Here is the list on candidates running for Council-At-Large
Painesville City
1/1/2018
Tom Fitzgerald *
Ana Padilla
Hal G. Warner
1/2/18
Maria G. Ceja
Lori DiNallo *
1/3/18
Dora Acosta
Marsita l. Ferguson
James Fodor *
Traci Montgomery
* Denotes Incumbent
As someone noted in a comment we have one Hispanic lady running in all three spots. My only hope is that they are not just "One trick ponies "That they will bring more to the plate then immigration.
We can decide what and who will bring the best result's for resident's of Painesville.
I am as you should be, very interested in what these candidate's platforms will be?
Three surprises.... Number of people running against Jim Fodor, Tom Fitzgerald running for re-election with his dismal attendance record as well as people who I thought would run that didn't.

So we have three incumbents runnings with only two of them having done much at all.
In addition we have Hal back for another bite at the apple.
On second thought, think of the fireworks if Hal is elected along with two Hispanic females!!
Grab you popcorn, the show is about to start!!
Wow, this should be exciting!
For the term starting 1/1/18 we have:
a do nothing
a know nothing
a compete unknown
What a great choice!!
I wonder why Fodor has three opponents while DiNallo has only one?
"One trick ponies that will bring more to the plate than immigration"
That pretty much describes Hal, because that's all he did when he was a ward councilperson. Dude is useless and I don't want him back. Anyone but Hal. Hal no.
I swore upon all that is sacred I would not vote for Tom Fitzgerald and then look who is opposing him........ OMG! Really this is the best we can do?
9:06......... for real grab your popcorn! Yeah I'm probably going for the Hispanic ticket because what we is not working!
Not 1 Hispanic lady running in all 3 spots. There are 3 different Mexicans running in 3 different wards. Not sure of Marsita Ferguson; Mexican first name and Americanized last?
re: 9:06 --lol! I went to high school with Hal. While I have my problems with illegal immigration, I'm not such a hard-liner about it. I just remember Hal as having a sort of dry sense of humor and a bit funny, but not political in any way. I don't know how he got so xenophobic. Honestly, if I still lived in Painesville I'd probably vote for one of the "Hispanic ladies."
It would appear that the only qualifications that these Hispanic women have, based on the timing of their running and the reason this is all coming up now (the rights of illegal Hispanics who live in our town), that their only qualifications are that they are Hispanic and want this to be more of a sanctuary/Hispanic city than it already is. Hispanics will all vote for them just because they are Hispanic. We need the feds here right now to clear our town out of illegals; too bad that's not happening yet. I, for one, am going to start making calls and writing letters. Again, thanks to Abby Delamotte (sp?), former city council member, for putting out a national call for all illegal Hispanics to come to Painesville, where they would be welcome and safe. It worked, Abby. Congratulations. And didn't Joe Hada have a big hand in this, too?
P.S. to 9:17, Hal Werner has a big history, so to speak, concerning city council. We'll tell ya all about it some day. But he probably figures this is a good chance for a default win for him, and the only way he can get back in.
I'm voting for Ana Padilla, no matter what she supports; one opponent of hers rarely shows up for council meetings, and the other opponent unfortunately does show up.
This is a sanctuary city. I don't care how hard the government of this city tries to assure us otherwise; they're just pulling the wool over our eyes, and we're buying it. The entire city is stacked in the favor of illegals and what they think and want, and what the people who advocate for them think and want. That's what rules this town, as the town continues to fill up with illegals. And you can bet your bottom dollar, as they say, that all three of these Hispanic ladies are advocating for illegals.
7:00 Something we will soon find out.
5:56 Cute! Look Tom Fitzgerald is a good guy. Problem is council people must attend meetings, workshops and the likes. It was mentioned in this month's Painesville Pride about a cruise Tom was planning for May? Hal on the other hand never missed a meeting, or workshop in four years?
3:55/1:08/12:39 Just to set the record straight. Marsita L. Ferguson is an African-American woman, not Hispanic.
7:19 With four people running in the 1/2/18 term it pretty much makes Fodor a shoe in. People in Painesville vote on name recognition. Who ever advised these candidates doesn't know Painesville.
Lori DiNallo will run a good campaign and will be re-elected.
Tom Fitzgerald? Not such an easy road. Hal may get a payback with the two of them splitting votes and the lady winning the seat.
Calling Americans who want people to migrant here legally, and want the illegals out of our country, racists, is a tactic that the Hispanic illegals, and those who advocate for the Hispanic illegals (and now Muslims) use to shut Americans up. It's been going on for more than two decades now, since the legal summer field workers quit going home after the growing season was up, and the Hispanics started coming by the millions. It's worked pretty well, especially since the Democrats picked up on it so that they could get the Hispanic votes and win elections. The word xenophobe has been thrown around a lot, too. I have fought the illegals in this country for a lot of years, and I have never seen anyone motivated by the hatred of Hispanics; it's just that they are usurping our country, and it is the duty of Americans to help stop it and protect our country, our treasure, the safety of our citizens, and our culture. There could be 20 million Hispanics/Latinos here alone, with the majority of them Mexicans, and there could be 20 million more illegals from all the other countries of the world. A lot of illegals from this country are now crossing over to Canada, and Canada is already overwhelmed by their numbers. There are reasons that we have our laws, and there are reasons that we are supposed to follow them. It would be good if we put the responsibility on the lawbreakers, and not call the American citizens who are trying to protect their country, their money and their families, names.
