GETTING YOUR MONEYS WORTH........

Alot of the posts seem to think the citizens are being shortchanged by the Painesville City Administration. One caught my attention. "We pay Saks 5th. Ave. prices for Family Dollar merchandise." That raises the question are we being served, by the people at the top? The overall pay package for the mamager and her assistant is over $210,000. In contrast the mayor of Willoughby makes $85,000 a year without an assistant. I agree it's hard to compare apples to oranges, but whats the consensus?

This is a "no brainer" NO we dont get our moneys worth. Anyone with half a brain could do a better job than the present city manager. What are her successes? and what are her failures? We need a list.

any chance we could get the Mayor of Willoughby to jump ship to Painesville? We could double his salary and still be ahead of the game............

could we slip him a couple bucks to mentor the City Manager????

I wonder if a candidate for council would run a campaign on cleaning house at city hall. How would that go over? I see a lot of negative comments on how things are run.

The city manager doesnt have to do anything but keep 4 people happy.
Hada, Hach, Fountain, and Delamontte and she can keep that job for as long as she wants it. So if you get rid of a couple at the next election maybe you can hire a qualified person.

Please, Horvath was no gem, and all he did was whatever Rita told him. It was pathetic watching him on T.V.
All he ever told us was "My hands are tied!" Now he has all the free time in the world, to do whatever with his hands.

The present leadership is so out of touch with the people, and the poor souls dont even know it. They must have blinders on.

Nasty anonymous,
We do care about Painesville. Obviously more than you if you are willing to let things go on like this until there is no Painesville left. So don't insult us by saying we don't care. Don't waste your time and ours by reading the blog and complaining about us. Spend your time instead by going out into the community and do some community service. You are doing no service here.

One way the city and residents could get their money's worth is to start a city wide composting program.

After spending a day taking down two pine trees I thought I would call the public works dept and ask if there was good way to dispose of the branches and needles. It was suggested I call JTO as that is who the city hires for tree removal service. Thought I better call before I loaded my truck up and glad I did as it is $30 per pick up truck to unload branches from a tree I took down. I thought this was a little high so I called around and found out that is a lot high........ like 6 times high! I have 4 loads, that is $120. I took the tree down and loaded the truck and JTO wants $30 for the branches which they will chip up and sell back to the public as Mulch for $30 a yard. I'll be darned if I will give JTO $30 for anything.

My neighbor buys mulch from the city of Mentor as they recycle leaves and trees and sell it back to the public. I am not sure if the city of Mentor makes money off this but it makes sense to do this as a service to the residents.

What I ended up doing with two tree limbs....... bundling it in 3 foot x 4 foot bundles and stacking it on the tree lawn for the garbage men to haul away. What a waste. The small stuff is being composted and I have one pick up full of limbs going to Kurtz Bros. in Wickliffe as they charge $5 a load and the guy is a small business owner who needs the business.

MadPotter, Were you aware the city has a contract with JTO? There you go breaking the rules again. The reason its 6 times more expensive is because they have the contract.

All you have to do is bundle branches in no longer then foot bundles and put it out on you trash day, what is so hard about that ?
And if you have branches down becuse of weather just put it out front and call public works they will pick them up.

What kind of service are you doing by posting twice ?

Yes after two phone calls to alert the Public works Dept that JTO was 6 times higher in price than any other place; He declared he didn't know as when they go there to dispose of stuff from the city they have a PO number and he had no idea what it cost.
The guy was very nice and as the regular phone person was off for the day he was pretty tied up volleying phone calls about old toters not being picked up by Waste Management..... LOL he said folks were pretty hot about that. Poor guy works on the truck all day and they stuck him on the phones

and yes I spent 8 hours yesterday bundling up branches and cutting up firewood to the specs of the new hauler....... it's all on the tree lawn waiting for pickup on Monday. I also know that I am not allowed to put anything on my curb until after 7pm the day before trash pickup........ and so it goes....... ordinance after ordinance after ordinance....... OYE!

and I didn't post twice...... although I have pine sap oozing from my ears.......

Well Becks was not helping the people when she prolonged the Grand River Ave. project, she had plenty of time to check out what it was all about, before that night.
And Werner well everyone knows what he wants, get rid of the illegals and fix his cable.
And Andy, only spoke up about the Main Street flood payment, so he can look good to the Landord Asso.
