOME PEOPLE TAHE CARE OF THEIR OWN LIVES AND SOME PEOPLE DEPEND ON OTHERS FOR HANDOUTS. SIGNED, A TRUE AMERICAN.

At July 17, 2008 at 7:45 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Oh you of so little information. Because of the special case of this being multi family, multi owner condos, Painesville and FEMA have encountered a new entity in this process. Those of us who had Flood insurance can not receive a dime form the insurance company until FEMA and painesville figure out what money they are putting forth. We cannot be paid twice for the loss, only once. This then comes to how much for whom, and from where. People in Gristmill and Millstone that had flood insurance, have not received money, they have not been allowed to move back in and rebuild. Those who were told extra flood insurance was not needed, have not received any money, have not been allowed to rebuild. Every one of us in this situation is a true and honest american and has been through Hell, how do you get off being holier than thou? I'm not looking for a handout, I was one of the first who wanted to rebuild my home! I was told I could not, because the city of painesville and The state of Ohio and the federal emergency management agency, said we could only live there if we raise our condos, anywhere form two to six feet to be above the flood plain. Can you afford to lift your home, Insurance, home owners or flood will not cover that project. Maybe painesville can use all the money to assist in that project, then I can rebuild my home, like the other people that have single living homes in that area were alowed to do. Tell me I'm not an American, Shows me what kind of a real person you are!

It is not FEMA money that won't allow re-using the land down there, you have no ideal what is going on.

It is other Federal money

Some do not want to be civil?
First Mr. Tibetts is a private citizen who's only concern is what is good for the City. I do not know him well but he truly seems to want to do whats best in town. He and alot of other people have a large financial investment in town and would like to see it grow. That said eveytime someone has a view or a different idea we should not speak disparaging about them,or tell them to leave. Thats probably one of the biggest problems here, so many have said "The Hell with it." and left we need more people like him not less. The people in the condos. down there are in a ruff spot and I am sure they will not get kicked to the curb. Come to the Council Meeting Monday with FACTS. I know for a fact FEMA money has been used to rebuild flooded areas. Do not believe everything you are told. Trust but verify.

When you are observed for who you are, and the driver of the patrol car is also known who they are:

How can you possibly (anonymous) state that what happened is a LIE?

It is a proven fact that those who base their lives on lies, lie again and again and again! The lies become so easy that it becomes their common conversations.Eventually the hanging rope will trap.

What is also turbulent is when the liars take their orders (because they are complacent/lazy) from an individual that has absolutely no knowledge (other than high dollar outside sources)of any positive direction; other than the push from an individual from the Oxbo Group in Painesville. Gee, I wonder what the name is and how long ago/and the push is here again and agin and again. How many visits (tagged as consultations) will satisfy?

Is there anyone out there that can solve this long standing puzzle?

There are many of us that can, we are just waiting for the right moment.

On a personal note I can not believe anyone would do something this stupid.
The councilperson should be recalled.

The Police Chief put on notice for a car being use in this manner.

Somebody step up to the plate and give everybody some answers here.

Research the past - listen to the current directions from an individual that has absolutely no education on the direction of a city/village/township. Look at the $$$ records to see how many consultants have been hired.

Look to Oxbo in the Ville and find J.S. - the past is now current reality.

Keep up the awesome work, citizens of this ill-fated city!!!

When you are doing this work, please just remember that the facts are the TRUTH and you must obtain the facts and true justification of the acts of this council. DO NOT just believe their "we will consider or research the problem." Press-on and demand answers in a TIME-FRAME.

Wish all of you well!!!!!!
